I was a member of this gym for two years, bad experience with its staff, so unlike other gyms, you who enter it, abandon all hope.

The teachers here are amazing, they're not just there to coach, they actually jump in and work out with you, which makes the whole experience so much more motivating. This place has changed over time, but it still delivers a workout that's fun and keeps you coming back. I'm still mourning the loss of Blended (their smoothie and açaí shop), who doesn't love a post-workout treat that feels like a reward? Right now, that space looks like it's under construction, so I'm hoping they bring it back or create something just as great. They also moved the entrance further up the street, and the new self-check-in system makes things way smoother so no more awkward moments while someone looks for your name. As for the workouts, they've got spin, yoga, strength training, and Shred. Shred is like mat Pilates on steroids with free weights, resistance bands, and weighted balls. My favorites are yoga and Shred, both in infrared-heated rooms, so you'll definitely sweat it out. The vibe is on point with cool lighting and upbeat music that keeps you going (even through endless planks). Plus, their waiting area is surprisingly big and has a fun, modern feel. Parking? Super easy. There's free parking in the apartment complex this space is in, and if that's full, street parking is usually close by. Overall, Studio 3 still delivers, even with the changes. Now if only those smoothies would make a comeback.......fingers crossed for summer!

They'll streamline your fitness journey for you and with you --step by step. More of a get in, work out, get out person? Cool, they've got all the equipment you'll need and it's always well maintained. Want more of a community experience? I've never seen someone walk in and not be greeted by name and spoken to genuinely. Everyone I've encountered at Henry's, both staff and patron has been kind and welcoming. It's difficult to find an affordable spot in a city as good as this one, and it's the first gym in a long time I've had zero complaints about. Great place to get strong!

If you are thinking about joining Henry's Gym, make sure to read all the fine print in the…read morecontract! Once you sign, there is a grace period of 3-ish days to cancel, after that -- you're locked down for 12 months! I'm not sure how the contract is legal as it seems morally and ethically corrupt. After a weird situation with another member -- a guy tried to pursue me and I found out he was in a relationship -- I wanted to cancel my membership but after rereading the contract, I decided to change the time I went to the gym instead. I managed to successfully avoid the weird guy until the end of my contract and during that time, I began noticing other issues at Henry's gym. Here are a few of my observations: 1. Very quick turn around in the front desk team. This is always a sign that a place is badly managed and cares for profit above all else. In the year that I was a member, I saw the entire front desk team change multiple times. Made me sad to see people lose their spark working there. 2. Overpriced memberships for nonexistent amenities. The "basic" membership is around $100-$-110 and since they took away the towel service, the only "amenity" is the keypad lockers. All the amenities offered are exclusively for the more expensive memberships. Initially, I was willing to pay a little extra to support a local business and foster community in my life. However, over time I saw that this "community" was male centered. 3. Unhygienic male members. While the crowd of members are diverse in gender, age, race and body type and typically do wipe down the machines, a majority of the male members do not. Generally speaking, the typical "gym bros" that go there are unhygienic and self centered when occupying space in the gym. There have been a couple times when I've seen men so sweaty that it looks like they've peed their pants! It's so unhinged it's laughable! 4. Henry's does offer a variety of machines, weights, equipment, etc. That being said, the mats used for stretching or ab exercises are falling apart. I mentioned this when I cancelled my membership and the manager said new ones are on the way however, I didn't see them before the end of the last month of my membership. Not sure what the truth is there but I used the mats frequently to stretch after cardio and again, a majority of the mats were falling apart as well as not many people wiped them down. 5. The "art" around the gym is superficial and some of it really pushes the lines of cultural appropriation. If you actually read the quotes and look at the photos, it's all over the place and lacks a cohesive aesthetic. It didn't really bother me, just reminded me of ClipArt. Another one of the reasons I joined initially was for the lack of fluorescent lighting. That'll be the one thing I'll miss from Henry's gym, the lighting. Overall, I think Henry's has the potential to be a really cool gym but as it stands today, it's a flop in my eyes.

