bbq wings and 14 karat wings
Valentine B.

This is my to-go bar in the area. The wings in this establishment are the best around. I loved 14K wings, now my new favorite is cherry bbq wings! They are absolutely delicious! I keep coming back for more!! Other food on their menu are good such as the Brussels sprout salad or flatbread. The staff (bartender and waiting staff) is nice and friendly. The bar also organizes event like Jazz night and live music on Friday nights. It is a very chill bar for locals. I wish they had a better cider selection. I am big cider fan, and I wish I could find more to drink than Stella (yes, I love Stella cidre, but l also appreciate a variety of other ciders).

BBQ chicken pizza. Left more to be desired.24 kt wings are delicious.

Pizza was nasty. The 24kt wings were delicious. Customer service was meh. No reason to return!

The Brown Derby, Poughkeepsie has no whimsical architecture; not shaped like a piece of head gear the building is historic and website is good including some Sinatra "New York, New York" background music (stand by for the RIAA bust). This place is legit. CIA graduate chef and full of character. The original bar is from 1902 (prohibition was repealed in 1933, you do the math) and is a beaut. This is Poughkeepsie's oldest operating bar and grill. The present restaurant is described as a "posh casual" dining and drinking establishment. Service is great, the menu is diverse and everything appears high quality and reasonable. I just had a burger which was very good. Taps change often and include some great seasonal brews by Saranac, Brooklyn among others. Didn't try the pizza but it looks good as well. I'll be back.

I don't know if the Derby has a new chef, but the food the last couple of visits has been REALLY improved. Super happy with the flank steak & SO with his salmon, as well as amazingly attentive service in the jazz 'pit'. Love having such an amazing venue/ night in our backyard!

After walking through the busy bar you enter a spacious private room that includes a bar and personal music system. Pat, the event coordinator, was amazing every step of the way, very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. The personal wait staff for the party was great, always around and ready. What I was most pleased with was the food. People always remember the food from the party and the food provided from Mahoneys and their kitchen staff was great. The penne vodka was flavorful and creamy and the chicken Marsala complimented it well. The party was around 60 people and we had plenty of food, people went up for 2nd and 3rd and we still had leftovers. And did I mention affordable?? Like I said before, amazing experience definitely recommend for anyone throwing a small party, between the food, service and space they knocked it out.

I love this place!…read more We came here for a comedy show on Saturday and decided to try some of their food. I went with the Shrimp cocktail and the shrimp used were just perfect! I am always scared when ordering shrimp cocktail due to the fact some establishments use crap grade shrimp, well not this place, they were spectacular. I believe many of the chefs I read graduated from the Culinary Institute of America which is located extremely close to this restaurant, and this could be part of the reason why their food game is on point. My girlfriend got the beef stew, and they gave ample portions of meat with delicious gravy and the mashed potatoes were nothing to sneeze at either. I got a couple Jack and Diet's and the upcharge for a double is not that bad, at the time of writing this I believe it is a four-dollar upcharge. Also got a merlot and it was fresh and delightful. If I lived closer to this place, I would be here all the time. There are several colleges near here, so I assume the vibe is great as well if you are looking to come and have a good time. The train station literally shares there parking lot so if you plan on partaking in a good time with drinks and spirits it would be a good idea to just train it over. As always people SYOY, and if you live even remotely close to Mahoney's, visit often for me! Cheers!!

They even have a dock where you can tie up your boat if you should choose to come by way of the river. We made a dinner reservation and were greeted and seated immediately. Our waiter offered drinks. brought the menus and took our order very quickly and we enjoyed the views while we waited. The menu features the standard pub style items plus an unusually large variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. We sampled the Jambon et fromage version of the grilled cheese and it was excellent, as was the fish and chips. The ladies room is a fun homage to Frozen with "Let it Go" playing on repeat. The bar area was really hopping by the time we left around 7:00 and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for crowd pleasing menu items and great cocktails with a view.

Location right along the water is dreamy and I could see it being a destination for outdoor seating. Too cold tonight, so we were seated inside. We had a reservation and the host initially attempted to seat us right next to the bathroom, but we requested another table by the window and were accommodated. We had impeccable service. Brooke was friendly and attentive with great recommendations. Cocktail menu changes seasonly and had lots of interesting choices. Both cocktails I ordered were good. Major downfall of the food was the tomato soup. We were warned that some people find it spicy, and it had a bit of a kick but was not overly spice. The flavor however, was something else. It was really dark red and had the consistency of marinara sauce and did not taste very tomato-y at all. We could not finish it, even after adding some sour cream. Our entrees were much better. The smashburger truly was a smash burger and was quite tasty as was the side salad. La Trempete Francaise (basically a French dip) was advertised having horseradish sauce but there was precious little on the bun. Much better after I requested more sauce. Served with sweet potato fries that were coated in sugar, so I didn't care for that. Music was quite loud. Not so loud you couldn't have a conversation, but a persistent pulsing beat at all times. And I could definitely see that as a turn off for some. All it all, we'd go back.
