First time trying this place which I found on Yelp. We went for happy hour where we tired their take on espresso martini. This espresso drink has rum in it which was different but tasted so good! We also got the pretzels which were hot and delicious however I did wish they had regular mustard instead of the beer cheese sauce and honey mustard it came with. My boyfriend got the lobster Mac and cheese. This portion was HUGE!! and it came with large chunks of lobster in it. The ambiance in here was so welcoming. I absolutely loved the green ivy growing throughout restaurant. The waitresses were both so inviting and friendly. Will definitely be back read more

Wonderful little spot in the neighborhood! Sera and Jasmine are absolute gems and made us feel so welcome. Drinks are phenomenal and the cocktail knowledge is amazing! Get the edamame for a snack read more

What a great place to stumble upon! Went to happy hour here. We got all 3 happy hour apps and wow. So good! The tomato jam jar was not what I was expecting in the best way. 10/10 recommend. The fries were great but get a side of the honey mustard that comes with the pretzel because they make it in house and it's delicious. The cocktails were also great and great happy hour prices for them. Also our server was so lovely and she took great care of us. This place is filled with plants and so cute! Great for girls night or a cute date night spot. read more

One of my new favorite drink spots in Downtown Denver while walking Platte. It is tucked away and has the coolest esthetic! Loved the vibe and the setting. We sat at the bar and Mason was our bartender. He knows his stuff! He was so wonderful, gave us awesome recommendations and was a joy to talk to! First he made us a round of shots inspired by their watermelon marg.... Soooo delish! I got the Boba Fett which was divine! A lychee and gin concoction that was one of the best drinks I've ever had! My bestie got the Black Smoke which comes in a smoking lantern! It was also delicious! We also had the Berry Picker which was good (I don't love egg white foam so I wouldn't order it). I would love to come back for HH (sadly by beloved Boba Fett isn't on it) but there are some garlic fries calling my name! read more

Went for happy hour and it was a great deal! $8 for many of their specialty cocktails! Fun ambiance with all the plants being available for purchase! Tasty drinks, will def be back to try others! Small cute place and would recommend a reso if coming later on a weekend night! read more

The Broken Cage - 4 cocktails for happy hour - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

The Broken Cage is a plant lover's dream. The interior is really cool and nicely decorated, with plants growing all throughout. A previous reviewer pointed out a bit of a disconnect by having a few TVs hanging above the bar, and I 100% echo this -- the TVs seemed out of place and turned what otherwise seems like an upscale cocktail bar into more of a sports bar environment. Drink service was great on a Friday night and the host was able to get us a table despite not having a reservation. The cocktail menu spans a wide variety of tastes, from sweet to smoky. I ordered the Cloud 9, a gin-based drink, and also tried the Moxa. The presentation on the cocktails was beautiful and I enjoyed both drinks. I did not try any of the food, but plenty of people at tables around us did, and everything looked (and smelled) amazing! read more

They have Col Taylor and Blanton's. If you know then you know. If not, give it a whirl...just don't add ice. Let the nectar of the gods coat that throat. You can always add a cube with your second glass. Bartenders are chill. Wait times will be long on busier nights. Small patio and 8 tables inside. It's a layover, or if you're a fancy, a buyout spot. I've only been during buyouts. Oh you fancy huh... read more

Very relaxed and upscale cocktail bar with a plants theme. Their cocktails are very unique and tasty! There are a wide range to choose from and all the ones we tried were top tier. Service was friendly and efficient. read more

Great place to have drinks and good food in a laid back environment! Really liked the ambiance and especially all the indoor plants which are for sale btw. Music was a bit loud but I won't let that affect my review. Ordered the flatbread, salad, garlic & herb fries & a few cocktails including the black smoke - which was an interesting experience. Food tasted decent. Wish they had more vegan options but no complaints whatsoever. Overall a good place to visit if you are in this part of town. I must add - Service was really good too. Very accommodating in terms of seating us and being attentive of taking our order, listening to my food restrictions, going the extra mile to check back with me regarding my order and making sure we got the check when we were ready without hurrying us. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Cute, small place with amazing cocktails. Their bourbon cocktails were both drool-worthy- Berry Picker and Rich B*tch. Unfortunately service was lacking on a Saturday afternoon. They had plenty of people working. They all seemed busy... not sure what they were doing. Mostly walking around looking busy but not refilling our water or asking if we wanted anything else to eat or drink. We did try the pretzels. The dough was raw on the inside. They were not cooked all the way through. Mustard dipping sauce was tasty but the cheese sauce was gritty and underwhelming. Go for the cocktails. Maybe sit at the bar and hope for better service. read more

Great happy hour! Delicious drinks & food. Loved the atmosphere & all the plants everywhere

I love the ambiance, decor and abundance of plants here. The drinks are always changing and they always use ingredients I don't see anywhere else. Even when I'm unsure if I'll like something the staff here are great and will let me sample and then it's always exactly how they explained it. It's so hard to find a bar in Denver that is classy and also gives a hipster vibe read more

Very cute and unique cocktails, only tried their fries but they were amazing. Small inside and fills up fast but is so cute and the bartenders are great! The host seemed a little bit grumpy but maybe just caught them on an off night. Would definitely come back again! read more

The ambiance in this bar is great but it can get loud when busy. There are plants all around and many of them are for sale if you're looking to take a plant home. The drinks are well constructed and tasty - the rich b!tch and divine aviation are good choices if you like gin. I would pass on the small bites and appetizers here. I've tried the pretzel bites and two flatbreads over a couple visits and have been disappointed. The happy hour menu is good compared to other cocktail bars in the area. read more

