Blue Dog K9 Care literally saved the day for me. My usual dog sitter was unable to look after my Boxer/Pit mix for my weekend trip, so I had to really scramble for other options. Bobby, the owner, was able to take him in on such short notice and was willing to accommodate my hectic schedule for drop-off. As soon as we arrived, I could already tell my Bruno (who doesn't trust new people right away) was feeling right at home. I loved being able to get updates on how he was getting along with other dogs and even getting to see some videos of him playing. A major bonus was the fact that they offer grooming services since I had been struggling to find a groomer that would be willing to work with him. I dealt with Bobby last year and had a positive experience, but he has dramatically changed his attitude and his policies. He now insists upon CASH ONLY, PAY UP FRONT. I would NEVER pay up front for this type of service; there are so many risks involved with leaving your pet in the care of another. I'm not sure why he'd require cash only unless he's attempting to avoid paying taxes. Whatever the reason, I find it extremely unprofessional. Also, drop off and pick up times have become very limited, which seems rather odd to me, since he touts that he's around 24/7 with your pet. Don't bother asking Bobby why his policies have changed. Bobby has a terrible attitude, as is mentioned in a number of other reviews. I suppose he'll do just fine without my business, but I would recommend that you direct your business elsewhere as well. read more

This place looked promising until I stepped inside. The owner didn't introduce himself but was quick to tell me I have the wrong collar, wrong leash, wrong food and pretty much doing all things wrong. I've been training my new rescue with very positive training. He has clearly been abused so this mans disciplinary attitude was very scary to my dog. He walked around with a baton and slammed it on the dogs cages when they barked at us. This might work for people that use those techniques with their dogs but not with a new rescue with a past. Saved the day. Great service. Super Convenient. I was out of the country and my dog sitter basically bailed on me. Bobby the owner agreed to take my large Rottweiler on zero notice and board him for a week. I typically take him there for daycare, which he loves. Love the space that my dog has and the attention to care he provides for my big dog. The facility is super clean and well taken care of. I've been taking my dog to Blue Dog K9 Care for about 6 months now, and Maggie (my dog) and I couldn't be happier! When I imagine most doggie day care's I think of tons of animals shoved into a small space not really being monitored or cared for. Visions of dog poop and pee come to my head as well as small non-ventilated spaces. I even think of dogs getting sick and passing it to other pups.......at least these are the horror stories that I've heard from friends who have taken their pups to kennels or doggie daycare's. Luckily these visions are not true when it comes to Blue Dog. Bobby takes extra care to make sure that your dog is in a clean, safe environment. I would even go so far as to say that Bobby has a little OCD when it comes to cleaning, as he is ALWAYS cleaning something when I show up for Maggie. I can't complain though because she never shows up smelling like urine or feces and has never come down with any strange illness, thank goodness!! In addition to the cleanliness, what I love about Blue Dog is that Bobby takes extra care to make sure that your pet is secluded to play with pets of similar temperament. After a bad incident at the dog park earlier this year, I was afraid that Maggie would now become aggressive with other dogs and possibly people. After a few months with Bobby, Maggie now seems less skittish with people and other dogs. My parents have even noted this change! I live in downtown Cincy and have known Bobby for quite some time on a professional basis. Every day I see him running, walking, or riding his bike down the street with anywhere from one to a few dogs with him. The dogs are always completely under control, happy, and getting a great workout. Bobby truly loves dogs and you will realize this from the moment you see him with your pet! We have an american bulldog puppy and Bobby has been great helping us with potty training tips, finding the correct collar, food, etc. He's a wealth of knowledge! We've even called him late at night for an emergency dog walk when we were sick or unable to get home in time to let our dog out. Bobby will come to your house, pickup your dog, and take him\her for walks. Its really easy, convenient, and personal. It's awesome to watch him with his dogs that are all very well behaved pitbulls. He is helping to give bully breeds a better image which I'm very thankful for being an owner of a large dog. read more

