We have been taking our dog Benedict to the Pet Spot since he was a puppy, so going on five years now! We use Pet Spot for daycare, grooming (thank you so much Cat for being the best!!! My sister still drives down from Dayton after moving to get her dogs groomed by Cat), and boarding every now and then. The "floating groom" option is one of our favorites as our dog can run & play in daycare while also getting a full groom, so he's both tired & clean when he comes home. They also host fun events throughout the year where you can get a themed picture of your dog, like Halloween or St. Patrick's day. The staff is always very friendly, accommodating, and some even greet Benedict by name when we walk in the lobby. Seeing 1-star reviews here really surprises me as I know myself and many other repeat customers have had zero issues with the Pet Spot and I would feel confident recommending their services to any dog owner. I would also like to suggest to anyone reading these low reviews to take some highly sensitive pet owner's opinions with a grain of salt. This is an all around GREAT dog care facility with extremely hard-to-beat prices for the area. Seriously people - be realistic. Dogs will smell a little when they get home. The lobby might smell if someone had an accident. It's truly insane to think your dog won't smell a little bit when they come home from boarding/daycare surrounded by other dogs running and playing all day. Expect to bathe them yourselves like a normal person or pay for an exit bath (a service they offer). If you want your pup to never touch dirt or pee then you should keep them at home or shell out the cash for Rover. Just my two cents! read more

We had a very poor experience with Pet Spot. We recently brought our dog in for a daycare evaluation. The lobby smelled strongly in the morning when dropping her off, and smelled even worse in the afternoon when we picked her up. When they brought my dog back, she was whining, straining at the leash, and trying to make a beeline for the exit to get out of there asap - this is really strange behavior; my friendly extroverted pup usually wants to personally say goodbye with a wagging tail to everyone when we take her places. I asked the woman at the front desk how things had gone - she shrugged and just said, "looks like she passed." Then she said "didn't you get the email report?" I was confused and said no, I didn't have an email and didn't know what she was talking about. Also I'd literally just picked up my dog, so idk how they could have gotten a report out to me . "You'll get an email," she said confidently and dismissively. I have not received one still. We asked if it was possible to see the facility, since it was our first visit, and she instead showed us cameras from the lobby that "aren't live because the system's broken". So just static blurry photos of empty indoor play yards. We asked about how and where the dogs were able to go out to use the bathroom and she said THEY ALL JUST GO WHEREVER ON THE FLOOR and "they do their best to clean it up". At this point we left. We had to stop on the way home because she was so distressed - my housebroken dog had apparently been holding her bladder and her poop all day. She drank her entire bowl of water the second she got home, so I don't think she was given access to any while at daycare for several hours. She was limping and we have no idea why, because Pet Spot couldn't give us any information about her day. We had to give her a bath that evening because she smelled terrible. On top of all this, she's now developed a rash on her paws and belly as well as an eye infection which have required vet attention. Unsurprising since she was apparently laying around in urine and feces all day. Honestly I couldn't believe how bad of an experience we had - on a first day! - and I feel bad for my poor pup that I ever dropped her off here. Do not use this place. read more

We brought our Panda here 3 times to get groomed. First two times, literally no complaints. Panda looked so good and he acted fine after, they styled his cut just how we asked. He is a Pom and so his undercoat should not be touched. Last Tuesday, was the third time and when we brought him home he was acting strange. His coat seemed a lot lighter but didn't think too much of it. Panda didn't want to walk much. He was clearly experiencing discomfort but we just wrote it off as he doesn't love going to the groomers. That lingered for a few days. Friday, we are petting him and notice he has like small bump/scabs. In total there were about 11. 5 along his collar area and 5 in various spots on his back, one on his left hip. We went in to our vet yesterday and they think it is possibly infected hair follicles from when we went to the groomer and there is a bacterial infection. Will not be going back and would not recommend for others. read more

