I was flabbergasted this afternoon when I asked the bartender if he would ask the beer truck that was delivering to them to move from the ambulance zone in which they were parked. My colleagues and I came here after a work event on a Thursday around 4 P.M. Upon arriving, we were the only ones inside- but met with friendly, accommodating service throughout our time here. Upon arrival, there was two bartenders on staff- which were a little overwhelmed as we all wanted cocktails & around five of us wanted speciality cocktails. Despite being overwhelmed, they were both attentive and willing to make any signature cocktails we ordered. The majority of the group went for the "Love Margarita," in honor of Cinco de Mayo. We all enjoyed this drink as it did not taste overly pineapple and was well-balanced. Despite not trying any, the bar had a large amount of beer to choose from as well! The inside is cute- has the feel of a library meets dive bar look, with one main bar. As we were finishing up, the place seemed to right get a bit crowded, with more larger groups arriving (around 5:45 P.M.). In terms of food, we had some appetizers split between our group, who was all satisfied. The food came out fast and overall was okay. We got the nachos, the pickle sampler, and two pretzels. The pickles were a little confusing as to which flavor belonged to which as none were labeled and some flavors were difficult to distinguish. The pretzel was quite small, when we were expecting more of a homemade biergarten pretzel. While it was not bad, it was not that- so we did not quite feel the price justified the portion there. The nachos were definitely the star of the show! Pros: good specialty cocktails & atmosphere Cons: food is just alright! Overall, I'd definitely come back to here for some drinks, but may not get as many apps in the future. read more

Came in for Happy Hour, to be honest probably wouldn't come back. The drink options are okay, the prices ($8 for a well) was why we picked it. They were strong but I couldn't drink more then one, not balanced at all. We ordered the nachos for two. On a positive note the pork carnitas was very good. If the rest of the nachos were as good, the rest of the nachos was just sad. It's like they think throwing on a fancy radish (watermelon radish) and some micro greens is going to impact the taste. When the cheese is siezed up the minute we get it and half the chips don't even have cheese, the rest of the nachos is just sad. In the photo I took, literally took jt when it came out, the cheese was already hard and sad. Should have ordered the carnitas tacos instead. read more

So, I came back here with some of my former co-workers because it's still nearby my old work. The beer selection has definitely tried to go more local and I appreciate that, a lot more NY state and city beers. My last review mentioned how I hadn't tried the food here yet and this time I was both hungry and thirsty. I started out getting the Sunset Park sliders, and really liked the pickles in it. I was still hungry so I went with the kimchi dog and I was super prepared to hate it. I really hate the 'let's just put kimchi on everything' school of thought to upgrade pub food. I was pretty surprised at it, the kimchi was really good, and the chili sauce added a spicier kick that was balanced out well by the mayo. The upgraded beer list and after having tried the food out is an added star from me. read more

Has a dive bar vibe and the service leaves much more to be desired. It was pretty empty at 6pm, but filled up soon after. There's one waitress and one bartender for the entire place and it was incredibly hard to grab their attention. Also, when we requested any drink other than a beer, they would immediately say they can't make that. We asked for an Aperol Spritz and a whiskey drink (both we could very clearly see on the shelves behind the bar) and only after we pointed out they had the ingredients, they allowed it. Meet a friend here for drinks we got here just in time to grab a table right before the place got a bit crowded, late happy hour was our reason for stopping by. Drinks we started with w the Brooklyn lager pumpkin ale beer this was great, nice & cold. Next we gave the beer flight a try our choices were Kelso, Ommegang , Montauk brewery & the Brooklyneer ... they line them up from dark to light to begin the Kelso nut brown lager not bad decent taste, next the Ommegang not sure what rare vos is? But this one was great tasting my fav of the 4 the Montauk brewery was ok wasn't too crazy about the after taste & the Brooklyneer Cider tasted more like wine w bubbles. We gave the Cheddar pretzel a try good pretzel nice & warm, good dipping sauce liked the honey mustard dressing. Small place, interesting mixed crowd... good music playing. I was so looking forward to really liking this place! But they apparently don't have a menu (which the website says they have), I went to the restroom with a half filled pint of beer (really) and a glass of water on the bar that they took away in the three minutes it took me, and when I paid in cash they assumed the overage was a tip. Damn bro. You have to bring back change even if it will likely be your tip. The good news is I'll never go there again. Beer selection is legit though so if you go pay for each round in cash and ask for change. read more

