Large gym in capital hill. There is downstairs then up stairs with equipment and more free weights everywhere. The crowd is the regular capital hill crowd. It's a good gym and by what i have noticed the trainers seem invested in the clients and knowledgeable. Some of the equipment seems older and the cable machines are janky. Dropped in for two day passes while traveling in Seattle, great facility. Plenty of racks to squat & bench in, multiple deadlift platforms, chalk bowl and some specialty bars for powerlifting. Went here on vacation to do a kettlebell workout I've been doing for years now. Stupid easy to pay/get the door code to enter. The facility was well ventilated, bathrooms were clean, water was easy to get to. They had about 4 or 5 sets of kettlebells for each weight (major major kudos for them having an 18kg!). The vibe was also great; people were there to workout, not to socialize. read more

Love this place. In short: Friendly and fun vibe, well-equipped, affordable (and no pricing shenanigans). The facility itself is pretty big and they have a huge variety of well-maintained equipment. So far I've never had a problem finding the right equipment for the workout I want to do. That said, I don't come here during peak times so I can't speak to how crowded it gets or if there are waits for showers etc. Also haven't tried their classes. The monthly rates are pretty great for the area (currently $59/mo), and they don't do any of the annoying pricing tactics that most gyms do (initiation fee, membership freezing fees, etc). I live in two cities right now, and the owner, Ben, has been super-nice about freezing my membership when I'm gone, zero hassle. I'm not very social when I work out, but I do love seeing all of the community this gym has built up. Lifting competitions and groups, progress leaderboards, that kind of thing, plus lots of support for other local businesses. It's full of color and character, handwritten signage, random art, etc. Keep Captiol Hill weird :) My only wish-list item for this gym would be an incline trainer (treadmill that can go up to 30% incline instead of 15% like most). But those seem fairly rare anyway. read more

I joined Rain City Fit when it first opened over the summer. Back then, I couldn't even jump rope without tripping all over myself. In the past six months, I've experienced more results than any other workout regimen I've tried...and I've tried a ton. The individualized attention you get here from smaller class sizes guarantees you're doing the exercises correctly, safely, and efficiently. Ben's joy for teaching really rubs off on you- it's so much fun that the class flies by and you leave feeling stronger than ever. I can't recommend RCF enough. I love this gym so much. It's never particularly crowded. It's got kettlebells, dumbbells, treadmills, and benches. That's all I really require, but there's also resistance bands, foam roller, exercise balls, mats. Everything I need is there, but most importantly, an LGBT+ inclusive atmosphere. I've never felt weird or out of place because I'm a trans guy. Everyone here is so friendly and kind. If you bump into someone or catch their eye, they smile. If you politely ask for quick tips like, "am I doing this right?", people will help. It's a nice atmosphere and it's pretty cheap. If you live in capital hill, I don't know that there's a better gym you can go to. Shout-out to all the fitness trainers there for being so nice and friendly too ^*^ read more

