Jungle Donut Blew me away. THERE IS FILLING INSIDE THIS RING DONUT! No one expected this! Not only is it super creative, but the chocolate glaze and chocolate filling are delicious, and it's not just Nutella (which is an easy way out to make a donut taste good). Glazed Cronut Perfectly fluffy and buttery. My only criticism is that there was a bit too much thick glaze that took away from the delicate pastry. My cousin has been ranting and raving about this new hybrid pastry for over a year called a Cronut (half croissant/half donut). I happened to notice the Krust bakery last week when I was out and about in town with a friend who also had never tried a Cronut. So we both decided to pop in and try this elusive sticky treat. They have an offer of any coffee and a Cronut for €4.50 which we both got. All I can say is I'll never eat a donut or a croissant again! The Cronut I had here blew the two out of the water! Just as well I don't live in town as I'd be far too tempted by this tasty treat. My review is on the Cronut entirely but the coffee was quite good too and the girl serving was very friendly which was a bonus :-) Will definitely be getting another Cronut from here again and I'm not gonna lie, I'm REALLY looking forward to it! read more

In every new town to which I travel, I make it a point to try a few if the top donut shops in the area. While it's definitely not at the top of the list, Krüst, by far, took the icing (glaze?) In Dublin. The store has a selection of standard donuts but also has a variety of cronuts as well. I tried three donuts - over the course of a couple days - and definitely recommend the Snickers cronut. Ordered 2 platters from here on Saturday for my dance troupe rehersals. I got a mixed box of 12 doughnuts and 12 cronuts. At €60 in total including 2 coffees for the journey to the studio it was an expensive treat but oh my died and gone to sugary food heaven. I wish I hadn't got them because now I know how Devine they are my waistline is going to suffer! I tried the glazed cronut, the ferrero rochet and the Oreo. (Bites of each, not entire portions, which I totally would have done if I'd been on my own with no witnesses!) I ordered these by email at 3am the night before (because I misspelled the original email address at the normal hour of 7pm) and when I went in on Saturday morning at 10am on the button, literally as the doors were opened, the boxes were ready and waiting for me. This place is truly not good for your health but lord have mercy how good their pasteries taste! My favourite is the cronut with white frosting but the caramel and snickers kind is also very tasty. Yummi sandwiches and cakes are plentyfull and they have a great selection of tea and coffee. The employees are kind and helpful and not afraid to try to make something new if you dare to ask them (cortado) Free WiFi and good sofaes makes Krüst a good place to spend a few hours. read more

... Was excited about checking this place out and finally hooking myself up with a Cronut however it just feel a little short of the out of this world experience peeps had been raving about. On a rainy day, slipped in here for a coffee and Cronut, it was only 3:30 or so and the pastry shelves were very deserted looking, very little options/flavours available also my friend asked for a recommendation, the guy seemed startled and didn't know how to respond, tad awkward! Next was me and I picked one out, as he lifted the Cronut half of it stuck to the board it was on and in the end the dude still continued and served me up half a Cronut, half the layers were back in the cabinet :-( plus it was the last of that flavour so I just settled for the half loaded Cronut. From what I tasted, yum and I'd love to see this place stocked and try out another flavour. Excellent staff and service, always so friendly and helpful! Have only had positive experiences visiting the bakery. I had my first Cronut here and loved it, the donuts are good too. They have a nice selection of flavors and everything is fluffy and very fresh. I enjoyed the white hot chocolate and definitely want to try some of their other flavors (Orange & Cinnamon, Rum, Mint... yes, please!) but I wasn't blown away by the Oreo iced latte. They have sandwiches and lots of tasty fresh breads and bagels that I definitely plan on trying in the future. Location is great, very central and convenient to stop by for a coffee and something sweet. Lots of seating including some cozy couches near the window. Nice bright coffee shop at the bottom of George's Street. I had a refreshing iced coffee on a hot sunny day in Dublin if you can beleive the sunny part. Lovely selection of sandwiches and pastries and the shop itself feels airy and comfortable. The prices are very reasonable and about as cheap as anywhere I have been recently. Also got to try a nitro coffee which is not for the faint of heart as it's very strong. read more

