I've been a grooming customer of Strasse Dog for years. When I adopted him, Pierre was VERY anxious about haircuts from the vet/groomer near my house (and new people in general), and multiple friends recommended SD. I stopped by without my dog just to talk with Shirley about the situation, and she willingly offered to have me bring him in a couple of times just to meet her and become familiar before even scheduling a grooming appointment. We did this twice, and it made ALL the difference. She also recommended a great harness for him when I wanted to switch out of a collar. It's the only place I've taken him since. For the past couple of years, I've been feeding Pierre from PetWants, a mixture of the chicken, lamb, and salmon recipes. He liked it better than the typical store-bought kinds, but I brought home a small amount of each of the 4 main Barketplace recipes tonight after talking with Shirley and Jeff about it, and he not only ate the first serving in a matter of minutes, but wanted more even AFTER his teeth cleaning "dessert" treat. That has NEVER happened. And then the second serving was gone just as quickly as the first. We took our Goldendoodle Harley here for the first time last night and can I just say, wow is it nice to find someone who legitimately and honestly cares for their customers. The shop is cute and the people who work the register are so nice (I believe Shirley's mother was there yesterday). Parking was convenient even on a Friday afternoon in mainstrasse. Prices are excellent and he looked/smelled soft and wonderful. The grooming was even and his skin did not look irritated at all. Best of all, he was in a great mood when we picked him up! I would trust Shirley with my other 4 dogs and all her advice to boot. If you live close, take your dogs here. It's totally worth it! read more

Just discovered this place today. They have an outstanding selection of dog clothes including sports apparel. I wasn't sure of my dog's measurements, but I want to stop back in to get the Reds jersey I saw. Also in the store were stylish dog collars, treats, and novelty items. Had heard great things about Strasse Dog, but when I called, they said they couldn't see her for 2.5 months, as scheduling is needed months in advance. Just had to write something about this amazing place! I took my 4 month Bichon, Li'l Dolly for a bath and puppy clean up. I was greeted by Opal, the owner's Mother. Very sweet lady who obviously loves her job. Shirley, the owner came out to meet her new client and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the breed. The store is darling and you can plainly see by the merchandise that someone is taking in the health of the pet. Lots of natural treats, food and the like. If you go check to make sure your dog's nails are trimmed. I did not have Shirley as the groomer but the man did my dogs. I went 5 times then I went to my Vet for a checkup for my dogs. He said that their nails were growing into their skin. I told Shirley and she felt terrible about this. You have been warned. read more

