This was a wonderful, clean gym with a variety of equipment, plenty of dumbbells, and space to work out. I accidentally bought a membership at the wrong location and the owners were easy to contact and happily switched my membership to the correct location. 10/10 recommend this gym! read more

This is a great neighborhood gym! Highly recommend it to anyone nearby. It's a very clean facility with updated equipment. I love how easy it was to start up my membership. read more

This place is awesome. I've been looking for a gym that fits my vibe, and this place is definitely it. It's clean, I never have to wait long for equipment, and everyone just minds their own business. I love it here. read more

I accidentally stayed past closing time one night and triggered the alarm. I fully accept responsibility for that mistake. What disappointed me was how management handled it. After multiple unanswered emails and discovering that my access code had already been deactivated, I had to call Chris myself. During the call, he came across as dismissive, interrupted me repeatedly, and seemed more interested in lecturing than having a conversation. My access was revoked and my membership was canceled without any warning. I was also told I might be charged alarm-related fees, but no amount or documentation was provided. Rules should be enforced, but customers should also be treated with respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. read more

New equipment. Never crowded. Friendly people. Excellent Management. Flexible plans. Personal trainers are available.

Great gym - it's clean, affordable, easy to use, has all the equipment you need, and lots of street parking!

I have been working out here for years and the equipment is very new and it never that crowded and is open every day of the year

UP Beacon Hill is a wonderful facility with friendly staff and contentious gym-goers. We used this gym for the last year and a half and only left because we moved to a different part of town. HIGHLY recommend this gym. read more

No day passes. Could've been an easy 5 stars. This place should maximize on pilots traveling into BFI that need a quick fix.

Fantastic gym! Only reason why I had to leave was due to moving out of the neighborhood. Would highly recommend.

I love my neighbourhood gym! It's always clean, safe, the staff I've interacted with over email have always been incredibly helpful and kind. I was intimidated at first because I have had negative experiences with the other members at gyms but folks here keep to themselves and are respectful of everyone around them. read more

I love this gym, it's just a mile from my house but has everything you need. It's always immaculately clean, the code in system never fails, parking is super easy and it's never too crowded for me to get a good workout. I also believe I see the owner in there all the time, he's always extremely friendly with everyone, seems very happy to help explain the machines to people but overall it's just a very good vibe. I couldn't recommend it enough. read more

I travel for work and have been to so many gyms. Urban Playground has definitely been a favorite of mine! It's small but has everything you need and then some. Feels spacious and it's never so crowded you have to wait around for machines. It's always super clean, even the bathrooms always smell good. And the people that come here are respectful enough to actually re-rack their weights! As well as wipe down equipment after use. There's free parking available which is a huge plus. You'll likely run into the owner every now and then, he's a really friendly guy and seems to genuinely care about his customers experience. read more

Fantastic neighborhood gym! Great equipment, great training, never too crowded. Love this place.

This is a great neighborhood gym. I have been a member here for 3 years. This is the gym you're looking for if you want a place with good equipment (a mix of free weights and machines) and convenience. It's keypad entry, let yourself in. They don't have much staff but the owner is there frequently and is very helpful. Convenient, no-nonsense place to do my workouts. They have three barbell stations and a good selection of machines. The people who work out here are diverse, low key, and just doing their workouts and keeping to themselves for the most part. Never had any problems with other members here, or disruptive behavior. read more

I've been a member since February and I'm a big fan of Urban Playground. I've been missing some workouts due to the hellish parking situation at the Seattle Bouldering Project and wanted somewhere close by to do weight training. Pros: (+) Very very clean gym with everyone wiping down equipment after use with a cleaning spray and the staff rotates out the rags used for wiping. -It's a small detail that makes a huge difference in contrast to a recent experience at a Portland 24 Hour Fitness where no one wiped down anything down and the benches were polished shiny and slick from the sweaty backs of everyone using it, so I greatly appreciate how clean the gym is. (+) Always a stack of sweat towels ready to use, another nice touch. (+) Price is very reasonable considering memberships like at SBP keeps going up and up. (+) Has the equipment I use most frequently: Bar bench, Lat Row/Pull, Hip abductors, squat racks with a platform, dips and pull up areas, dumbbell racks and benches. (+) Never too packed inside! (+) Walkable (+) Cafetal Quilombo next door serves up amazing food for afterwards. Cons: (-) Only a minor con, but it does get slightly toasty inside, especially when one is doing cardio on the treadmill or Stairmaster. I did cancel my membership temporarily due to getting into a new cycling hobby and cancelling was pretty easy. I'll be back in Fall! read more

