Came here for a zumba party. They have lockers you can use for free and towels. The instructor was very nice and I am surprised my friend was able to request doing a zumba party. Small but nice facilities with a small parking lot outside. Locker room looked outdated but clean. There's maxi pads, tampons, hair dryers, cotton balls and more free to use which is nice. read more

I'm not a member but I took a Body Pump class here and had a great experience! The instructors were extremely friendly and welcoming. The gym itself was great--lots of equipment, well maintained, great variety, good customer service, big locker rooms. There is ample parking and even an area for kids to play while parents work out. I wish they were on ClassPass but it seems pretty elite so I can see why a place like this wouldn't be on it. read more

Seattle Athletic Club at Northgate is a well-established club that has a full gym, plenty of weights and cardio, and classes. We joined under a family membership, which was a little pricey but I really liked the fact that the place never felt like a zoo, like some of the larger gyms in town. While the building is a bit older, the equipment was up to date and well-maintained. There are plenty of staff around to help. Overall, a good option for those who want a smaller gym in North Seattle, although a little pricier. read more

At 52 I got a gym membership for the first time. 6 months later and I'm going 5 days a week. SAC hands down is the best gym in downtown Seattle. As a proud member of Gen X if you want to get into shape this is the gym for you. My trainer [free weights], Lisa Chaki, is the amazing. Patient and explains everything perfectly (Even when you are as annoying as I am). This club has some of the worst members who act like they own the gym. If it's not someone yelling the laughter in the pool is too loud to a member approaching kids ALL THE TIME. My daughter was told she was showering too long. She was 9. My 12 year old son was playing basketball with his dad and a member said he's too young to be in here, he could get hurt. I could go on. It's ridiculous how nice this could club could be, but they are afraid of these old jerky angry members. We just quit our membership and joined 24 hour fitness the same day. They welcomed us with open arms and smiles. Something nobody does there. read more

If you're someone who wants to take their strength and fitness seriously, then Seattle Athletic Club is for you. They have a great weight room with all the equipment you need to train. While they only have one of each machine (aside from their cable machines and squat racks), there is rarely any wait time to use any given one. In the off chance that one of the machines is busy, members are usually courteous enough to let you work in or tell you how many sets you have left. The cardio room isn't anything too special, but they have maybe 10 or so treadmills, and a few other nice cardio machines. Just like the weight room, there's practically 0 wait time in the cardio room. Locker rooms are pretty big. Again, nothing too special but they keep it clean and tidy. Locker room bathrooms include showers, a sauna, and a jacuzzi. They have a pool as well, but I've never used it before. Have heard good things though. Additionally they have 3-4 squash courts in the gym. They provide rackets and balls. I'll finish this off by saying that if you're the average person trying to get in decent shape or lose some pounds, you'd be better off going to a basic commercial gym or exercising at home. You'll save a lot of money in the process as well. But if you want GAINZ, it's SAC all the way. Just know you're paying a lot more for this premium experience. 4.5/5 stars read more

I don't work out at the Seattle Athletic Club, but we do come here regularly for swim lessons. My love of SAC Northgate has to do with their kid's aquatics program They have an excellent, small kid's aquatic program that we have found to be cost effective, friendly and convenient. This is a great spot for lessons in an indoor pool, similarly priced to community pools and the Y, but also very convenient, right by Norhgate mall, and Target, with ample parking and with quality instruction. A bonus? Free towels, shampoo, soap, and a hot jacuzzi and sauna available to all (even non-members) taking swimming instruction here. Yes, this is a club that was designed in the late 80s, and it does have that feel to it. Some minor cosmetic updates are planned over Labor Day weekend, but I doubt they'll transform the club. But keep in mind this place is so darned convenient and so much better comparable community centers, at similar prices. read more

I've been a member of the Seattle Athletic Club for almost 2 years and it was a huge step up from where I had been going. I've lived in the Northgate neighborhood since moving to Seattle over 6 years ago and had been going to another more commercial gym for a few years but made the change to Seattle Athletic club and don't regret it one bit. The facilities are clean, the staff is so friendly and accomodating, it is never overwhelmingly busy, and the class instructors are so nice and helpful if you are ever wanting to try something new. I really like the community feel too when they have parties for members seasonally where you get to see the staff and members all relaxed and letting loose. The only downside that I can possibly think of is that it is a little more expensive than national commercial gyms but it is well worth it. read more

