Our Phoebe is a handful, and that's being polite. She looks sweet, but looks aren't everything. The folks at Dogtown love Phoebe and Phoebe loves (most) of them. Their patience and perseverance led to a bond that we were surprised happened. She started in gen-pop (it's not a prison) but had some issues. Instead of turning her away, she spent some time with Donna, their behavior specialist, and now she's back in gen-pop without issue. We would recommend Dogtown to anyone. Don't go. Whole place smells like piss, very dirty, lots of dogs in very crowed spaces. Their grooming sucks. I called for pricing for a simple trim for my long-haired Bernese Mountain Dog. For some reason, they sent a confirmation saying "Shave Down" which was never even an option to request. I called before and told 2 employees in person, including the assistant manager, that I just want a simple trim and not a shave. They still shaved him and charged $30 more than they originally quoted. For some reason I was never able to just talk to the groomer during drop-off or pick-up. I was a bit of a hack job. Please please please stay away from Dogtown- We had dropped off our (at the time) 4 Month Pup for doggy daycare, soon as we left they threw him in a room full of multiped dogs and unsupervised - after already asking them to keep him up front since he was a COVID dog and was afraid of everything. He spent 8 hours in the corner shaking out of fear. Second day- they put him up front AFTER i called and complained. Came to pick him up, asking if he ate, they looked at me as if i had 8 heads and claimed they forgot to feed my 4 month pup or give him water for 9 hours because "they were busy"....INSANE and INHUMANE. That was the LAST time my dog had went there. A friend of mine- her 4 pound Yorkie was KILLED because they (Erlanger dogtown) put her in a room with BIG dogs and they dragged her like a stuffed animal( no supervision), then LIED to the owner about what happened. And proceeded to place the dog in the freezer until she was picked up by the owner....Unbelievable. Please STAY AWAY- they do not care for your animal they only care for your money- and there is TOO MANY dogs shoved into a room. it is a ticking bomb. read more

I use to take my dog China here. She is 8 years old and has been going to daycare her whole life without incident. A few weeks ago that changed. She was attacked while in their care. She was given back to me swollen on one side of her body with a puncture wound. Once the vet shaved her side they could see the other dogs whole mouth print on her body. Once she got home she started limping. She had blood all over my car and my bed when she got home. I ignored Dogtown's advice. I rushed her to the emergency vet where she needed staples and pain medication!! There has been no follow up from dogtown they haven't even called to see how China is doing even if she was "aggressively playing" like they tried to suggest to me. I will make sure I will put this post on EVERYTHING associated with this company so other petparents know what they are getting into. read more

Family moved to Cincy in July. Dogtown became an immediate "must" as hours, availability to bring pet in, and staff, are awesome. They're super helpful with our 2-year-old Basset/Pit. Donna (head trainer) and staff have helped us immensely in building confidence in our former shelter dog (we've had him 7 months), who has struggled with coexisting with other dogs. Appreciate their cameras so you can keep an eye on your buddy online. (Got to watch staff for a little bit and see how they worked with him.) I can't imagine it's perfect there among the dogs. Absolutely awful service!!!! I dropped my Great Dane off for the weekend on a Friday (1year) who is obviously up to date on all his shots/vaccinations. When I came to pick him up on Monday I noticed when we arrived at home that his groin area was very red, inflamed, and swollen. I called Dogtown and they told me they noticed but forgot to tell me. I then proceeded to call the vet, he told me to bring him in. After doing so, the vet informed us that he had a double eye infection along with an infection in his penis. Our vet said that it could have been worse but we took all of the precautions and sought out treatment in a timely matter. When I picked him up, they didn't call/notify me of anything that had happened, instead told me it happened that morning, when clearly that was not the case. The doctor stated the infection of that matter could not have developed just from one day. It's super frustrating to come home from a vacation and on top of the fee for boarding I paid I had to pay another hefty chunk on the vet bill including medications to treat my dog. This is not my first horrible incident with this place. I have picked my other dog up from this place with gashes on his face. I expressed my concerns to Dogtown in a very professional and direct matter and they offered nothing other than a statement that they felt bad. It makes me sick the amount of money I have given this place for my fur babies. They are worth it but I expect them to give quality care and that is not the case for Dogtown. read more

