There's a reason why you'll see everyone from athletes & body builders, to people at the very beginning of their fitness journey at Henry's; and it's because the Staff, environment, quality and availability of equipment is unmatched. Need help achieving your goals? Great, they've got amazing trainers, each with many years of experience and the success stories to back it up. They'll streamline your fitness journey for you and with you --step by step. More of a get in, work out, get out person? Cool, they've got all the equipment you'll need and it's always well maintained. Want more of a community experience? I've never seen someone walk in and not be greeted by name and spoken to genuinely. Everyone I've encountered at Henry's, both staff and patron has been kind and welcoming. It's difficult to find an affordable spot in a city as good as this one, and it's the first gym in a long time I've had zero complaints about. Great place to get strong! read more

If you are thinking about joining Henry's Gym, make sure to read all the fine print in the contract! Once you sign, there is a grace period of 3-ish days to cancel, after that -- you're locked down for 12 months! I'm not sure how the contract is legal as it seems morally and ethically corrupt. After a weird situation with another member -- a guy tried to pursue me and I found out he was in a relationship -- I wanted to cancel my membership but after rereading the contract, I decided to change the time I went to the gym instead. I managed to successfully avoid the weird guy until the end of my contract and during that time, I began noticing other issues at Henry's gym. Here are a few of my observations: 1. Very quick turn around in the front desk team. This is always a sign that a place is badly managed and cares for profit above all else. In the year that I was a member, I saw the entire front desk team change multiple times. Made me sad to see people lose their spark working there. 2. Overpriced memberships for nonexistent amenities. The "basic" membership is around $100-$-110 and since they took away the towel service, the only "amenity" is the keypad lockers. All the amenities offered are exclusively for the more expensive memberships. Initially, I was willing to pay a little extra to support a local business and foster community in my life. However, over time I saw that this "community" was male centered. 3. Unhygienic male members. While the crowd of members are diverse in gender, age, race and body type and typically do wipe down the machines, a majority of the male members do not. Generally speaking, the typical "gym bros" that go there are unhygienic and self centered when occupying space in the gym. There have been a couple times when I've seen men so sweaty that it looks like they've peed their pants! It's so unhinged it's laughable! 4. Henry's does offer a variety of machines, weights, equipment, etc. That being said, the mats used for stretching or ab exercises are falling apart. I mentioned this when I cancelled my membership and the manager said new ones are on the way however, I didn't see them before the end of the last month of my membership. Not sure what the truth is there but I used the mats frequently to stretch after cardio and again, a majority of the mats were falling apart as well as not many people wiped them down. 5. The "art" around the gym is superficial and some of it really pushes the lines of cultural appropriation. If you actually read the quotes and look at the photos, it's all over the place and lacks a cohesive aesthetic. It didn't really bother me, just reminded me of ClipArt. Another one of the reasons I joined initially was for the lack of fluorescent lighting. That'll be the one thing I'll miss from Henry's gym, the lighting. Overall, I think Henry's has the potential to be a really cool gym but as it stands today, it's a flop in my eyes. read more

First off; their personal trainers openly criticize each other. When switching trainers, the new trainer said the one I had didn't know what they're doing. Aside from making me really uncomfortable, I'm now faced with the question of have I been paying lots of money for nothing? Do Henry's trainers not actually know what they're doing? Secondly, I broke my right leg six weeks ago, rendering my ability get to the gym let alone make good use of the location impossible. In six weeks, despite several emails and phone calls, they've been unable to just pause my membership. Henry's is a cool gym with caring members and community. This gym alone has a lot of history and may appeal to some as it is also a bar. The training staff is always friendly and each one of them can specialize in different training techniques from functional fitness to mobility . Clean equipment but small gym that doesn't have the best A/c. A lot of new upgrade equipment and recovery machines. The vibe here is so nice and chill. Energetic music and doesn't seem that crowded, at least during the day. Best thing tho is my trainer, Garrett. He strikes the perfect balance between challenge and fun. I used to dread getting back in shape but now I'm into it because he makes it a time I look forward to. I rolled my ankle a few weeks ago and was afraid I'd be unable to train, but Garrett adjusted the movements and kept me going so that I strengthened the ankle without over-doing it. I took a 2.5 mile hike just two weeks after the sprain and felt good! Overall just very happy I joined this place. It may not be the cheapest gym but I get a ton of value so it's fine. read more

