Very good donuts. Many made from sourdough, some cake style too. Many imaginative flavors, and so beautiful. So far we have tried the Coffee & Walnut (coffee filling, coffee glaze, walnut coating) and Dubai, described as "A delightful fusion of Middle Eastern flavours, filled with crunchy, toasted kataifi pastry & rich pistachio cream topped with our handmade ganache & sprinkled with crushed pistachios!" Some of the more outlandish varieties include the Strawberries & Ice Cream Birthday Cake as well as some of the specialties for Easter, brightly decorated with bunnies, easter eggs, and the like. The coffee is very good too, prepared espresso-style (so order an Americano for a plain black coffee). Add to that reasonably prices, friendly service, a cheerful room, what more do you need? A nice selection of artisan donuts. Some seating outside, so you can take a break from all the chaos nearby. Love how creative the flavors are. Blueberry Cheesecake: Definitely the favorite of what we tried. Great mix of fruity jam and rich cream. Nice fluffy dough to carry it all. S'Mores: Loved the pasty cookie butter inside. The marshmallow on top wasn't that gooey and kinda felt out of place. I guess maybe they were trying to simulate graham crackers with cookie butter? Works better if just marketed as a cookie butter donut. Pistachio Creme: A whim decision and so happy that I choose this. We really do need more pistachio flavored desserts, since hazelnut is stealing the spotlight. Nice tang and sweetness. read more

You won't find cake donuts, donut holes, long John's, fritters or old fashioned varieties here. Everything is topped and filled with delightful fillings. Today we tried 3 for 10 Euros; Piña Colada with pineapple cream filling, shaved coconut on top and some dried pineapple pieces, a Ferrero Roche that had tons of chocolaty goodness inside, chocolate frosting with chopped hazelnuts on top, and a classic raspberry filled that had crushed raspberry chunks in the filling. By 1988, the iconic donut stand on O'Connell Street became popular. Now, 40 years later, Michael's daughter Lisa has expanded the brand and now has several store fronts. Vacation calories don't count! Especially when we walk an average of 9 - 10 miles a day while on vacation. The Donut Dawdle, part 2. I was looking out the window of JW Sweetman, just admiring the view of the river and people watching, when my eye chanced to land upon a sign that I thought said something about donuts. I consulted Google and confirmed that yes, that was indeed a donut shop just a block from our current location. We didn't fill up at lunch - a shared appetizer platter and a couple of pints each got us satiated, but not overly full. So, the thought of capping the afternoon meal with a couple of donuts didn't seem like the most terrible idea we'd ever had. The shop was tiny, and the handful of indoor chairs were taken when we walked in. We actually barely had room to squeeze in, as another couple entered right before us, and there wasn't much space to walk, between them and the others sitting in the chairs on the opposite wall. Once again, we went in expecting to buy two donuts, but once at the counter, the girl mentioned it was only a euro or so more to add one more to the order. It was still about a euro more expensive than Offbeat, but we saw the financial logic in adding that third option to our box. Dangit, logic! For this round, I went with the Chocolate Peanut Butter, my husband got the Salted Pistachio, and we got the Coffee Lovers to share. Box in hand, we popped outside and grabbed one of the open sidewalk tables to eat and relax a bit. Remember how we thought we had enough space in our tummies for this extra bit of dough and sweet? Yeah, that turned out to be very untrue. The donuts were good - slightly sweet dough, perfectly balanced toppings and fillings - but it was just too much, too soon. Of course, we're not quitters, so we powered through all three donuts (which worked out to only be a donut and a half each. Heh. *Only*) I liked the chocolate peanut butter version quite a bit. It was stuffed with a chocolate/PB filling, which I wasn't prepared for, but at least this filling ended up in my face, not on my napkin. It was sweet, slightly peanuty, and very gooey. The Coffee Lover was a little on the dry side (maybe I felt that way due to the lack of gooey filling in this one). I was actually quite a bit disappointed to find that the "coffee beans" used to decorate the top of the donut were only chocolate. I really wanted a chocolate-covered coffee bean! My husband meanwhile did like the salted pistachio version, but ended up getting it all over. That donut was incredibly gooey, just due to the caramel-like glaze. This was a good round two of the Donut Dawdle, and another good find. They also have a large selection of vegan donut options, for those that have that dietary requirement. read more

I went to The Rolling Donut on a morning that I was staying at the hostel next door. I got a half a dozen donuts (pictured), but the Molly Malone and vanilla sprinkles were by far my favorite! The vanilla sprinkles donut is a great variation on the classic donut. The icing was just enough, and the actual vanilla donut was great. The Molly Malone was amazing, though! It is cinnamon-apple with vanilla icing. It manages to have flavor instead of just overpowering sweetness, and it tastes even better than an apple pie. I would always order the Molly Malone when returning. The other flavors pictured were great, too, but I am partial to cinnamon and was impressed by the Molly Malone! read more

This was the first place I went to eat when I arrived in Dublin. I was visiting for 4days and I think I got donuts 3 out of the 4 days. They make donuts just how I like them- Doughy. Best. Donut. Ever. Honestly the best donuts I've ever had! Came here on a Saturday morning and it was only a little busy. The staff was super helpful with choosing one of these bad boys! I couldn't decide, too many to choose from! I finally picked out the chocolate peanut butter. My friend got one of the fruity vegan ones, my other friend got the bailey's and my other friend got the lemon. After breakfast, we all devoured our donuts. They were so amazingly good. The dough was perfectly light and sweet, the filling was so rich with chocolate and peanut butter. I was in heaven. Everyone loved their donut and declared these were the best donuts ever. This cozy place was right next to our hostel, making it very convenient for a quick breakfast. We grabbed two cappuccinos and doughnuts for the road.
