Caught The Cab from the Modern Honolulu back to downtown Honolulu. It was around 11pm so there really wasn't any traffic but I think our driver was a transplant from Chicago or New York. In the stretch in front of Ala Moana center he managed to cut off a bus and two cars. I could see him smirking the whole time in the rear view mirror too. We told him we weren't in a hurry and the fare was what the fare would be fast or slow. I guess he had places to be or something to do because every traffic light after that was a drag race to the next red light. I had had a couple of drinks with dinner but was fine. 15 minutes of his driving had me feeling like I was ready to hurl. Needless to say I left no tip and a call to the company got me transferred to a voice mail black hole. It's been a week since that ride and no follow up or call back yet. read more

Unsat! Called a cab from my location to the airport for a flight. The dispatcher asked where from and where to. And thats it! Pretty easy i thought. I did wonder why she didnt give a time estimate or ask for my number. No biggie i thought they have caller id (its 2014) and its the middle of the day so one should be here shortly. Had to call back asking why it wasnt here yet because im now running late half hour later. Turns out the driver couldnt find the place! No call just left! The dispatcher didnt care and the driver wasted his time and fuel. Try someone else! read more

First time using The Cab and will never use them again! Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 I called at 10AM to arrange a pick up for that evening from Schofield to Waikiki. We had dinner reservations for an event and did not want to be late. The Cab was supposed to be here at 6PM. At 6:15, with no cab in sight and no call from the company, I call dispatch and they tell me that the driver had a mechanical issue and it would take 40 minutes for another cab to respond. Dispatcher was rude and unprofessional. I explained that it was a special occasion and we had made arrangements some 8 HOURS earlier. Finally, after getting disconnected, calling back and having the dispatcher claim that I hung up on him, he says another cab will be there in 10 minutes. Once in the cab, the driver explained that he didn't understand how this happened, he said they work as contractors and there are 700 drivers. He was not our originally scheduled driver, and instead got the call from dispatch right before he arrived. As he was in Mililani, it was no problem for him to get to us in a few minutes. What the duck?! If we had not called and complained they would have just left us waiting for another 40 minutes, at least. THIS WAS A $100 CAB RIDE, AND THAT WAS KNOWN IN ADVANCE. IS THAT FARE NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO WARRANT THE MOST BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE - LIKE HAVING A DRIVER ARRIVE ON TIME? Huge disappointment, I will never choose this company again and I will tell that to everyone. I hope they go out of business sooner rather than later. I wish Yelp had a "negative stars" rating. This taxi campany driver is terrible! He hit my car from behind this morning on Kalakaua Ave 6:30am towards to Waikiki. I tried to get this driver's information, but he turn the car and run away. I didn't have time to see the license plate. I only could see the taxi company sign on the white sedan. It was Asian middle age driver. I called police, but of course they cannot do anything without license plate info. I believe in karma, so even though this driver could get away from taking responsibility this time, worse will happen to him next. I just hope the god no one else would get hurt. I would not suggest anyone to use their services! If I could give them no stars at all, I would. I was driving to a hospital and as I was entering the driveway, a The Cab white minivan was exiting. He would've hit my car if I didn't honk. When I called The Cab company less than 10 minutes to report it, first they transferred me to an answering machine that doesn't even specify anything. I called back 422-2222 and the dispatcher said they were busy and can't take complaints so I asked for the supervisors manager. She transferred me to Linda who was not helpful at all! I gave her the location, description of the car in less than 10 minutes since the incident that she admitted she cannot track which driver it was! Omg! When I questioned why they do not track their drivers on where they pick up or drop off, she said her gps doesn't show that?! What do they teach or do they not keep track of their drivers on where they go. I explained than if I was in The Cab especially heading to the hospital, I would be concerned that The Cab driver was being negligent and dangerous, it would not be safe at all!!! I would never recommend this cab company at all! I will not feel safe in their cars and the company doesn't feel it is important to follow up with complaints to improve their services. I never been so dissapointed & angry with the service we got from this cab driver who drives a gold toyota sienna van . This cab driver is ridiculous seriously!!! I missed my job interview because of this dude , I had an interview @ 5pm. Called for a cab @ 4pm already the cab took half an hour to get here and when he finally gets here we get in his van asks where to so I told him south king st. Ross's in mc cully... he then tells my bf , hey what's the problem I'm talking to her... then as i repeat myself for a fourth time, south king st. Ross's in mc cully, he tells us to "get out"! No i cannot go there because of the traffic. You get out wait for another cab. WTF...??? I mean who does that???its ridiculous , isn't it his job to take paying customers to there destination??? The time came around with no cab. We called the supervisor and were told a cab could pick us up 20 minutes after our necessary delivery time. This is unacceptable, and rude behavior. Not only did the cab remove their flat rate for military, they were insanely rude to me as a spouse and told me that (despite picking me up from a house on a military base that they ," didnt know if my husband was active duty", gave me a hard time about the military discount. It takes more then one bad experience for me to write a bad review. This is my advice, don't use The Cab unless you want rude dispatchers and Drivers that end up going to the wrong location then blaming it on you when you're standing in front of a big sign and entrance that says Waea complex and are looking at two signs that show the street names that you practically spelled out to the dispatcher. I'm not even angry that the guy went to the wrong place, I'm displeased that these people had the nerve to blame their customer when they don't even know the difference between Beretania and Kukui st! I call back having waited over 20 mins to find out that the cab came couldn't find me and left!!!! I asked why didn't the cab call me?? The operator said the drivers are not required to call!!! I called TheCAB because my mother needed a ride to the airport. The driver ended up driving around pretending like he did not know where the airport was, and eventually made my mom pay WAAAAAY more than necessary. It's shocking! I mean, don't a lot of people take the taxi to the airport? What driver doesn't know where the airport is????? Once he dropped her off, he said "So are you going to give me a tip?". And the nice person my mother is, she ended up just giving him a tip anyways. That was honestly so uncalled for. Never calling this taxi company ever again. read more