We board our two dogs there when we go on vacation. One is fixed (our cane corso) and the other isn't (chiweenie). We take our cane corso to daycare frequently as well, she loves going and they love having her! We know our dogs are well taken care of, we also get their nails trimmed when needed and we are always satisfied with that. We have used the grooming services there and I'm not that impressed, I feel like they don't smell that great after still so we opt out of those services from them. We boarded our dog over Easter weekend at The Pet Spot while we were travelling. Our dog seemed to really enjoy his time at The Pet Spot. We appreciated reading his report card after his visit. The price was reasonable considering the market competition. They do charge a $5 fee on holidays, which is common for dog boarding but still annoying. The only other slight annoyance is that they don't permit checkout for dogs on holidays. For example, we returned on Easter Sunday but could not pick our dog up until they opened on Monday. This is also common for the industry, but still not customer friendly. The facility is quite impressive and large. The people working the desks were very helpful and friendly. I've been taking my dog to here since he was a puppy, over 12 years. Since Jeff sold the business, the level of service and attention was noticeably not as good but this last boarding experience was the last straw for me. I recently boarded my dog in a villa for 8 days. I checked in on him on the villa camera several times during my trip to find his villa was often soiled with urine or feces that I had to call on to have it cleaned up. It made me wonder how often they were actually taking him out on potty breaks as he does not have accidents at home. Additionally, I paid for the bronze package which included playtime and I'm questioning now if that even happened. When I picked him up, he was very stressed and smelled badly of urine. He also had an ear infection and large mats around his ear from where he'd been scratching it all week. The ear infection should've easily been noticed and called out by their staff, if they had been paying attention. Lastly, they added a fee for an additional play time on his pick up day which I did not request. If I had not asked for the itemized receipt, I would have never known. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG HERE - I left a bag with my dog's food with the serving sizes literally written on the bag and the staff here still managed to underfeed him and return extra food to me even though he should've eaten everything sent with him. When I dropped my dog off he had a collar and harness on and the staff took both of them off him for seemingly so reason and put him on a rope leash that seemed to restrict his breathing. My dog was sent with a blanket and toy and that staff did not return to me when I picked my dog up until I specifically asked for them back. I brought my cavalier in for doggy daycare and my initial impression was not good from the staff and smell of the lobby. I didn't really have time to find another option so I thought I would try it out (did not have yelp before otherwise I wouldn't have!). For context, my dog is the friendliest dog you will ever meet and LOVES any and all people. He was excited and sociable to staff when I left. However when came to pick up my dog he looked terrified. He ran to me but not in an excited I'm here way. He had his tail between his legs and head down till we got home. I will never be taking my dog here again. I have never seen my dog so terrified so it horrifies me to think what could have happened to make him that way. read more

Over the past year, we have regularly brought our golden-doodle Jack to the Pet Spot for boarding, day care, and grooming. Our experience was great, until it wasn't. My wife and I had read the cautionary tales and nightmare reviews online, and never thought that would be our story, too. First, let me say that I understand things happen with dogs. They get sick sometimes. Jack has come back from Pet Spot before with an eye infection, as well as kennel cough. We chalked that up as normal. On the other hand, what happened to our dog the first week of August, 2023 was a different story. It was, in our opinion, negligence of care resulting in nearly $500 of expenses following a week of boarding and day care. It could have been worse. That same week, friends we referred there had to take their dog to urgent care with serious G.I. issues and diarrhea following being at Pet Spot. They are out over $1000 and won't be back. In our case, Jack came home to us with parasitic Giardia causing a bad case of diarrhea, an infection on his foot leading to painful swelling, an open puncture wound on his back, as well as a fracture of his paw nail where it meets the foot bone. He nearly had to have a surgical procedure to remove the infection. So, what would've made it right and had us consider bringing our pup back? Really any offer to offset our expenses that wasn't contingent on signing a non-disclosure, confidentiality, and non-disparagement agreement. Initially nothing was offered, but then they came back and offered to pay for our first vet visit charges in exchange for our silence. The Giardia and foot infection could be considered risks that come with dogs being around other dogs, but with all the recent stories I've read about dogs getting sick there, I think it may point to a lack of cleanliness at their facilities, among other issues. Most of the staff at the Pet Spot we have interacted with are wonderful, and we will miss them. The management team, on the other hand, could've offered a bunch of different things to make this situation right. I kindly asked them to see if they could come up with something to help (a discount, partial refund of his stay when all this happened, a gift card). Instead of getting back to me with a response, I was told by their insurance agent to refrain from contacting them again. When you consider leaving your dog in their care, I hope our experience will provide insight on their facilities and how you could be treated if something goes wrong during your pet's stay. read more

