I came here based on a recommendation to see Ellen Roth for some physical therapy for my back pain. After being in pain for weeks with lower back pain, I was starting to think about going to get a MRI and having thoughts of having a ruptured disc. But, I was told to come see Ellen as she's the best PT in Seattle; this is so true. Without going through the details Ellen sat down with me and we talked about my pain, she looked at how I walked, stood and observed my posture. She checked every vertebrae and was able to diagnose my problem. A few body rotations, a tug here and push here and she helped me almost immediately. She told me what I need to do at home to strengthen my back, gave me some instructions for me and for my massage therapist. Courtney is a great intro to pilates instructor. I had to miss a few classes due to a family emergency, but I felt like I would have had a solid foundation to take any of their reformer classes after taking the intro to pilates series. Easy to work with and easy to find, Bodycenter is amazing for pilates privates. Teresa continues to heal my body from horrible, chronic pain due to a MVA about 5 years ago. She is knowledgable, way chill and always on her game. I'm always amazed by the fast results and massive decrease in my pain. I'm currently at my second stint here at Bodycenter. I first started taking private and Group Reformer series classes about a year ago, but then took a break, and now am back again for private classes (as a refresher) and Group Reformer series class again. Albeit pricey, this place is absolutely wonderful for the body. All of the instructors are knowledgeable about movement and always incorporate a mix of exercises to suit your individual body's needs. Every instructor that I've worked with has introduced me to all sorts of exercises, movements, and tools to help improve my funny knees, which has really helped with my overall form as well as running. I've worked on a cadilla, reformer, some mat work, jumpboard, Bosu, was introduced to foam rollers, and so much more! My experiences w/different instructors are: Tiffany: she was my first private instructor. She taught me a lot about proper form and she was the first one to alert me of some of the odd movements I do with my knees to cause them to pop. She really tailored my sessions in mind w/ my goal to improve my running. Jordan (no longer here): she taught my first Group Reformer series class. The classes were small (max 4 ppl) and afforded a lot of individual attention for each of us. Jordan improved my balance and really focused on working the right muscles. I always came out of class feeling more free to move and balanced. Stacy: she subbed a couple of classes. I really like her style because it was more of a muscle workout without straining myself, which helped with my tone. Martha: she's my current instructor for private sessions. Super sweet and innovative, she's had me work on all sorts of the equipment. In the year that I was away, I'd forgotten a lot of body and muscle awareness, but Martha has really helped me to be more aware of my movements and muscles. Within three sessions, I've already noticed improvements, especially w/ my knees! read more

My husband and I recently moved to Ballard so I really wanted to like this place since it was so close to home. I took a mat class and it felt more like a yoga/stomach toning class than an actual Pilates class. Most of the classic Pilates moves (such as The 100, Roll Up, Leg Circles, Spine Stretch, Rolling like a Ball, etc.) were not incorporated in the session so if you are looking for a traditional Pilates class then this isn't it. One thing I found extremely weird was the instructor reading off a piece of paper to lead the class into the next pose she wanted us to go to- that was a first for me, normally they know what they want the class to do off the top of their head. Overall, I wouldn't be coming back (Just not my cup of tea) but it is a good place to go if you are looking to tone your stomach. read more

I love coming to workout at Bodycenter Studios! The studio is large, filled with light and has a lot going on! I love both of the instructors that I've worked with (Tiffany for private instruction and Ingrid for group reformer classes). The prices are reasonable and the studio is easy to find (right by Hale's brewery!). Bodycenter trains a ton of the local instructors, and comes highly recommended by my "usual" trainer (in Issaquah). I always get a thorough workout, without feeling completely drained. I love how they incorporate tons of small props (bands, bosu, etc) into my sessions. Its never the same! read more

I was trained to be an instructor here 7+ years ago (not so I could teach, as much as to get really knowledgeable about Pilates really fast). I have only recently returned to Seattle and started taking classes again. As I remembered it had been, it is still one of the most professionally-run fitness/wellness studios I've come across in the many places I have lived over the years. The directors and instructors take form and each person's very unique body and physical limitations very seriously - and always find modifications that will be safe, yet continue to challenge the student . I used a yelp deal to get an amazing deal on a 6 or 7 (cant remember) week series that Bodycenter Studios usually runs. I did a Pilates reformer series, and you get one private lesson, along with one group class per week at a scheduled time for 6 consecutive weeks. I really enjoyed the classes I had, they were very small, challenging, and you could feel them working your body all over. The instructors were all really friendly and helpful. I would totally do this every week, but sadly there is NO way I could ever afford the cost of your typical Pilates class. read more

I came to Bodycenter after several years at two other studios in the area. It's a great studio - always clean, the best and newest equipment, and great staff. I've taken weekly privates with Cherie for about 5 years and I think she is amazing. I have a number of injuries and limitations and she as been incredible to work with. She has a passion for learning about the body and is always able to come up with ideas or modifications to tailor the workout just to my needs. I've been going to Bodycenter since it opened 10 years ago and think it's phenomenal. I take private Pilates instruction that is tailored to my needs, which have included various physical problems over the years. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, caring, and just plain wonderful at what they do. The studio atmosphere is low-key and welcoming with top-notch equipment. I have taken private session, group sessions and drop in classes at Bodycenter Studios, as well as working with the physical therapist that works out of the space. I have had two outstanding private instructors (Jordan and Uraina) and have enjoyed all of the classes I've taken. Would highly recommend this studio to anyone interested in getting started with Pilates or finding a new Stott studio- as an athlete with a couple big injuries this has been the most important thing I do to keep myself happy and healthy. I am absolutely IN LOVE with Uraina Nagy and the rest of the women at Bodycenter Studios! The studio has a fun, serene atmosphere that is always a pleasure to escape to for an hour work out. I have worked out with Uraina for years, starting with my introduction to Pilates during summer vacations home from college. She is an incredible teacher, working with you to understand how your body is working and how it should feel during each exercise. She is able to give great demonstrations of how your muscles and bones should align and uses a gentle touch to guide you into strengthening your body with Pilates. Whether you are there to stretch and strengthen your muscles over time, or prefer a more cardio driven experience, Uraina listens to your and how your body is feeling to cater your routines to best suit your workout needs and style.