After calling 3X and waiting for Charley's Taxi for 45min to never arrive, TheCab saved the day! They were fast, very friendly (our driver was quite the character!) and although I had heard they cost more, we were charged the same amount as we were with Charley's on a previous trip. I was also informed that TheCab has the largest number of cabs in the Honolulu area. They certainly won our future business!! read more

On 10/1/12 at 4:26pm Taxi #19, driven by Dennis Tanaka, was dispatched to Kaneohe Bay Marine Base to pick up 5 passengers, including me. Our destination was Pearl Harbor, Arizona Hall. When he arrived, he had to be asked to help us put the luggage in the van. We then proceeded to Pearl Harbour without incident. We checked in and asked him to wait so that he could take us to the building that we were assigned, 1/2 mile from the office. This is where the problem began. He was handed a map to Building 1506/1507, which he refused to look at and then took us on a very slow joy ride, at approx 10mph, around the base, pretending to be "lost". This added an additional $20 to our fare. It was not until I called the office and complained, giving him step by step directions, that he conveniently knew were to go. The fare was $97. He was handed $100 and never offered change. He then watched as we unloaded the luggage. I had to hand 4 bags through the back seat to a handicapped woman as he stood there in her way...again, not offering any assistance. I called the 808-422-2222 at 6:24pm, 10/1, to register a complaint and to request $20 be refunded. I was asked if I paid cash or credit card, and since we paid with cash, a $100 bill, I was told a supervisor would be returning my call. As of now, nobody has attempted to call. This is extremely poor service and I am writing this in hope that other "tourists" and military members will not be taken advantage of by your company in the future. I am requesting a refund, and plan to continue to let others know of the experience we had with "The Cab". We visit Hawaii frequently and know our way around your island. read more