I was in Cincinnati for a wedding and although I rented a dog-friendly Airbnb, I felt more comfortable boarding my dogs the night of the wedding rather than leave them alone in a new place. Bobby was very responsive and accommodating. He made it easy and as stress free as possible for me to coordinate the logistics from NY. I have an AmStaff/Boxer mix who is very social, and I appreciate that Blue Dog is Breed Non-discriminatory because I've run into places that won't take her. I felt confident based on the reviews here that Bobby would easily manage her and my poodle mix who is a bit skittish. I was very comfortable leaving them with him so I could go to the wedding and spend time with family at ease. Both dogs were happy, clean and TIRED (in a good way) when I picked them up the following day! The kind of one on one interaction and genuine love I witnessed as a new customer straight away speaks volumes in comparison to a lot of boarding places for dogs. Im not saying others don't love dogs but What I am saying is that Bobby is genuine in his love and knowledge of dogs. As someone here out of town and here for ptsd treatment and in need of a week of boarding for my service dog; Im finding great comfort in the care my dog India is receiving. The attention she seemingly has gotten is amazingly balanced. If you are looking for the most well rounded place I got to say this has so much balance and zen for your beloved dog. Originally, after I noticed the first injury on my puppy I decided to not write a negative review. The first injury was pretty minor and because Blue Dog is a new business and everyone makes little mistakes, I felt Bobby could benefit from not having this public blemish. So I told him my concerns about what happened, how he could avoid making the same mistake for future customers, and left it at that. But because the second injury (which occurred the same day but I didn't realize existed until later) seemed like it was the result of negligence during the daycare experience, it changed my mind about writing a review. This is what took place: After I went to pick up my puppy, I got home and noticed a small bleeding cut on her face. When I asked Bobby what happened, he said playtime got a bit rough and my pup may have gotten a little hurt. He didn't think to mention it to me (even though I asked him about playtime during pickup). I understand rough playtime. And I get that accidents happen. BUT if there's any risk that an injury occurred, I'd like to be able to trust the daycare enough to know they'd tell me up front, instead of waiting to see if I'd find out. Blue Dog lost my trust so I knew I wouldn't be back. Anyway, for the reasons listed in the 1st paragraph, after speaking with Bobby I decided to just move on. Fast forward a bit and I was enjoying flexible scheduling where I could always be with my puppy and have her within sight. One night I noticed a bleeding lesion on her tail. Concerned, I took her to the vet. They shaved off the fur to reveal bite marks severe enough to cause a lasting deep infection that was only partially healed. The vet said the marks were consistent with a dog biting and digging+dragging its teeth on my puppy's tail - and it would have hurt. A LOT. There's no way a responsible dog sitter would miss this happening. It should never have been allowed to occur or progress to the severity it did. My puppy is now on medications to treat the infection and wound. Because of Blue Dog's negligence of care, I'm writing this review to let people know. The most unprofessional business owner I have ever encountered. There were multiple situations where I should have stopped taking my business here but due to the location, I continued to go. HUGE MISTAKE. When I first met with Bobby at Blue Dog K9 Care he mentioned that he is out between 12-3 every day to walk other dogs from their homes, which is fine, however, to him that means he can run errands whenever he needs to throughout the day leaving your dog unsupervised in kennels with other dogs. He also requires you to text him 30 minutes before you arrive and when I do pick up my dog, my car reeks of weed because of how bad my dog smells. SITUATION #1: My first week of taking my dog here, I had to pick him up a little later than normal, but Bobby had class and said I wouldn't be able to pick him up until 8. When I arrived at 8:00 I sent multiple text messages letting him know that I was there, called multiple of times with no answer. After waiting an hour to hear from him I knock on his door to find out he didn't even go to class and had been sleeping the entire time, while my dog had been locked outside unsupervised with other dogs for multiple hours. SITUATION #2: I went to pick my dog up at the usual time I get off work and once I arrived he texts me that he won't be there for another 45 minutes because he's at the grocery store. Why he's going to the grocery store while I am paying to have him look after my dog is beyond me. SITUATION #3: One day I came home to find dog bites all over my dog's leg and when I mentioned something to him, he said he didn't even know it happened or notice that my dog was BLEEDING! SITUATION #4: THE LAST STRAW. He sends me multiple text messages asking me when I will be in and to hurry because he has to pick up his girlfriend from their airport. When I don't respond immediately he gets an attitude telling me to respond quickly because he needs to leave. So I finally ask him how often is he actually there to watch my dog because it seems he's always gone meaning I am paying him to put my dog in a kennel unsupervised when I can do that at home for free. When I arrive he legitimately starts SCREAMING AT ME, and when I ask him politely to calm down and have a civil conversation about this, he continues to SCREAM telling me how terrible my dog is and how he's the best dog daycare around and how great his business is. Wouldn't even let me get a single word in. THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL WAY TO HANDLE ANY SITUATION WITH A PAYING CUSTOMER. All because I wanted to know what all I was paying for. If I could rate less than 1 star I would do so, and I STRONGLY recommend you do not take your business here. read more

