Lady hung up on me twice intentionally, super rude and was unable to pronounce "pre arranged" which made it nearly impossible to find where to go. When operated properly the Cab is a great alternative to Lyft and Uber. It's a better bargain, you almost always get a larger vehicle, assigned only to your party. A coworker used it 1 month ago in Hawaii and recommended it. He has a family of 5 and he found their prices superior than the share ride Apps. We used it twice and had mixed results. HNL airport to Waikiki the operator quoted us a flat rate of $32 excluding tips, however when arrived at the hotel the driver told us it's $40. First day in Hawaii we were in high spirits so I let it slide. The driver was a Korean gentleman driving a white minivan, dank wish I remember his name, making us Asians look bad. On the return trip to the airport once again they quoted us a flat $32 rate, when I told the operator of the incident on our 1st ride she advised us to call the operator STAT if the driver gives us a different quote. Thankfully this time our experience was far more pleasant. Our driver (Mohamood Hassan?) told us that it's only $32, he also warned us about shady drivers who prey on tourists. He was one of the nicest cab driver ever, very friendly and engaging. We talked about his family in Somalia, he was pointing out places and buildings of interests along the route, we discussed places to eat and stay in Honolulu, etc. Honest hard working folks deserves better, naturally we gave him a great tip. On both occasions we compared Uber and Lyft and they were about $8-10 more. We were assigned minivans on both rides even though there were only 2 of us with small suitcases. While in town I noted most if not all of the Cab rides were minivans and large SUVs. At such a price for such roomy rides it's a bargain, especially if you have a large party with heavy dunnage. Terrible customer service and very unprofessional! I had called to request a taxi through my Hmsa coverage and acts waiting awhile for someone to pick up, they pick up and instantly hang up on me. When addressed the situation one of the local dispatcher gets defensive and has an attitude with me and says don't say "you guys" it wasn't me. First off you represent the cab so it is "you guys" and second she didn't need to get cocky then now there purposely not trying to answer my calls now! Of the last 3 times I called- I got a taxi ONE time on tome. both the others I had to call back, and one of them took an hour when I had been told 10 min. HORRIBLE customer service. Do NOT ride with them! They are terrible. My wife booked a cab to the airport a day before her flight and the cab didn't show up. She had to call them and it took 30 minutes to get a new one. Fortunately she still made it to her flight. When I called to find out what happened, the dispatch person told me a booking was never guaranteed, and then she said that I should have booked earlier! She then let me talk to a customer service representative and he told me: "The cab driver cancelled and that's just what happened." This is a literal quote. No explanation as to why they didn't at least contact my wife to let her know and why she had to contact them to get a new cab. And of course no offer to compensate. The representative then asked if I wanted to talk to the VP. He wasn't in the office. I left a voicemail, and he never called back. Never again for me. This company is a joke. We use The Cab using the kamaaina tate at least 2-3x/year. When making reservations for pick up, The Cab is always on time. This week when calling for pick up from airport to home (using kamaaina rate), there was a delay of 15 minutes; another 3-4 minutes for dispatcher to answer; told driver would pick us up in 16 minutes; another 3 minutes to dispatcher on pick up status. Told she could dispatch another cab, but would take 6 minutes. Total wait time was about 45/50 minutes. Canceled my reservation. If there are no cabs that will take kamaaina fare, let us know so we will make other arrangements. Except for this last incident, I am happy with the service. read more

From the dispatchers to the cab drivers, everyone was very friendly and kind. Good conversation and a pleasant ride too! Both drivers handled the traffic competently and smoothly. Went with my patient to a dr and had a pick up scheduled. No one showed up so we called The Cab and kept getting hung up on. At the end no one showed up and my patient had to wait for 7 hours for another ride to get him. Don't know why the State of Hawaii keeps using them for medical transport rides. read more

