A number of proposals were received but Red Oak's stood out due to its inclusion of a storage solution for my paintings and the inclusion of an EVR system improving air venting and circulation, thus edging out the competition. We are very satisfied with the renovation and the experience working with Keith, the principal, and his team - all positive. We experienced very good communications, supportive decision-making on finishes, and discussing change orders and cost differentials. The work for the most part went according to schedule, though it took a bit longer due to record setting snow storms. We were kept informed as to how subcontractors were being staged and when they would arrive. All of Red Oak's subcontractors were impressive - very professional, approachable and showed up exactly on schedule.

I was very upfront with Peter and told him that if he would not fulfill his signed contract regarding the product he sold us, that I would make my experience known via Social Media. He responded by having a lawyer send me a threatening letter, claiming defamation. Well, it's not defamation if its true and the lawyer went away with my offer to provide the detailed timelines and emails of our interactions. Your threats will not deter me from educating fellow consumers about how we were treated and you have strengthened my convictions to report you to the Better Business Bureau and every other medium.

Since receiving the final milestone payment, we have had months of frustration due to a complete lack of communication, missed deadlines, and subquality workmanship. There were extended periods--sometimes weeks at a time--when no work was being performed, and no proactive communication was provided regarding delays or next steps. The quality of work completed by several subcontractors was disappointing and frequently required correction. We were left to supervise the subcontractors and check the quality of work, Jake was rarely if ever on site. We were often left to clean up after the subcontractors left a mess and/or broke things during their work. When legitimate concerns were raised about workmanship, instead of addressing the issues professionally, Jake became defensive, dismissive, and at times openly hostile. Rather than taking responsibility for deficiencies, he frequently attempted to shift blame, minimize concerns, or suggest that the problems being identified were not real issues. The experience felt more like being gaslit than having concerns addressed by a professional. Customer service was virtually nonexistent throughout the project. Phone calls and messages often went unanswered or flippant excuses "it's been a busy/hectic week". I was left constantly chasing updates and seeking explanations for delays that should have been communicated proactively. A contractor's value is measured not only by the finished product but also by professionalism, accountability, communication, and respect for the customer. Unfortunately, this contractor failed on all counts. The combination of poor workmanship, chronic delays, lack of communication, and hostile responses to reasonable questions made this one of the worst experiences I have had with a home improvement professional. We are a year into a project that should've taken 6 months I would not hire this contractor again and cannot recommend him to others.

Extremely Disappointing & Maddening Experience…read more We have been working with Drohan Development for over a year on a major addition and renovation project, and unfortunately, the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite the scale and significance of this project, the company has consistently fallen short in several critical areas. 1. Quality of Work The quality of workmanship in many areas has been unacceptable. We've encountered numerous issues that have required constant follow-up and rework. This has significantly delayed progress and project completion and left us questioning the overall integrity of their work. 2. Delays and Missed Deadlines Timelines provided by the contractor have been repeatedly missed without explanation or accountability. They use words like "we hope" or "we are trying" or "we are waiting to hear" and then no word on when a sub is showing up and when they do, we are supervising them vs them which is maddening. What should have been a straightforward renovation has dragged on far longer than expected, causing stress, unexpected time needed on our part and additional expenses. 3. Poor Communication and Responsiveness One of the most frustrating aspects of working with this company has been the lack of communication. Repeated calls, emails, and messages often go unanswered for days or even weeks. Gaslighting at its finest. When we do get a response, it is often vague or dismissive followed by continued silence leaving us with more questions than answers. 4. Lack of Overall Customer Service We expected a professional and customer-focused experience, especially given the significant cost of this project. Instead, we've encountered indifference and, at times, outright hostility when raising concerns. They have taken no responsibility or accountability for their own actions and that of their subcontractors. Is a matter of fact we have served as the onsite project manager with no one from Drohan supervising their contractors, or ensuring work was done and completed correctly and that continues to this day since our project still isn't done. 5. Unmet Expectations Overall, Drohan has failed to deliver on their promises. A project that was promised in 6-8 months has dragged on now for more than a year and their silence is deafening. We had high hopes for this renovation, but the repeated setbacks and ongoing issues have turned it into a nightmare. Recommendation We cannot in good conscience recommend Drohan Development for any home renovation or construction project. If you value quality work, clear and consistent communication, accountability when things don't go right and timely delivery, save yourself and look elsewhere.
