I told her the theme, Lumberjack, and let her creative juices flow on the flavors. OH MY GOSH. For the adults she made maple, bourbon, bacon cupcakes that were absolutely to die for. She made a white vanilla cake for my son's "smash cake" and it was so good that guests were cutting pieces off for themselves (even with baby prints all through it)! After having Angie's amazing cakes at a birthday party and creative workshop she was my first thought when I needed a baker. She made salted chocolate chip cookies (even better than Please & Thank You in Louisville!) and oatmeal cream pies for my photography mini sessions and they were such a huge hit! In the past I made or picked up store bought goodies but I'll never be doing that again. Having top of the line treats delivered was incredible. Angie is so friendly and easy to work with! We ordered some cupcakes from Canteen for our one-year-old's bday. I messaged Angie directly, she responded same day with a pretty extensive list of neat combinations of flavors. We selected three different flavors for our party, and she delivered them to us! We ordered a GF Chocolate Ganache, a sweet potato based and Sea Salted Apple cupcake...the Apple was amazing, and our guests thought that was the best as well! All were baked perfectly and looked almost like decor. Each cupcake was well priced, too - competitive with those fancy cupcake shops, without that retail markup. Canteen has a variety of offerings...my guess is: if it can bake, then she can make. Her pastries are offered at Carabello Coffee in Newport, and there's always a changing variety there of seasonally appropriate offerings...and they all are really great as well! You gato be kitten me right meow! Canteen Bakery is quickly becoming the place for this crazy cat to get his sweet tooth taken care of! My wife saw some of her marketing at a favorite local coffee shop (Carabello she thinks) and decided to give Canteen a try after a conversation about how much I like oatmeal cream pies. I have had Canteen's cupcakes (tons of unique flavor combos) at a private event, and from the looks of their Instagram page the cakes look amazing! But for me, it's the every day treats that I love and her oatmeal cream pies are the best on this planet. Angie is super easy to work with and she seems to have a real drive and passion for her product, and more importantly, her customers. I found Canteen Bakery while searching for a gluten-free friendly baker in Cincinnati. Planning a wedding 2,000 miles away in San Francisco was tough, but Angie (the owner of Canteen Bakery), made it simple. We spoke over email and on the phone, and discussed gluten free, dairy free options for me, and "normal" options for the wedding guests. She was really helpful through all this and gave great recommendations. I ended up ordering a gluten free chocolate ganache wedding cake, and gluten-filled cupcakes for my guests: chocolate/vanilla, apple with salted caramel, and maple brown sugar -- great flavors for a fall wedding. Everything was delicious. (I ate so much wedding cake.) And, it was so easy working with Angie. She picked up my wedding topper, and took care of delivery and setup. This is the second wedding that we've had canteen bakery provide the sweets. The first wedding we requested a small two tier cake with buttercream frosting and edible leaf adornments. Then we ordered lots of individual desserts like buckeyes, mini cheesecakes and assorted cookies for the dessert bar. Best idea ever! Our wedding guests loved the choices and could graze to their hearts content during the evening. Canteen bakery was professional, open to ideas, easy to work with and enthusiastic about our event. I used Canteen for smaller events over the next few years; ordering cupcakes for baby showers, mini wedding cakes for bridal showers and a graduation cake. Again, easy to work with and we had delicious results. Last month, we used Canteen again for a wedding and Canteen truly upped their game! This was a New Year's Eve wedding and the bride requested a three tiered cake and two sheet cakes for her guests. Besides Red Velvet and Vanilla Bean, Canteen provided Whiskey Butterscotch and Apple with Salted Carmel. Melt in your mouth buttercream frosting over moist goodness with subtle flavors to die for...yes, it was that good and there wasn't a morsel left. I didn't get to taste all the flavors and seriously considered absconding with the top tier of the couple's cake when I wrapped it up for their first anniversary. Don't judge. The best part is that their cake will be forever immortalized in beautiful photographs of an elegant cake coated in smooth buttercream with the middle tier brushed with edible gold. Angie was WONDERFUL and the cake is as good as it gets. We asked to do a cake tasting for our wedding, and she promptly sent me a message with the menu. We selected three flavors, and she showed up with a dozen cupcakes for us to try. You can taste the quality--the strawberries and cream icing tastes like real strawberries and nothing artificial. Same with the blueberry icing on the blueberry maple cupcakes. Absolutely delicious. I ordered cupcakes for a friend's bridal party and they were absolutely impeccable (not surprised. I went to high school with Angie and her desserts never disappointed)! All of the girls kept coming up to me telling me how amazing they were. Angie was so patient in dealing with our crazy order (accommodating for our vegan friend and doing multiple flavor orders on short notice).