We got into a taxi cab on 9/17/2016 at the ala moana mall. We asked the cab driver to turn on the AC because it was hot and he turned on the fan instead. When we asked him again he started yelling at us, and when my friend asked him not to raise his voice at her, he raised his hand as if he was going to hit her and then abruptly stopped the car, continued to yell at us and then told us to get out of his car in the middle of an alley. I don't know if this is how this company runs a business, but it's no wonder Uber and Lyft are taking your business. SNN 687 is the license plate of this cab driver. There were only 3 people in front of us, so I was wondering how everyone else on the plane was getting to their destination. It was 930pm on a Monday, so there was no traffic. The driver drove quite slow and we have no idea about routes, so we could have taken the long way but we had researched average prices from the airport and the meter surpassed that by miles. It came to $49, but he pressed a button and somehow it became $60! I asked him why the number jumped and he said taxes. That does not sound right. We were totally scammed and I don't see how that is legal in Hawaii and how they are ok with taxi drivers scamming tourists. We found Charley's taxi later, who had a FLAT RATE of $33. These people are absolute morons. Their drivers are dumb as box of rocks, dispatch can't get an address right if their life depended on it, and the "manager" does not care. A few days ago a driver called the cops to my house because I refused to sign the receipt for the insurance company after they tried to kill me while driving. The cops thought is was funny, but "management" did nothing. A couple days ago a driver literally swerved into oncoming traffic when pulling out of the hospital. Today's driver, after being 30 mins late because they got the pickup address wrong, kidnapped me and forced me to go to the wrong location so he could collect his prepaid faire. The list goes on and on. Best part though is when you report the problem the "manager" hangs up on you mid complaint. Even better, the "manager" posed as a driver today to see who I was in person due to multiple complaints to my insurance company, to which they're supposed to be a provided, and are hopefully now being dropped. Took a taxi today for work and I had the best experience with David Hong! He was prompt, and patiently waited for me because I was running about 10 min late. When he picked me up, he was thanking me for my work as a nurse because I was in scrubs. Very pleasant man and I had a great conversation with him that was really uplifting and gave me feel-good vibes. His driving was safe and smooth, and I got to my destination really quick. Drivers are contracted, as I was told, so my experience could be different from others. But I wasn't expecting to have this nice of a ride. I took a taxi recently to the airport, having done so many times over the years. The fare amounted to $36 and when I protested, saying that I should have been charged the kamaaina rate of $23, the driver suddenly pretended to not understand English. Also, when I gave him my credit card, he acted stupid, as though he didn't know how to use it. I paid cash, out of exasperation, and phoned the company on my return home. The person I spoke to was sympathetic and said that shouldn't have happened. She said she, or her supervisor, would call me the next day to let me know how they would make this right, and I never heard from them. That's it! I will not do business with them again. read more

I figured I'd give my "action" to the OG's being that ever since Uber, cab driver's seem to be becoming obsolete. I was asked by the driver if I was paying by cash or card, and was told that there's a 10% charge with card.. I wasn't was it sure at first, very skeptical as I wasn't told this while on the phone. But on the way back, I was told again that there's a 10% charge when using card. That's really high in my mind, seems like something that should be disclosed prior to jumping into the cab. Seems like a hidden charge, I thought in my head... whatever. Maybe that's common knowledge though in the "cab" world... I just used the money I had to pay someone else do I could pay cash. Both times I receive an older, Korean, gentleman driver. Basically they'll pick you up and drop you off that's it.. Not very friendly(as expected). Not what I was expecting as far as "OG's" (old timers, local peoples aunties and uncles), I guess. More costly and less personable. Not sure if I'll continue to use the cab. They still need the business and I do get reimbursed. Aloha. Disclaimer: I think they cater more towards families as both drivers were in mini-vans. I waited 1 hr at the curb with my baby for HMSA contracted medical taxi. I had to call 3 times and the dispatcher just said "ill send them out again", no other explanation. Made a reservation to be picked up on a military base. The agent said they had credentials and I was all set. Called again the night before to confirm and they said they don't have credentials and they can't pick us up on base. Had I not called, we would have been stood up and missed our flight. TW: racism, harassment. Don't get me wrong, there are awesome Cab drivers. I took the Cab a lot this past year and I'm 80% sure they know my name by now. The operators are so nice to me and my cab is always there within 10-15 minutes. That's the good thing. However there are some things that I'm very disappointed in. First of all, racism. I'm Micronesian but I don't "look" like it. I'm often mistaken for Filipino. I live in an area where Micronesians are known to live and call for cabs often. Cab drivers are surprised picking me up and start going on about how horrible the Micros are and how I shouldn't make friends with them. It's very awkward and very disheartening. Especially when they ask what I am and I have to awkwardly reveal that I am, in fact, one of these "criminals who stab people." I've had one tell me "Wow, you don't look Micronesian! The women are usually....kind of fat." Terrible behavior. Am I supposed to smile and laugh? Sometimes I will explain and sometimes I'll get quiet and put my earphones in to avoid speaking. Another experience: harassment. This has only happened once. As a young girl in a cab, mostly I'm safe but there is one time a cab driver tried to hit on me. I told him I had a boyfriend. Nothing physical happened but he definitely made it known that he would love to "treat me to McDonald's someday." I don't have proof but he did call me twice after that, having saved my number. It is up to you whether or not this is true. It's enough to make me want to get my permit lol but I have an eye condition and holding a license is still up in the air for me. I need to wait for my doctor's okay. So really, I don't have a choice. Again, most of the time my experience is good. I have ridden the cab maybe 40 times this year. The operators are sweet and the cab drivers know their way around. Just like with Uber, I would suggest being with someone if you can and also sharing location. read more
