I dropped off my mothers drapes less than 24 hours after the pipes burst and stained the drapes. When I picked them up, it was not obvious to me that they were still stained.( long draperies, folded over on themselves). After unwrapping them, it was quite apparent that the stains were still there. There was not a note informing us of this. And no one said a word about it when I picked them up. Paid 134 $ for this, and the manager won't even return my call. He told his employee to tell me that I am not due a refund. Any other cleaner in town would have clearly labeled the drapes as still stained. And would not expect a 93 year old woman on a limited income to pay for such shoddy work. I am telling everyone I know to stay away from this place. Also, when I dropped them off, I told the attendant it had just happened and I wanted to get them cleaned asap, before the stains set in. Dodgy business. We had just moved to Ohio from an expensive state and grabbed the first carpet cleaning business we Googled. Appearance said they couldn't provide us with a quote until they knew the measurements of our home, which had no furniture in it yet, so this should have been an easy cleaning. The gentleman who arrived to clean called in the measurements to the front office, but there was no quote returned to us, which the cleaner even commented on. He said he finds it strange that they don't let you know up front. (The only reason to not be transparent ahead of time is if you practice inconsistent business processes and don't run things fairly and equitably.) This should have been a red flag to us, but we wanted to strike while the iron was hot, and given that our other home had only cost us $175 for a 2,800 square foot with 5 bedrooms (again, in an expensive state), we assumed the most a company would charge was $300. Imagine our shock to find a $606 charge added to our credit card. When we called to contest the charge and request an itemized breakdown of services, we were emailed a simple receipt with a total of $606. My career has been in quality assurance and continuous improvement, and there are a lot of improvements to be made here. First, transparency -- let the customer know an estimate up front so they can make an informed decision. (Shame on us, and we own our share of the responsibility in this.) Second, communication, communication, communication. This would include a menu of services and their respective prices (estimated), an agreement from the customer that the charges they will incur they are in agreement with (just like at the dentist or mechanic), and a follow-up survey to find opportunities of improvement. This was our introduction to Ohio businesses and customer service. No, thank you. We will stick with Appearance's competitors. read more

Took my coat there to have a zipper put in. Its a long coat goes down to middle of my shin. When i got it home i checked it out, in several places the edge of the material wasn't sewn down. I took it back got it back STILL had stops not sewn down so i thought the heck with it so i sewed them down. About a month later i noticed where they sewed the material down it now all ripped out. It was zigzagged and it ripped lose. Cleaning might be ok but dont ever have them put a zipper in anything. Terrible job. Now i have to buy a new coat, it looks terrible. read more

This is the worst dry cleaning company I have ever worked with. They were unprofessional, rude and did not take any accountability m for ruining two of my items. For the first item, they offered me a credit and when I requested my item back, they said it was understood that they were buying the item from me. They never once verbalized that or put it in writing when they gave me the credit in writing. I would have never agreed to the sale of the dress, as the dress, though partially ruined has sentimental value. With the second item they destroyed they told me that sometimes it happens with the fabric when you dry cleaning. They reference their experience in pride and knowing that fact. If they knew the item wouldn't dry clean well, they should've never dry cleaned it or let me know that it would not dry clean well. They told me they take care of their customers... But they did not take care of me. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. Never have experienced such terrible customer service. This could've been a completely different experience if they would've communicated better. read more

I came to find out that some gorilla glue happened to land and dry on one of my nice collared dress shirts. I've never needed to get glue off of clothing before, so I decided to take it up to Appearance Plus Cleaners. After bringing in my shirt to them, they said they would try their best to get the glue off of my dress shirt I didn't have high expectations due to the fact that gorilla glue and clothing tend not to mix well when you actually want to wear the shirt, instead of using it as a rag. When I picked up my shirt two days later, I noticed they were able to get all the gorilla glue off and the shirt looked brand new. I must admit, I was impressed at how they were able to get hardened gorilla glue off the shirt, and all for the cost of a five dollar latte. I will be using Appearance Plus again in the future. read more

