This is a solid bar. I don't think they always have a bunch of Fernet reps pouring way more shots than I expected to take on a school night, but I wasn't sad about it. I do think they always have delicious fries, chill bartenders, and a lot of good vibes. I've been 3 times. Once on a date, once with friends, and once with coworkers. I've had just drinks, dinner, and lunch, respectively. Each time was great. The food is actually good quality. The fries are crisp and slightly salty but in a good way. The cheese quesadilla was actually filling and there was enough sauce. The grilled cheese was great as well. Great place to watch sports in NYC. The beer is cold and there are a lot of options, the food is surprisingly delicious for a sports bar, and the waitstaff are friendly and talkative. First place I hit when we rolled into Manhattan so I could catch Sunday Night Football. I devoured their smash burger and highly recommend it and my girlfriend had their Gordita Crunch and it was as big as a football and delicious. Some dude with a mess of curly hair rolled a doobie and got a bunch of people high on the patio while the 49ers crushed the Cowboys. This is a solid sports bar in Greenwich Village. We went there to watch a NBA semifinals game on a Sunday, and it wasn't too packed. We were able to snag a table in the back of the bar, where there is a small room with several tvs on each wall. They had the NBA game playing with sound, and also a premier league game on the other half of the tvs. There prices were pretty standard for a nyc bar. A pint was around $9 -- the cider was really good. We also ordered the chicken tenders. They were good, but not what we expected. It seemed more like a fried chicken cutlet, rather than chicken tenders. I felt like I needed a fork and knife to eat it. That was around $16. They keep your card to open a tab, but it was easy to close it out. Overall, it's a solid place for watching a game! read more

We came on a Sunday night and it was very spacious. Motivation to come here was to watch basketball playoffs and there were plenty of TVs situated around so that was a relief. Shepherd's Pie - I haven't really had many of these pies, but I thought it was pretty decent. The mashed potato was consistently smooth/soft, the beef was tender, and everything stayed hot. Plate of buffalo wings was also good. Came with at least 8-10 pieces of wings. Wings were not over sauced and tender. A half and half mix of wings and drumsticks. Plate of fries was decent. Some potato skin was left on. Not too salted. Service here was satisfactory. They didn't do a very good job of providing water unless asked to do so. Waiter was pretty chill, never pressured us to keep on ordering. Food was much better than I expected, so that was a huge plus. read more

I love Blue Haven so much. They are a great sports bar, their food is great, there are a bunch of table to eat, and they have a back room with darts! Their veggie burger is so amazing.. I had an out-patient surgery and couldn't eat for 24-hr before and when I got out it was all I wanted. I ordered it for pick-up when I was leaving the hospital and brought it home :) And their fries have this aoili sauce that is so perfect. The salad that comes with it is also a great side side salad with good greens and tomato and cucumber with a great balsamic. But, if you're going to a sports bar you're prob more interested in hearing about their wings (they're great), or nachos (so many toppings.. yum), or tenders (super crispy). And the breading on this was soft and falling off. Fail. The bartender suggested the pulled pork that has a bbq-like sauce. We probably should've gone with that instead. Very disappointed that this place continues to employ this one bouncer who always wears a D baseball cap. My friend months ago had an issue with him after needed to use the bathroom, having already paid his food bill while sitting outside. That bouncer wouldn't allow him to use the bathroom because he insisted on looking at his ID, despite having sat outside the whole time. The bouncer decided to escalate the scene and even called my friend a f*ggot in front of everyone. I returned months later to meet up with different friends who were also sitting outside. One of them had just went to use the bathroom. I just wanted to go inside the bathroom to check up on him, but that same bouncer with the D cap was outside. He asked for ID, which I left behind at my place nearby. I asked if I could use a picture of it on my phone. Now rather than just saying no, that bouncer decided to make it his own teaching moment to complain. He said "you should always have your ID on you. I know COVID messed a lot of things up, and so many people now think it's okay to not carry an ID." Then he continues to berate me and goes on a rant, stating " COVID wasn't a real thing, and we should have never shut down or doing anything like that. Now people think that everything the did was justified. You gotta get rid of all that negativity. COVID is a bunch of negativity. Lemme ask you, what are your thoughts on COVID?" I told him I don't really have thoughts on COVID right now because I just want to check up on my friend. He then goes "see that's your problem. This is why people think they can just get away with things". He then proceeds to lecture me, stating "lemme tell you what you're doing now. Because so many people think it's okay to not have ID's on them, it makes my job look at risk. Now I look like that bad guy. So many people think they can get away with things like that. So what you're doing now is disrespecting me." At this point, it was very clear that instead of just saying no, he wanted to waste my time and also berate me in front of everyone outside publicly. Remember, all I wanted to do was check on my friend in the bathroom. So I walked away and attempted to speak with someone at the front entrance instead, but decided to go out of his way to block me from even talking to anyone. Then he proceeds to yell at me in front of everyone, berating me in public and calling me an asshole, and telling me to get lost. He even said he's ready to knock me out if I even threw a punch, even though I made no attempts to get close to him or even start a fight. I haven't even had one drink that night and was completely sober. I don't understand how this place can continue to employ this man. All of this could've been avoided if he just said no one is allowed with an ID. A photo is invalid. Instead he chooses to instigate and escalate situations, insults people in public (even calling them derogatory terms like f*ggot), and outwardly says things like COVID shouldn't have happened, especially when I live in Queens and was close to Elmhurst hospital at the peak of the pandemic. I know people who have lost family/friends to COVID, but this man wants to treat it like it was an event that made his life harder. Its apparently okay for him to waste my time and have him to go on a whole diatribe, but I'm not able to explain anything just to check up on a friend to see if he's doing okay. It's very disappointing because I have been here several times without any issue, but conflicts and tension always seems to arise because of this one bouncer. First of all they don't have a nice happy hour, with so many good bars around which offer a better happy hour, this place definitely lacked in a good HH options. We decided go for a glass, they were out of Merlot so went with Pinot Noir. It was like $10 bucks with tip during HH, don'y know how much they charge during non HH. We got our drinks and me and my friend noticed that the glasses had a lot of stains and were dirty. When we asked the bartender said they are washed in dishwasher but still the glasses need to be clean. It grosses me out when a place serves drinks or food in utensils which are not clean. So in the end she got us new glasses. We had the fries which were OK nothing special about them. I would avoid this place in future as there are a lot of better spots nearby! read more