I just thought I'd update my review on Strasse Dog since I just took my dog in for grooming on Saturday and it just reminds me how much I love this place. We've been taking our dog here for about 2 years now to get groomed about every 6-8 weeks. Every single visit has been wonderful! Gracie loves the treats and attention she gets from Shirley when she comes to visit. How many PetsMart groomers will pick your dog up when you get there, give them a big hug and kiss?? Yup, none of them will treat your dog like you treat your dog. That's why I go to Shirley. She is wonderful with our spoiled pooch and when we go to pick Gracie up, she's happy and looks wonderful. And in the past year, we've actually been buying the food she sells there. She gets it from the girls at Pet Wants in Findley Market, and she sells it for the same price. Our dog loves the Salmon and Rice and it makes her long-haired coat shine! Since we've brought Gracie here, my mother-in-law started bringing her two long-haired dachshunds in for groomings too and she drives all the way in from Finneytown. Shirley will book up pretty far in advance so if you're looking to get Fido a bath and a trim, you're best to expect at least three weeks (if you work a 8-5 schedule like myself). Support local business and check Strasse Dog out! My husband would also like to point out that you can drop the dog off on a Saturday afternoon, and walk next door to Cock and Bull to get some wings and beers, watch the Reds play, and then walk back to get your dog when they are ready. We stumbled upon this cute store while waiting for a reservation down the street for dinner. They had so much incredible information on dog foods and oral health for our pup (get the raw bones, people- they changed our dogs life!). We have had a hard time finding someone to trim our pups nails. She is extremely nervous and freaks out when someone comes near her nails. As a rescue, we can only guess why she's so anxious and try to make it an easy, positive experience. Great grooming at a great price. I take my two dogs (one small, one large) and get out of the door in less than 60 bucks most times. Of course, this will vary depending on what kind of dogs you have and what services you have done. Mine are both short hair. I've paid over 100 dollars to have them both groomed before, so I consider this a great deal. Additionally, Shirley is one of the greatest people ever. Love this place! Took my dog in to get groomed and was amazed about the price and value of the service here. The owner loves what she does and is incredibly knowledgeable about dogs and dog products. I know he is taken care of well here because he can't wait to get groomed and is excited as soon as he sees Shirley (the owner). The store is great too and offers lots of great products for my dog. Because of her and her staff's recommendation, I switched my dog to the natural dog food she sells at her store and he has never felt better! We don't go that often, in fact it had been a year since we had been, yet on the phone they asked how my dog was doing and that they were wondering when he would return. After his grooming session they gave me a full review of how he did (my dog is a terrier so not always the easiest to groom) and compared it vs the last time. They even pointed out a small medical issue that I may want to have the vet check out. Where many groomers may not welcome my dog, Strasse Dog welcomes him again and again with a smile. When I first decided to try professional grooming services for my dog we went to PetSmart - they completely messed up my dogs hair and even cut her belly with the clippers! I was appalled and never wanted to trust another person with my dog again, that is until I decided to give a chance to a small shop. If you're looking for a dog groomer, you have to make an appointment with Shirley at Strasse Dog. When i took my yorkie in for her very first 'beauty parlor' appointment, she was nervous, but Shirley took the time to sit down on the floor and get to know her before she took her in back for her spa day. And Miss Roxy doesn't trust just anyone, but she loved her! When I got her back, her formerly wild, long, ewok-like coat was trimmed beautifully, looked shiny and felt softer than I have ever felt. Also, whenever I walk in to pick up some food or other pet necessity like a bikini-clad rubber chicken , they call me by name and greet Roxy with a treat, or ask how she is doing if she's not with me. This is what great customer service and all small, local businesses should be like. Oh, and the price is excellent. My mother now drives here from Eastgate with her 2 collies to have Shirley groom them at half the price of her former groomer, but with even better results. One word to the wise...they can book up pretty far in advance, so plan ahead. read more

Took our long haired cat, Charlie, there this summer for his first ever hair cut. He is terrified of everyone who even comes to the house, so was nervous as to how he would take it. Shirley did a fantastic job with him, she cut the hair on his body short but not shaved, and left his neck, legs and the tip of his tail longer. He looked like a little lion. I love Strasse Dog! I have two poodle mixes and I recently started taking them to Strasse Dog to be groomed. They do an amazing job grooming both of them (which is NOT easy considering they both have the doodle hair that is very difficult to deal with). Also, I can tell that they are very sweet and compassionate with my dogs while they are there, which is very important to me. Lastly, the prices at Strasse Dog are so good it is almost unbelievable. We took our pup, August, down there for a full grooming session and we will now only go there! They are so sweet and kind and you can tell they truly care. They took the time to ask us questions and give us answers to her itchy skin. They talked to us about dog food and even gave us a free sample! (Also their food is buy 12 within 2 year period and the 13th bag is free!) They did an amazing job as her coat looks great and her nails are perfectly trimmed. I highly recommend to everyone! Shirley is very kind and gentle with dogs (and owners!) i like the smaller venue, I feel Shirley and her assistant keep a closer eye on the dogs they groom in comparison to a large facility. Shirley always warns me when there is a festival on Mainstrasse so I can plan. My dogs are at ease in her shop and I haven't had any refusals at the door.The price is lower than I paid at other area groomers. I like it that I always know Shirley will be there with the dogs, not someone I don't know or haven't met. Recommend highly. read more
