Millionaire bar

I love that you can see where all the magic happens in the kitchen. And the man behind the counter was friendly and helpful. I got the apple strudel and millionaire bar. The bar was really good. The strudel filling was sufficient and had a nice fall flavor profile, but I prefer a flakier dough.

Delicious, Simple, and Friendly. If you need to get a great quick breakfast, this is your place. We had a pastry, cappuccino, and hot chocolate. All were amazing. We liked it so much, we came back for lunch. The sandwiches are the size of my 11 year old head... And only 4€. You can get the sandwich and pastry Cake for 5€. All bread is handmade and sandwiches are prepared to order. Plain or toasted. Fantastic deal! Lastly, we chatted with the baker himself. He was very friendly and was happy to tell us about his lovely baked goods.

The Bakery in Temple Bar makes the best fruit flan. I had two slices today after a collegue brought it into the office for someone's birthday. Mmm! It was so soft and moist and had pretty icing sugar and kiwis on top as decoration. If you fancy not getting your food to go, The Bakery has a delighful seating area on the adorably named Pudding Row. It's in a great location, near the designer market so there's plenty to look at as you sip your tea and enjoy your treat.

Had a coffee and a scone in this place today, was actually quite nice, was expecting to pay over the odds and them to have snooty staff but I was wrong on both counts. Great coffee and friendly service. There was a nuce buzz around Temple bar too and they have a small seating area in the back of the bakery. As Jo says great range of pastries, cakes and all things baked and reasonably priced too.

This was one of my first discoveries when I arrived in Dublin. We were on a break from the Guided Walking Tour of Dublin (which, by the way, I highly recommend), and our rest stop just happened to be outside The Bakery. What amazing pastries! If you're heading through Temple Bar and not keen to fork out for some overpriced Panini or Irish Stew, I recommend popping in here for a snack. The apple turnovers are particularly scrumptious!

Review Highlights - The Bakery

We also tried the Gur Cake which was made of compressed fruit covered by stale bread and white powder coating.

Bread 41 - Potato and chimichurri tart

If you're dining in, you order at the counter and get a table number to place wherever you decide to sit. There's plenty of seating inside which is a plus. What I got: -Potato danish- savory; slight salty, crispy flakey layers. -Sausage roll- slightly salty for my preference, but has a very crispy crust and a meaty sausage in the middle. We went back a second time on our trip and got a few more pastries, all of which were very delicious. The pastries were hot, flakey, glistening, delicate, and perfectly sweet on both visits. I would definitely come back if I were to visit Dublin again.

I didn't wait more than 5/10 minutes. I grabbed a couple of different things for us to try -- the focaccia, morning bun, salted caramel roll, and the cinnamon roll. My favorite was easily the focaccia, which could compete with the best I had in Italy -- so good. The morning bun was good, but nothing crazy exciting. The salted caramel roll had to be the least caramel-y caramel roll I've ever had, but it didn't taste bad and the salted part was interesting (in a good way!). The Cinnamon roll was unique, which I appreciate. It had a big glob of cream cheese frosting (too much for me, but I imagine it would float a lot of folks' boats) and some orange flavoring! I quite liked the orange. I wanted to get a matcha to go, but they said they didn't have disposable cups. You could buy a 5 euro reusable one and then if you brought it back you'd get a refund... interesting, but I was leaving that day and wouldn't be back in the area. I can't speak to the ambiance because we were in and out, but it looked like they had a decent amount of space. All in all, I would recommend this place! For me it was a 4, but I'm sure for some it would bop up to a 5.

It's a small shop, like very small shop so seating is more than extremely limited. That was OK since I knew we would be walking away eating. It's also fun to watch them making donuts right behind the glass in the store. Since there are not to many people inside at any one time and two people behind the counter they are very attentive. I also had a specialty coffee which they make on the spot. There is a great selection of fresh and delicious speciality doughnuts and a "Donut of the day" but we were too late for that. We left and continued our walk only to stop for a minute and use a pail as our table. These donuts are good.... I mean really good. Our need for sweet was satisfied and later I was disappointed that I did not bring back a few more to take on the ship with me. They had so many flavors and styles. Stop in if you're in the area.
