This place is a legit seafood joint. Initially, we were about to go to Tasty Tail in Plano. Alas, once we got there, we found out it's "Cash Only" and between the two of us, we only had $20. So we decided to The Boiling Pots instead. On a Saturday evening, the place was pretty packed. Our waiter was pretty nice and friendly. But didn't offer to refill our drinks. Ordered snow crab combo, shrimp combo, onion rings and a basket of chicken tender/fries. Shrimp combo: big, plump, juicy shrimps. Maybe around 10-12 pieces. Snow crab combo: great. We got the mild sauce, as our kids don't eat spicy good. The sauce was great, but it was a tad on the salty side. Chicken tenders with fries: my goodness, their fries was excellent. I picked up one, not really hoping for anything. Only ordered this because we thought the kids might not want to eat the boiled stuff. Once in my mouth, "mm mm mm mmh", goodness gracious. The best fries I've eaten in a long time! Same with the chicken tenders. Didn't really hope for it to be good. But dang, this thing was stupendous! It wasn't dry and flat (most chicken tenders were made of breast meat, and I think breast meat are kinda dry). I think the batter on the fries and chicken tenders are excellent. Okay, so it's called Boiling Spot on Yelp and on the menu, the restaurant sign says Boiling Stop, and the entrance door says Boiling Pots?? This restaurant sure does have a lot of names haha Regardless of that name confusion, food was pretty delicious! I came here with some of my friends for my birthday lunch. I shared 1.5 lb of snow crabs, 2 lbs of crawfish, and a gumbo seafood soup with my boyfriend. There are 3 to 4 levels of spiciness you can choose from. We got the medium level, but it wasn't spicy at all; it tasted more like mild. If you are a fan of spicy food, I suggest you to get it medium spicy. Honorable mention goes to the cajun fries. They are perfectly crisped tossed with the right amount of spices. Great happy hour deals as well. I think happy hour deals are 3-6pm everyday. I had heard the crab legs were really good here which they were but nobody said anything about the lemon pepper wings. The wings were so good that my crab legs got cold. I was told that this place has amazing catfish, but they must have ran out before I got there. The seasoning was ok, but when I tell you this was the most overcooked fried fish I've ever encountered in my life, I exaggerate not. I wish I would have checked it before I went home because I definitely would have requested a redo. Half of the fish was inedible and the other half was barely digestible. Just not good at all. Wife and I were in the mood for some crawfish so we stopped by the Boiling Spot. While the crawfish and fries we ordered were very good, the service definitely lacked at the beginning and at the end. Once we were seated, we waited about ten minutes and no one came to take or drink or food order. I got up and spoke to the lady at the front who went and looked for our waitress. Once she came, we ordered our food and drinks. Throughout the meal, she was attentive and came by often, but once we asked for the check, she brought it by and then she never came back to get our card. After about 10 minutes again of waiting, we just walked up to the front to pay. So overall, while the service was so-so, the food was good and we were satisfied with our orders. Arrived on a Friday night. Wait was less than 20 minutes. Inside was quite spacious, service was great. We decided to get 4lbs of crawfish (spicy level). Also ordered a combination deal with crab legs, shrimp, potatoes and corn for $19.99. We also got a basket of fried catfish which came with 3 filets and a choice of Cajun fries or hush puppies. I'm always a sucker for fries especially Cajun fries when eating crawfish. For three people dining in, it was a feast but we got a chance to try a bit of everything. I'm on vacation and I've now eaten here twice. It's amazing seafood, I must say. People rave about the Boiling Crab, but I'm hearing this seasoning is better. I'm a true fiend for seafood and this is definitely a place to get your fix. The sauce is tomato based but I can't explain the other flavors. I just want to pour sauce on everything... I did actually. I'm not into spicy food, so the mild seasoning worked just great. I tried the Fried pickles, King crab, snow crab, mussels, shrimp, potatoes and corn. Went back after a while and noticed that they changed the name of the restaurant. As we walked in you could feel the negative change as the music and staff wasn't similar to our prior visits that brings down this restaurant. Food wasn't too bad but I agree with the most recent reviews that the service has completely gone downhill. Our order was wrong and at the end I had to walk up to the front to ask for my check as our server forgot to come by after we were done. I ordered the $50 combo but she brought out the $100 combo. I was going to speak to the server about this but saw that the $100 combo was actually a better deal that included a lot more like king crab, snow crab, shrimp, clam, and mussels so we decided to just keep the order. In the bag you could see that they cracked open any clams or mussels that didnt naturally open when they cooked them which was a turn off as it made me wonder about the quality of the rest of the seafood. There was a decent size king crab craw which was a positive but the other leg was soft and mushy and you could tell it wasn't the freshest. After this experience I unfortunately doubt we will be back as there are so many better options in the area. read more