Dispatch is awful and even put my friend and I in danger. I called at 2:11am on Sunday to get a ride from Kailua. The lady on the other end told me a cab was on its way. At 3am I called back, wondering where my cab was. "There isn't one out there," she says. "They have all gone home". WHAT!!!! I was a bit upset that she didn't call me back to inform me this or tell me to begin with. I asked her for information of a company that could help me out and she told me she had none. Here I am with a friend and no way to get home. We go to our car to possibly sleep it off and a man comes up to start harassing us. My friend calls the cops, fearing for her safety. The cops get there and call us a cab.... from the same company. Apparently it takes an act from the local law enforcement to get a safe ride home. I will never tell my guests or customers of this cab service. read more

This rating should be less than one star....maybe negative five. I only had to use the company once to determine that I would never use them again. The driver was rude, and I couldn't understand most of what he was yelling at me over my cellphone. Apparently he arrived at the wrong place and it was my fault. Not only are they rude, but horribly unsafe drivers. Twice this past weekend, while riding on a motorcycle we were cut off, and almost clipped by this cab company. If not for my boyfriend's quick thinking and reflex, we would have been a casualties of this cab company's horrendous drivers and lack of safety standard. Cab with TAG # 89826 - You're welcome! My boyfriend saved you a trip to the police station and the insurance claim. Thank goodness he is a better and more alert driver than you. But I guess you didn't hear the Harley Davidson motor or see the shiny white motorcycle traveling beside you for almost half a mile before you decided to cut over. There was an incident with this same cab company on Sunday afternoon, in broad daylight too. But I unfortunately was not able to remember the tag number of the second cab. I'm not sure why this company is still allowed to operate given all the bad reviews I've read lately. read more

The Cab SUCKS! I called them for a ride to meet friends for my b-day party, 1st call was 4:50pm, they said 10 mins away. I had to call back 4 times, twice they said 1-2 mins away, called back again after over 10-15mins and still no cab over and over again. Finally they put me to supervisor who said... drivers new and doesn't know what they're doing. Finally by almost 6pm I called Charley's taxi who got here in ten mins, like they said, and the driver was genuinely sorry that the other company made me almost an hr late to my own b-day party! terrible. 1.2 miles should have been about 7-8$. the guy who i mind you did not speak a word of english, did not spend any moment to listen to te directions i was giving, he took me all around the ******* block and began to ask me and i quote "i can turn here?" when i specifically repeated that my road was a one. way. street. i told him several times to take a specific street. i explained to him it is 1.2 miles and he ignored me taking me down these dark and back road streets. i usually take a lyft simply because they have actual people who know what the **** they're doing. read more

Just now I called to confirm and was told that I was not guaranteed a pick up and that the person who took the reservation "made a mistake" I asked what I should do and was told to "get a friend to pick you up" Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told none available. If I could use a lower rating I would. This was the worst experience I have ever had using a taxi anywhere in the world! We had just finished a phenomenal Outrigger Canoe ride at The Royal Hawaiian with Waikiki Beach Services (something we highly recommend) and decided to take a cab back to our hotel (The Modern Honolulu, which is a great place to stay). The cab driver, a Mr. Duc Le said nothing when we got into the cab. It was only when we got to our hotel that he then informed us that there would be an additional 10% added to the bill as he was cash only. At no point were we told that the transaction would be cash only! The cab had no signage indicating that it was a "cash only" cab, or that there will be an additional 10% added to the tab. Not only was Mr. Le was rude, and abusive, but during the ride we got to listen to his radio as other drivers cursed, yes cursed their passengers. Normally I opt for Charly's Taxi, but a friend called for us. The cab arrived and was parked half a block down the street. We had to hail him multiple times for him to come down to where we were. He never opened the doors for us (van with auto door opener by driver). He was told that there would be 4 of us, 2 bucket seats and third row of bench seats, which were in the cargo configuration. He never took out his earbuds until we raised our voices for him to fix the back seat so one of us could sit there. We gave him exact and very simple directions to get to our condo, again had to raise our voices at him because he refused to take out his earbuds. He drove like a maniac weaving in and out of traffic and stomping on the gas and break. Once we almost got broadsided as he pulled into a major intersection and slowed down making the oncoming car slam on his brakes. When we exited the vehicle he said to come back and close the doors! This is absolutely the worst cab company I have ever had the displeasure of using. I was in Hawaii for not even a day and I had to call cabs multiple times. Every single cab I called was late and multiple cabs were "lost" or "on the other side of the building" and left without calling me. I called a cab over an hour ago and I called about five times to see where they were and each time I was given a different answer: "Ten minutes away," "five minutes away," "12 minutes away." Eventually, I just said forget it and called another cab company because the service from The Cab is HORRIBLE. read more

