The process really isn't that difficult or lengthy, it's simple. Remember adopting is a big life decision and owning a dog takes paitence! In comparison to the SPCA and others, STAF actually takes the time to make sure every pet is super healthy and well groomed. I was amazed at how much care they give their rescues. They REALLY work hard on behavior issues and training too. The effort their volunteers put in is beyond outstanding. These people are true people pet. Adopt a dog from STAF or go pay them a visit. You'll know why STAF deserves far more than 5 stars!

Volunteers (Jean, Amanda, Julie, Amy) were so helpful, supportive, friendly. I can't praise them enough. In just 5 days my "scaredy" cat has left his hiding place, explored the house and is happily settling in. I think this reflects the good care he received at STAF while awaiting a new home.

I have attended several years now (they are almost at 50 years of holding the event!), and have enjoyed each time. I have purchased several items that I still enjoy today, including a pair of earrings from several years ago that remains one of my favorites. My most recent visit was this year's, and it was as fascinating as ever. I had the opportunity to get into some fun conversations with a few artists, and it was neat to learn about their processes for creating their art. Location is at Coney Island, and parking is included in the ticket price. Although a lot of artists have started using Square to more easily accommodate credit card purchases, I would still recommend bringing some cash, particularly for the ticket booth.

You'll also find plenty of trinkets, vases and planters, and furniture scattered throughout the store, which really adds to the treasure hunt feel. The main body of the store is filled with many clothing racks, and I've found a lot of great brands here, including plenty of Levi's jeans and similar staples. This is always the thrift store I recommend when someone says they want to start thrifting but don't know where to begin. It's approachable, affordable, and consistently rewarding. The staff has always been wonderful as well. There are a few employees who have worked here for years, and every interaction I've had with them has been pleasant and friendly. We walked into this compact thrift store and immediately noticed that it was chock-full of merchandise! We checked the daily specials on a large sign, grabbed a shopping cart, and dove into the massive amount of hidden treasures! I started in the aisle with tons of toiletries and household items. I immediately zeroed in on several packages of what looked like high-end face creams. I rushed to my phone to Google the product and was excited to discover the retail prices ranged from $65 to $89 per container. Yes, I bought them all for a cool $3.99 each! I then moved on to the sleeveless tops and slacks, since they were 50% off. I found several beautiful tops, plus some skinny slacks that still had the Macy's retail tag attached! The retail price listed was $139! Again, my excitement escalated! I found some nice picture frames for .50 cents each. I uncovered some marvelous discoveries! Positive experience! The drawback was that the clothes racks were so crowded that it was difficult to look at the clothes. Also, it wasn't the neatest store! So much merchandise shoved onto the shelves that you really have to know how to thrift store shop in order to uncover the real deals! Lo and behold- I created more wrinkles than the packaging they came in with. They looked HORRIBLE! Panicking- I called several dry cleaners with no luck. BA Appliance Repair was sent to us through our home warranty company when our oven on our range…read morestopped heating. Repair guy seemed nice enough, looked inside and claimed our range was dual-fuel (I.e. stove was gas, oven was electric), and that BA didn't service these types. I was surprised - because although we didn't buy this appliance (we moved here less than 2 years ago), we always thought the unit was completely gas. Turns out we thought this, because it was completely gas. Confirmed by the repair guy who came from Day's, the appliance repair company that our home warranty company sent out when BA refused service. On a plus note, BA didn't try to collect a deductible for coming out (We wouldn't have paid it anyway if he did). But I'm not sure why the repair guy couldn't tell that our oven was in fact gas, or why they would make the effort to come out to refuse service to us. Have no idea what this was about. But I can guarantee I will ensure our home warranty company doesn't use these guys again for us, or we don't use them again on our own.