Well equipped gym, clean and great customer service. I've been a member for more than a year now at the Mt. Baker location. Not

A really great, no frills gym that has everything you need. There's 6 squat racks/bench stations, a variety of cardio machines, and plenty of free weights. It's a code entry place and all self serve. read more

Short review: this place is frustration free, clean, not crowded, new equipment and best off all: commitment free monthly dues & no imitation fees. All online, no annoying front desk to check into. Overview: recently moved to west Seattle and was appalled by the gym options. Anytime was extremely overpriced. LA Fitness was disgusting and WSHC was outdated. Saw that this was only a short drive (right on and off the bridge). Conveniently located and lots of parking either on the street or covered retail. Gym: was not crowded the first time I went. Maybe about 10 people. Fantastic rogue and matrix equipment. There are 3 power racks and all were free when I was there for over an hour. Nice bumper plates and everything was well organized. I can tell the patrons give a damn because they wiped things down and put equipment back where they found it. It's much bigger than it looks online and has a great layout. Lots of cardio machines, multiple spots to do free weights and 2 grassy functional fitness type area to do HIIT, stretch or CrossFit style movements. What blew me away was how clean this facility is. Even the bathrooms were spotless. Extremely happy with my new gym! read more

Urban Playground Mt. Baker location PROS: spacious no-nonsense well appointed neighborhood kind and knowledgeable owners polite fellow members clean sweat towels always available CONS: safe on-street 2 hour parking is scarce Peleton bikes are a bit old and finicky maybe add a couple more great trainers? read more

Gym was always kept super clean. Easy access to 3 power racks, lots of machines and full line up of dumbells/kettlebells. Will forever be a fan! read more

Had a great experience as an infrequent visitor. I felt comfortable and safe while exercising there. The staff made it easy to cancel my membership when I needed to. Great place for affordable, well-maintained, and un-fussy exercising. read more

Wonderful local gym with all amenities. Only thing I may have liked was a rowing machine. I am new to gyms and got a trainer from the gym (Tybald) who I had six sessions with and was excellent and taught me the basics of strength training. Not intimidating at all, people of all ages and levels. A great and welcome experience. read more

Best gym in south Seattle. The facilities are well-maintained and management is very attentive. If you're looking for an unpretentious and community-minded gym, this is it. read more

This is a great gym. The equipment is practically new. It is always clean. It was never too full of people, and we would go during peak hours. My only complaint is the parking. We went to the Mount Baker location that does not have any reserved parking for the gym. I believe the south Seattle location has its own parking lot. The Mount baker location is not in the best area, with Rainier Ave. only a block away. We never had any problems, but it did worry me that we had to park our car on the street, mostly at night since that was when we were normally able to go to the gym. read more

Fantastic gym. Has all the equipment you could possibly ask for at a reasonable price.

Love this gym. Payments are straightforward no extra fees or commitments. Owner is great, super friendly and really makes you feel like part of the community. I have absolutely no complaints about the gym itself. It does get busy sometimes right after work since it's not a large place and so I just try to go during off peak times. Also, like everywhere else-- people need to shower before they go to the gym. read more

Urban Playground is a great, clean gym in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. There are towels & lockers available, plenty of free street parking, and pretty much all of the equipment you would need for a solid workout. It's rarely packed/too busy and other members are friendly & considerate. Would definitely recommend joining this gym if you're looking for one in the area. read more

A great local gym with no contract. I needed this gym for just a couple of months this summer. It's small, but very well appointed given the space. There is ample new high quality equipment in a clean environment. For the price provided and the flexibility of a month to month contract, you can't really go wrong here. read more

Super clean, equipment is in great shape, and UP staff are super responsive. This is the only gym I feel comfortable going to in the context of the pandemic. UP is very clear on their COVID policies and makes it easy for gym goers to stay safe while exercising. read more

I love being a member here -- they have everything I need (3 squat racks, a bench, treadmills, machines, free weights, pull up bars, etc). Chris the owner is super nice and keeps the place immaculately clean. It's never overcrowded which is very nice and the community is respectful. Highly recommended! read more

Great gym. Simple, clean, plenty of equipment. Nice people. Good price and good location.