We came for a birthday dinner and it was about 10-12 of us. The servers were extremely friendly and helpful; they suggested different things on the menu and gave us detailed explanations. Everything I tried was delicious, down to the sauces and spices. I only got pictures of the things I ordered. I definitely recommend checking this spot out. The drinks were unique in flavor and they use herbs to spice them up. My favorite was the watermelon basil margarita. The presentation for some of the arrival of the drinks was also cool, order the Black Smoke and you'll see ;) haha great spot for dinner with friends or coworkers, a date night, first date, or just to get drinks and bites! read more

LOBSTA LOVE If you live in Denver and haven't tried this gem of a cocktail bar with gourmet cuisine... you're doing life wrong. The meal chef/owner Layla hand made for my gluten free dairy free pescatarian needs was one of the best meals I've tasted in a while! Not only was the food to good to stop eating, but Owner Layla is a sweetheart & fun to talk with! Ordered: *Am Sparta Potato Salad (Of My Dreams) - DAIRY FREE POTATO SALAD - Disclaimer: I usually LOAF potato salad, but man this was not the typical mayo slathered rustic, this was heaven. - Main Ingredients: Red Skin Potatoes slightly smashed, capers, mustard *Dill Salmon - I wanna cry writing this... I miss this salmon so much. Insane. *Lobsta Meat - Refreshingly delish, but seriously that salmon got me feeling some type of way haha *Watermelon Basil Mocktail - Heat stroke helper *Happy Leaf canned kombucha - A must try! Decor/Ambience: Charmingly beautiful! Filled with amazing art from Laylas family & friends. Just go here! I know I'll be back Thank you Layla & staff at TBC I miss it there already :) read more

Came for happy hour, and was really satisfied with the experience. Everything we ate and drank was spot on. It was creative, delicious, and filling. My friend kept saying everything tasted so "fresh". The vibe is relaxed but hip, and it was a perfect ambience for two friends to hang out. We ordered: 3 happy hour cocktails and one beer, pretzels on hh, tomato jam on hh, and a chicken sandwich with green bean potato salad. Split cost was about $27 each, and we were full, even though we didn't finish everything. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because I think they should offer at least one happy hour item that isn't bread/potato based. Maybe a small version of a salad or some roasted veggies. I'm not necessarily trying to eat "healthy" at a HH (hello Berry Picker bourbon cocktail!!) but it would be a nice balance to pretzels, fries, and naan. read more

5 stars all around. I've been here a couple times and their happy hour is fire. $8 cocktails that are well worth $15. I had an espresso martini this last time and it was amazing! They have a great staff that do a great job. They also have a really cute vibe as well read more

I met up with a gf here for happy hour. Any happy hour that goes until 7 is a winner for me! All wines, cocktails, and beers on hh? Whaaaa? Great selection of wine, and my gf enjoyed a couple cocktails, both of which were really tasty. We got the burrata (not on hh), the pretzel whathaveyous, and the tomato/pesto jam. Everything was delicious. This space is great too. I'd been here when it was it's last iteration and I still love the space. My only complaint is that while the servers were super friendly, they seemed a bit understaffed for the barrage of office workers that piled in there around 6. I'll be back for sure though. read more

Just a hair above mid-shelf cocktails. If you're new to the scene this is a great place to start. The ambiance is soothing and they know how to garnish. Second visit here we've tried all the cocktails and about half the food menu. Cocktails are pretty, flavor is fair. Nothing crazy outside of the theatrical smoke boxes which add little to the cocktails. Food items are impressive considering the kitchen consists of a Bunsen burner or two. Little disappointing they use tap water for their mushroom bisque soup and soft pretzels. They'd be so delicious if we weren't left with that metallic aftertaste. read more

Came here for happy hour. Ambiance is great. I had the Divine Aviation which tasted a little off (too acidic maybe). It's a drink I have often so I was able to pick us on the difference. We ordered the soft pretzels which were just Ok. I've never been impressed by their food, but you can't expect much from a tiny bar kitchen. Overall I love the ambiance. The bar is covered in plants and there are plants for purchase. They also offer paying by QR code which I like. For drink and food quality would give 3 stars, but the overall vibe and service brings it up to a 4. read more

This cute little family own spot is hidden right behind the Denver beer company. Came in for a quick drink with friends, I ordered the spicy Bloody Mary- their mixture was interesting, had a hit in there for sure. The bacon was nice and crispy. They have a lot of cute drinks and food if your in the neighborhood for a quick stop. All the plants they have decorated around the place is also for sale. My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town and a good friend recommended the Broken Cage so we stopped by to check it out. We had no reservation and it was busy. We were going to just walk around until some space was available but Jessica was amazing! She welcomed us and was super accommodating, she went above and beyond to help us enjoy our first time there. After she found us a table Mason helped us with drink recommendations. With us being out of town we didn't really know what there was to do for fun, Mason was super friendly and great to talk to, he gave us a few recommendations. The drinks were yummy, the place was clean and had such a nice laid back energy. Jessica and Mason were truly so kind and welcoming to us, we loved it and will definitely come back! read more

Perfect date night or drinks/apps with friends. The interior is decorated in a subtle, but in your face beautiful if you look around, unique way. There is a lot of greenery and a statement blue couch that leave a lasting memory. Now on to the good stuff. The drinks. The started with the watermelon basil margarita - which I was hesitant about because it has mezcal but don't let that stop you, the flavors work very well together. We also tried a berry Manhattan type drink and the old fashion. All of which I would recommend and order again. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. They work full coverage masks the whole time. read more
