Love shefa! Discovered this studio in 2021 when a combination of the pandemic and a hellish home remodel pushed my mental health to the brink... having shefa as a "third place" between work and home was a lifesaver, especially when most studios were only offering online classes. The teachers and styles available vary greatly- try a few different classes to find the right fit. Other stuff to love: Heat level- moderate, high nineties. Personally, prefer this to the stifling heat of bikram Class schedule- AMAZING- earliest class is at 6am, multiple 7:30p classes weekly. I love having the option to work a full day and not need to rush to get to a 6p class Super nice front desk staff! Friendly and chill, they keep the studio sparkling and are generous with the hairbands, thanks y'all :) Booking classes and viewing the schedule is SO easy with the mindbody app, too. I do wish the studio offered showers (especially after Dawni Rae's awesome high intensity classes!) but it's nbd- just plan to rinse off at home after. Can't say enough about this studio. Teachers and staff are incredibly talented. Current favorite class is Chelsea's Wednesday night Yin class which has really helped me relax and stay centered mid week. It's got one of the best pedigrees (10+ yrs) in Seattle but definitely got hit by Covid and needed a refresh. The upgrades they've made to the facilities since reopening have really enlivened the space. I feel honored to practice here. It's such a supportive and safe community. I'm upset that I didn't do more research before giving them $25 for a 2 week trial. It turns out the owner refused to follow covid guidelines a few months back and remained open, despite state orders. I would never have given them my money if I had known this. I've gone the past 2 days. Masks are now optional if you are vaccinated "and/or" you're comfortable taking it off. That's not what the CDC guidelines say... You should only be going maskless if you are fully vaccinated. That's not what this studio believes apparently. Upon more investigation, I found out that masks have been optional while practicing for months. I would not recommend supporting this studio, as the owner clearly doesn't care about the health of her clients, staff, or community. read more

*Mother yoga in china town is a great alternative or doing yoga with Adriene on YouTube!!* I would suggest avoiding Shefayoga studio. I had decided to try a two week trial, as I paid and was there for my first class they told me the class was filled after taking my money. They wouldn't let my friend into the class due to it "being full" but she reserved her spot online prior to our arrival. They told me I could save the two week trial and it would take effect on the first day I take a class. I have yet to start my trial but now have been charged for a monthly membership, this would be fine if I was able to complete the trial to see if I enjoyed it but I haven't been able to yet. I tried to get my money back and was told I should receive a refund. Instead a got a voicemail a few days later saying I need to email them. Each time I call them I receive no answer and now I have to go back in to the studio. This has turned into an extremely frustrating and stressful experience considering I was pursuing an activity to help me feel more relaxed. I will not be attending this studio and hope that I can get my money back but may have to contact my bank to block their transactions if they don't correct this. read more

There are many aspects to consider when choosing a studio. There's the price/ booking options, which classes are offered and when, and the philosophy/vibe of the studio. Shefayoga strikes a wonderful balance between all of these aspects! Their online booking is extremely convenient, and I was originally drawn in by their anniversary promo in April. There are quite a few options for membership, which are consistent with or less expensive than other studios in the area. They offer Yin (though only once a week), Hatha, and frequent Power Vinyasa classes. Not every studio offers Yin, so I was excited to see it on their list. There's a diverse mix of people who attend the classes, and an open, accepting vibe. I've never felt a competitive vibe here like I have at other studios. There's always adequate space between mats. Though every instructor is different, I've consistently experienced well-paced classes, excellent music, and a moderate amount of spirituality. I mention spirituality because some studios are almost religious, while others are like a gym class. Shefayoga falls somewhere in the middle, which makes me feel comfortable. I also like that the Power Vinyasa is very warm, but not as suffocating as other studios. Shefayoga fulfills all of my yoga needs! I'm so happy I found a place that suits my preferred brand of practice. I always leave feeling lifted. read more