The smell as you walk in the door is incredible! Lots of donuts to choose from and it would be a hard decision but I went for a cronut so I chose a chocolate one. This was soft and not too flaky. It was delicious. Also serving up decent coffee. At the back there's a sandwich, salad and pizza counter. All looks fab & fresh. I'd been hearing this name too often not to pop in when I happened upon it. I got a coffee and donut and then ended up caving and buying a Cronut too. And thank God I did because by comparison, the regular donut was almost disappointing! The fad is really worth the hype., it was absolutely delicious. I came here for coffee on a rainy Sunday as I've been meaning to try out this place for a good while. The coffee was pretty good in general, but the guy messed up my order by making a cappuccino when I'd ordered a white americano (don't know how you could mix those up). He only made me the correct drink after I'd asked, so I don't think he noticed the mistake until I had to pay and I questioned him about the price, so I have to take off a star unfortunately. The cafe itself was nice enough, the atmosphere was pretty stale but they have nice couches and a pleasant seating area. The food selection is like a deli with a few sandwiches, and they also sell a lot of pastries like cronuts (apparently Krust is the only retailer of them) and doughnuts, but I'm not a pastry person so I can't exactly comment on those. Overall, decently priced coffee, a variety of pastries and nice seating. The staff were also pretty friendly in general and the location is convenient. read more

Been wanting to go here for soooooo long. Hear great things about the doughnuts so I decided it was time to actually taste them! Wet miserable day in Dublin so I popped in for coffee and doughnut. Following the Down With Teary Tuesday Yelp event at Krust I hear so many amazing things about it that I had to try it. The place is lovely and much nicer than I expected, perfect to spend some time with friends. I had the Cronut, of course, and it was the first one I ever had. I hope they're all like this, because it was incredible! And I was feeling adventurous so I had another first: cold brew coffee. I was warned that it would be strong, but to be honest I've had stronger espresso on the sunnier parts of Europe. But most of all, they're just the friendliest bunch in the world. I first made the acquaintance of Rob, Garret and the rest of the Krüst krew in the cosy original Aungier Street location. So it's great to see that they've opened their second (significantly larger) branch on George's Street - which also happens to be the world's first Smart Coffee Shop. What does that mean, you ask? In their own words: "We didn't just want to launch wireless chargers like Starbucks in America. Nice little cafe with plenty of comfortable seats and the staff were very friendly. It's a bit dark and the decor doesn't really help that. It could do with some brightening up. They have a good selection of sandwiches made to order. The selection of donuts/cronuts/pastries is great. I can't comment on the quality of the sandwiches because I just had a cronut and a latte, both of which were really good. If you don't like things extra extra sweet, you should avoid the glazed cronuts. I loved them! read more

The cronut was sticky, sweet and flaky...total decadence that came wrapped up in a cute little cardboard box to tote around town with me. When I saw they had cronuts I was so excited. Light pillows of crossaint dough cut to donut shape and fried. Then covered as you please. Krust's cronut was however skull soul crushing, while it had a few layers, they were wet, heavy and gluey. Not the Light crispy texture I was hoping for. Thinking maybe it was just the time I went, 10 Sunday morning, I stopped in Monday at 8. My lemon cronut might have been worse than the first (Snickers topped). This time it was quite cold like they are made way ahead and stored in the fridge to get soggy. I am also a lover of good croissants. Krust is consistent here with serving soggy, limp croissants that have no flavour or aroma to suggest the bakery even heard of butter. In summary, Krust serves beautiful looking food that is an utter disappointed. read more

