CRUD!!!! The inlaws are coming to dinner in 47.5 mins and I totally forgot and went out shooting pool with the lads instead!! I promised "er indoors" I'd create a mouth-watering feast fit for royalty and having looked in the fridge there is very little I can do with half a tin of catfood, a mouldy cucumber and jif squeezy lemon... or is there!??... no, no there really isn't.
Not to worry. In sandymount is a shop designed for just such occasions, The Butlers pantry make all their own foods, put them into neat little foil trays and give you very exact cooking including instructions on how to make it look like you did it yourself... well, reheating instructions, you'll have to do a bit of acting too.
They also do a range of deserts including pies and cakes that look very much the way you would expect them to look if you were an accomplished pastry chef at home... not processed, home-made. These desserts are very very good, do not tell mother in law you made it yourself, if she believes you she'll ask for the recipe or worse still want to watch you recreate your masterpiece.
The shop is not particularly cheap but the foods are really good, pricing think reasonable restaurant (12 - 14Eur per main including sides) read more
