The Blue Door is amazing. Erica and Will are amazing and the most attentive owners ever. They are a dynamic duo and couldn't be more inviting and helpful. I am a whiskey nerd and Will's knowledge and selection is one of the best in Midland. Do yourself a favor and stop in. read more

The Blue Door - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Midland, Texas

Blue Door is hands-down one of the best spots in town for a drink. Their craft cocktails are incredible, creative, and consistently excellent. The craft beer selection is just as strong, with plenty of great options on rotation. What really sets this place apart is how much they care about their community and their staff. They actively encourage their own employees to create original cocktails and even feature those drinks right on the menu next to the bartender's name. It's a small touch that shows how much they value the people who work there, and it keeps the cocktail list fresh and personal. They've also done a fantastic job expanding people's palates when it comes to tequila. Whether you're a longtime fan or someone who's just starting to explore it, they make it approachable and exciting. I'll always recommend Blue Door to anyone looking for a great beverage. And if you're not drinking or taking a break, don't skip them. Ask about their mocktails. The lineup is just as thoughtful and impressive as everything else they do. Truly a place that loves its community and its people. Highly recommend. read more

My wife and I started going to the Blue Door the first day they opened their doors! Over the years, we became "regulars." We have attended events (tastings, holiday parties, ....), celebrated milestones (kids 21st birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, ....) and simply stopped in for MANY happy hours. We have made many friends and always enjoyed our time at the BD. Erica and Will always greet us warmly and all the staff (past and present) have been nothing short of amazing. Cheers! read more

This place used to be one of my favorites for years but the owners boyfriend is ruining it. He loves to ask women how often their husbands have had inter course with them and or to join him in threesomes. He makes everyone uncomfortable and we will not be going back sadly. read more

What isn't to like about the blue door? Phenomenal service and fantastic cocktails. The crew they have there know what they're doing. Beer recs? They have it. Not a sweet cocktail person? They can do that also. From wine to craft beer, I can't recommend these guys/gals enough. read more

Every drink was wonderful. I'm not a big drinker but I told them what I normally like and they were super helpful. Apparently the espresso martinis were awesome. I just don't do a lot of coffee. I was also impressed with their mocktails. So delicious didn't feel like I was missing anything honestly. I also love that you can order food from the restaurants next door such a convenient addition we weren't expecting. read more

Nice west side bar. Anything more than call drinks are hit and miss on quality. As is the service. Been there and it's been great. And ended up heading somewhere else due to no service. But will go back. read more

Such a nice, relaxed atmosphere for a cold drink. The owner is on-hand yo make sure everything is running smoothly and the staff are always friendly. Two thumbs up! read more

This is one of the most high-end bars in Midland. If you looking to have a happy hour with girls friends or after dinner drinks on date night, this is a great place to go. They have seasonal cocktails, happy hours specials, and partner with the Mexican restaurant next door for a few dinner options. This is my favorite bar in Midland, and though it's a little pricey, the quality never disappoints. The service by far is the best out of all the bars in Midland. I love this place and hope to see it continue to thrive. read more

The Blue Door - Oh captain, my captain drink - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Midland, Texas

Very nice place! The inside is big and open with lots of seating. The atmosphere is laid back, it can get noisy but usually the noise level isn't too bad. Every experience here has been relaxed and comfortable. Every member of the staff that I've dealt with has been helpful, attentive, and very friendly. I'm a beer fan, and The Blue Door always has a good selection of beers to choose from. It would be even better if they had a few on tap. I usually stick to beer, but the mixed drinks I have tried here have been fantastic! A great staff, a nice selection of drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere make this a fantastic place to get together for a good time. read more

This is my second trip here this time it was a great experience all around. Got greeted right away, and the drink I got was French tonic, the ingredients are Farmers Gin, Lille Blanc, and elderflower tonic with mint and strawberries,I recommend this drink if you want a refreshing I worked all day and want to relax cocktail. I was going to another cocktail but they only have ice ball drinks with tequila and mezcal, if they had a vodka or whiskey version I would have ordered another drink, since what I wanted wasn't available I called it a night, some people who like an option other than tequila or Mezcal may make the same decision. Other that detail Great job Blue Door I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great cocktail. 1st visit I was I found his place, it was a good find. I was spending one night in Midland and wanted a cool cocktail lounge to try some to concoctions. They had a good variety and selection. I would give 4 stars but I saw the male bartenders walk by me twice to help some ladies that had arrived after me. The female bartender asked what the guy next to me wanted right we he sat down. So that shows there is no consistency in service. All patrons should be greeted within 30-45 seconds of sitting down, even if it is saying I will be right with welcome to (insert establishment). I saw this on bar rescue on TV all customers should feel like VIP. This was about a half full bar on Sat at 8:30pm. The female bartender gave excellent service and asked if I wanted another drink when my drink was near gone. This is exactly how it should be done. I will try to make it back to see if they can get a fourth star. Don't let this review keep you from coming here I think this is a four star place but I had a 3 star experience as I walked in and sat down I waited about 4 -5minutes before they asked if I wanted a drink. read more

Cool hangout spot. A different flavor then most bars in Midland which for me is nice. I usually enjoy their Whiskey or Beer collection.