We found The Pet Spot because it was close to our Airbnb in Cincinnati. We had our Sheepadoodle spend two days at doggie daycare after her evaluation. The staff is formidable, polite, very good at communicating and our puppy was tired when we picked her up both days. Awesome pet facility. Emma was helpful as well as others who greeted us. We received texts during the day telling us how our Olive was doing. Communication was top notch and really made me feel better about leaving our baby girl. For grooming we usually take our French Bulldog to Pet Smart in Oakley or Laundromutt in Fairfax. Both places were booked until the beginning of July. We needed to get this done due to our family vacation we planned for the following weekend. Plus we have busy work hours during the week wouldn't allow us to take him. Plus he was dyer need of a nail trim. My Mr did some research and this came up. I always see the sign on the lateral and thought it was just a boarding spot. I didn't know they did grooming as well. We called and they were able to take him in. However, they do need updated vaccines records. Thankfully I had that on hand. Lobby is closed but staff was ready to take your pet at the door. They do take extra safety precautions and very gentle with Billy. We told him he had a neck injury so he is not able to wear a collar around his neck. They took care of him and he came out happy. We dropped him off and it only took an hour and a half. They did a really good job on the grooming and nail trim. $25.00 for bath + $10.00 for nail trim= $35.00. What a great experience and I'm glad we took him here. We are considering bringing him back. Thanks to the staff for the hard work and taking him in right away. Greatly appreciated. read more

I've seen the sign for this place many times while driving on the Norwood Lateral but didn't really think too much of it. That is, until my lady and I needed to get our pup some grooming in the form of a bath and a nail trim. Usually, we went to either Petsmart or Laundromutt, but both of those places were booked until next month, so after some quick thinking and research, The Pet Spot came up. I gave 'em a call and they said they could take our pup right in. We arrived later, and though their lobby is closed, an employee greeted us at the door, and we told her what we needed for our pup. We also told her that Billy had neck surgery before, so they took that into precaution before taking him in. They asked for vaccination info beforehand, and luckily, my lady had thar info with her. About an hour and a half after dropping Billy off with them, they called to tell us they were done. Billy came out very happy, clean, and his nails freshly trimmed. They did a really good job with our pup. As for the cost, the bath costed $25 and the nail trimming costed $10, so it was $35 total, which both my lady and I were happy with. I could definitely see going back here again. The entire staff are very friendly and make sure to take care of each dog as if it were their own. Billy seemed to like it there too. read more

I can honestly say that I've never had such a worse experience. We actually visited them approximately 5 months ago to board our cat for 3 days while we went on a short trip. We had a coupon for a free day with a multi day visit and were told we'd pay at pickup. We returned from our trip to have them tell us they wouldn't honor the coupon since the stay wasn't long enough, we paid the $50 and left. Only today, 5 months later to get a text message from one of the employees and no official invoice or explanation demanding $71 from us, apparently for a late pickup fee that they only now found. If you value your money and your sanity, I would take my pet anywhere other than here. read more

We took our Border Collie mix to get groomed- and to be totally transparent- we waited way too long to get him groomed. They were able to get Ares an appointment the next day, and they were incredibly polite and professional. They also did a phenomenal job! The only reason I recently boarded my dogs here was because our dog/house sitter backed out on is last minute. Normally we take our dogs to one of two farms out east of Eastgate of we have to board them (their costs are $20/dog and includes day care, walk, etc. at no extra cost). There are pros and cons to The Pet Spot. First, it's close to where we live, so getting there is easy. Second, they do make sure dogs have fun and you can watch via webcams. They do love the pets staying there. However, it is SUPER expensive in comparison to what we pay our house/dog sitter or the other places we board. Their least expensive boarding option starts at $26/night for 1 dog - 2nd dog gets a discount. But then if you want walks - aside from letting them out to pee - or daycare, the fees keep going up. It's $12/day/dog for daycare and $9/day/dog for a walk. One positive is that if your dog stays 7 days or more they get a bath included. Also a lot of the outdoor play areas are still on concrete or AstroTurf type stuff instead of real grass. While we would love to support The Pet Spot more often, our pocketbook just cannot afford it (even with the 20% military discount). read more