So the doughnuts are great, enough said. I got classic jam, boston creme and cronuts for the office and they disappeared like leaves before locusts. There's plenty more to the #krustexpansion like salads (a la Chopped on Baggot St.), sambos, breads, pizza and coffee. This new spot is only open about ten days. So far so good. I'll be back. I came back. The doughnuts are still great, but, the sambos aren't the "gourmet" I was expecting. It is more like Subway than a Green Bench, Oxmantown or 147 Deli. Also, if you don't want a hot drink, your options are limited to water and some cans of Coke. No fruit juices or anything interesting. This is a new bakery on George Street. I had walked by a couple of times and finally stopped in. I picked up two Gouda cheese rolls and got in line. I waited 10 to 13 minutes to pay for the two euro bread. The place is extremely state-of-the-art, very modern, and they use iPads to check you out. The problem was there was one guy at the register and he made your coffees and checked you out. The line was six or seven people deep. If they continue like this people will just walk 2 meters somewhere else. The guy was really nice when I complained and gave me one of my cheese breads free. but I will seriously think about going there again, especially if I am in a hurry. It's nice to be modern but they also need to be efficient. read more

Krüst Bakery advertises itself as the only place to get some Nitro Cold Brew in Dublin. Having had my share of nitros in New York and LA, I had to give it a shot. Now, I'm not holding Dublin to the same standards, but I figured the first place to serve it in the whole damn city would take some pride in doing it. Fail #1 - Nitro cold brew was served to me in a small PLASTIC cup. I just don't understand. Use a glass! Fail #2 - It wasn't cold. At all. A tad under room temperature at best. Krüst, plz. Y U DO DIS! Nothing more to say than I was disappointed [see photo.] The product itself wasn't terrible (props to those bringing Nitro brews to Ireland), it's just the weak delivery. It's the equivalent of taking an unsettled, lukewarm Guinness in a plastic cup in your hand, and then your mouth -- vom inducing. Please fix this!! Other stuff: - Credit card minimum of 5 euros, otherwise you're charged 30 cents. It's not a lot, but credit card minimums are so played out. Business owner: your margins won't be totally effed, I promise. It's just a huge turn-off for the customer, especially when one of your Cronuts costs 3 euros and you know hardly anyone carries cash anymore. Not cool. - Had the Espanola sandwich. It was decent, but small for 5 Euros. Eh. - Lemon cronut looked fresh and my wife says it was delicious. Cool. - Free, fast Wifi. Cool. read more

Krust was an awesome bakery for my friend and I to go to before class, grab coffee and a cronut, and hang out. We both got lattes and cronuts for 4.50 which is a pretty good deal. The cronut was worth it- it was delicious and I finally understood all the hype! Service was also great- the workers were very pleasant and nice. My only issue was we came a few days before and they were out of cronuts by 2 p.m. so we had to come back a few days later. So make sure you get there early, especially on the weekends. read more

With all the talk of doughnuts these days, it's getting harder and harder to pick a favourite. There are old classics like the Rolling Doughnuts and new ones like Offbeat. I have to say, I think it's hard to beat Krust. The dough is light and fluffy and doesn't veer into being too bready. The icing on top is sweet without being mind-numbingly so, and there's just about enough of it to keep the balance just right. A bad thing in one way as it's pretty impossible not to cram about four of them in your mouth if you end up buying a box or a tray (don't say I didn't warn you!!!) The guys also do customised ones for occasions and work situations which are top notch. read more

One of my favourite cafes in Dublin for many reasons. They serve awesome Marley Coffee, which is always spot on and has three different strengths available. They serve Nitro Cold Brew coffee, a cross between non-alcoholic beer and cold coffee, give it a shot. They are the only people in the city, apart from the Marker hotel to be baking cronuts fresh everyday, and the flavours are awesome! The Oreo cookie one is a fave! They do fresh baked donuts too and fresh baked in-house bread, try their pretzels or a toasted cheese sambo in their cheesy bread rolls. There is plenty of seating, and extra area downstairs too. They do bargain student deals and really tasty, big, creative, sandwiches. The staff are fricken awesome too, always smiling and very chilled. The staff are always happy to see you, and will happily chat away about their recommendations and life in general. Great Study Spot & Student Discount. Perfect place to cozy up and get some work done. As a Trinity student, it is the best place within a five minute walk to grab a sandwich or latte and concentrate.
