what a beautiful cafe with a stunning view!! pastries are to die for!!! the very hard part is picking just which one!!! service was quick & friendly!! highly recommend!!

This is a lovely bakery located right next to the water. The lines go out the door in the mornings on weekdays. There is an assortment of bread and pastries for sale, and they all look really good. I tried the small and large strawberry fruit tarts, and I also got a chocolate tart as well. The fruit tarts are good, but they do add this glaze on top of the fruit though. The tarts don't quite taste like the ones I really love in the United States but they are still good regardless. The chocolate tart was just perfect though. Crust was good, filling was good, size was good. I would definitely get this one again. They have a minimum charge of 2.80 euro on the credit card, but I'm glad that they take credit cards.

Congrats to Owen Doorly "the owner" for the fantastic creation of one of the best bakeries in Ireland. i've been getting the different breads, cakes, and pastries in the last 2 years and all i can say is they're greeeeaat!!!. everything is manufactured there with good quality ingredients and care. The service is great, you will be well looked after by the staff and Owen himself wich is a treat to have the owner behind and on the top of things. the display looks very yummy!!! and it has a good range of delicious breads with different fillings. I recomend this bakery, i know well the ciabattas, muffins, pastries, baguettes, tomato bread, rye bread, Italian country bread, carrot cake and brown bread but I'm sure the rest are as good!!! there you go...make a stop at Il Valentino for a nice treat... freshly baked!!!

Popped into Il Valentino today for the lunch and I highly recommend it. It's like a little bakery/patisserie/deli that offers muffins, pizza slices, sandwiches and all sorts of breads. Now I love bread - give it to me any day over chocolate - and the stuff their bread looks delicious. Lots of variety and all yummy. I opted for a vegetarian pizza slice and it was yum. Really tasty, which was surprising seeing as though I don't really believe food should come served without meat! But it was great and I'll be heading back there very soon.

My mother in law tells me that on a Sunday they sell their bread for half price... she tells me this as I am being ushered out the door and mentions that what she would really like is the large crusty swirley one and would I be a dear...... I was a dear.... and while I was there I treated myself to a large black coffee and a couple of the small macaroon type thingys. It was a nice day, so I sat out and further treated myself to a quiet cigarette as well... utterly civilised and even more so when you realise this was being done under the guise of Sunday morning chores (i'd love to cut the lawn but I have to run some errands for your mother dear...) The staff are mostly Italian and this adds to a lovely feel of something authentically foreign and well... charming I think, I am possibly seeing it through Marlboro tinted glasses but I stick by it none the less. Not the cheapest coffee you'll get in the city but worth every penny.

This place has had the best write ups that I have seen of any bakery come coffee shop. So I ventured in for Yelp to see for myself. Average sized place with the amazing surroundings of the Docklands at it's disposal. The bread is out of this world, such a variety that is hard to find in Ireland, no doubt easier for the continental or major city dwelling folks. It's nice to know that we too have one in central Dublin. I had a coffee and muffin there, a healthy muffin if that is possible. They just bake everything as naturally and as healthy as possible, divine! I got some Pane Pugliese bread to go, mouth is watering again at the thought of it. Just go and see for yourself, please!

Ventured here last weekend on my way to run by the canal. It was pretty occupied even for a saturday morning. Very good coffee and small bites/sandwiches. Only thing was most of the good stuff was on the shelf after 9.30 am. May be I was too early. Looking forward to visiting it this week too!

Hmm so far the service has been good only 50% of the time (but I've only been here twice :-p); the first experience was on a weekday morning before work and the guy behind the counter was very, very impatient. The second time was Monday afternoon and the woman behind the counter was very, very patient. :-p Patience and good service are much appreciated! Blueberry scones are delicious; ask for the wonderful blueberry jam to go with it. I wasn't as impressed with the chocolate on chocolate cake as it turned out to be a little dry. Cappucino is not bad, but definitely needs an extra shot of espresso. Loved the travel books on the shelf - I had a good read to accompany my coffee and cake.