My driver told me he has passed his meter inspection last week. For the public's information, all taximeters are inspected once a year and receive a seal of approval from the Dept. of Agriculture/Weights and Measures. If there are any discrepancies, call the number on the driver's taxi certificate or call theCab office directly. Have a great day. read more

No company will have all bad employees, but here's a pretty bad example of a dishonest one. TheCab has the contract to park cabs at Walmart in Honolulu. Asked TheCab driver waiting there to go to Tusitala street in Waikiki - usually about $10. He took me up Piikoi, got on the HI freeway, got off at Punahou, went along Bingham, turned down McCully, and then entered Waikiki. Added about 1.5 miles to the trip. End fare: $18. This was not just a case of not knowing the best way - this was deliberate. Walmart should sternly warn TheCab company about not letting their drivers cheat people they think are out-of-towners. This gives Walmart a bad image, too. read more

On a visit to Honolulu to see my sister earlier this month, I had a dramatic run-in with a driver for this company. My sister was backing her car out of a spot in the lot in front of the Ward Center movie theater when a minivan taxi blew by us and backed into the spot next to us. He proceeded to straighten out his vehicle by pulling back and forth a number of times. Meanwhile, our car is 3/4 of the way out of the spot (and everyone knows that once you're 1/2 way out, other cars have to WAIT) and stuck there. No big deal, really, just sort of irritating, right? Then he started SCREAMING out his open window. "You just learn how to drive? You just get driver license?! WOMAN DRIVER!" I yelled out the window that I'd be calling his company to complain and made a note of his cab number. It was at this point that he got out of his cab and started walking towards our car, screaming obscenities. "BITCH. YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!" When my brother in law got out of the car to get the license plate number on the cab, I was legitimately concerned that there was going to be a physical fight. I called the company a number of times to complain, but no one ever picked up their customer service hotline and my messages were not returned. I am APPALLED that a company would choose not to address a serious complaint like this. I have no idea what was wrong with that man, but I am grateful we were never in the back of his cab. The is beyond a "customer service" complaint -- this man seemed unhinged and genuinely dangerous. For those still using THE CAB, his number was 919. Be careful. read more

Just had the worst possible experience with driver Legalo Aivao. Not only was he 23 minutes late picking us up (called night before to schedule pick up time for a doctor appointment) both him and the dispatch woman said that because I wasn't paying out of my own pocket because it was through Aloha Care they weren't required to pick me up on time. The whole ride over Legalo was extremely rude, calling me a f-bitch, texting on his phone, and just overall being a horrible person. I recommend Aloha Care cancel their contract with the cab. The only time I will use this company again is when hell freezes over. I felt threatened, harassed, and overall very unsafe. -5 out of 10 stats. They do not even deserve the 1 star I gave them. They do not deserve anyone's hard earned money. Take Lyft or Uber. It is waaay cheaper, drivers are friendly, and their cars are in good condition. Legalo Aivao's car seats were LITERALLY ducked taped together and his car almost didn't start. Once again....never use The Cab if you want a safe, cheap ride. read more

