We…read moreturned an elevated deck into a glassed-in three season porch, and not only did Almar bid the project reasonably (based on five estimates) they completed it on time, with good communication and great attention to detail. Craig was excellent during the project kickoff phase as well, when my wife and I went back and forth on design details and even had to put the project on the back burner for a few months. He patiently input our ideas into his design software so we could see how the room would look, and explained the myriad tradeoffs between time, money and design in a way that made perfect sense and made it easy to make the right decisions for our family and budget. Once the project started, Mark and Ed kept us informed in person and via email, and were very friendly, personable and helpful onsite presences. Ed especially went the extra mile, doing jobsite cleanup at the end of the day -- something that wasn't strictly required -- as well as some small safety touches I would never have thought of to make sure that our curious 5-year old didn't have any chance of hurting himself if he "accidentally" wandered into the area. The rest of the Almar crew was similarly good, and even the electrical, roofing, & insulation subcontractors were top notch. Totally dissatisfied with the lack of quality in the work completed on my house. After spending…read moreapproximately $30k on high end roofing and siding, three separate rooms in my house leaked when it rained. After a long time, two were eventually corrected (flashing was done incorrectly in one area and a second area was sided over without applying house wrap). I have water damage in three rooms that Almar left for me to take care of. One room still leaks when it rains and I'm still waiting for Alison or Craig to respond to my last email.

I reached out to Mike at Viola Roofing the morning of 4/1. He promised to get back to me as soon as he could. Imagine my surprise when one of his technicians arrived later THAT SAME DAY to assess & fix the roof. Repairs were completed correctly & quickly and for a reasonable price. He's going to return when he can get matching asphalt to replace another small section of the roof after the raccoon and her kits have vacated their nearby nest. Great communication throughout the process, and the workers were so polite and respectful. They cleaned everything up at the end of each day and were lovely to have around. But most of all we now have a very pretty porch where the crumbling concrete monstrosity that came with our house once loomed. I highly recommend.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. Would take weeks and, more than once, even months…read moreto get them to come back and do any work (see screenshots of my text interactions with them -- note the dates). They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

We hired KAKS to refinish our basement in Plymouth in the first half of 2021. The house was built…read morein 1971 and had a reasonably modern slab, but the basement was otherwise completely unfinished -- just mechanical space and an old workbench. Steve and his team turned it into a bedroom, family room with a wet bar, 3/4 bath, laundry room and storage room. Their approach is based on a template: standard type of shower, one style of lights, etc. And that was all fine, because they're good quality building materials. If you need a highly-customized job, you may want to talk it through first. This all happened during COVID, so timelines were a bit longer than they might have been normally. Steve and his team wore masks inside as requested, so that was good. There were some hiccups along the way, as there would be in any project this size, but each time Steve was able to make it right one way or another. At the end of the day, we have 3 brand new rooms and some great extra living space.

I live in Newton and my home was built in the 1940 i have a rock foundation and i was scared to finish the basement because of the unknown with potential water problems etc. But after Kaks came out and showed me how there Basement finishing system worked i was sold. With the basement finished i must say that i love it the walls look better than i could have imagine the space has a warm comfortable feeling nothing like the rest of the house.
