Boston Stone Works - Old laminate countertops

Updating my previous review in 2025. I'm now a returning customer at Boston Stone Works and Mona is…read morestill awesome. I did a partial kitchen reno and needed to match the existing quartz counters that Mona's team installed last time. Ran into a problem: they didn't have any remnants in that color, and I'd have to purchase a whole slab just to match a little section. Mona came to the rescue! She offered me a remnant of a different color that she promised matches really really closely the original color. And since the new section was to be installed across from the old one (not contiguous), it would be very hard to tell. Sure enough, it worked out perfectly and Mona saved me a lot of money by finding a creative solution. Just like last time, I was doing this long distance without seeing anything in person. With contractors there is always drama or miscommunications, especially if you are not there to supervise. Not with Mona. Her reliability, attention to detail, and smart problem-solving in every project, no matter how small, give me total peace of mind. And the prices are still very reasonable, even years later! Thank you so much!

They replaced that one with a fabulous granite counter and just recently replaced another old laminate counter with a beautiful white stone counter. The work was done expeditiously and great quality and service! I will use them again in the future and recommend them to family and friends.

So called their Quincy number again and again and again..left my name and number. but after 7 calls i got a message from Doreen who said would call again-set up appt...never heard back...left another message on a different number..it was a good job with good pay..no one ever contacted us again...

As we looked for a new replacement top for an…read moreitem, initially service was great, the salesperson even bringing samples to our home and ordering one sample of one style. This happened because on our initial visit, the front desk person was new and unfamiliar with products, and we selected items that wouldn't work for the small piece of furniture. However, I began to feel "steered" toward a product I realized I didn't want. The initial quote given us also changed. As I tried to arrange to come to the store to meet with the salesperson to see more products (again), it became difficult to make an appointment. I didn't get callbacks. Nothing. I was completely ghosted. I'd bent over backwards to be patient, accommodating, understanding, etc., but we were in a time crunch on a project and needed to make headway. I left a message for the owner, making sure not to complain but just mention that I knew the salesperson was busy, etc., etc. Nothing again. The cold shoulder started around the first week of October, and there are religious items in my home, which the salesperson no doubt saw. I began to wonder if the current change in political climate and rise in some antipathies had something to do with the fact I was suddenly persona non grata. I can't prove this, but I have to wonder about the hot-and-cold treatment.

We recently contracted Norfolk Kitchen & Bath to do a complete renovation of our master bathroom,…read moreand we could not be happier. From the initial design process with Danielle we felt at home with her guidance, and she made the entire experience fun and enjoyable. Danielle was extremely knowledgeable, and put us on the right path with regard to our budget, design expectations and really helping us to understand how the entire process works. Right from the beginning, we knew we had reached out to the right company. Then came the build process, in which we were fortunate enough to work with Steve Costa who not only juggled a third-floor walk-up, a building from the late 1800s, but also an extremely pregnant woman who was keen on getting this project off the ground and completed as quickly as possible. Steve led a fantastic group of NKB employees and subcontractors, but I would be remiss to not give a special shoutout to John and Mike who were our dream team carpenters, kitchen décor experts, and mental support during the project. Our dog clearly misses Steve, John and Mike as they became best friends it seems during the project. Additionally, Kelsea from the PMA team was a huge help in keeping the schedule/accounting on track for us. We were THRILLED with the final product (photos attached), and we are so very thankful for all of the hard work of the entire NKB team to bring our dream bathroom to life (before the baby, may I add)! If you are looking to have work done, look no further than NKB. We know that we will be using them in the future when needed, with no doubts about it.

Our design person was good; however, the installers were a problem. There were a number of glaring…read moreerrors throughout (scheduling, coordination, project management, install errors, did not follow the design plan, etc.). Completion took more than twice the time they estimated. Once completed, the electrical system would not function. We requested the issues be fixed so the kitchen could be functional, but Norfolk Kitchens refused. They acknowledged the electrical problems existed, but stated because they were not legally obligated to remedy their poor workmanship because it was "up to code". Apparently new electrical systems don't have to function properly to meet "code". In our instance, Norfolk Kitchens failed to do work to a standard that resulted in a workable kitchen. Very poor workmanship.

I appreciated his teams' skills and most importantly his ethics, honesty and integrity. I recruited Hosea and his team for a risky paint job due to the unusual designer type of paint we were going to use. Also, I had a very tight deadline at risk of not being able to move in. Every painters told me they needed at least 2 weeks or more to finish it, even with a 3-person teams. This even included a large national paint companies (those who specialized on commercial or corporate buildings). Hosea's team were able to finish it in just about a week or slightly more, allowing me to move in right in time. I used a designer paint complex to handle and prone to mistake from inexperienced painters with this particular paint. As expected, they made a mistake, but owned it without creating difficulties. The end result ended up very fan-tas-tic, above and beyond expectations. And the pricing (certainly not cheap) was rightly fair and quite reasonable I think. I am so glad I selected Hosea for this impossible mission job. It was a total success. Attached are photos before/after the job. Paint was from Farrow & Ball with the exception of the windows trim (Sherwin Williams).

In one, she created a beautiful, thoughtful design starting with a completely empty space; in the other, she helped refine and enhance the design of my home using some existing furniture and recommending new pieces where needed. Laura listens, asks the right questions, and offers creative options without being pushy. Both times, she created spaces that I am truly proud to call home. Highly recommend!

Two stars because they do pretty work but don't expect them to finish…read more They used the wrong grout and then layered the right one over the wrong grout and now it's all cracking all over our tub. The employee that installed the tiles was sloppy and got the grout on the ceiling and then painted over it and now we have patches of mismatched paint all over our freshly painted ceilings..we asked them to come back and fix the job ( I must have left 5 or 6 messages with the woman that runs the store in quincy) and she ignored every one. My MIL spent a fortune on her bathrooms and they did the same thing with her. It's a real shame that it would probably take not even a half of a day of work and they ignored me. I can't get the grout to look clean no matter how hard I scrub because there is water settling in the old grout that is cracking through..this was a few years ago but the grout is cracking even worse now in the shower and I'm finally now writing a review about it

Then I was sent to their remnant yard in Rockland to meet Jim McCadden, who Measured the vanity I had in my car and who found me a matching piece of quartz. This was December 28th. I left a deposit. I have called Jim four times over the last 3.5 weeks and left messages asking about eta and no phone call has been returned. I texted him. My husband called him. Finally, I called the store and asked to speak to the owner and was told they would leave a message for Kathy Smitt to call me back. When Kathy did not call me I called back the next day and she refused to get on the phone although she was there and told them to tell me they would give me my money back. I learned that Kathy is the GM for the last 30 years, not the owner, that Jim McCadden, who has not returned any calls is the owner along with another Jim Martin. I need the piece next week while I have the contractor. They are completely screwing me, have wasted a month and they don't care.
