For once, I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I cannot say enough great things about my experience at The Burrow. I came in because I realized my hair was starting to take on an orange, brassy tone. Enders did an AMAZING job fixing it (even with my killer thick hair). I ended up getting 3/4 foil, toner, and a conditioning treatment. My hair turned out soft, blonde, and incredibly natural looking. During my appointment, everyone was so friendly and made me feel at home. I can't imagine ever finding a better place to get my hair done...already counting down the days until I go back! read more

Obsessed with this salon! The best service and the best employees. I love the interior of the salon itself. It's light, beautiful, cozy. I always like coming to The Burrow! I've been there twice and I will always come back. The hairdressers always do an amazing job and they make sure it works for you. read more

When you find a good hairdresser - you follow them. You follow them wherever they may go. Andrew is my guy. He went to join some people he loved working with, and I followed. There was easy, online appointment booking. Not having to make a phone call is my favorite! I drove into the city and while parking was not "a breeze" - there is plenty of onstreet metered parking and within a minute or two I found a spot, and used parkmobile to pay. You walk up the stairs into a beautiful space. Exposed brick. Huge wooden framed mirrors. Black chairs. Hair wash stations that seem like magic! You sit down, there's a towel, and then as you sink back, the leg support is electronically raised to sweep you off your feet! Makes for a much more relaxed hair washing experience. There are lots of great little touches. Even the soap in the bathroom smells great. The staff I didn't know were also friendly and competent! (my favorite combination) When I set up my next appointment I also got a text with date and time so I didn't have to worry about jamming it into my calendar right there. (as of now) they also let you tip on your card which I love. I had cash just in case, but sometimes forget to think ahead and its a great convenience. While I'm always thrilled with Andrew's work, I also love the new salon!!! read more

I never write Yelp reviews but I had to for this! I was way behind in my bleach maintenance and Jen did magic- I've seriously never had my highlights blended so well! She did everything I wanted and was honest with me on what would look best (and she was right) . She is so funny, has the best attitude, and knows how to make people feel comfortable! Looking forward to coming back read more

Got a trim with Andrew and he somehow managed to cut the perfect side "swoop" back into my hair that my other stylists have not understood that I wanted to see in my hair! Even though I was a few mins late he was gracious, attentive, and understood what I was coming in for. I have thick hair and he effortlessly took out the bulk and set it up for growing out nicely. He even gave me his suggestions for what to do with my highlights if I were to come back again. Guess what, I will be back and take him up on his suggestion! Bonus: he's a bonafide "dog person", and those are the people I trust most! Thanks for a wonderful first experience! Side note: tipping on Venmo feature was also a welcome surprise because I never carry cash! read more

I needed a haircut before COVID started back in March, so to say I was long overdue for a haircut is understating things. I showed up with a vague idea of what I wanted (I literally didn't even have reference photos) and Shaneya gave me a perfect cut and color. Shaneya is very talented and so sweet. I've gotten many different dye jobs and hair styles done over the years, but this is one of my absolute favorite looks. They properly spaced out patrons and stylists, and everyone was properly wearing masks the entire time. I'll definitely be going back and I cannot thank Shaneya enough! read more

I get excited every time I go to the Burrow, and not just for the fantastic hair cut. Everyone is just so lovely, makes me feel welcome, and makes me want to hang out there for the rest of the afternoon. I love Enders and the whole team! read more

I've been going to Enders at The Burrow for some time now and love my haircut each time I go! He really takes the time to make sure your hair looks its best. Would recommend this place to anyone living in D.C., overall great experience, and you will leave loving your new do! read more

I've been living in DC for almost a year now and after trying a new salon/barber every time I get my haircut, I've finally found my place! The Burrow is amazing! I have short hair and as a queer woman with short hair, it is difficult to find someone who knows what to do with it. I have had many an awkward cut from barbers and salon staff at other establishments, but I was immediately reassured when I set foot in The Burrow. Leah was an absolute joy to talk with and asked questions along the way to make sure the cut was what I wanted. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and we worked from there. She was talkative, but not too talkative which is great. The shop is small and they will offer you a drink upon entering. Everyone I interacted with was super professional and helpful. If you're looking for your permanent salon, this is it! I will be recommending The Burrow and Leah to everyone I know! read more

I have trust issues with my hair... but let me tell you - I ADORE Enders. My tight group of girlfriends all agree: when one of us found Enders, we ALL found Enders. Now he has been cutting my hair for about four years! I appreciate his expertise and skill - I have always walked away thrilled with my cut, pep in my step, and with renewed self-confidence. I basically feel like I'm Lemonade-ing out of the salon. Enders, Ryan, and the rest of the Burrow team really go above and beyond to make their clients happy in their new salon (which is stunningly beautiful!). I have known them since their previous location and would follow Enders anywhere. I am devastated to be moving from DC but plan to come back to have my hair cut by him whenever I am back in town so I can get my Beyonce strut on! read more

This salon is amazing. The staff is professional and friendly and this was a great experience from start to finish. The shampoo wash was HEAVENLY. My hair was cut by Leah and she was amazing. She listened to what I wanted but also offered her professional opinion and she answered my questions throughout our appointment. At most salons I've been to I feel rushed and unvalued but Leah spent so much time with me and really worked with me to get my hair to where I wanted it. Wow. I'm so grateful to have finally found a salon in DC that is really reasonably priced AND amazing. Such a great little salon. read more

I am so THRILLED with my new blonde hair! Enders went the extra mile to make it perfect and correct my previous coloring! It looks great, has added a ton of dimension, and he nailed the coloring. I've been getting a ton of compliments and plan for him to be my only stylist in DC. Go see Ender! read more

Shaneya did a wonderful job on my balayage! My hair looks exactly like the inspiration photo I showed her. Highly recommend!