I was fairly confident on treadmill but I have gone a long time without strength training so I got my butt kicked then. The instructor Noah led the class well and gave clear instructions that I was able to follow easily. I'm impressed how he can give instructions to the floor and the treadmill groups at the same time. I also liked how Noah wasn't pushing us too hard and kept it open for the participants to modify their workout according to their capability. They provide you with two sets of hand towels on the treadmill and the floor station, so no need to bring a towel to wipe your sweat. The locker room is kept tidy, and if I remembered correctly, there were three shower stalls in the women's locker. Shower stalls were stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and face cleanser. They also provide bath towel, which is very helpful. On top of that, they have dyson hair dryer, so you can take all the time you need to clean up after the workout. Post workout, I tried the Barry's & Brunch smoothie. They were a nice size and was refreshing after class. All the smoothies come with vanilla flavored whey protein, which was blended well with the drink. Only one concern I had was that the vanilla flavor came off too strong and I thought the smoothie was a little too sweet for my preference. I'm signed up for another class this Saturday, and I am excited to get back!

You leave feeling accomplished after a thorough workout while dancing to great songs. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came here. It was a bit confusing trying to find the studio. When you enter from street level, you have to go downstairs towards the Underground Dance Studio. You can either dance barefoot or with shoes (wish they could make a rule about which one because my feet always get dirty). The class starts off with some warm up dances and then moves through different types of styles of dancing with each song change. You get to express yourself however you want to. You don't have to do every single move the same way and they encourage movement around the floor. Thankfully there are a bunch of fans around the room because by the 3rd song I'm always sweating. There are no official breaks so step off the dance floor and get water as necessary. Class ends with some stretching and warm cloths with some sort of essential oil. I can't wait til the next class!

What I can say is that all the instructors are have their own styles but are definitely wonderful and will keep you happily dancing. What I particularly like about this place is the christmas lighting and the setting that makes you not feel so self-conscious about what you are doing wrong or how terrible of a dancer you may think you are. I admit that I'm not a naturally good dancer and I have a good time everytime I go there. There are, of course, some people there who can dance like rock stars and look really cool when they dance. However, the instructors there are very encouraging and provide guidance what you can do as a beginner, intermediate or advanced dancers, so you can really just do things at your own level and not care so much about others. It definitely feels liberating to just be able to dance your own style, at your own pace/level, and nobody is judging you on how you look or how weird you dance :). After the package ran out, I ended up signing up for more classes and still go there whenever I find some free time.

However, most of the machines at this gym have more than one mode (i.e. Different workouts). There's a lot of place to do some cross fit stuff if that's what you're into. Guest pass costs $10/day. I like going to this gym because it's open 24/7 so I can come in whenever I want. Most gyms in the Seattle area close by the time I want to start a workout. I don't like to rush a workout so being opened 24/7 is a plus. Membership is capped at around ~500 members and it's never super busy compared to an la fitness or 24hr. After dedicating so much time and effort to helping run this gym, I felt I deserved at least the courtesy of a phone call from the owner, Omar Acosta, rather than having another employee deliver the message. The explanation given was that the gym was losing members and that there had been email complaints about me. Also that the owner had decided to sell the business. In my experience, those claims do not reflect the dedication and work ethic I consistently brought to this gym. I regularly went above and beyond my responsibilities, including spending my own money on cleaning supplies and doing everything possible to help maintain the facility and support members. Unfortunately, my experience with ownership was disappointing. Communication from the owner was typically negative, critical, or accusatory, with little support provided to staff. The overall environment often felt more focused on cutting costs than improving the experience for members or employees. I also believe the gym's advertising is misleading. Many of the services and amenities promoted are either unavailable or poorly maintained. There is no trainer, no yoga classes, the mats are worn and difficult to keep sanitary, and several pieces of equipment and benches are outdated and in need of replacement. I care deeply about the fitness community and the people who work hard to maintain a positive gym environment, which is why I feel obligated to share my honest experience. There are several other gyms in the area with updated equipment, and owners who are more engaged with and supportive of both their staff and members. This owner has even fallen out with the building management on several occasions because of unreasonable and entitled requests and expectations. I hope ownership takes these concerns seriously and makes meaningful improvements moving forward.
