There was plenty of food for two people. They did bring an extra plate for no charge, always nice to see. If paying with cash, you get 4% off the tab. The meal was less than $19 with the discount. We love going to eat mid morning and listening to the groups of gentlemen having their weekly get togethers for breakfast. Let me start with the pros. The service was incredibly friendly. The food was delivered to our table still hot, which is a huge plus for me. The bacon on the loaded fries was absolutely delicious. The flavor of my prime rib dip sandwich itself was pretty good. Now for the cons. We ordered the loaded fries appetizer for $8 and were both surprised by how small the portion was. I knew the moment I saw the cup of au jus for my prime rib dip that it wasn't going to have much flavor, and I was right. It was more like basic beef broth straight from a can. Au jus is what makes a French dip so good but this just didn't cut it. My husband ordered a patty melt and after just a few bites, he had a strange look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said the taste and texture of the meat was unusual to him. I looked at it and took it bite myself and agreed. The only way to describe it is like the patty was made up of ground Slim Jim beef sticks or something like it. My husband didn't particularly care for it and he also felt like everything was over seasoned. When he questioned our server about what kind of meat was used in his sandwich, she couldn't explain what the difference was between his sandwich and what they use in their burgers, just that it was a different patty of some sort. Another con is that all of their salad dressings at their salad bar or in squeeze bottles. My dressing of choice is blue cheese, which doesn't squeeze well from a bottle when the chunks of cheese gets stuck in the nozzle. Not a big deal, but frustrating when you're trying to squeeze it onto your salad praying that it doesn't suddenly explode all over the place. Two sandwiches, one with a side salad substitution for fries, and a small plate of loaded fries and waters to drink was a $50 dinner. As I said at the beginning It wasn't a bad experience, it just wasn't great. For a $50 dinner it was just okay. They extensively remodeled the former Biscuit & Hogs, which was only open for a short time. The décor and layout, in my opinion, are the best of the three locations in Idaho. There are separate rooms, one for private parties of up to 16. They have a large outside dining area that is covered. Lots of windows everywhere in the inside dining area, a nice combination of booths and several tabletops that can be put together. The color palette reminds me of the original First Watch in California and many of those in Florida, with light blues, grays and greens with white, like a setting next to the beach. The only odd part is the conversion of the previous bar area. Unlike many other First Watch locations in other states, they do not have a license for cocktails and currently it is used only for Mimosas and champagne. If you haven't been to this breakfast/brunch/lunch before, the menu can be intimidating. I'd recommend looking at it online. There are traditional items such as omelets, salads and sandwiches but even these often have some more complex or unexpected pairings. In many ways the plates as thought from the culinary team have gone upscale in colors and textures and flavors. I didn't expect a side of arugula with an egg dish, but with lemon aioli it was refreshing and cut the heaviness of the maple bacon. Sausage tends towards the healthy, evident in the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy. A vegetable frittata with kale, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and mozzarella and parmesan cheese is served with greens and ciabatta toast. Fall menu specials include an egg, maple bacon croissant, pumpkin pancakes and our group had three orders of pumpkin sugar spice donut holes with cinnamon paired with a caramel and a crème anglaise dipping sauce for $6.99. Served hot, they were delicious but only had a hint of fall spices. I also ordered the Godfather Bowl for $15.29, which was filling and only 740 calories; not a huge portion of a grilled Italian sausage. Served with two eggs in any style with a warm polenta disc and arugula. The side of chopped Calabrian chilis added a nice zing to the sausage. A local favorite is their delicious lemon ricotta pancakes. Rather than ordering the million-dollar bacon (4 slices) again, I love the side of million-dollar potatoes which have large chunks of million-dollar bacon herbs, and a Parmesan cream sauce. Priced a little higher than the standard breakfast place, I really like the custom touches. I've only been here for early lunch or weekdays, so haven't experienced the slow service some reviews mention, but I did note that it was harder to get a server's attention when dining outside. They handled our group of fifteen well, divided among two servers and no automatic tip included. This chain has been growing fast, 676 locations in 33 states, 466 cities.
