I started taking the yoga nidra classes with Susanne here and they're the highlight of my week! She's very knowledgeable about the patanjali 8 limbs of yoga and I have a lot of fun learning about this philosophy from her. It's hard to find a one hour yoga nidra session on gym passes which is what I use, so I'm very grateful that this studio has included it. The only slightly annoying thing is that they don't include mats in their classes so you either bring your own or pay $2 for mat rental. I went to this studio so many years ago when it was in another site. I liked it then. I now have a 'home' studio but had a chance to come here today. It is beautiful, clean. There is parking. They have interesting workshops and a wide variety of classes and levels. I was very happy to take class from Jessica- she knows bodies, movement and yoga. Her depth of experience shows in her wisdom talking about how we work with our own bodies. Her instructions and cues are clear. I used to do a lot of Yoga and this is where I would go. For a few years I went to the Saturday morning community classes religiously (it helped that they community class was only 8 bucks!) and met up with friends afterwards for breakfast. Sure brings back a lot of good memories. The teaches I've taken classes with have always seemed very nice, really attentive and have a pretty deep knowledge of yoga. The teachers here seem to integrate teachings from broader aspects of Yoga in addition to physicaly-oriented asana. Because of an injury/cancer I've had to limit my asana but what's cool about the Yoga Tree is that I've been able to go their for meditation classes as well, including Yoga Nidra classes. I think this is one of the reasons why it's considered one of the best Yoga Studios in Seattle. They've since moved a few blocks north of downtown Fremont and I have to say I really like the new location. The new space seems bigger and more open, very clean, and they have massage and reflexology there now as well. Parking can sometimes be a bit of a pain as it's in a busy area of Fremont. Also, some of the meditation classes I've been to have been really crowded. Overall I'd definitely recommend the Yoga Tree. Also, be sure to check out the Cuban Sandwich place (Paseo?) across the street, a great way to follow-up a yoga class. ;-) read more

I have to say I am not too impressed with this studio. It's a beautiful, clean space, and most classes are well attended. I often found the classes too slow-paced and easy. If you are looking for gentle yoga, this is a good place. Otherwise, you'll get bored! Not all the teachers are helpful. I think other yoga studios in Seattle are a million times better! read more

I am a big fan of the Yoga Tree. I have only been a few times so far, but it is really a great studio. Clean and quiet. The only downside is that the street parking can be a bit limited however I've always found parking within 3 blocks. I've had three different instructors, all of which were great and provided variations for different levels of difficulty for poses. They provide demonstration, good description, and come around and help correct form as needed. There are a couple of reviews that indicate that the beginning classes aren't difficult enough - I think that if you are taking beginning yoga you have to expect a slower pace and different level of difficulty - especially with different types of yoga which might be more meditative than athletic. All in all, this is a great place for any level. They provide a variety of different types of workshops, and a variety of classes at all times of day. read more

This is the first studio I've tried since moving here and getting vaccinated and I know I'll be coming back for a long time! The owner and instructor Suzanne is a great teacher and has a wonderful presence. The space is open, clean, and well ventilated. The in person classes are not crowded and spaced out, and the studio still offers online classes. Class prices are very reasonable. Parking can be a little tricky but you can find free street parking around. So happy to practice here! read more

The Yoga Tree has grown on me. I came from hot yoga and initially missed the heat, but have adjusted. Also, they tend to use lots of props here and that was new to me and caused me some internal discomfort initially. However, after attending regularly and trying various teachers and classes, I've found my yoga practice is growing. Instructors help with using the props correctly. Classes vary between gentle and demanding, every teacher is excellent, and each offers strong mindfulness/meditative direction throughout which is what I, personally, was looking for. An added bonus is the Yoga Nidra class: it introduced me to deeper levels of relaxation and awareness than I'd experienced before. I'm a fan of every instructor here, and find their classes offer both physical and spiritual depth. read more

Not only am I a student at the Yoga Tree, but I also took my 200hr teacher training here (YogaWorks curriculum certified by the Yoga Alliance). Four teachers not to miss are Ellen, Irene, Jennie and newcomer Claudette. Ellen's energy makes even the deepest and most challenging poses seems accessible. Irene's classes always have a graceful theme, and truly teach your to breathe. Jennie helps me to remember that one must bring a sense of humor to the mat. And Claudette just radiates compassion. All will act as the most capable of guides, whether you are a new or seasoned yogi. I definitely took my practice to a new level, all thanks to the Yoga Tree. read more

The Yoga Tree is, overall, a great place to go for yoga. The ambiance is fantastic with clean, hardwood floors, dim lighting, and minimal distractions in the studio; the instructors appear to be knowledgeable; and they offer a variety of classes at different levels. However, my girlfriends and I did the Hatha 1-2 and I left feeling like it was lacking. I know it's a beginner class, but the moves were way too easy and we rested way too often in downward dog or child pose. Though not physically challenging, it would have been helpful if the instructor explained the positions and breathing (which would have been helpful considering it was a beginner class) more. Next time I'll go to Vinyasa. Also, bring you own yoga mat. They apparently charge you a buck a time to rent. read more