I have been taking my dog to the Pet Spot for boarding and for doggy day care for a while now. I chose the Pet Spot because of the good reviews online, and I'm really glad I did. I only want the best for my pup! The Pet Spot is very clean and modern. When I went in for a tour the first time I was blown away by the facilities. They have webcams so even if you're traveling you can watch your dog play over the internet. The daycare facilities are very nice, and they have lots of options for boarding (you can even get them a private suite if your dog is extra fancy). Make sure you ask for the tour before you drop your dog off here. They will show you around and give you a free day of day care to get your dog used to the place. We bring our dog here for doggy daycare about once a week for socializing and to get some energy out of him (he's a puppy so he has a LOT of energy). He always comes home completely exhausted and happy, which makes me happy. I opted to get the 10 day pass, which saved me a few bucks. Typically day care costs $23/day, but if you get the 10 day pass it's only $21/day. And with the 10 day pass I get two free dog washes as well. Then all I do is go in in the morning is they punch my card and take my doggy away. It's so easy! I also love that they will trim my dogs nails if he needs it for free. If you have the money up front I would definitely recommend buying a pass because it will save you money if you keep bringing your dog here often. We've boarded our dog here before for up to a week. The cheapest boarding option is $26/night plus we always add daycare during the day for an extra $12/day. That way we can play and socialize all day and then just go to sleep at night. He seems to have a great time, even when we are boarding him. I've boarded him at other places before and they don't play with him and he was so depressed when we took him home. He's always happy when we take him to the Pet Spot, and he loves coming here. I haven't tried the grooming yet, but I plan on taking my dog to get groomed here soon. I've been very satisfied with all my interactions with the staff at The Pet Spot. They know my dog by name when we walk in, which considering the volume of dogs they see really surprised me at first and made me feel comfortable leaving him there. I've boarded him here for a week, and although my dog is pretty anxious and didn't do so well in the evenings, he seems a lot more confident since coming home. Pick-up and drop-off is fairly easy, and I love their rewards program (get a free day of daycare after 10 visits!). I'm deducting one star just because the quality of the webcams is so poor. I've looked at Dogtown's online footage and they blow TPS out of the water in terms of quality. I put a bright harness on my black dog so I can maybe sometimes see which one is him if he isn't moving too much and is somewhat near the camera. read more

We have brought our dog here several times, for boarding-daycare and grooming the staff is hit or miss, mainly a miss at daycare. Generally when we walk in with our dog the greeting is very friendly and the hand off for doggy daycare/boarding is easy. However, that's where it really ends in terms of the positives I would say. If your dog is in daycare, they have cameras-which might as well be useless as you cannot even tell which shape is your dog unless they are standing perfectly still for longer than ten seconds. Given the amount of dogs they have, and how busy they seem to be I would think they can afford to upgrade their system. It really cannot be that be of an expense in this day and age. If you call and ask how your dog is, you will get a generic response- at pickup, again if you ask how your dog did in boarding or daycare, a generic response from the person handing you your dog. Often when you say the name of your dog to the daycare staff member, they will ask you to describe him or her to them. No one ever seems to engage with me about how my dog does do, I assume she does alright as she is always tired at the end of the day. However, based off of the lack of engagement from daycare/boarding staff it makes me thing there is a severe lack of communication due to the large amount of dogs they see there every day. I can forgive them for maybe being short with me if there was a line of people behind me waiting for their dogs, but generally when I pick up there isn't. Unless you bring your dog here everyday, do not expect the staff to care beyond a Good Morning- or a Have a good night, my dog seems to get mildly excited about coming here. However due to the lack of personal attention the staff has continued to exhibit over multiple $600+ boarding stays, and days at doggy day care, I think we will be trying somewhere else. read more

