I particularly liked the fries. They were crusp and slender. My friend raved about her salad. She said the chicken was done perfectly, everything was fresh. Came here for the sunday roast and was pleasantly surprised and impressed! For $30 it's a fairly good value for the amount of food. A few negatives though: The gravy did not taste like it was made with pan drippings or even this roast. It was watered down and had a bad taste. The yorkshire pudding was made a while ago and not fresh. Positives: The meat was great and the drippings on the plate made up for a decent gravy. The peas were a big hit and they were hot and freshly roasted! There were some cubes of turnip that were fantastic. The carrots were fresh and perfectly cooked. The potatoes were nicely roasted and had a good outer layer. Not bad. I'd visit again if I cant make it out to the UK foe the real deal. read more

Absolutely horrendous. Stay far away. Went to watch the Giants game last night with a few friends, and this place was a complete disaster from start to finish. Two of the guys stepped outside for a cigarette, leaving their vodka sodas on the table next to us. Within minutes, the busboys came over and took their drinks without even asking if they were done, just grabbed them and walked away. When my boyfriend went to the bar to explain what happened, the bartender barely looked up and just kept saying "OK, OK," clearly not understanding a word he was saying. Then, as we were leaving, that same bartender came screaming and chasing us out of the bar, accusing us of not paying. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for, especially when they were the ones who messed up. To make matters worse, the food was average at best, and the staff acted like they couldn't care less. The busboy even grabbed our plate the second we finished, hovering like he couldn't wait to clear the table and go home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The whole place has this weird, uncomfortable vibe, like the staff hates being there and takes it out on the customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Honestly, the experience was embarrassing, unprofessional, and beyond disrespectful. I've been here plenty of times over the years and it's usually one of the nicer places on this street. The drinks are typical - the normal beers you would expect and cocktails are $15-18. During Christmas the inside of this Tavern is usually decorated in a very cool way. The service was lacking. It was not that busy during my most recent visit and there were plenty of staff and waiters standing around, but it would take awhile to get our waitress' attention - and we were at a table right by the bar! I've been here several times and it's usually decent enough but visiting for St Patrick's Day was not the move. They offered a variety of festive dishes, we opted to try the Guinness & Beef Stew, the Chicken pot pie (which is also on the usual menu), and a steak sandwich. The beef stew was tasty but the portion seemed to be one scoop from the pot and did not come with the potatoes and peas as listed. For nearly $30 I expected a much heartier meal but left hungry!! The steak sandwich was a major letdown. The skirt steak was sliced in the wrong direction so I could not bite through the large chunks. I kind of wanted to cry eating this. Usually the fries would be redemption but I could tell they were cooked previously, then refried before serving. They were still salty and tasty enough to eat. My company seemed to enjoy the chicken pot pie. Prices are high for what you get. The ambiance is really pleasant and the staff is really great. Friday night : 6pm ( outdoor seating) Came here for pre dinner drinks with two girl friends . It's a typical place expected of the neighborhood, close to NYU , there at a lot of other bars , some play music . Young crowd and given the location , I'm sure it gets busier later in the evening but not while we were there . We had a young lady serving us drinks. She's young , beautiful and sweet . After realizing she forgot my drink ( my friend got there first and got her drink ) , she came over and apologized and said it's on it's way. I appreciate honestly and sincerity. So happy this spot reopened! Tried it for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the service was (very attentive and quick) and their extensive menu. We were waiting to grab dinner at bar moga around the corner, so we just ordered fries, but the rest of the food that came out of the kitchen looked phenomenal (def want to go back and try). I ordered a martini (which was delicious) and they even served the extra from the shaker on the side! Thanks for being so uncooperative! Group of 5 on patio for three hours to watch games. Server was fantastic however bartenders and manger jerks. The Alabama game was over and all of the tables in the mid section of the patio wanted the LSU game and South Carolina game on the middle tv . The server asked , three of us asked them to change the channel and they refused . We sat and watch recaps for 30 minutes when a great game was on . My bill was well over $250 and would have stayed for another hour or two but when arrogant bartenders say they can't change a channel ...no thanks ! I'll will spend my money elsewhere! We were lured in by the ambiance and fireplaces burning in the TV screens and the doorman ushered us through the doors and we were quickly seated at the perfect table. Emily was our server and she was an absolute delight! As it was late in the evening, we had a plate to share--the grilled cheese while not something I'd typically order--was legit. Went in for a quick meal while waiting for a band down the street. The first thing I noticed, since we sat at the bar, was that they had a nice tap selection. I asked for a beer based on the tap, but unfortunately they were out of it. The bartender seemed to make a comment that many people ask for it. If that's the case why not remove the tap until you refill the keg? Other than that faux pas I must say that he was very pleasant and was a good server. I ordered the double lobster rolls. At that price I thought I was getting a bargain. However, these were NOT lobster rolls. It was lobster salad in rolls. They were tasty and I would have given a better rating if they were on the menu as lobster salad sandwiches. My wife got the wings which she said were good. Not a fan of the service or the ambiance in this place. we came for a couple of drinks after dinner and only my drink was good (a dirty martini) the spicy margaritas were extremely spicy and the regular margaritas were gross. When we told the bartender about it he got defensive and mad, I've never been to a place that made terrible drinks and expected people to drink it. If you're a bartender you should know how to make a basic margarita and you should be able to accept when a client doesn't like the way you made it. read more

The interior of the locale is absolutely gorgeous and it was too bad that current circumstances didn't allow for us to sit inside. If you visit once indoor dinning is back, you'll really feel the British flair of this tavern! Our service was prompt and courteous. The menu had all the staples you would expect at a British pub, including sandwiches, fish and chips and shepherd's pie. The drinks menu included both liquor and cocktails as well as a number of imported beer options. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich and they were cooked perfectly. Sunday roast!!! As a super fan of Sunday roast I was actually quite surprised that GMT tavern serves the Sunday roast every Sunday! I mean I walk passed by thousand times and don't know they are a very British bar lol. Actually quite impressive about their Sunday roast. Very yummy roast beef. My medium one is just right. Soft inside. The Yorkshire pudding is with good quality and pairs well with gravy. Their gravy is cooked with the meat sauce. I would say too much carrot inside. But great for value. (They also have outdoor seating for those nice fall/summer days.) Their beer and food menu is good enough. I've had their beer, Gin Blossom, flatbread, calamari, wings, and fish n chips. Generally speaking though, the food is average at best, especially for the price which is a bit high. But it comes out quick.