There is no other place I trust to leave my dog other than Dogtown. We have used both the daycare services as well as overnight boarding and in both cases the staff is very communicative and keeps us in the loop of exactly how our dog does. The staff will also pay attention to when our dog needs a break after playing all day and ensures she gets some time to rest. We've worked with their trainer, Donna, on specific issues our dog was experiencing and we have seen SO much improvement both at Dogtown and at home. We absolutely love Dogtown! read more

Unfortunately I have to update my previous review, as the last few times we've taken our pup there's been an issue, today being the last. During half days, they aren't supposed to go into nap time, however the last 3 times we told them half day, we look on the cameras and she's in nap time...for 2 hours. I take my dog there to play, not to sleep if shes only there 4-5 hours...sort of defeats the purpose of us doing a half day. And one of those times she was hiding under the bed being barked at, probably scared, while the person who is supposed to watch them sat on their phone. Also - while I appreciate the 24/7 drop-off and pickup, I shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes at the door when I can see someone in the back, once again, on their phone. I don't feel like my dog has been getting the care or attention she deserves when she's there because there are just SOO many dogs. I'm not asking for snuggles in the play room, but any time we get on the cameras, there's nobody to be found with them or they're just standing around. I don't get it. My dog was about 5 inches from being attacked by another dog in the lobby today as we were trying to leave and whoever was working just sort of...watched. Is that what happens when we aren't around? This is the best doggie daycare in the area! All 100% cage free and a person even sleeps in a room with the dogs when you board them!! The caretakers are wonderful!! Nick is one of them who LOVES my dog and all the others as well. He goes above and beyond to make sure all the puppies are happy and well cared for! I give him a full 5 stars!! In fact since he is also a Michigan fan and that alone gives him another 10 stars!!! Go Blue!! Lol! Susan, the manager is superb in all aspects of the business! Please message me if you have had any recent issues with Dogtown. I strongly urge anyone considering Dogtown to read about my experience. My first time using them for boarding was on a six day trip. When we picked up Winston, our 30 lb basenji, he was painfully thin and coughing excessively. Please be aware that kennel cough can happen anywhere, but the onus falls on the boarding place to quarantine the dog and contact the "parents." Nothing was ever relayed to us. We scheduled a vet appointment immediately, but his health deteriorated quickly and his fever hit 106 before the vet could see him. He ended up developing pneumonia, and needed one day in the hospital and two days of constant care with IV's in the vets office. It ended up costing over $2,000. When we contacted Dogtown, an employee acknowledged that they had a few cases of kennel cough reported, but nothing was ever mentioned to us about dogs being quarantined. I tried to resolve the issue with management. All I wanted was a refund for my boarding package and only 20% of the medical cost. They instead had their lawyer send me a threatening lawyer claiming defamation. Would an aggressive letter be needed if they felt like they acted appropriately? read more

This place has been a God send for us. My dog Luke is a rescue, & has had a slow go of it with socialization, both with other dogs & with people. They have web cams where you can check on the pups. I left on a business trip today & connected to check on Luke around 230 pm. I just happened to catch the caregiver (they do their best to always have a person with the dogs 24/7) loving on Luke & him seeking attention from her. This absolutely warmed my heart to see her loving on him & him eating up the attention. Thank you for taking such loving care of my boy!! Took Buster for his evaluation today. Basically a half price day of daycare! He's an old fellow protective of his treats. I appreciated the Senior doggy area by the counter and the squishy couch for Buster. When I came to get him he barely noticed me he was having such a great time. I've been bringing my rescue, Lucy Blue to Dogtown for 3+ years now! Nothing but positive things to say. The handlers really care for my dog (and all the dogs) and she loves it there! She comes home tired! They wipe her down at the end of the day with nice smelling pet wipes. They check on the dogs hourly to be sure they don't have any injuries, etc (which is always a possibility when a dog is in a group setting). There was an outbreak of "kennel cough" (likely from a dog owner that didn't follow the rules of vaccination and of leaving sick dogs at home). Dogtown kept calling with updates and ended up closing temporarily so they could properly disinfect. They really care about the safety of the dogs and treat my dog like their own. read more