Our pup has visited The Pet Spot several times over the last few months. He has gone for doggy daycare and we have also boarded him for a long weekend. Our experience so far has been great! The building is exceptionally clean (or at least the client facing areas are). The staff has been friendly each visit. After the first couple of times they knew him by name as soon as we walked in the door. After each visit he has come home nice and worn out from playing with the other pups all day. If you board your dogs here, be sure to ask for daycare in addition to boarding. If you only board them they won't get to play with the other dogs while they visit. There are lots of options when checking your dog in... In addition to boarding/daycare you can opt for personal time with a human, training, grooming, etc. My biggest concern with leaving my dog here is that while I believe they have access to the outside (weather permitting), the dogs just "go" wherever they want inside all day. I think this has lead to some confusion for my dog, who has gone inside our house a few times since visiting here. This is probably a one off situation for my dog, but I'm not sure how to solve it without just not sending him here anymore. For long stays we have opted to find a dog sitter so our dog can get more one on one attention in a quieter environment. But we still love The Pet Spot for daycare and even short weekend visits here and there. read more

Very disappointed after our dogs stay last night/today. We decided to board our dog on our wedding day after having multiple people recommend Pet Spot. When my husband picked Rosie up this morning she seemed fine. Once we got her home we noticed multiple wounds on her stomach. She has also thrown up five times since we got her home. Nothing like the stress of a sick dog to keep us up the night before our honeymoon. My puppy has been enjoying daycare. It's really a great way for him to get out that intense puppy energy. I like how they sort the dog by size and have daycare managers in the room with the dogs. The facility is clean and the staff are professional and helpful. I especially am a fan of the weekday 7a-7p hours as I can leave my puppy there most of the day and get the most out of his day at daycare. With your daycare pass they will also clip your dogs nails for free which is awesome. To sign your dog up, you just have to do a free evaluation day to see how your dog does at the pet spot. That's right, your first day is free! They let your pup stay the whole day then provide you a report card on their behavior. After, they have a coupon on their website for new clients to get your first 10 visit pass for 85 dollars. It's a steal because normally that would cost 220. My one complaint about daycare is the cameras--the web cams are so blurry they may as well not have them. I can't see a single thing. They also offer grooming and boarding. I probably won't use the boarding much because while it is clean and well kept, your dog only gets let out of the kennel for 3, 15 minute play sessions a day and to add on walks or daycare they charge extra. read more

I am a new customer to PetSpot and I am extremely disappointed. I was recommended to take my 8 month chocolate lab Reese here by several co-workers and friends. I was thrilled to hear such great things so I decided to take advantage of the $85 Groupon which included the temperament test, two grooming's and 10 daycare visits. After purchasing the Groupon we were excited to try it out, I was amazed by how clean and welcoming the space was when walking in. Everyone was so friendly and I felt great about leaving my pup here. Reese seemed to love it, was so worn out after me picking her up and I felt really good about the purchase. A little about my pup. I am aware she is a puppy and just like humans can get viruses and can pick up things quicker than older dogs because her immunity is much weaker. However, Reese has had all of her vaccines, bordetella shot, etc. She has been to parks in the warmer months, and has been to training classes with other dogs. Let's just say PetSpot is not her first exposure to other dogs. After her first visit to PetSpot, within 24-48 hours she developed a terrible cough. Of course we had to take her to our local vet and $62 later we were told as we expected that she had Kennel Cough. Thus she had to be away from dogs for 10 days and take her antibiotics. I gave PetSpot a call and the owner called me back the next day just saying thanks for calling and hope to see you back. I appreciated that and like I said, understand dogs get sick. After debating on taking Reese back I decided I would give it another try. She clearly loved playing with dogs and the staff was always friendly, so I said why not lets go. Well now I am writing this as a very frustrated customer because my dog was at the PetSpot on Tuesday and was so sick this morning to where she would not eat. You know when a lab does not eat it is not a good sign. So $93 later find out she has a bacterial infection, where she had to get a shot to make her stomach feel better, prescribed food to help calm her upset stomach moving forward AND new antibiotics to fight the infection. So I write this to say I am disappointed. I am disappointed that it was an $85 Groupon for 3 visits to Daycare but 2 visits to the vet's office. Again I understand dogs get sick just like humans get sick. But 2 times with different scenarios and the common factor is PetSpot has prevented me from ever wanting to send my dog back. Which is extremely unfortunate because I did enjoy taking her there. UPDATE 1/8/16: Jeff the General Manager gave me a call. He explained how they clean and what they clean with etc. I appreciate the follow up, but still nervous to take my pup back at this time. Hopefully moving forward we can. read more