Went for Good Beer Passport Dinner Food - 4/5. The hot dog was pretty plain; no real crispiness to the skin or meaty texture. The toppings were great with the kimchi adding a refreshing umami flavor while the mayonnaise and dollops of hot sauce added creaminess and spice. Service - 5/5. The bartender was very friendly and explained to us every draft beer with great detail. He made recommendations with great patience and offered to have the hot dog cut. Great service! Value - 4/5. Very chillll bar with possibly the best nachos I have ever had in my life - get it with the chicken you won't regret it .... the Love margarita they had on their menu was a little too sweet from the pineapple -- I highly suggest the rosemary greyhound instead and sub out the liquor for your choice . The veggie burger was also the best veggie burger I ever had in my life ??? I honestly couldn't believe how good it was . My friend even ordered one for himself after tasting it. The bar here gets really crowded so expect to wait to order a drink, I waited about 20 mins before the bartender took my order. Really liked this place. The vibe was upbeat but not overwhelming or too loud. The staff was friendly and attentive and the crowd was chill. I ordered an Empire cream ale (all draughts are from New York State breweries) and it was tasty, followed by a glass of Buffalo Trace (reasonably priced). Fun bar in Soho, can be pricey but a solid bar for going out with friends for the evening. I don't think they have food but can be a fun before dinner or after dinner spot. Came in on a Wednesday night after watching a taping of Watch What Happens Live! - great choice. It was a random stop just to grab a drink as we meandered our way back to mid-town, but ended up closing down the bar! Met some great people and had great conversation. We went in to try to check this place out and the security guard was really rude to us. We couldn't hear what he said as we were searching for our IDs, so he inappropriately taunt us for not closing the door while we search for our ID. Would have tried the food and the beer but the poor security guard prevented us from having a good experience. Please properly train your security guard to pay respect to your customer. read more

I recently went here for a private event, and had to rave about the one bartender, Dorian. AMAZING! I'll get to that later. The space is cool, very Brooklyn-esque. It's right next to the subway which is nice (the 1 train). I tried their chicken tacos, their veggie burgers and their soft pretzels which were all tasty snacks. The cheese baked pretzel was really tasty. Food was good, like I said, snack food. Dorian is amazing. I asked him to make me a vodka based drink and he totally crushed a cucumber vodka martini. (I don't know even know the name of the drink, but I had everyone drinking it by the end of the night). Very chill space, super casual, a bit hipster, but I enjoyed myself. Came to this bar for a birthday party and I truly don't understand how it's popular? The DJ was horrible. The "music" he was playing literally sounded like his equipment was malfunctioning and it was just scratching noises with beats. Terrible beats at that. The whole vibe was odd. Way too crowded to move. Not joking it was worse than being stuck on the 6 train during rush hour. Drinks were not special. I ordered a vodka soda and it was very watered down but served in a slim glass with a slice of lime. I might have enjoyed myself more if I couldn't hear the music and was blacked out drunk. Hip but casual, The Brooklyneer really does have the neighborhood feel of a 718 joint more often found in places like Prospect Heights and Williamsburg. There's even a [manager or owner?] sporting a serious mid-aughts hipster beard to lend street cred to the prime conceit. But beyond the "Brooklyn" schtick , the Brooklyneer is just an all-around solid bar. Or maybe it is on Mother's Day Sunday afternoons, like the one when I popped in to nurse a post MD brunch hangover with some hair of the dog boozing. It was a mid-afternoon lull between brunch and dinner when even Manhattanites takea break from group drinking, which made for a pleasantly laid-back experience. On tap where several Brooklyn Brewery libations, with a smattering of wheat beers and summer ales well geared to the season. I tried an Empire Cream Ale, which was smooth and not too filling despite the name. We briefly perused the attractive and affordable brunch menu, contemplated a second brunch in one day (what's the record?) and ultimately decided to move to A.O.C. Bistro for a more robust selection of foodstuffs. But they did offer us a $35 all-you-drink boozy brunch. It was a "special promotion," so keep an eye out if you're into Bloody Marys and Mimosas. read more

I came here Saturday with my coworkers after to work to unwind and several things occurred, the worst being the waitress being rude while attempting to close out our bill before even asking us if we were finished, it was fairly early (12 they close at 4) and we're at a table vibing not sorting signs of leaving, exhaustion or emergency to go. When we looked at the total ($555) we realized we were overcharged a round of drinks. After bringing it to her attention she began to give us more attitude, suck her teeth then say she wasn't the one who served us and how she and the other bartenders are sober and so that proves the total was correct. We were not drunk, extremely pleasant and in good spirits just confused and not wanting to pay for drinks we didn't consume . After several attempts on our behalf to settle this mistake I finally asked to speak to her manager, she stormed off again and brought back the corrected total $442. We paid and left, my card was charged and she attempted to also charge my coworkers card but her bank declined due to fraudulent suspicion. I never thought I would be almost scammed like that, especially since we usually have a great time. Made me wonder how many times have I been actually intoxicated and overcharged. read more

Zero stars. Really suspicious and weird experience. The bartenders are rude with horrible customer service. They let a homeless man into the bar who came up to my table and harassed and started fighting with us and the bar did absolutely nothing to help young girls who were being threatened. Then to top it all off they tried to scam us!!! Came up to us out of nowhere and said they tried to close my tab?? I've never had a bar close my tab voluntarily... it was early and we were unwinding after a work day not planning on closing up yet. We asked to get the receipt and see they charged us for 4 extra drinks!!! $550!!! The bartender started arguing with us when we told them about the mistake. They were so rude "I'm sober and you're not". We knew what we drank and they tried to take advantage of us. We insisted we knew exactly how many rounds we got and they said they'll have to get the boss with attitude. She returns a few minutes later and slams the receipt on the table with our correct tab without saying a word and storms away. My only complaint was when asking for a drink I wanted, the server came back several minutes with another drink because she didn't know a gin fizz required an egg white and that the bar didn't have any... Nice local place. They need to figure out how to use their thermostat though; I've been here twice and it's felt like being in a sauna both times! The bouncer is sweet and awesome. Like the bar staff, very friendly! Go for their spin on the Old Fashion. YUM! read more