I was very impressed with Dogtown. My dog was rescued from a hoarding situation and daycare was hard on her. Dogtown kept my dog behind the reception desk with older and shy dogs, until she was ready to join the regular population. Having the webcams to check on her was very helpful, and shows how transparent this facility is. The price is very reasonable. It cost me the same to have a dog walker take her out to potty twice a day. When I came home after she had only been given potty breaks, she was an insane ball of energy. She came home from Dogtown absolutely exhausted. I'm sure some was stress exhaustion, but better than her being bored all day. I now live in DC, the cost is almost twice that of Dogtown and there are no webcams. The facility got good reviews, but appreciate what you have Cincinnati. read more

Our dog was attacked on her last visit to Dogtown. When we picked her up, she had a two inch gash on the inside of her ear and dried blood caked down the side of her face. It was very clear that the staff was unaware of the attack and had taken no measures to clean or disinfect the wound. I realize that dogs will scuffle from time to time, but it's the boarding establishment's responsibility to handle the matter professionally. Dogtown failed miserably in this regard. We had to bring our dog to the vet first thing in the morning and they warned us that she could have lost her ear if the wound had been allowed to stay as dirty as it was for any longer. When we called Dogtown, we were fed a bunch of lies. They never called to find out what happened at the vet, nor did they seem to care about the hundreds of dollars that we were forced to spend at the vet because they had failed to properly address the situation at the time of the incident. After two years as a very loyal customer (boarding 20+ times per year), I no longer feel comfortable bringing my dog to this establishment. Ever since the owner (Megan) stepped away from the day to day operations, this place has gone downhill in a hurry. Hopefully Dogtown is able to figure out what has gone wrong and take some corrective actions to re-establish themselves as the premier 24 hour boarding center in Cincinnati. As a long time customer, I wish them nothing but the best, but I will not be risking Sammie's safety by boarding her with them anytime soon. read more

I was in the area on a business trip and had a late dinner meeting which is why I chose Dogtown. My dog is a small Chihuahua and was assured that he would be kept with toy breeds only. Well during the course of the evening, I logged onto their web cams and saw that he was not with toy breeds, he was mixed in with larger dogs. First strike against them. I picked up my dog later that night and once I returned to my hotel room I noticed a gash in his rear leg, it was bad, but not panic I need to take him to the vet right now bad, but it was an obvious injury that bleed out. This was strike two. As I said, my dog is a small Chihuahua and I know that he would have let out a loud yelp when receiving this injury. I was not told a single thing about the incident when I picked up my dog. If they tell me that they didn't hear anything then that tells me that they weren't being properly supervised. If somebody was in fact supervising, then they purposely hid this information from me when I picked up my dog. That is strike three. I will be returning to Cincinnati for a second business trip and will be bringing my dog along, but there is no way in hell I'll let him stay in this establishment again. I do not appreciate being lied to or having injuries to my animal being hid from me. If you need to board your dog for a few hours, take my word for it, skip this place. It's way overcrowded, understaffed, and they will try to hide any injuries your dog receives, just read some of the other reviews to see that I'm not the only one that has had this experience. read more

For a long time, i would have given this place 5 stars. My dog went there every weekday for over a year (September 2012 - January 2014). I thought it was great. But over time, I started to see that there were real issues. Now granted, some dogs might do better in this type of an environment than others. But I want to give everyone out there a fair warning... My dog started out as a sweet, friendly, vivacious pup. When she was at Dogtown, she seemed to interact fine with the other dogs (from what I could tell on the webcams). After about 6 months, I noticed that she started having leash aggression. When taking her for a walk, she would bark obnoxiously whenever she saw another dog. For awhile, as long as she could be introduced to the dog, she would be ok. But a few months later, she started snapping at other dogs whenever they would come close. Although she's never truly bit another dog, I feared that the behavior would escalate. I've been through 2 training facilities with her in order to correct the issue (namely, social anxiety with resulting aggression). She has no problems with people, just other dogs. Both Master trainers agree that my dog witnessed aggression at the daycare. Who knows if it was one event, or multiple events over time. But she was scared to death. They both recommended that I no longer take her to Dogtown. She has not been there since January 2014, and after intense training, I think she's doing better. But the underlying fear of other dogs still remains. It breaks my heart because she used to be so playful. We used to go to the dog park and she would run and play. Now she just hides and shakes. I saw the coverage of the dog attack in December 2013, and I wonder if she witnessed this. Again, there may be some dogs that do fine. But be cautious... read more