4.5 stars. Surprises are not always fun. But pleasant surprises are, well, pleasant. Blue Haven, you were a pleasant surprise on Saturday night, and I am very very happy about it. Came here on, you guessed it, Saturday night, with a friend who wanted to have her FIRST LEGAL DRINK! Boy was I honored to be her company for that. But I digress. Unfortunately, this particular Saturday night was rife with college football. I'm not sure I realized how much people care about college football (I'm more of a pro sports girl myself) until this particular night, because our first five or six attempts to get a table at a bar were maddeningly futile. From bar to bar we hopped, hoping that the next would hold greater promise than the last. But alas, we traveled from Chelsea to the West Village to Greenwich Village - we nearly ended up in Soho. It was raining and we were fed up with this nonsense. But Blue Haven to the rescue! We were able to get a table here *just* before the BRO RUSH and we were finally content. Blue Haven is a decently-sized bar with plenty of tables - while I've only ordered dinner-type food here, I get the sense that it's just as much an eatery as it is a bar. The back room has a couple of tables and dart boards if you want to get your bar game on. We actually wanted to watch baseball, and while most of the TVs were showing college football, a few were saved for baseball. No shortage of TVs here - props for that. Our waitress got on our good side immediately, as she shooed a small group of people who were just using a table for a drink rest. So we got a seat pretty quickly, and got to draaaanks. The waitress became more overjoyed than we were upon finding out that my friend had just turned 21 - she couldn't contain her excitement, and it was awesome. There's a fine line with enthusiasm - it can be endearing up to a certain extent, and past that line it's aggravatingly irritating. She struck just the right balance. We both went with Belgian beers for the night (as I always do). ANOTHER PRO: Despite not being any sort of craft beer establishment, they serve their beers in the correct glasses. My Delirium came in a Delirium glass, my friend's Allagash White came in its proper glass, and all was well. Beer and cocktail menus are both far above-average as far as sports bars go. Very impressed. Now, we had worked up and appetite from all of that walking, so food was necessary. This is definitely what I'd call an upscale bar menu. Not your average pub grub. They have a great variety of options here. You've got your typical burgers and wings deal, but there are plenty of other options. I got the Black Bean & Quinoa Burger w/ lime aioli, Bloody orange BBQ, queso fresco, brioche. One of the best veggie burgers I've had in a while. Our waitress was quite confident that we'd be impressed with the quality of the food here, and we were not mistaken. Both of us cleaned our plates. My burger was flavorful and creative, and the brioche was indeed fresh. I'm semi-addicted to looking up menus prior to restaurant visits, and I didn't get to do this ritual before eating here. But I was not penalized - in fact, the food here was probably better than anything I would've ordered elsewhere that night (we were looking for sports bars with good bar food). Just a note on the crowd: definitely bro-y and loud. But we didn't mind in the slightest. We happened to be seated close to the majority of the TVs, so the noise was warranted.