DO NOT JOIN: Was a member for the last year. I tried cancelling 4 months ago and they ARE STILL CHARGING ME. You cannot cancel unless you 1) have proof of death, 2) have proof of becoming disabled to the point you cannot move, 3) move 25+ miles away. Otherwise there is NO WAY too cancel. Not exxaggerating at all. They are psychotic. Their contracts are predatory. They change gym amenities constantly. They are evil. Very mid for a gym, first impression, first time at this gym and there is a $30 guest charge, and oddly no tour was provided to know where everything is in the gym. Apparently there are two main floors, I followed my friend to the second floor with some basic gym equipment tread, elliptical, 2 bikes, and machines to complete legs, core and arms upstairs. From my understanding they also have a free weights area on the first floor but I have not been able to find where it's located. For the $30 pass I expected a bit more. I travel frequently for work and end up trying a lot of different gyms, and Henry's Gymnasium easily ranks alongside places like John Reed Fitness and the higher-end Lifetime clubs. The space is spotless, the equipment selection is excellent, and the vibe is upbeat without any of the awkward or distracting stuff you sometimes encounter at modern gyms. I started my health and fitness journey at Henry's about three months ago and it has been great! The facilities are always clean, its never too crowded, and the staff are always helpful and pleasant. Specifically, I have been working with Danny Calkins as a personal trainer and he has been awesome! I have never worked with a trainer before and am a larger body type so was really intimidated to get started. Danny's training style helped me get over that almost immediately. He is always very professional and receptive to my physical limitations while still pushing me to progress. However, I was sad to pay $31 for a day pass and was there for less than two hours and no parking onsite. Little overpriced if you ask me. However, my two negatives aside I really liked this gym. This is a great gym for experienced lifters with awesome and unique equipment. Interior design is fire! But friendly and helpful to new gym comers with lots of personal training options. What can I say, what an exceptional experience this institution offers. This place takes under account a factor that most conventional exercise institutions skimp over, and that is the atmosphere setup. While maybe overlooked and looked down upon if not truly understood, the psychologist effects of having the right environment setup (lights, layout, music, cleanliness, and staff attitude) does have significance when it comes to boosting motivation and performance overall. I like this place. The first time I stepped in, I was welcomed by the nice and humble owner (Glen) and staff, I felt understood and my goals heard and acknowledged. Based on that, I was paired with an amazing and humble personal trainer (Danny Calkins) that is making sure that my workout sessions are tailored for my fitness goals and aspirations. Does not look like much when you walk past but it is such a nice, clean, and fancy gym! They do tours so you can check it out before committing. They even have a smoothie bar inside if you need a post workout protein smoothie. The prices don't include a plus one which I would say is the biggest downside. I am so use to gyms having a "plus one" that is with the price. If you bring a friend, it is $25 per person but they donate that to a local shelter. Tao was super welcoming as soon as we walked in, greeting us and giving us a tour of the gym. My friend and I came down to visit from California, and it was definitely a spot worth checking out. The atmosphere was beautiful, the music was on point (shazamed many songs lol) and the art was amazing! We ended up getting smoothies after our workout. We spoke with the owner, who was very friendly and informative, showing us some murals around the gym. It's a very diverse and incredible place. Henry's Gymnasium has a beautiful decor and is impeccably maintained. There's such a cool vibe with friendly staff, state-of-the-art equipment, and plenty of space to do what you want to do. I've been doing personal training with Danny, who listens to my fitness goals and tailors my workouts to reach those goals. Danny's workout programming motivates me with a variety of exercises and continually challenges me to achieve those goals and hit personal bests. Danny has a deep knowledge of fitness and is thoughtful about the programming, always considering my specific mobility restrictions. Plus, he's genuinely nice, motivating, and easy to talk to.
