SoHo Room should not be confused with now closed, superb, (exclusive) beer & wine bar The Room that was literally down the block on Sullivan, nor (I believe still open) its great sister bars The Other Room and Another Room!!!! This SoHo Room is a nondescript sports bar that's a tad short on items like a pickled onion for a martini. (They did have one alcohol beer option for me.) My brother, sister-in-law and I ended up there while waiting for our table at Sugarfish across the street. One drink was really enough. There are so many other great places to drink in the city, including throughout this neighborhood. Definitely recommend The Other Room and Another Room, but don't know why someone would go to the SoHo Room!!! read more

SOHO Room is absolutely NOT a bar you would like to go too as a tourist. I decided to check this place out since it looked interesting, wondering what drink would be good & was received by a rude women. When I say rude I mean RUDE. No respect, towards customers nor her job. As customers, it's not our fought that you dislike your job. She was looking at some type of way non friendly & was making small comments that I was unclear what she was saying to customers but were giggling. So I stood up and left. Worst experience with a female bartender with a deep voice. Made our whole party feel so uncomfortable by talking about us to other customers saying she cannot stand tourist. Place is definitely a little divey, they recently remodeled the place after being closed for a little bit. They remodeled everything but the restrooms and back of house which honestly they need a little upkeep on. The food here is bar food. Nothing fancy. The regular bartender is always polite and attentive, but the young woman bartending tonight was clearly wasted, so visibly drunk that she had no business being on the clock. My friend and I remained patient but unfortunately her inebriation affected her ability to do her job. We ordered two drinks, she promptly forgot about us. The regular bartender tried to serve us and she interrupted him, explaining she hadn't forgotten about us when she was clearly at the other end of the bar watching football. She then got combative and defensive, asking us why we were in the bar and where we'd come from. She eventually served us and bizarrely demanded that we weren't allowed to yell at her when both of us were just sitting there chatting with each other. Half an hour later, she's showing videos on her cell phone of a man masturbating to two patrons at the bar. The women she was showing the videos to were mortified. I eagerly came into the bar to watch the World Cup, but didn't stay long due to the atrocious attitude from the waiter. I don't like to give 1 star reviews, but I think potential patrons should know what to expect from this establishment. I was originally seated in the front and scoped the back to relocate for an open seat with a better view of the game. The waiter followed me and with a very snarky, reprimanding attitude said, "you can't just go sit at another table. You need to tell me." There's much nicer ways to communicate this to your patrons. This place has a special spot in my heart as we went on opening night. Soho room opened right down the block from us, we have been looking for a sports bar in the area without having to trek over across W. Houston to the west village. This bar has a good mix of people, you can request music through an app, and has the most friendliest bartenders. We love Mike, Liam, Jimmy, & Jeremy. They all offer such great & prompt service. This is a great pre-dinner / post-dinner spot. There is a back area with lots of seats if you come with a group. Amazing prices considering it a bar in Soho. Decent place - I sat at the table and not the bar. Waitresses were attentive and friendly to my app and drink order. It doesn't have the best quality beverages but it'll do if you want to catch up with people. Definitely better if you want to order a beer at an affordable price. There is a rotating beer though, which was Ocktoberfest when I went. I ordered mild wings for an app and it was fine. All in all - not a bad place if you're in the area and need a place to go. I came here one night after a concert nearby. It was a'ight. I had a few beers. Their craft beer selection was just okay. There was some Germany wheat beer that sounded interesting. I don't think they give samples #rats. I wasn't keen on spending $8 on something I wouldn't like. But I can have Blue Moon and it's fine. Full bar, and their barkeeps were knowledgeable about music. As other Yelpers have mentioned, this place has really changed. First off, there is a narrow small bar area, which is nothing special. The back room used to look like a cool bar, with dim lighting and couches. It was a great date place. When I went last week, the back room was now more of a restaurant. There were a few loungey chairs in the middle, but they worn and ripped. The menu was small, uninteresting, and over-priced. The drinks were also over-priced...even during happy hour. $9 for a dinky vodka and soda was too much for this dump. Also, our server was not very with it. She didn't know the details of the happy hour and had to keep running back to the bartender to answer our questions. She didn't know about some of the menu items. The restaurant also did not have some of the menu items available, according to our waitress. After she told us this, the manager ran out of the kitchen to whisper something to her...At one point they decided to dim the lights, but made it so dark that people had no idea what was going on. One of the waitresses had to complain and even then they only raised the lights a bit. After a little bit, the waitress came by to tell us she was leaving for the evening (it was only about 7:45-8 pm) and the other waitress could help us. After all of the commotion and disappointment, we just closed out and left. By the way, when I went last year I ordered the BBQ chicken wrap, which was just ok. My friend had the burger and did not like it. Not recommended at all. read more

Bar seemed OK on entry - fairly chilled with an average selection of mainstream beers. However they have - hands down - the rudest bar staff we encountered during our trip to NY. Bad attitude, dirty looks, slow service and staff even started an argument with one of our group. Looking at other reviews, seems this is a regular complaint. SoHo room is supposedly one of the cheaper bars in the area, although I'm not entirely convinced of that. I should really know better than to go for a mojito at a place like this, but all their signs were forcing me to be adventurous.