I had Enders give me a cut this week, and I'm happy to say I think I've found my salon in DC! I came in desperately needing a trim, and wasn't really sure what I wanted. Enders talked me down from getting lots of layers, after confirming that I'm more of a wash and quick blow dry type of person. He took some length off and gave me some texture, and showed me how to style waves into my hair with a flat iron. The space is bright and cozy. Finally, the price can't be beat for the quality of the cut. I love that you can use Venmo for tips, since I ALWAYS forget to bring cash and then have to frantically look for a nearby atm. read more

Enders did an amazing job with my balayage. All I knew was that I wanted an ashy, light color and Enders did the rest. He is a pro at his balayage art! If you're looking for a great color and cut check out this place! Can't wait to see him again! read more

The Burrow - Pre- Balayage - Hair Salons Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

See all

I recently saw Andrew for balayage and I am unhappy with the result. My hair was already quite blonde on the ends and my roots were quite dark so I asked for a softer, more natural look (while also covering my greys). The end result was orange hair. When I returned to the salon to have my colour fixed (after a holiday & an emergency haircut abroad) Andrew got his assistant to put through a toner. My hair is now a flat muddy brown. I was asked to blow dry my own hair at the end of the appointment because Andrew was too busy. I paid $275 to have my hair done at the Burrow & I wished that I didn't bother. read more

I went for my second visit (summer hair color was fading away and turning orange) but this time due to scheduling conflicts I went with Leah- which turned out amazing. Leah was very attentive and great with recommendations. I accidentally booked a wrong coloring session which only allowed much less time than balayage would require but Leah made it work. I learned all about the art of glossing?! Glazing?? I also really appreciated how she allowed me to express what I liked about the color/not like about the color on a first try so she went out of her way to gloss again (which she took notes every step of the way and put it on my profile for the next time) which resulted in me walking out with the exact (perfect) shade of color I wanted. I really appreciated her service and personality because I would've walked out with the color that resulted on a first try with a small amount of regret not being able to express myself. I can't wait to be back! Thanks Leah! read more

I have been debating a long time whether to write this but I finally decided it needs to be said. Be careful with Enders. He is talented but has chosen to be overworked rather than dedicated to his craft and his customers. He gave me a great haircut but I left him after he made me cry in his chair. Enders was my hairdresser long enough that I followed him to the Burrow from his old salon. He gave me a wonderful cut - which is not always easy because I have very thick straight hair with a slight wave. I adored his cuts. I also had him do highlights but would patch in the roots on my own at home between bouts of his nice but expensive color sessions. When he moved to the Burrow, I followed him. But he got some good write ups and the salon was doing well and soon he was booked several weeks out. I had always been able to get an appointment with him with a week or two notice but one time I called and he could not fit me in for a cut for six weeks! There wasn't even any attempt to squeeze me in. When my appointment rolled around, I told him I had been unable to get an appointment with him and he just shrugged and said "I can't help it if I am so popular." I was not thrilled with that, but decided to just make sure I had appointments well in advance. The next appointment, we talked about the need to recolor my hair. He told me to book an appointment for a "full head" so there would be enough time. I did that. When I went that day, we talked about highlights and possibly lowlights and he did his thing. He knew I had a wedding to go to that weekend and I wanted to look good. Two hours later he unveils my highlights and my roots are dark, so I look all stripey. When I asked him about it, he said "Well you didn't book the roots!" So I am sitting there, knowing I am about to spend close to $300, and I asked him what I was supposed to do. He told me to go to CVS on the way home and get color for the roots. He even told me what shade to buy. I sat there for a few minutes trying to work this out. He was acting like this was normal. I am a woman in my 50s and have been cutting and coloring my hair for a long time. I'd never experienced leaving the salon with my hair half done before. Could it be that he was right and I just didn't know how this works? I said to him that he gives me the best haircut I've ever had, but he should have said something to me if he saw that i needed roots and he was not planning on doing that. He could have said something and told me what it would cost. Instead, he was sending me out without. His response was to get defensive and say "well you don't do your roots with me. you haven't even done color with me this year!" then he loudly calls across the salon to the receptionist and says "when was the last time she came in for color? and how many times was she here this year?" This was August. the receptionist said I'd had him do my color twice that year so far. So I am in his chair, feeling berated, shamed, vulnerable and cheated. I couldn't understand why my hairdresser had turned on me and why he felt the need to humiliate me like that. He finished blowing my hair and I paid the bill ($300 with tip) and then went straight to CVS on my way home to finish my haircolor. It looked great. But the feeling that someone had really mistreated me persisted. I have not gone back to Enders since. I am still looking for someone who can give me a great haircut. But I will not mortify my soul for that. Enders, you were unprofessional, abusive and downright mean. Shame on you. read more