I'd give it a 5, but the coffee can be hit and miss. Nice seating outside if you wish and lovely treats to tempt you with. I've not had anything savory yet, as my eyes stray to the sweets and stare at them while i decide which one I want. This one- no this one - eh no - this one here - NO- this one, ok, that one there. (you get the idea..) They have a flour-less chocolate brownie. Now, we all know that's considered health food. So how can you not have one? I mean really .... and its gorgeous to boot. Happy days!!! (my hubby doesn't agree with it being a health food, but what does he know??) Sadly, I live around the corner from here .. that should be a good thing. But. Its. Not. I have to pass it every morning, and every evening. The sheer willpower required to stay ten steps away from it is gynormous :|

    My cappuccino, pretty cool

Nothing impresses me more than walking into a place and the people behind the counter act as if I have been there before, excited to see me. I want to spend my money in places like this. I failed to get the names of the young Irish girl and the Italian man behind the counter, but what a good team. I had a cappuccino and my wife a mocha, along with a cannoli (sp) and I an orange cake thingy, lol, both were fantastic. Thank you for the chat and making us feel so welcome to your city and you coffee house. A small corner coffee house, but good coffee and treats.

Fantastic coffee, Wonderful assortment of cakes and breads!! (On entering the shop, 99% of people would be amazed.) This is my second visit. In my first visit, the assortment of cakes and how to display them(!) was much more fantastic (and exciting) than I had imagined, and I found myself totally at a loss for what to do! In that moment I knew I had to come back frequently, and so far I've tasted Croissant, Sandwich and some coffees. Croissant was nice, with purely rich flavor of butter and was not too fatty. But it was not as specially great as I had expected (from their website, I suppose). Cappuccino was too amazing. "Oh, then what were the things which I've thought 'amazing coffee' until now?" I thought! In the second time I had a Focaccia Sandwich: Grilled vegetable and Pesto. (Though the pesto was too much and consequently too oily,) The Focaccia itself was really good. When toasted, the surface was lightly crusty while the inside was tender and 'affectionate' (not sure how to express..like Pain de maman, as kindness of Mom!) Cafe Mocha was great, too! It was as profound as espresso, with perfect amount of 'hot chocolate' element. I've never tasted their cakes, and I MUST. And other Italian breads, too! I would recommend this place for a little break. Though eat-in space is a little cramped, somehow (because of the sofa?) it's relaxing.

I finally made it into Il Valentino. I walked past it a couple of times but it was never the right time for me. This time it was Easter monday and just half an hour before they closed. But we were very welcome, they only said we would get our coffee in a take away cup which was fair enough as we could still sit down, enjoy our pastries and leave with whatever bit of coffee was left in the cups to allow them to properly clean and finish up. It was tough to choose from all they have on offer, but I couldn't resist a fresh strawberry tartlet - the first ones for me this year. Definitely a lovely little cafe, very friendly and helpful staff.

This cafe is always a lot of people. The patio is nice place because we can see Grand Canal. It's hard to get the table brunch and lunch time. You can order some sweets on online. I ordered the birthday cake at store, and I went and collected it. Unfortunately the stuff forgot my order! That's shame! so I couldn't get my order cake. I was sad.. so I got another cake then. However the cake was good taste.

As it was early in the morning I went for the eggs florentine and wasn't disappointed. It was delicious! The coffee was good too. When leaving I ordered a chai latte to go and I have to admit it was the worst chai latte I've ever had so I wouldn't recommend that one ;) The rest is great. The place was hopping when I was leaving which I usually look at as a great thing! Definitely worth a go again I'd say!

We piled in, all 16 of us for an office lunch last week, the place was busy with a good atmosphere and despite the fact that nearly all the tables were full, our meals came out quickly and correct for all. It's nice when that happens, you aren't worrying about clock-watching and only having so much time before you have to be back in the office. I had the burger as the pulled pork had sold out (gutting); the burger, as with all the mains dishes, was HUGE. I'm a big guy, I like food, I will always clear my plate (because otherwise mommy would be mad... who me? issues?....not at all). I struggled here, I only just finished the mountainous meal served with the slightly too greasy fries... but finish I did.... because I'm a good little boy. Overall it was tasty, not so much so that I'll rant and rave and promise to be back next week... but good enough and I certainly won't object to going back! Oh, I got to try a couple of the wings as well - they were VERY good!