I can't tell enough how frustrating it has been to deal SAC. We were referred to this club by a friend of ours and we like to join and go to places that our friends recommend to us. For the past three weeks, we have been waiting to just get a tour to visit the facility, since this is their system, before joining. We have gone to the club in person as well, when we were told that we can't see the club without seeing it. The person who is in the charge on the tours, was leaving in 15 minutes and I guess that was not enough time to give a tour. Then we were given a phone number to call and make an appointment. We called and called and called, no answer. Then we were given an email address and we emailed back and forth. It seems, Mr. A.J, works only from 10-6 Monday through Friday. We work during these days and hours. After three weeks of waiting, no one cared to call us and help us to set up this tour. This reflects the poor management. Seattle has lots of wonderful gyms and clubs and we have ample choices of joining one. I guess SAC has enough members and they don't care to add any more members. As a business owner, if any of my employees dropped the ball like this, so many times, I would have been totally horrified. read more

At this point, I can only write a review about my initial experience as I am still in the evaluation stage of joining. Initial Contact: I signed up for a "3 Day Trial Pass" on Seattle Athletic Club Northgate's website at 8:30 pm. The next morning, I received an email from AJ the membership department. He was able to answer a lot of my questions regarding membership options, locations, and pricing even before my husband and I had stepped foot into the club. I was sold and we set up a time to meet the next day at 11 am. First impressions: Going into the club was great! There was tons of parking everywhere. It being tucked away in the business center helps with the amount of traffic there is (parking and in the club). They provide locker keys and towel service with water fountains everywhere. Amenities: There are ample amenities everywhere. There is a yoga/barre room that one can take classes or use when empty. The cycling studio is great and can be used via group or even alone with a program to help guide you. There are even squash and basketball courts. Lots of weights and cardio options available. Don't even get me started on the pool, sauna, and jacuzzi (accessible only in the men and women's locker room, so they are separate). We have 2 more passes to use so I am looking forward to going back at other times just to get a feel for how busy it is as well as trying out some of their group fitness classes. Overall, a positive experience so far and I look forward to joining so long as this experience continues. read more

This is a review long time coming but this is truly a club that cares about the health and wellbeing of their members above all. I lived in Seattle a few years back and long story short moved on short notice for work. I had forgotten about my membership and don't need to discuss my inability to budget but $1,000+ later I had realized I never cancelled my membership; everyone's worst nightmare. I have never been treated so fairly in a situation in which they had all the leverage; all outstanding debt was immediately waived. I can't tell you how many gyms I've moved on from but none of them have ended pretty; between needing to show up in person, paying for the rest of the month, etc. This experience was unlike any other and truly showed their desire to be nothing more than a place for members to focus on their health. I have to add that being from Chicago, I've never had an easier time finding pickup basketball games than at the SAC. Whether it was before work, during my lunch hour, or happy hour runs; the competition never disappointed. This was 3 years ago but I only hope that this remains to be true. read more

Melissa is a kick ass trainer. She made sure to understand my goals and designed my workout program accordingly. Over the last few months, as I started to see results, she has continued to updated my workout program so I have continued to build more strength and skills. During the pandemic, she has helped a lot virtually. The best part is that she is very friendly and very professional at the same time - which is great when she is the first person I see in the morning. Great place to workout and feel safe doing it! The staff is great, a lot of them have been here a long time and are more like a family than co-workers. They are always friendly and helpful. They have pushed to keep our gym open as much as possible during Covid and even though I can't bring my kids with me right now b/c the Kids Court is closed, when it is open my kids have a fantastic time - Kerry is amazing! The trainers and group classes are awesome, we got live streaming while the gym was closed which i appreciated. Other members here are respectful and into staying in shape, not out to get a date!!! Normally the place isn't too crowded and right now you have to "reserve a time" but its a simple app to use to do it and they are making it work! Anytime I've had an issue, Roni (Operations Manager) has been quick to help! Overall - I definitely recommend joining here if you want a more private/personal feeling place to workout and not deal with the gym rat feeling you get at the "BIG BOX" gyms! read more

I joined this club in 2001 and will keep coming back. Great facility, friendly members, and amazing staff. This gym has everything you need in a clean and comfortable atmosphere. If you are looking for a quality gym for a great price in North Seattle, you can't go wrong with this place. They have all the cardio machines and weights. Squash and Swimming and Basketball. Need child care while you exercise, they have that too. Group classes and personal trainers? Check! They really have everything you could possibly need. This place is a jewel. In every sense of the word. Nice and tucked away in Northgate with tons of free parking. The amenities are all superb with the best being the salt water swimming pool which is SO much better for your hair and skin than a conventional chlorine pool. The staff members are all so friendly and welcoming, just as all the club members as well. My favorite part about the gym was the loose, chill vibe to it. A lot of gyms I've been to in the past were filled with people that would crowd the weight room and breath over your neck asking when you were done with a specific machine. This gym is the complete opposite with a very healthy dynamic to it. The Yoga and Zumba classes are great to sign up for as well, to go along with top of the line squash and basketball courts. It's about $90 a month but worth every single penny and COMPLETELY worth paying more for here than LA fitness or 24 hour fitness read more