By far one of the best gyms that I have been a part of. UP has a fun, private and secure environment for those just getting started on their quest for fitness or for those that want to continue a fitness program. UP is a great neighborhood gym. I highly recommend UP for anyone around the Beacon Hill area. M.A.R read more

Clean, modern, high-end gym. I was so excited to find a gym like this near Columbia City. Everything is super nice and the space is well-utilized. There is plenty of equipment including free weights, machines, and cardio. There is also a nice turf area for stretching, yoga, or floor exercises. I never have any issues with equipment availability. During COVID, the gym has done a wonderful job staying super clean and making sure members are following their guidelines. I moved over from a big box gym and am very happy that I did so. Highly recommend! read more

Urban playground is a great gym. The equipment is always clean and everything is always easy to find. Though the facility is small, they make great use of the space with a large variety of machines and two open turf areas. As an introvert, I appreciated the code access system and the politeness of the other gym goers. The urban playground team makes it simple and easy to both start and cancel a membership, which was a huge bonus for me as I like to workout in the gym during the winter season but prefer to get my exercise outside during the summer. Their monthly and 6 month memberships work great for this. Safe to say I will be back come winter! read more

Solid neighborhood gym. Great selection of equipment. Quiet timeframe for a flexible schedule and parking is easy

Looking for a clean, well equipped, POSITIVE, friendly and welcoming gym? Look no further than Urban Playground! With an easy access code, you can take advantage of the gym at your convenience. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. Chris Mogadam, one of the owners is an energetic, optimistic, soul of the earth man. You'll see him there frequently (Beacon Hill location). I can't speak more highly about this gym, and the management. Do yourself a physical and spiritual favor and try it out! read more

Small private gym, very clean! There's towels and disinfectant bottles all over the gym. The gym also provides towels for members to use. It doesn't have a sauna or showers because it's a neighborhood gym, most people live in the area. I liked that this gym was never crowded, pretty quiet, everybody's in their zone. You can find almost (!) all gym equipment here except for the calf raise machine, leg extension, or hack squat. There's only one stairmaster When I do cardio on the stairmaster, I usually do so for about 25-30 minutes so this could be an issue if more than one person wants to use it. I do like that there are two squat racks with a platform for deadlifts. There are not enough 45lb plates however. There are only (4) 45lb plates for the leg press (2 for each side max). I had to take the two plates from the bench press and two more from one of the squat racks. This could be an issue as well if there is someone using the bench and squat rack at the same time. You wouldn't be able to do more on the leg press. So that brings me to who this gym might be a good fit for? This gym is good if you're just looking to stay healthy and want to tone at the gym. This gym might not be a good fit if you're wanting to lift heavier. Individual monthly membership is $70 - is it worth the price? Eh, I guess so. It's convenient. read more

Excellent neighborhood gym. I was in town for two months and I'm really pleased I stayed right around the corner. Always clean, hardly ever busy, towels provided (they were always plentiful) and sign-up was all done online after which, 30 mins later, I had a code emailed to me to start enjoying the facilities. All gyms should work this way, frictionless. Thanks Chris! read more

Have been so desperate for a decent workout that I impulsively committed to this gym (conveniently super close to my house) and I can safely say it was a great decision. Amidst this difficult time, I'm so happy that this gym prioritizes cleanliness over anything. They are definitely adhering to social distancing guidelines and taking preventatives measures for everyone's safety. Paper towels and surface cleaner spray bottles are readily available after the usage of each machine and often I'll see the business owners come in to sanitize every surface. Aside from that, it is so refreshing to have access to such new equipment. It truly makes it feel like it's worth my money. (P.S. - I've never used a machine that can do both hip abductions AND adductions!!) Initially I thought the space would be too small for me, it's much smaller than what I'm used to, but having used it consistently it really hasn't been much of an issue, surprisingly. This is a very solid gym, though I wish they had a locker room :) read more