I moved to Fremont in January, and have been coming religiously to The Yoga Tree ever since. I've been practicing yoga for 13 years, and the classes I've taken here are among the best. Every teacher is different, which makes for some really wonderful learning and growing experiences; whether you are new or an experienced practitioner, I've found each instructor to give plenty of space and guidance for flexible adaptation. Also, I can't recommend enough Jennifer's iRest Yoga Nidra meditation classes offered Tuesday mornings and Wednesday nights. To say this practice has been life-changing for me would be an understatement. If you're looking for some really profound de-stressing to combat anxiety/depression, increasing mindfulness, or are just curious about a highly relaxing and accessible opportunity to meditate, please give this a try. Lastly, the intro deal is killer; it's currently $30 for 30 days--one class per day max. Lovely studio, and a welcoming, accommodating and communal space for every yogi. If you are an advanced practitioner, this is 100% NOT the studio for you. Very beginner, very slow studio. Since the studio was a basic beginner studio, I tried taking my practice deeper and then the teacher preceded to call me out and stop my practice and told me to do what she was instructing. According to my "friend", this is one of the best Yoga studios in all of Seattle. They used to be situated in the heart Fremont but have moved 6 blocks North. The instructors are attentive to their students and alter the pace as needed unlike many multi-purpose gyms. And the cost seems to be on par with other reputable places, so says my "friend". I've practiced yoga since 1992...but my practice slowed to sporadic home sessions for a while because I couldn't find a studio that provided the type of instruction that I was looking for. Then I found Yoga Tree, and in the last 18 months or so my yoga practice, my physical health, and my emotional and spiritual well-being have been growing blissfully. There are several great teachers here, enough that you can probably find one or more who will provide what you're looking for: enthusiasm, fun, focus, discipline, sweaty workouts, peaceful stretching, specialty classes and teacher training. I recommend trying many; you'll learn about what's available and find your home. That said, I'm biased: I can't recommend Jennifer enough for folks who are new to yoga as well as old-timers who are cultivating the ability to be gentle and attentive to their bodies. Jennifer provides a gracious and healing space. I've never encountered a teacher before who provides so much space for me to be attentive as I practice -- I'm learning, growing, and stretching myself, while also being provided opportunities to stay with the class but "do less" when that's what's appropriate for me. This is the kind of yoga that I can do with energy and a fitness-focus now, and I can see that I'll still be able to practice decades from now when I'm older and creakier. Yoga Tree has some really quality instructors that bring an incredible mindfulness to the practice. They are heavy on the props, yet some of the classes and instructors can cause you to move and go deeper to places you've never been. I have practice yoga at a lot of studios and have found Yoga Tree to be a great place to "grow-up" in your yoga practice. Cicely's Hatha and Slow Vinyasa classes keep me coming back to the Yoga Tree time and time again. It's such a nice balance of slow and mindful and rejuvenating, while also getting some real strength-building work in! I hate to be a dissenter, but this place really is not good. I tried 5 different instructors and was completely unimpressed with all but one. The Yin instructor Debbie is completely unorganized - always saying one body part or one side of the body when she means another, and never leading by example. Very basic yoga, not for anyone with decent experience and looking for the true benefits that yoga offers. Yoga Barre was an absolute waste of time. read more

I've been going to the Yoga Tree for years - I literally took the beginner classes here about 15 years ago and really haven't left. But it's time for me to move on. This has never been a Type A studio which I appreciated but it's gotten slower and gentler over the years. Given the times I can go to yoga, it's now impossible for me to go to a practice and get what I would think of as a workout. This is a great place if you've been injured, ill, in rehab, etc. But if you're looking for core strength, upper body strength and more - this isn't really it. I've been to this studio for many years and they have stayed consistent throughout the years. They have quality teachers and it's a very close community that is both welcoming and friendly. The yoga varies from meditative to physically demanding, depending on which teacher you choose. I find the yoga at this studio more mature, with greater depth and understanding from the teachers. The energy is consistently positive and the pricing is good. The only downside is the relative road noise coming from Fremont Ave. Overall, this is one of the top studios in the seattle area for me. I've practiced yoga in the Seattle area on and off for about six years. I am not super experienced student but I have visited lots of studios and I am familiar with most of the positions. The Yoga Tree has become my second favorite studio (Two Dog Yoga in Lake City will always be my #1). I've taken classes with Jessica, Erica, Laura and Rachel. All of these women have been supportive and clear in their instruction. I never felt pushed past my comfort zone though I do like to give new positions a try. It is near a busy road but it is also a very convenient so for me that is a reasonable trade-off. I really like this studio and I look forward to attending many more classes. read more

I like this studio a lot and not just because its right next to my house. There are a lot of available classes to join in on so you can fit your yoga practice into any busy schedule. The teachers are nice and the classes are varied. I highly recommend going to the community classes on Wednesday at noon if you've got the time and are still looking for a regular studio to join. read more

This place has a great atmosphere and also challenge in the classes. The lighting makes me calm even in a vigorous class.
