First and foremost, Kaitlyn M is a rockstar. Her classes are thoughtful, creative, and the perfect balance of challenging yet approachable--you feel the work, but never in a discouraging way. She has amazing energy, gives spot-on cues, and her corrections are always gentle yet effective. I love how she explains what we're working on, what it targets, and how it should feel, while always offering both more advanced and less intense options. Her class flow, the challenge, the stretching--it's all delicious! Her professionalism and ease make it feel like she's been teaching forever, yet she hasn't lost her spark or edge. I'm beyond grateful for her classes and (selfishly) wish she taught even more! Honestly, I hesitate to write this because I don't want to end up stuck on the waitlist, but credit is due where it's deserved--Kaitlyn is amazing! I also have to shout out some of the other fantastic instructors at Vitality: Liz's jumpboard classes are an absolute blast--her spunky energy is contagious, and I look forward to my Thursday nights with Liz and our little jumpboard crew every single week! Mari's classes are top-notch; they're usually waitlisted, and there's a reason why--she's fantastic. Sharareh is a newer teacher, and I love how much care, affinity, and belief in the power of Pilates she brings to every class. She is tender in the best way. Michele also started more recently, but you'd never know it. She taught the first class I ever took at Vitality, and I had no idea she was new--her instruction was clear, and she spoke to the fundamentals of Pilates beautifully. Teaching a beginner class can be tricky, and she handled it seamlessly! Natalie--creative, challenging, and guaranteed to kick your butt! MK is always a joy--consistent and lighthearted, and I leave every class with a smile. Andy... OMG. So hard. So many planks. But a great class nonetheless! Overall, I'm incredibly grateful for Vitality. Their pricing is reasonable, allowing me to do the unlimited package, which has improved both my physical and mental health tenfold. You're laying on the ground and can see the dust and if you have allergies they'll immediately be triggered. The 'instructor' was horrible and the website falsely advertises hot rooms- it was purposefully left cold to accommodate the teacher. I've taken yin in multiple cities and this was not even close. This was yin for preschool kids. Yin here was a frog pose, child's pose, and a bridge. Additionally the sound bath is anything but... It's like they bought some bowls on Amazon and watched a YouTube. It was so bad and ear piercing that you leave you with ringing ears. Oh and to top it off the women here with the fake namaste attitudes are horribly rude. Suffice to say- don't waste your time or go here searching for a proper yoga studio or you too will experience the Walmart of yoga being culturally appropriated by a basic MAHA group.

I took a solidcore class for the first time yesterday! It is located on the ground floor of Ballard…read moreYards, which is a short walk from my home. It's very conveniently located. Staff there were friendly and welcomed me for my first visit. I took the Signature 50: Full Body with Janelle. Janelle walked me through how the workout will go and how to use the machine. She explained everything clearly and I appreciated how encouraging she was throughout the workout. She made rounds during the class and came over several times to help me with my form, which was very helpful. She also helped me adjust the springs when switching over to a different movement every time, so that I can follow the workout with minimal pause. As someone who occasionally leads group runs at Brooks Trailhead, her dedication was inspiring and made me think about how I could improve my attitude when attending to my run group. I've heard that solidcore workouts are tough. That morning, I kind of rolled out of bed and headed right over, so my body was just waking up when I started the class. It was a shock to my system when the class commenced with an intense plank session. I sometimes do track workouts where I push myself pretty far, but I've never pushed myself this hard through a strength workout. I wasn't sure when this part would end, so it got me off guard and in my head I was thinking how I hated this. But this made me realize how I should probably push myself harder during my regular strength routine because I found out I could do more with my body in class. I was drenched in sweat in the first five minutes of class. The area where you put your arms on the machine became slippery pretty fast, so I think it would be a good idea to put a towel there to prevent slipping. Also, because of all the sweating, I took several pauses from workout to hydrate. I wish there are defined water breaks during class because it was hard to find a time to take a pause. Maybe solidcore prioritizes that we keep going and not stop during the workout, though. During the class, we were in the side plank oblique position for a while. That pose didn't come naturally for me but it was interesting to try different forms that I wouldn't do otherwise. I don't remember working on my back muscles all that much in class, but my LAT area became really sore post workout. It probably means I have weak back muscles. The shoulder raises at the end of the class was also short but tough on me. In such ways, the class made me realize where my weaknesses are and made me want to get stronger. In many ways I mentioned above, I experienced a lot of discoveries about myself in class. It's definitely worth the price. I'm thinking about returning for another class or two so that I can solidify in my memory what to work on for my body.

It's not the nicest gym especially since there's no windows and some of the equipment is older, but it has everything you need and the folks who work there are super nice! There's a good amount of equipment too, so I've never had to wait for a machine.
