They make it intentionally difficult to cancel and sign you up for auto renewal. Shady practices all over.

I don't even live in Seattle, and this has been one of my favorite places to work out…read more I originally found NW Fitness Project on ClassPass when I was in town visiting visiting my parents from San Francisco; I was training for a Tough Mudder at the time, and Matt and Kyle's classes were some of the most challenging but also most motivating classes and supportive classes I had attended to date. I ended up coming back regularly when I was living in Seattle for a few months to care for my mom while she was on hospice. It was a particularly awful period of my life, and working out was one activity that I tried to sustain to help me cope with what was going on. Whenever I stepped foot in this place, I was greeted by name by Matt or Kyle (something that is so simple to do, and means so much) and always felt welcomed and like I had a space of my own in the city when everything else felt incredibly unstable. No one at NWFP knew any of this, but the point is that it didn't matter. They treat everyone with kindness and grace, and that stuff matters to people. I highly recommend this place and the great humans that run it.

I got to try two classes at NW fitness project through Seattle fitness week…read more I did one strength training class and one performance conditioning class. Both classes had small group sizes with friendly coaches who offered encouragement and form correction. I liked the form of the strength class - every class focuses on a main lift with some accessory work. The performance and conditioning class had agility and power drills. I thought both classes really complimented each other!

I bought a Groupon for the 28 day work out for Ian Fitness. I was actually impressed with the gym…read moreclasses offered here. The fitness instructors, Chris and John were really nice and enthusiastic to help us lose weight and get fit. They asked us what our fitness goals were and we shared what we hoped to gain from the classes. In the 28 days, I went about 60% of the time. I wish they had a gym in North Seattle because the Queen Anne location is a bit of a drive for me, especially during high traffic time (6:15 p.m. class). There is plenty of parking at this facility. I really enjoyed the week day classes inside the gym. It doesn't get so crowded that you stand around. Both John and Chris were really great in helping us have the right posture while doing each work out routine so that we wouldn't insure ourselves. You end up doing a lot of squats and stomach exercises. During the first few classes, I was sore beyond belief. It really helped strengthen my muscles. On the weekends, you meet at a park in Queen Anne. While we worked out, we also played games. This was both entertaining and a great opportunity to become more in shape. The only minor critique I have is that their pricing structure is a bit steep. For those who don't have a great amount of disposable income, $100+ per month (can't remember the exact amount) is really expensive. I understand that gym memberships are expensive but this is on the pricier side. If you do the math, it is more than $1,000 a year for exercise classes. There is class pass offered in the Seattle area for $79, which gives you access to many different gyms around the city. I am aware that they have promotions but it only lasts for a limited amount of time. Aside from their pricing, I'd say that their instructors and facilities are top notch. I thoroughly enjoyed taking work out classes here. Oh yah, I forgot to mention that the recipes that the gym sends out are great. They email healthy recipes to those on their email chain. My friend who attends Ian, tried out a couple of dishes and really liked it.

What it has is a picture of Ian when he was 10. Why would anyone not looking for a middle school yearbook give a $*it about that? You'll have to ask him. It also has a bunch of before-after pictures of people who supposedly got results. Speaking of which... I called 3 times in the past week and each time got a voicemail that tried too hard to appear jovial. No one returned my calls. I don't know whether the people that train there are telepaths, or they actually stopped by in person just to get a brochure, but the cheesy website, fake voicemail greeting and non-existing customer service killed it for me.

The front desk is only open certain hours, but the gym is actually 24/7 with your key fob. It's located in the St James apartment building so the restrooms are in the hall, versus part of the locker rooms. I personally just go for a class then go home, so I'm okay giving up nice, fancy showers for a lower monthly gym membership. When I first moved to Fremont and started exploring gyms, I used ClassPass and it's cool because Fremont Health Club actually offers "gym time" for part of your ClassPass credits as well as classes. There are two studios, and they are on the smaller side, but what makes a difference is how great all the instructors are. They're friendly, and because it's a small gym, they remember your name and face and the community is really what makes this place special. The monthly membership includes 5 classes, but if you want unlimited classes it's a few dollars more per month. Since the gym is in such a great location, some classes are even on the roof when the weather's nice; I took a HIIT (high intensity interval training) where we ran under the bridge and worked out right along the Burke-Gilman trail with a great view of the water and mountains. I definitely recommend FHC for tons of fun class options that can fit many schedules!

I signed up for a 1 month membership or so I thought, and come to find out I was being billed an automatic renewal of 60$ a month, I would expect this type of underhanded treatment from a corporation, but by a locally owned and operated business was surprising.

I have Mike to thank for helping me get there. The best is yet to come. Stop looking for a personal trainer. Mike is the one.

Laura is a phenomenal trainer and I'm so glad I found her…read more We started working together 7 months ago in January and I can truly say I've never felt stronger or more confident because of our time working together. She's helped me gain body awareness, proper form, and knowledge of lifting in every session. As someone who hasn't had a particularly specific lifting routine before, I was daunted by the concept and she's been a huge asset in helping me feel more comfortable. My favorite thing about working with Laura is the zero judgement mentality she has about her clients. There have been weeks where we didn't meet, and when I didn't lift - and instead of feeling bad about it, she always has a "let's pick up where we left off" mentality. I know that its a safe space to fail or excel when I work with her and that keeps me so motivated! Other than being a beyond cool and down to earth female trainer, I love my time with Laura because of her deep expertise in body composition, muscle targeting, form queuing, and lifting principles.