I called to get some information and potentially make an appointment. I spoke with the owner on the phone and he was incredibly rude. He asked what kind of service I needed and what day. I said, "I'm asking for my 6 month old labradoodle's first cut, and I'm looking for something this Saturday" He literally said "That's not gonna happen. And I charge $100 just to let you know", like okay dude. I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt, so I said, "oh okay, do you have any availability next Saturday?" to which he responds, "Look, I'm driving and I'll have to look a a calendar when I have time." After looking through multiple reviews I decided to take my new rescue Lucia to see Bobby. He had great reviews and he didn't discriminate against breeds and at the time I thought my girl was a pit bull mix and turns out I was close after a DNA test it confirms that she is an amstaff/boxer mix. I took Lucia to meet Bobby for a consultation and he showed us around his facility, which quite impressive by the way, and he immediately started working with my dog. He introduced her to a few new dogs which I was nervous about but he was in complete control and has such great instincts when it comes to dogs. He also cleaned her ears out and this was just the consultation! He suggested that she stay with him for a week (overnights included) to get her comfortable with other dogs since she is very shy and fearful of other dogs. He would send us videos and pictures of her with his pack and it was so comforting knowing that she was getting along and was becoming more and more confident. We are going to continue daycare and will actually probably start bringing our older dog (10 year old pitbull/australian shepherd mix) just to allow them to play together and learn from Bobby together. Overall, it has been a great experience. Bobby is friendly, professional, affordable and I trust him with my dog. And considering I work downtown it makes drop off and pick up super easy. Owner Bobby Schaefer is very good with dogs and I trust him to board and care for our doggies, who despite their advanced age, appear to be very comfortable with him. I have seen his facility and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor space for the doggies. He does us a huge favor by picking up and dropping off our dogs, since we are not too far from his facility. We have newly refinished hard wood floors, and he comes to our house to Dremel our dogs' nails to prevent them from damaging the floors. Using the Dremel is much less traumatic than cutting the nails, so we all appreciate that. Bobby is willing to care for our dogs both at his place and at our place, it is our option. I appreciated that. My husband and I are impressed with his professionalism and are happy to recommend him. read more

Bobby always takes exceptional care of our two large dogs. They come back happy, tired and better behaved than they were before the drop off. His facility is amazing with lots of open space for the dogs to run around but also enough areas to separate dogs by size and temper. Bobby uses extreme caution when introducing new dogs to the pack and he is an amazing knowledgeable trainer. I called this "business" with the intention on figuring out how I can keep my dog there while I go on vacation for the holiday weekend. When the gentleman answered the phone, I asked how was he doing, simply because I was trying to be polite before asking a bunch of questions. He replies by say "busy" with all seriousness in his voice. So I said "is this a bad time to call?" I wouldn't have mind calling later, he says "it depends on what you want." Meeting Bobby was one of the BEST things that has happened to us since moving to Cincinnati. I kid you not when I say that he is a "Dog Whisperer" ... completely astonishing! We have two small (and very spoiled) Yorkies, who really do not tolerate people outside our family very well. Received Bobby's name through a coworker of mine when we brought home our new puppy. We aren't too far from his facility so it definitely makes it easier but I know he travels all over taking care of fur babies! Bobby actually has a lot of clients around where I work and I see him almost daily walking dogs past my window! Bobby takes a lot of pride in what he does and the animals he takes care of. We have Bobby come twice a week for "walks" with our pup...we have a bulldog that doesn't really need walking but he does need socialization and Bobby always brings at least one more dog with him for a little play time! My pup goes to Bobby for the day on days when I know we will be gone a little longer than i'd like, football sundays and even overnights. Bishop, my dog, comes home completely worn out and happy. Bishop LOVES going to Bobby's place and all of the dogs I've seen when I've gone get along great together. Bobby has indoor and outdoor facilities which allow the dogs to really get some good play time in. He grooms our pup and trims his nails as well, Bishop smelling and looking great is definitely a plus! He has given us some great advice on training, housebreaking and even food and treat advice for our dog. I recommend Bobby to everyone I know, we completely trust him and Bishop loves him! read more

I've been taking my almost 4 year old german shepherd here for more than 6 months with day trips and extended stay trips. Bobby (the owner) helped get him retrained after I rescued him from a kill shelter and couldn't be happier! I travel for work and have a hectic schedule certain times of the year - with that being said, I can rely on Blue Dog K9 Care to make sure that my dog is well taken care of during my work trips! The space where this business resides is so large and has 2 fantastic outdoor areas for the dogs to intermingle and socialize. I dropped my dog off the other day for a weekend trip and he couldn't get out the car fast enough to see the other dogs! There was a dog there I had never seen before - and my dog just ran up and became instant friends. It was reassuring to see that the owner immerses himself into the environment so much and basically lives and breathes everything that has to do with these dogs. My bride and I have a 3 year old black lab named Zoe. We normally use a kennel located on the same street as our residence. Although Zoe always seemed well cared for, we didn't think she was getting enough exercise and play with other dogs, as the "common area" was rather small. When I happened upon Blue Dog K9 Care's website, I was immediately impressed. I phoned Bobby to set up accommodations for Zoe while we were away during a recent spring break holiday. On the afternoon that we dropped Zoe off at Blue Dog, I was not disappointed. Lots of indoor and outdoor space for Zoe to run and play with other dogs. Bobby seems totally chill, and I feel confident he gives each pet a satisfactory amount of attention. His facility appears to be an old warehouse, or perhaps a former auto mechanic shop. The important thing is that it was clean, secure, and had a ton of space for all the pups. I feel certain that Zoe will visit again. read more