LOVE Leah, the owner, and Leah, the Yin Yoga instructor - they are my two favorites. This is a great studio that is so personal, the instructors actually take the time to get to know your name and your yoga practice. I've practiced at Shefa for three years, and have really grown in my yoga practice during that time. Love that they were so accommodating during my pregnancy as well. It kept me sane and healthy during pregnancy, and I am convinced I had an easy peasy delivery and recovery because of it. Was wonderful coming back to do yoga after my delivery as well. I started going to Shefayoga through a Groupon, but I've since then grown to love the studio so much that I've purchased 4 class packages during the Holiday sale! I've only been to Power Vinyasa classes, but every single one has been the perfect balance of a great work out and a relaxing experience. It's the ideal class for when I don't want to go to the gym but also don't quite feel like Bikram. I love the variety of times on the schedule here--if I have something to do after work then I can go to the 9:15 PM class, and if not, 7:30 PM is perfect. Every teacher here walks around the room and gives hands-on pointers and corrections which I always appreciate. This studio is extremely popular so the classes can get very full, but this stopped bothering me after my first few classes. The only real gripe is that the locker room is very crowded, and the floors can get a little dirty since the "no shoes" area is ambiguous. read more

I really love yoga and when there are motivating teachers it is even more amazing. I purchased the groupon and I have grown to love the studio and the instructors. They have a water bottle filler, 2 bathrooms and 3 changing rooms. Parking isn't too bad for AM classes, but for late night classes it's a bit tougher to find. I am in love with this studio. I moved to Seattle at the end of last summer and have tried 5 or 6 studios close to me, Shefayoga takes the cake. Each teacher brings something different to the table, you are never bored or feel like you know what will happen next. My absolute favorite teacher is Michelle, when I leave her class my body always feels rejuvenated and beautiful from the inside out. If you are used to a large chain studio with all the fancy amenities you might feel that something is missing at Shefa- they have bathrooms and a changing area- but no showers or dyers etc. However, the quality of classes and teachers are beyond worth the smaller space. I would recommend this studio for any level, just get ready for some heat! read more

This is a great studio. Excellent accessible location. Great customer service. They get back to you super quickly. They have been doing in person classes since it was safe and allowed by the state. Their Covid protocol safety is really good I feel very safe there. They limit classes to eight people and everyone is very spread out. Fantastic hot yoga studio! When I moved to Seattle, I signed up for the 3 month Groupon and it was the best value ever! I happened upon a yoga studio that embodies all that is meaningful for me in my yoga practice - mind and body connection in equal measures within a supportive, kind community. The instructors are all top notch with each having their own unique teaching style to keep it mixed up and the studio itself is phenomenal. The early morning classes in the fall are incredible - you start in the dark and the room illuminates with the rising sun. We bought a house over by Green Lake Village and moved right as my Groupon expired. I made the mistake of trying another hot yoga studio an easier walking distance to my house and I find myself missing all of the instructors and the yogis I attended classes with at Shefayoga. (I was going on average 3 times per week) So I decided to invest in an annual pass with their holiday price deal and will go back to my "home" at the end of January, never to stray again!! :) read more

However, it pays to read carefully before buying anything on-line or by visiting the studio in person first. 95% of the classes here are heated. My mistake, but even the 'room temperature' classes (out of 2 a week) just don't have enough time for the studio to cool off before the class starts. Came here with a Group-on and was surprised to find a nice heated mostly vinyasa flow studio. Each teacher has their own style and each class is very unique. They have lockers to place your belongings in, changing rooms, and two bathrooms. Giving them 4 stars because there are no showers here and I so badly wish they had them! Its almost impossible to go here before work because of there are no showers. So, I often come after work if I have time. They do offer free hot tea and have a drinking fountain to fill your water bottles with. The studio itself isn't big and the room fills up fast so I recommend coming early. One wall is all mirrors, which is nice for self alignment. The parking can also be hard but come early and get free back street parking. read more

When you buy a Groupon deal, you sometimes get a mixed bag, but that wasn't the case here.... I was in the middle of a really terrible and depressing week, when my friend texted me and said "hey! We should go to this Power Vinyasa class...there's a Groupon." I'm weak and out of shape and had only eaten a piece of carrot cake and a glass of red wine in the past 24 hours...but I said ok anyway. We went to the Tuesday 4:30 class. Lately, I've not had a lot of hope or peace, but in that crowded warm studio, we were all led by this incredibly warm, vibrant, strong, beautiful woman through the poses. I never felt judged for being really terrible at yoga. I felt acceptance, an awareness of unlimited possibility, and peace....if only for an hour. I'll be back. read more