I don't know where to begin. I'll start by saying that my dog is indeed "the one who failed the test today." At least that is how she is referred to by the Dogtown (Uptown) District Manager, Susan. This morning I dropped my dog off for her first time at doggie daycare. My initial concerns: I did not receive a confirmation call, which they said would happen. I was not given a tour or short orientation, which they said would happen. We walked in at 7:45 AM and I was in my car by 7:50. I was surprised by how quickly my dog was whooshed away from me our first time being there. "So is she just good to go?" I asked through the gate as they performed the initial temperament eval., which she apparently passed. I was told to pick my dog up somewhere between 4-12 hours. I then casually watched her on the live webcam for the next few hours while I was at work. She seemed fine. I received a voicemail at Noon saying, "Maia is not going to pass the evaluation. She's being aggressive with the other dogs. She's been fighting a lot. It's not going to work out." 10 min. later, I rushed in asking, "What happened?" I received the same vague response. "Can I see the webcam footage?" "No." This is my first dog. We adopted her from STAF last May. According to the shelter, she did swimmingly with other dogs. We put her through obedience training, have regularly taken her to dog parks, on hikes, etc. She's been around other dogs. HOWEVER, my full-time job is working with students. Nothing irks me more than when a parent chooses to only see their child through rose-colored glasses. I love my dog but my dog is not perfect. Nevertheless, I was still shocked. I was confused and flustered--having to immediately and unexpectedly leave work. I was desperately looking for more info. I wanted to better understand the situation. What happened? What should I do? If I knew my dog to be aggressive I wouldn't have taken her there. Kayla at the front desk didn't seem to have the slightest idea of how to handle any kind of unfavorable situation. She couldn't seem to explain dog behavior or what could have been the cause of this particular aggression. She looked at me like a deer in headlights. Another woman began to intervene. She immediately became hasty and defensive. "What is the problem? The safety of all dogs is our priority. I'm not sure what you're expecting." I assured them that I wholeheartedly understand that safety is the priority. But God forbid I expect more of an explanation, to know what exactly happened or a mere ounce of empathy. "I'm sorry your dog didn't pass. I don't know what you want me to do." Afterwards, I called my former dog trainer, Mike Dixon/Tri-State Canine Obedience (highly recommend). He told me that: Some dogs do well at dog parks and don't do well in doggie daycare. Some dogs respond negatively to confined and overcrowded spaces. Maia had separation anxiety when we first rescued her and that could have played a role as this was the first time being left alone in a new place. All of this is invaluable, insightful information. He was able to give me a whole slew of useful recommendations to help me learn more and become a better dog owner. Again, I understand the priority of doggie daycare is safety. If my dog was aggressive I'm glad she was taken out. My only goal was for this to be a beneficial experience. Maia now has a bleeding cut under her left eye and scratch marks under her paws. She's a dog. Incidents happen. I just wish to have seen or been told what exactly happened and why. But after taking a closer look at the Waiver Agreement, it is eye-opening to see how much liability you actually sign away. The 20 boxes you initial basically say: "We the handlers at Dogtown are not responsible for anything that happens to them while in our care." I later called to get the names of who I spoke with when I picked up my dog. After immediately being passed off, I was greeted with, "Why do you need to know who is working? Who is this?" I told her that my dog, Maia, was there and involved in an incident. "Oh, the one who failed the test today? I'm not giving you that info." When I asked why not she told me her name was Susan and hung up. It seems like this has happened a lot at Dogtown. To be defensive, uncompassionate and dismissive tells me that these two people, Kayla and Susan, do not have enough quality or professional experience working with people or dogs for that matter. My remaining questions: Why isn't there any kind of first-time orientation for the dog owners? Why are we not allowed to see the webcam tapes when an incident occurs? Who was monitoring this particular incident? Why couldn't that person tell me what happened in detail? Simply put, Dogtown is unprofessional and overcrowded, doesn't appear to be monitored by trained professionals, has poor customer service and a severe lack of interpersonal skills. If you and your dogs want to to be treated with empathy and respect, do not take them here! read more