These cab drivers are all independent and I have called several times this week because of their inconsiderate attitudes towards people that live here. They spend a lot on advertising their service how about spending the money better on attitude adjustment for your cab drivers! Don't use their rotten service there are a lot of other cab server's in Honolulu that do a better and kinder job. If they don't treat locals right you think they will treat vacationers better. UNRELIABLE!!! Called to pickup from Hickam AFB for an early morning pickup.. We were confirmed for pickup and when the cab didn't show up, the company denied that they had a call for pick up and said they didn't have anyone in the area. The aggravating part is we called 45 minutes in advance and waited 5 minutes after our scheduled pick up time to call back. When you are wrong, just admit it people. read more

I wish zero stars was a possibility. Absolutely horrendous ride. When I talked to dispatch they said they would send a minivan because I told them I had an infant and car seat plus one more adult. What showed up was one of the worst looking Ford Explorers I've ever seen, and I work for a car rental agency so that's saying a lot. The only open space for seating was the middle row. The third row was folded down and had a ton of crap on it. The driver had this homemade divider between the front and middle rows which rivaled that of a prison van and it was covered in messages about jesus he had stuck on with letters meant for mailboxes. The condition of the cab would have been tolerable had he at least allowed me to install my one year olds carseat. He insisted that I hold her on the ride. Unfortunately he was also a terrible driver. He slammed on the brakes a few times and I had to keep my daughter's head from hitting the metal divider. I was stuck with this cab company thanks to Kaiser Permanente and their contract with them. I would have just taken an Uber and ate the cost if I knew the ride would be like that. To get back to the airport after the appointment I'm just going to Uber instead. read more

Used to use them regularly until they CANCELLED my cab and didn't bother calling me! They sent another one to get me, but sent it to the WRONG location - as I result I missed my flight home to Maui. When you add in the cigarette and stale alcohol smell in these very dirty cabs - it's just not worth it. Use Uber or Lyft. After calling last night to arrange for a 0450 pickup to get to the airport, no cab showed up. Because my housing situation is unique, I passed all of the specific information the night before and verified they had operators that could get on base. After no cab showed, I called to see what the status was and the operator just kept pausing and giving me no status, saying only that she would see what she could do. With no resolution, I had to wake my family to take me to the airport, the exact thing I was trying to prevent by calling ahead. Never again will I use The Cab. read more

I needed a cab so I could grab some smokes. My normal guy wasn't available so he sent The Cab for me. Never EVER use The Cab ! I'm over at Lagoon and Weiwei Loop. I told the guy where I wanted to go. Airport 7 Market over by Big Kahunas Big Kahuna's pizza 'n stuffs Hawaii across the street from the McDonald's. "Oh yah ya" he said. Next thing I know we're going up the on ramp to the H1 Freeway ! I said, "Where are you going ?". He says, "Shortcut I show you !". I keep telling him he's going the wrong way. "No no ! Shopping center. I show you !". Then we're way over in Salt Lake and he keeps pointing saying "Shopping Center!" By this time I'm screaming at him ! "No ! I don't want to go there ! Quit telling me where I want to go ! I know where I want to go !" I was shaking ! He finally listened to me and took me where I wanted to go. The drivers for The Cab are always hijacking their customers. They're notorious for that. Oh and if they do take you where you want to go, they take the longest, slowest route there to run up the meter. read more

I don't think The Cab deserves any stars. It was the worst cab ride we have ever taken. Had them pick us up from Queens Hospital. It was already a difficult day but then when the cab arrives the driver starts yelling at us! He is raging against English speaking people, the Japanese tourists, etc.,etc. He said he was from Korea and was very rude. Called to make a complain and the manager didn't seem to care. read more

I honestly don't have much to complain about...I've never had a really bad experience with The Cab. For one thing, the phone number is easy to remember. One four and the rest are 2s. I'm always able to get an operator to send a cab to wherever I am. The cab drivers I've had were always friendly, and didn't complain about me paying with my card. Every driver I've had even made small talk with me, which I appreciated. The only gripe I have is that the GPS systems need to be improved. My last 2 cab rides, I've had to give the drivers directions to my destination. It was fine, since I knew the way to my destinations. But what if I didn't? That is the only reason i'm not giving this 5 stars. But other than that, I have no other complaints. read more
