I was at the market and decided to stop by here since you pass it. This store is amazing you can buy dog or cat food by the found. It's made every six weeks and they have great options. They had toys and fresh treat. This food and treats are minimally processed . This is the cleanest food for pets I have found. Katie help me she was beyond amazing. She took her time to explain how the store works the types of food they had. She also gave me small samples for my cat. Thanks to her I have changed my cats food. This is one of the best customer service experiences I have had. If you have pets there's no competition to this place you have to get your food here. They have regular customers that kept coming in. They would give the dog treats and calm them by name. I was blown away at how amazing the two people that worked there were so personable. I stopped by this store because I was in the area getting lunch and a sweet treat for myself - so why not stop to get my pet a treat too? This store is a perfect location in a busy area that sees a lot of foot traffic. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by 2 workers who were working in the back. They asked if I was there for any food and I said no, mentioning that this was my first time in the shop. I did see that this store provides a line of dog and cat foods that are made in house. I was able to find the section with cat treats while the workers came out to the front and began chatting with me about what pets I have. I mentioned my cats and that I was looking for a nail trimmer. My cat has long back claws that need desperately to be trimmed. On the floor, I didn't see any cat nail trimmers, but the worker was able to find a pair for me. While I was checking out, I had a nice conversation with the woman working the counter. She mentioned that both workers previously worked in the restaurant industry and that they enjoy working at this location because it's a kitchen too - but for a different type of customer. I ended up also purchasing the nail trimmers and 2 bags of cat treats to help persuade my cat to let me trim his nails. This is a great little shop and I highly recommend stopping by here! I don't have a pet. Up until three years ago, I wasn't even a dog person. Please don't crucify me. My roommate brought home the beautiful Chihuahua mixed with something-we-don't-know that is now known as Nina, and my life changed. She is beautiful and a good girl and deserves all the things. ALL THE DAMNED THINGS. I found myself cruising through Amazon for dog rain coats. I took solo trips to PetSmart to find new toys because her old ones were beat up. I took her on walks. WALKS. I don't even exercise. But Nina...she deserves all the things. The point at hand is that three years ago, I would have never even thought to walk into a speciality pet store. Walking through OTR recently, I saw pet wants and thought, well, Nina is technically a pet. She is more like niece at this point but at the root of it, she is a pet. And she may want something. The store is overwhelming for someone who doesn't actually own a pet. As any good aunt would tell you, I know how to spoil my niece, but I have no clue what goes into the full care of parenting her. There are things I would have never even thought a pet would want. Lotions and herbal oils? Do pets get massages? They get good boy/girl pats...but massages? There were high end bones for good boys and girls to chew on. Am I suppose to be purchasing designer bones for Nina? They have fancy rawhide ones...is rawhide good or bad for a dog? I don't know Nina's wants or needs. I just know she is very, very cute. The gentleman manning the front was very helpful and knowledgeable about his product. In particular, I found their line of dog food fascinating. It's all homemade in store with real ingredients, and like an Austin BBQ joint, when they're out, they're out! The pricing didn't seem outrageous either. I've bought Nina's food before and frankly I don't understand how pet owners aren't poor. Their food is astronomically priced. I didn't end up getting Nina any dog food. As my best friend has stated many times, you can't just switch up your dog's food randomly. It really hurts their digestive tract. I instead took some of the homemade dog treats to her. After all, she deserves all the things. The options in this store seem endless. It's mind blowing what they can pack into the tiny storefront. The best part of it all is that it's actually mostly cheaper than your name-brand stores. The toys are a few dollars cheaper than what I'd find at Pet Smart. I can't even price differentiate some items because I had never seen them before. It's obvious these products are made with your furry best friends and your wallet in mind. I will definitely be taking another trip to Pet Wants, likely with my best friends (my human one and my dog one). I'll have to educate myself on some of the products that are offered first. I'm sure that there are some items that Nina would enjoy. After all, they tout that they have everything a pet would want. And Nina should always get what she wants. read more

