Anthony La Puma and his team at Dream Builderz are, in my opinion, as good as it gets. After concerns arose regarding the integrity of the main beam during home inspections, I called Dream Builderz to see if they had someone available to send for a second opinion and to get a quote that we could use during closing to perhaps get a credit towards the repairs. Anthony picked up his cell phone, while on vacation!, and told me that while he couldn't get to the house, he had someone in mind and he would send me a text. Sure enough, he texted me with one of his contractors phone numbers and the next day, I was able to set up an appointment for the contractor to inspect the beam. He gave his opinions and we used those opinions to get a credit for repairs at closing. Fast forward a month... Our home insurance company sent an adjuster out to inspect the house after we purchased a plan. Everything was great...except the stairs leading down to the basement. We were told that we had to have the stairs rebuilt, to code, by a certain date. Well, crap. Welcome to owning a home! The first person on my list to call was Anthony La Puma. He had been so kind to me (again, I reiterate that he helped me out while he was on vacation) while other construction companies I had called just never called me back. Within an hour of messaging him, he had called and made arrangements to come out to the house to look at the stairs and the beam. We figured, let's just bundle the work and get it all done at once. Anthony showed up, right on time, inspected the beam and the stairs and then walked us through what he expected the work to entail. He didn't gloss over any of the hard truths, he told us all his thoughts, took measurements, was a pleasure to speak with and said he'd be back to us with a quote in about a week. The quote came in two days...and seemed to be on target with everything he described so we went ahead and signed a contract with him. Within days of receiving our deposit, Anthony had set up a 2 man crew to come and do the work. He emailed us with the expected timeline for both the lumber delivery and when the men would show up onsite. The 2 guys were great. They sealed off our living room and kitchen so that the sawdust coming up from the basement wouldn't effect the entire house. They were efficient, effective and very conscientious of their work. The stairs look amazing and I have peace of mind now that I know our main beam has been reinforced. I would hire Dream Builderz for other construction on our house in a second! read more

I hired APL Dream Builderz this Spring (2019) for the purpose of taking out a central wall between my living room and kitchen, completely remodeling my kitchen, replacing all interior doors, baseboards and moldings, installing wood floors throughout the home and repairing a completely rotten bulkhead. As a general contractor, I rate APL (Anthony La Puma) a 10/10. He provided a very fair price, communicated updates regularly, was always available for questions or concerns, and performed the work within his original time frame, with no change orders and of the highest quality. I would rate Anthony's team and subcontractors a 10/10. They showed up every day and on time, were respectful of my home and my family, left the home each day clean and tidy and provided impeccable and professional customer service. As a person (and now friend), I rate Anthony a 20/10. Because we lived in the home during the renovation, it was important that the contractor I selected be a person of high character due to the high level of interaction between my family / pets and Anthony. He was ALWAYS respectful, exhibited the highest character and never ever took short cuts to complete a job. He also made sure that our dog (a very curious pup), was safe and cared for throughout the entire renovation. He put my mind at ease through the entire renovation. As a single working mom, it can be intimidating to renovate a home and I have often felt taken advantage of when it comes to contractors (either over pricing or treating me differently due to my limited knowledge of home repairs). I am the dumb one. Stay away if you can, read on if you want some info. I agreed to his terms by a handshake because he is old school and that is the way it is done. Stay Away from a house flip or renovation by this company unless you have had a complete inspection and you know what you are getting into. I thought I did but I blew it. He would not stand by any of the issues. you are buying as is. Shortly after we moved in we had multiple issues with plumbing, electric, heating. I had the garbage disposal literally fall off the sink drain two weeks after we moved in. Outlets never hooked up. lights with no working switches. The quality was poor all around. Rotted wood painted over the list goes on.When the home inspection said the roof was bad on the entire house but one section was failing now his answer was "you got to stop somewhere" it is your problem. Even with the low quality work, the lowest quality materials, you name it it was his lack of cooperation bugged me the most. In spite of all that, my wife still wanted this house. . I used Quicken loans, He did not like an internet bank. When I was having the home inspection done, he said it was for my sake, he was not doing anything and wanted to be there to contradict everything that was being pointed out. That should have been another warning sign. In the end I met all the condition on my end, quick close, down payment, buying as is with no concessions from him, all he had to do was bring a clear title to closing. My team discovered that who he bought the house from did not get an old mortgage recorded and it was still showing on my title. Anthony La Puma told me not to worry. Mr La Puma got his attorney to get a letter to the ins company to allow closing to move forward and he could get the release after the close. I was told by my attorney it was up to me but I was giving up my leverage if we close. My mistake #2. The owner Anthony La Puma looked me in the eye, shook my hand, and told me he would get it done for me. 17 months later email and phone call after phone call the realtor, myself and my attorney are still attempting to track ti down as Mr La Puma is no where to be found. I must say that I was very impressed with Tony and his crew and subs. Particularly Tony's attention to detail on dealing with the insurance company (broken pipe, extensive water damage at one of our church properties). He went through line for line and even caught some errors by the insurance company, in our favor!! His work was timely and neat. He was also excellent at keeping you informed of any changes, issues and progress. He discovered some issues, when the walls were opened, unrelated to the damage, which brought in additional subcontractors. Tony informed and recommended to us what to do, but always leaving it up to us never pressuring and always patient. Dealing with insurance companies, as we all know, can often bring stress and aggravation. Tony handled it with professionalism, patients and grace.