I came here today for opening day. It's in a very nice location in Roosevelt, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and other stores. It's new, so the interior is very nice and modern inside. Everyone working there was very friendly and kind and smiles :) There is a locker and changing room which is convenient. There is also one studio. I took a heated power vinyasa class with Leah. She is the owner of Shefayoga and was a very good instructor. I am not necessarily a beginner because I have been doing yoga for a while, but I am still not super good. She is really good about encouraging us to push ourselves but also making sure we respect our bodies by resting if it becomes too hard. I had a great workout. Sweat just the right amount (room is heated between 95-100 degrees) and left the studio feeling happy. The interior of the studio is a great size. I really like the design inside, with cute modern looking windows on the side and the fans on the ceiling. Also an added plus- there is a delicious vegetarian/vegan restaurant called Thrive really close by, so it was nice to eat there after yoga to finish off feeling healthy and clean! I am most likely, definitely, going to come back for more classes! read more

This is my all time favorite yoga studio.I start to babble whenever I talk about how much I like Shefa, so let's try a list: Location: About 2 blocks up from the Whole Foods in Roosevelt. Parking is available on the street, around the corner in the park and ride, or down by Whole Foods. Schedule: Convenient schedule with classes throughout the day. There are never two classes directly back to back, so you can arrive early or stay long in savasana, without ever feeling rushed. If you're picky about your spot in class, I would recommend arriving about 10 minutes early, especially for the evening classes which tend to be more full. Studio: Great space. Classes face the window in Vinyasa classes, and face the mirror in Hatha classes. Extra love for the padded floors (ie padding underneath the floor, like in a dance studio). Locker room can get crowded, but there are also benches in the lobby where you an leave your gear. Mats and towels are available for rent, and refrigerated water is available for purchase. Candles are always lit for class. Floors are discretely mopped in between all classes. I do wish showers were available in addition to the bathrooms and changing rooms, but it's not a deal breaker for me that they aren't. Instructors: The instructors really are what sets Shefa apart. They are all fantastic; they always come to class well prepared with unique sequencing and intentions for the class. Many seem to work off of a weekly theme or intention, and I always learn something new, be it an alignment adjustment, new pose, or new quote for me to meditate on. Fun sequencing and clear queuing are standard in Shefa classes, with lots of modifications made available. Some teachers offer more hands on adjustment than others, but all give you the option to discretely opt being touched if you choose. The instructors are all very open and welcoming, making sure that they have met every student at the beginning of class, and there's a really non competitive and non-judgemental vibe here. Spendy but quite worth the price I dare do say. My first hot yoga experience was horrendous moments of hallucinations and fear my death was to be in a ultra heated room wasn't already wan't hell. I had sworn off any future hot yoga ever. A year later my housemate coaxed me back into trying it. With scoliosis and consistent tense muscles, I was desperate and walked into my first class, and miraculously wasn't sweating out all my water weight. It was wonderfully warm, steady, and sweaty! The teacher was gentle and encouraging as we went through the poses. You're also welcome to take a step back and go into child's pose if ever it is too much. This is a wonderful addition to the Roosevelt hood as it steadily grows. I'd love it if they did offer some cheaper price points though. read more

I don't normally feel compelled to write reviews, but I've had a great experience at Shefayoga! I had been wanting to take a yoga class for a while, but felt completely intimidated by group classes and had only learned basic poses why practicing at home using apps. I felt like I'd stand out or wouldn't be able to do most the poses or I wouldn't know what they were or I'd just fall flat on my face, but none of those things have ever happened. All of the instructors at Shefayoga have been welcoming and I've never felt any judgement about being a newcomer to group yoga classes. I feel comfortable recommending any of the instructors to beginners since it's about working on what feels good to you. I've been attending classes at least twice a week for 5 weeks now and I absolutely feel stronger and hold less stress in my body. I also thought I'd hate that it was practiced in a warm room, but it's great when I want to wake up early in the morning and need that extra push to get out of bed for 6:30 classes. If you show up 15 minutes before, it's like taking a cozy mini nap before practice. I've been a few times when it's been almost completely full (beginning of the year, right?), but I haven't felt like I'm going to step on anyone. She has taught me to be kind and patient with my body and I have gained incredible strength and resiliency. All the instructors are amazing and help all levels achieve their best. I just started going to Shefayoga a couple of weeks ago. This is the second hot yoga studio I've been to in the Greenlake/Roosevelt neighborhood (where I live), and Shefayoga is heads and shoulders better than the first place I've been to. The front desk staff and instructors are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I have significant balance issues, but the instructors I've spoken to have given me helpful advice as to how I can modify the poses so that I can still participate in the flow of the class without toppling over every few seconds. The studio and the front area, have great aesthetics and ambience, and everything is sparkling clean. I love the fact there are benches out front purposely intended for socializing and relaxing before class, and there's free tea as well! Shefayoga provides a great all around experience, and I look forward to every session. Plus, I LOVE the fact there is an online reservation system!! read more