I used Appearance Plus for over a decade - their home delivery and pick up service. It used to be outstanding. Great quality. You paid for it but the service was great and quality was consistently good. That all changed about a year ago. According to our driver - Appearance Plus closed their plant that did such a great job and consolidated the work in a lesser location. Ever since then - my quality from Appearance Plus was absolutely unacceptable. I would get 5 shirts bagged together - which was a sure sign that one was fairly decent and the four hidden by the front shirt were deplorable... I called the "Manager" multiple times and told my endless string of new drivers about the issues and it seemed to me like the quality was getting even worse. Not better. Imagine wrinkles ironed into a patterned dress shirt's cuffs, chest, collar, pocket and button platten all at the same time. Imagine having to pack extra shirts when traveling because you knew at least one of their shirts looked terrible in the bag. Or was missing buttons. Or both. They must have known that they weren't able to keep drivers - because some told me that they weren't given any business cards. Appearance Plus stopped even introducing new drivers to us... They must have been embarrassed. In short - we switched to Widmers... Our driver is professional and we've had zero quality problems. It's a shame because Appearance Plus used to be great and I used to recommend them. Also - received a form letter from the owner saying he didn't understand why we left (even though I called) months later. So - I wrote a long note to his email address that he gave in the letter, outlining all our issues and he didn't have the courtesy to even call or write. He had his minion write me a two line response. What a waste. They obviously don't care anymore about the customers and their garments. FIND another cleaner. read more

After moving a few times around greater Cincinnati & switching 3 or 4 dry cleaners, we have found that this is our final stop! They have great customer service, they are prompt & eager to get it done as quick as possible (vs trying to push you out a few days). Never had issues with the quality of their cleaning. This is my neighborhood dry cleaners. They are open late and have a drive through window. They also do a pretty good job on my clothes. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating especially when I present my coupon at pick up and not drop off. Since I am already talking about coupons I have to mention that they do a really good job at tracking their customers because as soon as I've slacked on taking my clothes to them I get a letter in the mail with a coupon to come back. Sweet deal! I think they are probably a little bit pricey but I think they are comparable with the other local dry cleaners. One thing I was very disappointed in is alterations. I've taken a few pairs of pants there to be hemmed and I've never met their alterations person since she is off site and will pick up items that are properly pinned for alterations. I don't have an issue with this as I typically just need a hem but what I do have an issue with is getting my pants back and they are hand hemmed. If I wanted my pants to be hand hemmed I would've done it myself and saved myself $14 in the process. read more

Appearance plus dry cleaners is one word. WOW!!! They say it's all about you and they mean what they say. You get what you pay for. They do all repairs, clean houses, clean all your clothes including your personal ldy not to mention carpets and free pick up and delivery which is very convenient. They leave you feeling very taken care of. Definitely a great place to do business. The kicker they are very involved in charity's and community. Did I mention pet friendly and they call me by name. I have been using Appearance Plus for a few years now. My initial impression was that they were "pricey" being that I am a "couponer" and always looking for a deal, but there are many ways to get deals down there. They advertise coupons in the "Buy it in Anderson" coupon book and have for several years now, get on their email list and they will email you about promotions, at one time, I was told they would match coupons from other dry cleaners (not positive they still do that), and if a period of time has passed since you have been in, they mail you a letter with a coupon, and I will always find something to take in with the coupon! The employees are all VERY friendly and helpful, and it is very convenient with the drive up window. They have dry cleaned my silk drapes, as well as many dresses, even those with delicate beading on them. They just do a really good job cleaning, and are a very customer oriented dry cleaners. I think they might have even called me one time (if I'm remembering correctly) because it had been a little time since I had been in, and they wanted to make sure my experience had been ok - I just don't wear a lot of dry cleanable clothes on a frequent basis. Very fast turn around time, faster than I've found at other dry cleaners in the area. It's no big deal to drop it off before a certain time one day, and pick it up after a certain time the next. I really like the cleaning solution they use because when I took almost all of my wool sweaters to another area cleaners a few years back, they all came back with a "stiff" funny feeling to them, and theirs come back clean and soft.