This gym is a 1980s glory hole. It's like a sweaty Ray Liotta is gonna emerge out of the squash court any minute in high, white socks and nylon shorties. Mostly clean, low level of crowds (except during rush hour) weight lifting equipment is standard probably needs an upgrade though. Group fitness is conveniently scheduled.... but the muscle work class needs to slow tempo because not even the instructors are doing those squats properly at that fast pace. Pool, sauna, hot tub, squash courts. Nice front desk staff I think? Showers need cleaning more often, there's always a funny butt smell and some ladies like to leave their black hairs behind. Unfortunately, I have to see clusters of wet hairs plastered on the tiles next to my feet while I shower. Docking stars for being over priced for what is offered. This isn't a real, luxury gym and yet monthly fees exceed David Barton gyms or shiny luxury clubs I saw overseas. read more

After being a member for 3 years, I recently left this club to join another. The main beef is that dues are really high for what you get. 1) The club is run down and in desperate need of a face lift. 2) The equipment needs to be updated an repaired. 3) Locker rooms, especially the shower area needs to be cleaned and sanitized to eliminate the black mold that is growing. 4) I had the towel service, which actually should be called cloth service. The towels are so worn out that there isn't much fluff left on the towels. 5) The pool is always way to warm, but if you saw the crowd that uses the pool at 10:00 AM you would understand. It's Sr. Citizen water aerobics. 6) They can't keep good people. They must not pay well or treat the staff well, because the good ones are there for only a short time. 7) The trainers are not outgoing. If you aren't using them, they don't even say hello. If they want to get more clients, they need to be more outgoing. 8) The food sucks! The only good thing is that I can take my daughter on the weekends for swimming. But other than this I would look elsewhere for a place to work out. read more

I was nervous at first to start going to the gym again since COVID hit, but I felt very safe with the social distancing rules they have in place along with the equipment being sanitized regularly! The staff is very friendly from the minute you walk in to the minute you leave! Very disappointed in this gym's treatment of potential new members and general conduct. Coming from DC, I expect a premium price to come with outstanding service and I did not get anywhere near that from the Seattle Athletic Club. I recently moved to Seattle and am shopping for a new gym. While it isn't unheard of for gyms to require a tour to get pricing information, it is absurd to set up an appointment for a required tour only to show up and be informed that the customer service representative with whom I set up the appointment had left sick and the front desk is not even allowed to give out pricing information. So, just to be clear- I spent two days emailing with a customer service representative to set up a mandated tour, only to rearrange my work schedule and to drive 30 minutes in traffic to be told basically-- nothing. If it weren't for the customer service representative's curt attitude when even setting up the appointment, I might have been more willing to shrug it off as a one-off, but all things considered, I think I'd rather spend a fraction of the price and go to any of Seattle's other gyms who without hassle, give out 3 to 7 day trial passes, are transparent with their membership pricing, and who have already treated me miles better than Seattle Athletic Club. read more

Best swim lessons ever! My kiddo learned more in six weeks of swim lessons than in five years. Trevor masterfully broke the strokes down into easy steps that enabled my kid to feel the correct way to do a stroke, get excited and then motivated to learn more. I've been a member here for four years, and today I cancelled my membership - yea!!!! And the person I spoke to regarding cancelling it just said "okay" - he didn't even ask me why, or if they could better serve me! I agree that the club is a little run-down. It's clean enough, but something is always breaking - the hot tub, the sauna, whatever. Also, I used to swim there but now they are focusing almost exclusively on families, SO THERE'S ALMOST NO TIME FOR ADULT LAP SWIMMING! And the walls are ALL painted hospital beige/white, so it's very depressing. The staff is very nice, but the club is really geared towards women with kids who don't work. They have very few classes at night, and when the pool is filled w/kids, they don't enforce the "no kids in the whirpool" rule, so it's a pain to swim there. read more

I had a 3 day pass. I used it for the first 2 days and then took a couple of weeks to decide whether to join. Then out off the blue I get an email from them saying that it had been brought to their attention that I had continued to use the facility long past the three day pass. I hadn't been within 5 miles. They said I need to stay away or join or they would press a trespassing charge!! Seriously! Definitely not joining!!Very bad management. read more
