Chose this place for all its 5-Star ratings and they are definitely well deserved! Great experience from the moment I walked in the door. Right after I checked in Andrew came over to introduce himself and apologize that he was running a bit behind schedule, so he offered a complimentary deep condition while I waited. Really nice staff at reception and assisting with the shampoo/condition. Andrew was incredibly friendly and personable. When I told him I wanted to make a big change and chop off my long hair for the first time in 8 years, he asked all the right questions to make sure I was confident in the decision and that he understood what I wanted, advising on what he thought would work best. We had a nice conversation and the cut turned out great- looked amazing after his blowout and styling. I waited to leave a review until after I'd showered and self-styled a couple times, and I'm still loving the cut. For DC the price is also really reasonable. Since he's been cutting my hair, I've had short hair styles and long hair styles and loved them all. He is always down to give me a simple trim or put on his thinking cap and do something new. After twenty years in DC trying all the top salons in GT, downtown, and more recently around 14th st, finally landed on a spot that combines expert color/cuts, great customer service, a very nice and efficient team, and a lovely space. It's on par price wise with other high end salons, but lacks the noise, pretense, chaos and impersonal service. Anyone with highlights knows that switching stylists comes with risk. My longtime stylist recommended another stylist when she moved, so I started going to that person thinking she would keep doing my hair the same way. Fast forward a few months, and my hair had gone from dirty blonde to bright yellow and grew out noticeably in about 6 weeks. After a year and half of thinking I shouldn't change it up because anyone new could be worse, I decided to make the switch to Burrow. Enders immediately fixed the yellow tone and made my highlights blend in with my natural color again. I thought it would take multiple visits to get my hair back to what it had been before, but he did it in one visit. He makes recommendations specific for each person rather than going with a one-size-fits-all approach to highlights. I also no longer get the hard line where my base shows after a few weeks. I've been able to switch from getting my hair done every 8 weeks to waiting 10 weeks between visits, and even at 10 weeks my hair looks better than it did at any point before I started coming to him. You know something is good, when you almost don't want to share the secret with everyone else, but... The Burrow is honestly the best hair salon in DC! I had my hair cut and colored by Enders who is a GENIUS with blondes. After moving from New York, I have had such a difficult time finding someone who can take care of my (very) dyed blonde hair, so finding Enders was such a blessing. He really took the time to make sure I was comfortable and happy. I have never had someone talk me through everything in such detail and he even sat down with me while my color was setting for about 20 minutes to go through photos of what tone of blonde would look good for my face and complexion. He was so sweet, and most importantly, knowledgeable. I walked away with healthy feeling, not brassy blonde hair for a really reasonable price. I have spent hours researching salons in DC and I truly believe you won't find more reasonable pricing. It's been about a week and my cool-toned blonde hair looks just as good as it did when I left the salon. Not to mention I've gotten tons of compliments. Other pros: salon was super clean AND complimentary wine! I just love Enders. Just went back for my third visit today. I moved to DC about 2 years ago. It's scary looking for a new stylist when you move to a new city--I left CA after 10 years where I had my favorite stylist who knew exactly what I wanted for my blonde hair--but I'm SO lucky I found Enders. Three main reasons I'm a big Enders fan: 1. The color! I was a towhead blonde growing up and I am struggling (ie. Refusing!) to give up my blonde identity with my hair getting slowly darker as I get older. But I don't want it to look fake! I hate streakiness or when the color fades or gets brassy. Oh Enders... Enders is an artist. On my first visit, he listened to me patiently, we reviewed color options and methods (streaks?? Balayage?? I had no idea...) together carefully, he talked me through exactly what he was going to do, and what I got was better than anything my CA stylist had ever done. 2. Length! I'm a scaredy cat about getting too much cut off, and Enders always goes slowly to make sure I'm comfortable with how much he's snipping. Thoughtful and does a great job. 3. Him! I am terrible and get my hair done barely more than once a year, and Enders hasn't scolded me like previous stylists. Just takes my hair and gives me a miracle. He also has an incredible story, is a thoughtful, kind human, and his drive and passion for what he does blows me away and inspires me. Full disclosure: I really struggled with wanting to post this because I want Enders all for myself :) but he deserves nothing but success, so I suppose I'm okay sharing. To anyone who follows my advice and goes to see him, you're welcome in advance ;) Lastly just to give the Burrow as a whole a plug, the others who do hair there also seem to be insanely talented. I had a haircut and balayage with Enders yesterday and let me just say... the reviews on here didn't lie. If you want blonde, he is your man. I wanted blonde hair a few years ago and went several times and spent a ton of money with different stylists trying to get a color I wanted. Every time, it was streaky and yellow and I hated it. Eventually, I had it dyed back to a brown that I didn't really like, but it was better than my blonde and I was tired of spending money on it. And to top all that off, the last time I had it done, the person cut about five inches more than I wanted off. So, nobody had touched my hair in about three years. It was long and definitely didn't look great. I was really hesitant to get anything done to my hair but I'm SO GLAD I DID. Enders and I talked for about 20 minutes before he started. I had several pictures I liked but no clear idea of what I really wanted. I basically told him the 25 things I didn't want and he made magic happen. For the first time ever, I actually LOVED my hair when I saw it after being dried. Seriously, if you want blonde or balayage but are hesitant because you had an experience like mine, go to him!!!! He's amazing! I wanted ashy blonde and was told by so many stylists that they couldn't get my hair that color. but boom, Enders got the perfect, subtle, ashy blonde balayage. Oh, and the haircut is phenom as well. And he is so nice and actually listens to what you want instead of interrupting to tell you what he thinks you should do or that he can't do it. Pics attached.
