I haven't ever written a review but I wanted to today. We took our Sheltie to Petey's for grooming. We have only had her for a few months having adopted her from a rescue. Her previous life was that of a breeder at a puppy mill. This was the first time we took her to be groomed. The staff was very considerate and understanding. She still has a way to go to get socialized but will not hesitate to take her back. We are very grateful for their care. read more

I won't go so far as to say that I owe Petey's my life; however, I can say without exaggeration that I attribute the good health of my lower back to the dog wash located in this compact but mighty shop. (If you think I'm exaggerating, please come to my home and bathe my 80lb Old English Sheepdog in my bathtub...and then try to stand up straight!) For $15 you get the elevated tub/sprayer for as long as you need, an ample supply of shampoo and conditioner, a rubber apron, and use of a super-sonic blow dryer. BEST DEAL EVER. When said Sheepdog needs more skilled care, Petey's offers an array of professional and caring grooming services. For $110 they sheer her like the oversized lamb that she is; if you wince at this price, please consider that at end of a long winter, the shag to cost ratio lands squarely in my favor. Caveat: Call well in advance to book grooming services, e.g., book at Halloween for a clean, Christmas canine. The shop also has a well curated selection of pet supplies--food, treats, collars, leashes, etc. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and patient with my shaggy and somewhat ill-behaved beast. read more

My friend Katherine referred me to Petey's and I am so thrilled that she did. My pug Miles is 16 years old and I know he is not the most able-bodied young man he once was. The staff at Petey's is so gentle and kind with him when he is there to get groomed. Not only are they friendly, but the communication is easy and staff seem knowledgable about any questions I have had. Parking lot is convenient and the location in Clifton is easy for me to get to. If I could give 10 stars I would! We're from out of state & our pups needed a wash. The self washing station was amazing. The staff are very friendly & helpful. They have multiple soap options, ear cleaner, conditioner spray, blow dryer & plenty of towels. Even aprons to protect your clothes. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely return! They also have a nice selection of pet products! Treats, toys, candles, sprays, exc. Another bonus is the building has client parking in the back! What a cute local business to go to! I called to get a reservation to get my pups nails trimmed and they got me in same day! I have a nervous puppy but he was super comfortable with the groomer. They took my dog into the back and was done within 5 minutes, all while I chatted with the very kind woman at the front desk. A very affordable and pleseant experience. Covid edit- they require everyone to wear a mask and provide them if you don't have them which was a very nice touch. They have you take your dogs collar off and provide their own that they can sanitize which was also very nice. It felt like they were responding very well. read more

I've always taken my dog to the vet next door and he really needed a haircut so I called and scheduled an appointment with Petey's Pet Shop. They were able to find me a next-day appointment, but my dog had other ideas and ended up having to go to the vet instead for something wrong he ate. Petey's was awesome about rescheduling that appointment and I couldn't be happier with the results!! I have a tiny 5 lb yorkie who I avoid taking to the groomer's just because he is so small, but the staff at Petey's treated him so well he had exactly the haircut I wanted when I picked him up and even a cute bandana! He was happy and jumping around so I knew he had been well cared for. The lady at the front desk, who is extremely helpful and patient, told me he was calm and sweet and ended up charging me a lower price than quoted on the phone because he was so easy to take care of. That, to me, shows that they truly value the costumer more than just the money and I will definitely be bringing Finny back! read more

I'm so grateful to have a place like Petey's in the neighborhood. First of all, it's a hoot whenever Petey himself is in the office, because he'll jump up and put his front paws on the counter when you walk in, like he's going to be the one to help you with whatever you need. Second, it's really convenient to have pet supplies, grooming, and boarding within walking distance, especially because my dog doesn't like car rides. And third, Beth and Linda are extremely friendly and accommodating, and you can just tell how much they love animals and are committed to the community. We used to take our dog to a larger, well known boarding facility -- and they are great too, don't get me wrong -- but honestly the prices kept creeping up without any upgrade in the perks or facilities. Now with Petey's just around the corner, offering us complete flexibility with pickup/dropoff, and personalized attention for our dog (because they only board 4-6 at a time right now), it's hard to justify going anywhere else. We've left our dog at Petey's several times, and he does well. He also enjoys randomly stopping into the store to say hi. Note: For a 1-2 night stay, our costs at Petey's vs. the larger place are about the same. For longer than that, Petey's saves us a significant amount. I have also started to buy dog food from Petey's, since the prices are the same as what I would pay at the grocery store or pet store chains, but Petey's offers free home delivery within the neighborhood! My only wishes would be for them to sell cheaper dog waste baggies, maybe have a bulk treat bar like Petco's, and for them to be able to stock/order crickets for our gecko. But those are niche needs that certainly don't impact my overall positive impression of Petey's! I am so so happy to have found Petey's! I used their grooming services and they were so lovely. Making the appointment was easy, they were so helpful over the phone. I dropped off my 2yr old 10lb Havanese poodle mix there for the first time for grooming and he came out looking and smelling very fresh. He even had on a little bandana! I am very glad to have discovered Petey's, and so close to home too. The shop was recommended to me by a vet as well as neighbors on NextDoor. I like being in this friendly shop that is nicely decorated with animal art. I was equally happy to discover that Petey's had the very-hard-to-find cat food I was trying to find. The vet discovered that our cat is allergic to chicken which makes it hard to find a wet food without chicken. They had 2 kinds of wet food that do not contain chicken and that my cat adores. The owners and staff are so kind and I know that when my fur babies are with them they are being cared for and loved on during groom time. I don't think you get that from anywhere else! We brought our little guy in for his first grooming a little over a month ago. I was nervous because he's still very much a puppy and very wiggly. I warned them when we made the appointment but they weren't concerned at all and quoted me a price. They did a wonderful job on our pup - he smelled soooo great for about a week after! He was so soft too. They did say he was rambunctious so it took a lot longer than they thought so they didn't stay close to our quote. While we understood, it still would have been nice to be listened to when we warned them about his energy and age so that we could have been more prepared for the price increase. Overall a really good experience - maybe just be prepared for price changes if you have a pup! read more

This place is amazing! I called from out of town with a huge favor to ask. I needed them to deliver a pet crate, a collar, and a leash to one of my boss who was in town for business and was picking up an animal as a present. Thankfully they were willing to make the delivery for me and offered unbelievable prices on their merchandise. Jacky did an awesome job giving our four month old goldendoodle a summer trim. She addressed all of the areas I asked her to and Hera looks even better than I hoped. This was my first time taking a dog to be groomed, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Jacky reviewed a variety of lengths with me before I left and let me stay a few minutes to get my shy puppy acclimated. Jacky's demeanor was extremely gentle, genuine, and friendly. Our dog is head shy and has been wary of strangers since we got her (we've even had to muzzle her at the vet while getting vaccines), but when I picked her up from Petey's she was letting Jacky pet her, put her collar back on, and even jumped up on her while saying goodbye. It is clear that Jacky took the time to make sure Hera was socially comfortable and that she didn't force anything just to get the job done. She also gave me a few suggestions for things to do at home that would make grooming go even smoother for Hera next time. For an appointment I was initially pretty nervous about, I have been totally put at ease. We will visit again. read more