Wonderful service and very skillful stylists! I've had haircuts by Ryan and Enders and each time I LOVE the results. The vibes are so calm and friendly and professional. The shop is perfectly clean and all of the staff are kind and helpful. 110% would recommend! read more

Best salon in DC, hands down!! I've been suffering from yellow/brassy, ugly "blonde" hair color for almost a decade. I kept going to different places, trying salon after salon, and getting the same unsatisfying results. The hair gods finally heard me and led me straight to Enders at the Burrow. He is the first hair stylist who made my hair look exactly the way I always wanted it to. If you have a blonde mess you need to fix, don't think twice - just sign up for appointment with Enders. You won't be disappointed. read more

They are absolutely fantastic! Super nice, friendly, professional, and do an amazing job. I went right after everything reopened and they extremely clean and careful. Everyone wears a mask at all times and they clean right after you touch anything. They do a very light hair dry at the end so not to spread germs. Andrew always cuts my hair and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a hair stylist in dc area. He's always extremely personable and even makes a point to remember his clients. Overall, a phenomenal salon. read more

I followed Enders over to the Burrow when he left Bang and opened his new salon. I've been going to him for a total of 6 years now. He's so great for me. I have dark, long hair. Enders works his magic with balayage, color melt, and beautiful cuts. xoxo read more

I love the Burrow! I moved to DC in 2016 and it took me 2 years to finally find a salon that I feel comfortable in. Even my husband goes here now. I always see Enders, while my husband has a less flexible schedule and has booked with multiple people. Decent prices for DC, excellent stylists, and a nice atmosphere. I should also mention that my husband and I are on two ends of the spectrum in terms of hair. He has thick, thick hair, while I have fine hair. The same amount of attention is given to both of us despite the differences in hair type. read more

If you're a blonde run to Enders. He's the bomb and gave me amazing ashy blonde highlights. Cheaper and way better than my previous salon. read more

I've been with Enders for years and happily followed him to The Burrow as soon as it opened. What I really love about this salon is the fact that every stylist is great. If I get in a predicament and am not able to get Enders for the service I need at a specific time, I can rely one of the other stylists to help me out. I was recently overdue for some balayage while Enders was away on vacation and Shaneya did an excellent job. New mom here who was in desperate need of a cut and new color. I'm new to DC, so tried The Burrow out based on good Yelp reviews. Definitely left a happy customer. Shaneya was my stylist, I showed her a picture of the color I was aiming for, and explained what kind of layers I wanted and she delivered. Clean salon with a relaxing vibe, twas nice to feel relaxed for a moment in time. I'll definitely be back. read more

I really couldn't be happier with my experience with Ryan at The Burrow! When I emailed them about my hair idea I received a quick response, and Jarrell was very helpful on the phone, working with my schedule to make an appointment. The salon is beautiful, with funky light fixtures and a warm vibe. Ryan is an amazing professional who worked to understand what I really wanted and executed it better than I could have hoped for. He took time and care with my appointment, making sure everything was perfect. Everyone in the salon seemed to really work as a team and support each other, a very nice environment to be in. And they provided champagne in the process, which is always a bonus! Overall I couldn't be happier with my hair and my experience. Will definitely return! Attached is a before and after of my hair. I can't stop looking at it I love it so much read more

Wonderful space and atmosphere. I was running very late for my appointment but the staff was incredibly kind and understanding! I was so grateful that they kept my appointment, especially as it ultimately required them to stay past closing! I came to The Burrow without having had my hair colored in years. I moved to the area almost two months ago to start a graduate program, which was stressful enough. But to find someone who could give me a flattop was REALLY stressing me out. After scouring the internet, I found The Burrow, and Andrew. He is awesome! He got my hair back in shape again, and my classmates noticed. I texted a photo to the guy in my home city who has been cutting my flattop for years and he, too, was impressed and happy to see that I found Andrew. Definitely will be back! read more

The reviews are 150% true -- this place is a gem! I went in for a super easy haircut (read: fine, straight hair / bangs / no coloring etc) and Andrew did a wonderful job. At other salons I've had stylists that are so focused on cutting that they can't keep a conversation and that so wasn't an issue here. Loved every moment of chatting with Andrew and came out with a super cute update to my 'do too. Can't wait to return! read more

Walk ins are not welcome as mentioned!!! Just spoke to them and they said that they go by booking only!!! Also very bad customer service on the phone.. - to prove my point please read his reply to me (btw the actual person who contacts you isn't Ryan) instead of mending the situation, they are competitive with the customer and challenging. Also, it proves that Walk ins are not welcome :) Very disappointing! read more

I love coming in to see Enders & the rest of his team! Since a friend's recommendation several years ago, he's the only one I trust with my hair.