My husband and I love Cajun sea food and have been to several places and this has been by far the best seafood Cajun place. We ordered gumbo for $6.99 and it was enough to share. We ordered a pound of snow crab , a pound of sausage and corn on medium spicy. My husband asked for gloves, which I laughed at first but by the end of the meal I was glad he had asked. The food took longer than I expected but gosh it was worth the wait, they definitely take their time to do an amazing boil, it's obviously not premade and it is full of flavor and definitely spicy. There was nothing good about this place. We went, party of 4. We arrived at 7pm. We were told that the last seating is at 720 and last order is 730pm. The posted sign said they closed at 930pm. There was 2 black girls working there, and both of them were so rude. They didn't smile, not ever said hi, thank you, you are welcome, nothing. When you asked for something, she just pointed, and we had to get it ourselves. Such a unpleasant experience. They have also turned away multiple customers, even asking for to go orders. This is my first time and I am impressed. Good food, good service, and good prices. You do have to pay for every little thing but not to big of a deal. Food: Good flavor, good quality, and when you say mild it means mild or not hot. I like that option. Cajun fries are good. Fried pickles are thick cut pickles so they are a little difficult to chew but good. Drink prices are good and even better at happy hour. Can't go wrong coming here. First time here & after reviewing all the previous reviews, felt prepared. Wait staff was adequate, place is very clean & music selection was great! If you order anything that is not fried, it comes out in a bag of marinade & if you can't get into getting 'down & dirty' with it, ask your server for a bib & gloves. My suggestions are to not do a combo; different seafood should cook in its own bag instead of combining & having some over cooked. Wine comes out in a single serve bottle with a styrofoam cup (yuck), they should at least have a plastic glass. Last, they don't offer anything to clean up with other than paper towels. Would be nice to get wet towels; otherwise you have to use the bathroom where you have to turn on the faucet with grimy hands & hand crank your towels out or blow dry. The only upside is that there isn't typically a wait whereas Boiling Crab usually always has a 2 hour wait during crawfish season. But honestly, I'd rather wait for Boiling Crab than eat at Boiling Pots. Where there's a wait, there's a reason... The crawfish here is pretty mediocre. The quality of the crawfish is so-so. The sauce...meh. I was not impressed. I am a huge fan of spicy food and when I asked for the spiciest (X-Hot) I was left underwhelmed. Fries are decent. Service was good though. Will I be back? Nice location. Seafood was good but not great. The spice levels are not spicy AT ALL. The seafood had way too much sauce and I didn't like the fact that the garlic was diced and not grinded up. The boiling pot in Plano Texas is definitely worth a visit. The food is delicious, especially the crab. The andouille sausage was also very good. My wife had potatoes and corn added to our combo and she really enjoyed them. The sauce is a basic red sauce and comes in a variety of degrees of hotness. After reading other reviews on this site, I decided to opt for medium spice and asked them to go lite on the garlic. That was a perfect idea! We had our nephews with us and they split a chicken tender basket. With beverages for all, the ticket was around $60, but we also had a Groupon for $25 (frankly, I had never heard of the place until I saw the Groupon). Like the other reviews, I would say it's very similar to what you might find at The BC. Taste is very similar, if not better, but you have the added benefit of no waiting! It is pretty much the same taste as the other popular seafood place, just different name for their flavors. Clean but if you catch them on days that they are short on staff, you could sit there for a good minute or so. However, I believe they are working on improving their service. My husband dropped me off as we were planning for me to order and he would be back shortly because he was going to make a quick run to the bank. I waited on the front bench in the lobby. This was far before their "closing" time of 9:30. As several people came in and left to get their "to go" food an employee told me I could not sit on the front bench and said I needed to leave. He said I needed to wait in the parking lot. He was black with dreadlocks and very rude. I called 5 times to get his name and they never answered the phone. I will NEVER eat there again. This is the best Cajun seafood joint in Dallas area and it's due to their West Coast Cajun sauce. Servers are excellent. It can get busy/hectic but you don't wait too long. Also, the fried food is good. Really like their fried catfish. I drive 45 minutes to get there and it's worth it. I usually get their sauce to go and I use it on grilled pork chops and redfish.