I've been a member of my fair share of Globo-gyms. Let's be real, they have their place. However, the lack of connection, comradery, and community leaves you feeling like you're punching a card at a crowded cattle call every time you work out. I love CrossFit for solving for that problem, but it's a pricey way to workout. And I like to do my own programming. If only there was a gym that was decked out like a CrossFit gym (equipment-wise), but doesn't lock me in to whatever random workout everybody is doing that day. And open reeeaal early so I can get my workout in and still get to work before traffic sucks. And crawling distance to my condo, please. Does such a unicorn exist?? Yes it does! Welcome to gym nirvana. I love that I can keep a consistent workout schedule everyday (well, theoretically) and not worry that the gym isn't open before 8am on the weekends. I love that every single piece of essential gym equipment you could possibly need is there, and then some. I love that I never have to remember to bring a key card or fob because entry is controlled via fingerprint scanner. I love that the only other guy that's there at 4am shares my first name. He always puts the hip hop Spotify station on for me (you can choose the workout music at this gym!), but he doesn't know of my passion for Icelandic death metal. A small example of the community-oriented vibe at this gym. Ben, the owner, has a winning formula here. The place is clean and the people considerate. No "metcon bros" hogging squat racks doing bicep curls here. My only fear is the place will eventually become crowded as people discover this gem of gym. I rarely write reviews on Yelp but just had to for such a great gym that I think Capitol Hill needs. The actual location is very easy to get to if you live in the southern part of CH near the Pike/Pine corridor. I would not plan on trying to find parking. The space is huge for CH and is clean, well ventilated with free to use lockers, ample coat hangers and also 2 gender neutral bathrooms with showers in both. As for equipment it has a decent range of cardio equipment from treadmills to rowers. It also has a circuit area with astroturf and a sled if you are trying to bang out a WOD. The weight section is probably the main focus as it has 4 rogue fitness squat racks and a powerlifting platform with a plethora of bumper plates. It also stocks all the regular lifting belts, grips, and accessories that you could want. All the equipment is brand new and either Rogue Fitness or Bells of Steel which is awesome. The gym is accessed anytime with a fingerprint scanner at the main door from 4a-12a which means you can go at almost any time. The vibe is great, non-ego, nonjudgemental and just encouraging for all people independent of their fitness goals. I've seen a great variety of people in the gym and they are all respectful, clean, and nice. Even at its peak hours I have not felt that it was too packed or ever had to wait for any equipment. I think it fits a weightlifting niche in CH that you cannot get at the other larger chain gyms which seem to mainly focus on cardio and may only have 1 or 2 squat racks that always seem to be used for bicep curls. The owner Ben is very laid back, helpful, and really welcoming to everyone that walks into the gym. Pricing is very reasonable with a monthly fee without initiation fees, contract terms, or fine print. Overall, the gym has everything you need if you are looking for weightlifting, cross training, or cardio but honestly the vibe and the no nonsense environment is what makes me want to go back. read more

This gym is great! Has everything you need. Friendly supportive staff and owners! As a woman it can be *fun* going to a gym and this spot makes me feel safe! They have a no tolerance policy for anyone who makes you uncomfortable or does anything racist/ homophobic / sexist. And they enforce proper mask wearing, capacity rules, end sanitizing practices! Greatest gym I've ever been to! The owner Ben is frequently around and can be seen making repairs, socializing with members, checking in, or getting a workout in. RCF does have great personal trainers on board, too, if that's what you're needing. Overall it's a very dynamic gym with loads of different equipment. After two months at this gym, I will be ending my membership. Never saw the owner (or any staff member, for that matter) once! Which is a bummer because the bathrooms could really use a bit of cleaning. The place is pretty bare bones with no towels and definitely not the place for you if you're looking for cardio.. Lots and lots of weights, dumbbells, with only a few dusty treadmills and bikes on the other side.. There are a few group classes but not often and at unusual hours (6am, for instance). Huge fan, I have been training with Ben (owner) for about a year now. I watched him work hard to build this place out since the day he signed the lease. As a small business owner, it makes me so happy to also support someone who lives in the neighborhood, versus auto-debiting my money away into the pockets of some chain gym. I think everyone who has a membership here feels the same, as people actually respect the equipment, clean, put back, etc. This is a no-ego, super friendly environment. If you can appreciate that not everything in Seattle needs to be a brand new multi-million dollar ultra luxury modern turn key business, you're going to like it here, too. What else... Never busy, everything I need is here, its all in great shape and there's always something new or changing, Music is open for anyone to pick... Ben is seriously an amazing trainer. I signed up for his personal training sessions based on his reviews on here and got some of the best workouts I've ever had. I have a medical condition that keeps me from doing certain exercises and high intensity stuff, but he did some research on his own and came up with some routines just for me. The workouts were well-rounded and I am always sore in unfamiliar places the next day. My balance has also greatly improved which I wasn't expecting. We used up every minute of my time slot each session. No fooling around! I honestly cannot recommend Ben enough! He has such a warm personality, but he's definitely not soft so don't let that fool you! I look forward to our sessions every week because for once working out is actually pretty fun. : ) read more

Honestly, I decided to give Rain City Fit a try because it's so close to my apartment. I hate getting up for morning work outs, but I love being done with my workout for the day. I was excited to find a class I could walk to. I'm glad I made the effort to check out Rain City Fit. The format of Ben's boot camp class is awesome. It's a mix of cardio and strength training, focusing on different muscle groups depending on the day of the week (while still getting a solid full body workout). He does a great job of mixing up the workout so you're never bored. Ben is incredibly welcoming, motivating and great at providing feedback to help you workout smarter.