Dogtown is absolutely wonderful. Our dog gets so excited as soon as he realizes he's going to daycare and he practically runs inside as soon as we open the car door. we love being able to watch him on the cameras whenever we want. The staff is also incredible. Last time we took our dog there, he got in a small scuttle with some other over excited dogs (which could happen anywhere!!) and got a small cut on his ear. They separated the dogs instantly, cleaned out the cut, and let him relax and rest with one of the pack leaders. They also called us right to let us know everything that happened and even called back to check on him the next day after we picked him. It was honestly the smallest cut and our dog was unfazed by it but all of the staff was so kind and concerned for our baby. Our dog is definitely in good hands at Dogtown. read more

My Benji loves Dogtown!! I started him at the Uptown location in December 2017 and couldn't be happier. I often have events downtown, so it's super convenient to drop him off on my way to an evening work event or when the weather isn't ideal for his daily walk! The staff is always pleasant and quick to get Benji settled or bring him out when he's ready to go home. The pricing is unbeatable too! Without Dogtown Cincinnati, I could not have gotten my wonderful puppy. Working a job where my hours are long and irregular, it is unfair to leave my 6 month old Jack-Russell/Beagle at home. I can drop my dog off anytime I want from 5AM to 11PM and pick him up when I need to and he is there, well taken care of, well fed, and well exercised. Megan, the owner of Dogtown loves every dog as her own and is very attentive and flexible. All the dogs are temperment tested and with proof of vaccinations. I eagerly anticipated Dogtown Cincinnati's opening for months as a cage-free boarding facility and doggie daycare that was convenient to downtown and fairly priced. We've been doing weekly daycare for our 2 dogs and had one long boarding stint (10 days) since they've opened and I've been very happy with each experience. The owner and staff are all very friendly and seem to genuinely love animals. The 'valet' option for pick up/drop off is very convenient, especially when I'm on my way to work and trying to save time and keep the dog hair on my clothes to a minimum! Calling when you're on your way will ensure your dog(s) are brought right out to you! There's a viewing window so you can watch your dogs play in daycare unseen by them just for the peace of mind on your first visit and webcams you can access from their website to check on them during the day if you want anytime. The dogs are always worn out and calm after a day at daycare, which is the best part! The dogs have time inside, outside, and also 'nap time' during the day. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. I love the cage-free aspect of the boarding. My dogs just sleep on their beds at home at night, so it's very comforting that they can do the same there (or on a couch or wherever they want within the room) and a member of staff is there 24 hours a day. The fact that this place is 24 hours and open 365 days a year is amazing. You can pick up or drop off on your schedule, not theirs, which is especially convenient for boarding around holidays. And they define a "day" of daycare to be 14 hours so I can easily drop them off before work, do errands or even go out for dinner, all in one visit. Prices are comparable with other quality daycare/boarding places in Cincinnati, falling even on the more reasonable end. They also have full grooming facilities and you can book extra services like walks if you want. read more

Strongly suggested if you are thinking of using their service take your pet for an evaluation prior to needing their services. They do not simply take walk in's your pet needs to be evaluated for a day prior to a full day visit. Meghan the manager is just great as well as all the staff. We absolutely love Dogtown! It is a little more expensive than other places around town but in my opinion it is worth it! We had taken our timid dog to another popular daycare/boarding facility in town. After a few times there, she would not get out of the car and I would have to push her in the door. We've been to Dogtown for overnights 4 times now and never have a problem getting our dog in the door. She jumps right out of the car and runs in. I love being able to watch her on the webcam 24 hours a day. It makes me feel better leaving her when I know someone is always with her and she is not caged. read more
