My wife loves good prime rib, so if we find a place to give it a try, she'll ensure we end there one way or another. Bob's is a cozy spot down in Nyssa that is split into two parts - local watering hole (bar) and the dining room. We didn't venture into the bar area, but the dining area was clean and tidy. I'm personally not a big steak guy since I just prefer to grill my own, but prime rib isn't exactly a quick fix for an evening, so here we are. Service was nice and we still can't believe how fast everything came out of the kitchen, even with the minor course corrections noted below - 1. She ordered the full version of the prime rib, vs the available smaller cut, which came out of the kitchen first. Service acknowledged this before she even got to the table and got it corrected. 2. The baked potato that came with it was a bit old/brown on the inside. No questions on our request to have it exchanged, and she had a new one out to us in less than 2 minutes. Her prime rib meal was damn near perfect, other than the two corrections above. It was a very nice slice of meat, not overly or under seasoned, had a wonderful au ju to go with it, etc. If every prime rib meal here is this quality, then this is a winner in our books. The included salad bar was pretty limited, and you could tell the veggies were not fresh for the day (when they start to look a little dehydrated, for example,) but still palatable, and we enjoyed it. Now, here's my beef (I guess pun intended,) with my order. I chose the Honey Burbon Ribeye, which was nearly as expensive as my wife's prime rib order, but a dramatically different experience. First, the menu noted this was a marinated cut of meat, which it very well may have been, but it's also drenched in what tasted like off the shelf bottled glaze. Next, it was a miserly thin slice of meat that would lend itself better to some manner of sandwich than it would as a plated steak dinner. And last, a third of it was comprised of gristle (of which I inadvertently ate a bit as the meat was so thin, I had to give it the benefit of the doubt.) This was not a $8 slice of meat, let alone the $20+ asking price. I don't return meals, but this one I was seriously on the fence about, however, again...that prime rib plate was so good that I just shrugged this off as a bad example of the offerings here at Bob's. It didn't taste bad or anything, but for the money, it was absolutely not worth the asking price. So, overall a good experience, but it was 50/50 on the available steak dinner offerings for us. We'd go again just for the prime rib, but I'd probably lean for one of their burgers or specialty sandwiches next time and not risk anything on the rib eyes. read more

The food is good, the portions are large, and the price is small! Whats not to like!?! I'm glad I found this hole in the wall Steak House. I recommend going on a Friday, or Saturday night, for the Prime Rib. They do everything right food-wise. The inside could use an update, and some TLC, but as long as they do the food right I don't care what the place looks like! Just feed me! We came to Bob's at the end of a trip skiing in Colorado. The Filet Mignon was the best steak we had on our entire trip! Our waitress was adorable and her service was impeccable. They had a Fresh salad bar with really good blue cheese dressing. We were too full to try the pie but the case had several yummy looking selections. We'll be back whenever we head in or out of Oregon! read more

Nysa is in the Oregon-Idaho region near the Snake River that grows enormous quantities of onions, potatoes & sugar beets. So I expected the onion ring on my sandwich to good; it was. My order of the Philly cheesesteak special came as ground beef, onion, pickles, cheese (very thin) & peppers in a hamburger bun that had a rash of sesame seeds on top. This place is good, if you don't ask for too much. I'm not expecting anything other than an eastern Oregon experience when I go, so I'm never disappointed. The steak is good, their pasta is decent but filling. Everything here comes in large portions, and the drinks are poured strong. The bar isn't anything special, but these days, it doesn't need to be. It's a fun place to gather and remain socially distant, but still drink with a friend or two and pretend it's 2019. And oh god, the oyster shooters. I always get one, then one more, then two more. By the end of the night, I've had at least six. They're delicious. read more

We had heard good things about this establishment , we were disappointed. The prime rib was severely under seasoned and very bland. The place was not busy so our wait person was overly attentive. To top it off the beer was not cold at all. The food was not bad, just not memorable. We probably won't be back. read more

WORST. SERVICE. EVER! I will NEVER go back! We got there at 5:30, service was slow so waited about 10 minutes to order. Not a huge deal. I ordered a french dip, my daughter a BLT and my husband fish and chips. 20 minutes later my husbands and daughters food comes out but the waitress has a blank look on her face about my empty spot. She goes back to the window, then comes back to me and asks me "what did you order?" So I tell her and off she goes again. Keep in mind my husband and daughter are eating at this point. About 15 minutes later she stops back by to say "yours is coming" and then heads out again. Another 10 minutes go by, my family is done eating, I am still sitting with nothing in front of me. Other food has come out, just not mine (keep in mind it is a SANDWICH that I ordered). Then finally I see it in the window, but no waitress anywhere, so I go and get it myself! Yes I served myself. By this time I was boiling mad, when the waitress finally came back over she didn't even notice I had gotten my food myself. I asked for my meal to be taken off the bill and she agreed. When we finally got the check there was a drink of it that we did not order and had to be taken off. We were in that restaurant for an hour and 45 minutes! I assume this was this waitresses first day EVER waitressing in her entire life. But shame on management for leaving her on her own! read more

I never have gone to a restaurant that would refuse to cook a steak to order. Well if that is what you are looking for, go to Bob's in Nyssa Oregon. About a year ago I went to Bob's because I was looking for a good ribeye steak. When I placed my order for the steak to be cooked medium-well, the server told me the cook will only cook them medium. I found this very strange but ordered it anyway. The center was rare and cold. I then decided to cross Bob's off the list. This past weekend I was looking to have a good steak so I decided to call Bob's and asked if their policy had changed. The person I talked to said that their steaks are cooked to the customer's request. So I went to Bob's and ordered their 20oz ribeye cooked medium-well and the server told me the cook will only cook them medium. When I stated that I was told differently on the phone she said that cooking the steaks more than medium takes too long. Hmmmm.. There were four other people in the restaurant so it couldn't be they were too busy. But, that's not the issue. The establishment was willing to let a customer leave instead of serving the meal as requested. And if a customer is willing to wait the extra five minutes to have the meal cooked as desired, so what? I used to be able to get a 20oz ribeye cooked to order a few years ago but why Bob's changed their policy is beyond me. Stay away from this establishment. My first visit here. My dad brought us after he had an omelette here, and our friends come nearly weekend for the biscuits and gravy. I was tasting a little bit off my family's plates, and everything was great. The Salisbury steak, fish and chips, chicken strips, apple juice, orange juice, French fries, Tuscan Meatball soup... No complaints. Even the mashed potatoes, which were instant, were tasty and thick. The glasses have hard water stains and streaks, but in this part of the country, it's unavoidable. We went to Bob's for breakfast and the utensils were dirty and my mother found a hair in her meal. We informed the waitress and were not even offered an apology. When my mother questioned the waitress about being charged for the meal anyway she was told they would remove the price but the waitress said "I didn't know you were going to be so....." Extremely rude and totally unprofessional . Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more