Shefayoga is the most amazing yoga studio I've ever been to. I've been going to classes here for years and the practice never gets old or stale. I view it as critical exercise for my mental health, as the teachers here all have such insightful, thoughtful, and therapeutic things to say. I've been making the trek from Ravenna up to Queen Anne in order to attend classes at Hauteyoga, so you can imagine my delight when the owner, Leah, opened a sister studio -- Shefayoga -- in my 'hood. I personally love the power vinyasa classes -- they are heated, but not insanely hot (e.g. Bikram-level), so you work up a great sweat but still feel like you can breathe (important when you're flowing through poses!). The instructors are fantastic, the yoga room is pristine, and there are plenty of class times to fit most schedules. One thing to note: There aren't different class levels, so all classes are accessible to every skill level. You can definitely up the intensity (instructors will offer more difficult variations), but this also means it isn't for the first-timer (they do offer an intro series at various times throughout the year -- if you're new to yoga, you should definitely take one of those series first!) In terms of instructors: I love Enid's Sunday morning power vinyasa (this class will challenge you), and Leah's power vinyasa (very good all around class) read more

I do Power Vinyasa with two or three different teachers (depending on when I can make it in). Each class is a little different, but all are wonderful. I always leave feeling energized, healthy, and strong. They offer 9:15PM classes which are great for me. I hadn't done yoga for years but the instruction is so clear that I was able to get through the first class pretty easily based on the instructor's thorough directions. I have only been to Shefayoga twice but I really enjoyed it. I am new to Yoga (unless you count group fitness type yoga at a health club) so I don't have much to compare it to. My physical therapist recommended I add it to my routine. The teachers were inspiring (Leah and Alexis), the space was clean and welcoming and the class was fun and challenging. Talk about high-tech! You reserve a class online which there's usually always room, then the site (also mobile friendly) sends you a calendar invite, helps me a ton with my crazy life. Additionally, you earn "points" for each class you go to and if you share on social media or refer a friend (genius). I'm competitive so it's hard for me to not blanket my social media with "check-ins". After a certain amount of points earned you get free stuff or discounts. I've gone to 2 classes thus far and the first one was mild but very pleasant, I almost thought it was a little too pleasant for my ambitious goal. However, I went to the Power sesh with Leah- Holy. moly.. I was a hot mess afterwards. Each style is complimentary to each other, a little something for everyone and every mood. Please note, it was a game changer for the morning class time. My work schedule is demanding, therefore, having a lot of class options was key. Shefayoga has a welcoming environment and great classes. Each teacher has his/her own unique style, pace, and vibe, so you can get a lot of different kinds of experiences out of going here! Parking easy at the Greenlake park&ride. Only downside to this studio in my opinion is that there is a mirror along one side of the studio. Most of the time we aren't facing the mirror, but when we are I find it harder to focus on my own practice/how it feels and find myself comparing how I look doing yoga to other people. read more

Such a lovely studio. The instructors are by far the best part about this studio. All the ladies are so friendly and well-versed in the principles of yoga. I'm in the middle of Sarah's chakra series & another instructor's sutra series, both of which expand your understanding of the mind-body connection & how it relates to yoga & life. This studio also plays a lot with inversions and balancing poses, which I very much appreciate. All in all this studio challenges me and keeps me grounded. Areas for improvement include adding showers and adding variety to your classes/times. read more