My husband and I usually go to the Findlay Market location, but wanted to check this place out. We were looking for the Vegan dental treats for our Frenchie. They did not carry them at this store and only keep them in stocked at the other location. It was cool... because we were able to chat with the employee and learned that this is where they make all the food and and baked goods. We purchased the chicken and rice hard food once a month and our dog loves it. We ended up buying the soft wet food (in the frozen section with the pawsicle treats) which is the beef stew for $4.50 (16 ounces). Ingredients are all natural -USA round beef, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, brown rice, etc. Also got peanut butter cookies. So glad we dropped by! If you are looking for quality, organic and fresh products for your dog, this is the place to shop. They also have a delivery service. It's been a long time coming, but I am finally gonna review Pet Wants. I just wanted give them the proper amount of time to prove themselves. Ok, who am I kidding, I am lying through my teeth. The first time I walked into Pet Wants and purchased my first bag of dog food I was sold (as was the bag of dog food...hehe). Pet Wants' food is locally produced and doesn't contain all of the fillers dog food in the grocery have. Not only is it much healthier than the others but it is actually cheaper in some cases. $2-2.50 a pound for options like chicken and rice, salmon and rice, and lamb and rice. They also offer options for puppy food, lean options as well as maintenance food for the chubby puppies. The staff is very knowledgable and are always willing to provide advice on what your best friend needs. They are also willing to provide information on where their food comes from. Oh and did I mention they deliver. Yeah, free delivery. Simply go to their website and set up what kind of food you want, how often you want it delivered and how much and bingo bango, food at your doorstep. Along with the food for canines and felines there are good treat options, pet toys and dog bones. I suggest the bully stick, it's a bull's...well you get it. I believe they also offer frozen treats for those warmer dog days. Overall Pet Wants is the healthiest, most convenient, cheapest option in town. It's not easy to shop local when it comes to feeding your pets, but Pet Wants solves that problem for those who live in the Cincinnati area. And they deliver! And they pay their employees $15 an hour! I love going to Pet Wants for treats for my dog (cookies range from $1 to $3) and really like the Vine Street and Findlay Market locations, which also have frozen treats, chew toys, and novelties like poop bags. The workers are always friendly and helpful, especially as I transition to feeding my dog Pet Wants food full time. We've always gone to the store at Findlay, but really love being on Vine St., so we've gone to this location a couple times (we just moved back to Cincinnati) and it's awesome. Just like at Findlay, the girls working there are really personable and awesome. The only downside to this location is that their inventory is a lot smaller, but we usually only get dog food, so if we ever need some special, we can just run down the street to the market, so no big deal. This isn't your typical pet store. These people care about what is given to our pets. I first visited Per Wants in Findlay Market a few months ago. I wanted something different for my dog. My dog is a Dachshund and are known to gain weight and not be as active as most dogs. I went in and they immediately asked what foods I'm feeding my dog now then they pulled out their binder to show me the ingredients that were in my dogs current food. They recommended food for my dog based on her needs. They even mixed it together for me since I bought alt of the less active food and half normal food. They were so very kind and so willing to help me with my concerns about my dogs diet. Pet Wants is where I've started getting my cat food for my very picky kitties. Both of them loved the regular adult dry cat food and it's only a little more expensive than buying Iams at the grocery store! However the benefit is that my kitties eat less, get sick to their stomach less often and are have developed super shiny coats! Every person I run into at Pet Wants just seem like genuinely good people who just love animals! I've only been to the store at Findlay. Employees are super helpful and really know their products. Plus, they own the largest dog I have ever seen in my life. And he often plops across the entrance and takes up half the store. After picking out a catnip toy, they recommended another simpler cheaper toy to go along with it, saying that customers raved about them. Sure enough, the cats went crazy. Which is extra surprising because one of my cats had never shown any interest at all in catnip until that moment. I also purchased some organic cat grass that grows right out of the bag that they enjoyed. I'm considering switching my cats to their brand of food as well. If only changing cat food was easy...errr. They can deliver the food to your house but Picnic and Pantry in Northside also carries one flavor or dog and cat food. Very convenient! Discovered these guys when they generously gave us full pound samples of their dog food at Hyde Park Dog's Night Out this summer at Graeters. Turns out our pup LOVES their food. We ordered buffalo/duck mix, delivered right to our door, and our pup is in doggy dining heaven. Saw this store listed on an Yelp email and decided to try it out as I am always worried about what the little guy eats with all the recalls of the major name brands. The staff was very helpful even though they were fairly busy at the time. Just a heads up if your paying with a card they do have a five dollar minimum. We were just going to buy a pound of the chicken flavored dog food which came to about $2 after digging around in our pockets we came up with $1. 25 in cash and the nice lady at the counter let us have the dog food anyway. Kudos all around to a friendly and efficient staff. Stop in and let them show you what is in the food your feeding your dog now. We will be back for more flavors next time we are down that way or will take advantage of the delivery service and meet them somewhere near 275 as we live in Lebanon. read more