It's unfortunate that The Pet Spot does not accept Pit Bulls or Pit Bull mixes. My little gal is the sweetest most gentle dog I have ever met and to see animal businesses discriminating makes me very sad. She loves everyone and every dog. I found your deal online and was super excited to find a local doggie daycare for my pup as we just moved to the area. But then I saw that The Pet Spot will not let my dog enter their doors. So disappointing. My pup was attending Camp Bow Wow in our old neighborhood and we will definitely be going to the one in our new neighborhood. I brought my small 17 lb dog in to get her nails trimmed. When I came in the woman who was at the desk was annoyed that I was even speaking to her. When she went to go find a groomer she was not happy. When the groomer came out she stunk of cigarette smoke. When I asked if I could come back with her she said "dogs usually become more anxious when their owners come back", okay I can understand that, but the "groomer" knew nothing about my dog and my dogs timidness made me nervous. She never asked what my dogs name was and would not use the harness that was on her, or her leash. She insisted on using their leash wrapped around my dogs neck. Once I see where she was trying to walk (drag) my small dog toward, a room that had at least 6 dogs that were around 50 pounds jumping at the windows and on the door, I immediately said no, we are going somewhere else. They did not try to help the situation, or clear the dogs out of the room we we're headed, they didn't say a word as I struggled to take the tightly wrapped leash off of her neck. read more

I have been going to the Pet Spot for everything since we got our first pup in 2009. We do everything from renewing their Hamilton County dog licenses to doggie daycare to training here. First, their staff is always friendly and approachable. From owning dogs as a kid, my husband was really tentative about kennels from touring some terrible ones with his childhood pup. We went to the Pet Spot, and he was impressed (as I was I, even though I was a first-time dog owner) and we loved the cleanliness of the facility. We happily sent our beagle/basset mix for a weekend for boarding. She loved it, and came back with a report card saying if she ate, what she liked, etc. We took our beagle/basset here for training and completed a Good Manners class with Nick Hof - an excellent trainer, although he no longer is here. We had such a good experience - especially since this pup is a little ... special, and she had a lot of weird little quirks to be addressed. The class was wonderful, and we learned so much from it. Nick even brought in his dog to play with ours, who we thought had some aggression issues That brings up our next part. We worked with trainer Eric, who is still there, to work over our dog's weird aggression issues and find out what in the world is up with our pup. Eric worked with us at Ault Park with his dog Max, and basically found our pup wasn't socialized well and just played bad. Eric took our dog into the "max pack", a special part of their daycare for rough players, and she acclimated and can now play in normal puppy daycare. Eric is a great trainer - I highly suggest him as well. We got a second dog, and we have been boarding them both there and sending them to daycare. They always remember our dogs by name (which is amazing, there have to be a ton of dogs I see) and are nice and friendly. Our dogs do well and have never come home sick or anything. We did a second round of training with our corgi mix with Lee - who is also a great trainer. She was patient with our dog and really works well with a variety of dogs - everything from our hyper/social dog to a very timid unwilling dog. We love the Pet Spot. They are really great, friendly, and clean. Plus, you can watch on webcams to see what the pups are up to. Even there you can see how clean they are - they are always ready for accidents with brooms, mops, and sanitizer. They move fast! read more