Incredible place, service is excellent, drinks are well prepared, atmosphere is delightful

By far my favorite bar in Midland! Staff is always friendly, they have a decent happy hour, the drinks are always mixed well and delicious, and they give you pretzels and warm peanuts to snack on. We've gone a few Saturdays dying happy hour, 4p-7p, and there aren't many customers. The place has dim lighting and is a bit romantic, but the decor is very chic and modern. It hasn't been crowded when we've gone and the atmosphere is very chill! read more

Waited awhile for a server to even come take a drink order....then drinks are not that good and they serve drinks in a very small glass for $10-$15. Im all for $10 drinks but please give us a little more than such a tiny glass that takes 2 sips to suck it down. read more

We are at the Blue Door, they are not busy. It took 20 minutes to get a server. We ordered drinks got them. When it came time for round 2 we had to go find management. We told him about the lack of service & he was very unapologetic & pretty snide. We do not recommend this place if you want decent service read more

Nice bar in West Texas, I was glad I was invited here by a group of friends, we had a good time hanging out, enjoyed really good high quality, well prepared cocktails. Pricing is up there if you were planning on getting drunk it will cost you to get wasted over here that is for sure!! The interior of this place is neatly decorated and the music is good as well. The service was above average, hence my four star rating. Parking is no problem, the business hours are ok. I recommend this place, and would look forward to come back for another round, try other things, and gain another experience. read more

The Blue Door offers superior customer service and the best cocktails I've had. The staff go above and beyond for their customers, ensuring that their Blue Door experience is memorable. They are helpful and considerate. Their cocktails are carefully crafted, and they have the best happy hour deals in West Texas. The entire staff is knowledgeable, and they've been trained well to know so much. They know their beers, wine, and liquors. You will feel like family after going in just a few times. Which is one of the many reasons that they have so many regulars. Also, I should add that the staff will help find you the perfect drink. The environment is gorgeous. Great ambience, laid-back crowd, and the entire vibe is relaxing. The establishment is beautiful. It's the perfect place to go for a girls night or on a date. It is classy yet laid-back. I had the opportunity to work there for two years, and I learned so much. I am not biased, but it's the best bar to work at. I've taken so many skills with me that have been applicable to other gigs. Even outside of the service industry. And from working there, I can verify how much work and heart goes into this place, and how much the staff cares for quality and the customers. Try the old fashioned at happy hour Tues-Sat from 4-7. Five bucks for the best Old Fashioned that you have had yet. Also the menu changes quarterly, featuring delicately crafted signature and curated cocktails. But don't worry, the old fashioned will be there forever. read more

I've only been here a few times for Young Professionals of Midland mixers and I've enjoyed the time I've spent on the back patio, but it is still a upper-scale bar. I feel like it be a great place to go for drinks after a fancy dinner date. It's not so much as a clique place as it is an intimate bar. I only give it 4 stars as it's not my scene what so ever and would only go because of YPM. But if an upscale, intimate setting, dark lighting, martini mixing bar is your scene, then I sure hope y'all enjoy the Blue Door. read more

Amazing decor, great friendly staff. here! Drinks are generously poured by friendly bartenders, and decent prices. Definitely worth a visit!

I have stopped here a few times over the last couple of years. Staff is on top of their game, and service is excellent. I am more if an IPA drinker, but with the attention to detail to the cocktails, I see mixed and concocted while I am sitting at the bar makes me want to reconsider my choice of libation. Always a nice couple of hours after work. Chuck read more

While visiting my parents in Midland we decided to stop by Blue Door for pre-dinner cocktails. I think the atmosphere is something unique and fun for Midland (simple, haute, hip) and the cocktails range from fun, funky, fresh and elegant. If you like whiskey or scotch you will adore their extensive selection. Because it was a beautiful winter day we sat outside (boy, is this fun to say when you are from Chicago - outside in winter) on their patio with heaters, but the inside looked very chill and hip and I would have enjoyed that too. We arrived around 4:30 pm and they were hopping! As I mentioned we sat outside to enjoy the weather. There were a few large tables coming in and the staff seemed a little rushed and hectic (which we soon found out many staff had not made it in due to the flu that has been going around and they were short staffed). We ordered a bourbon on the rocks, martini and a whiskey sour which took quite a while to receive but the server apologized profusely and comped our drinks (!). Not long after that the manager, or owner, came by to apologize for our delay (of which we hardly noticed) and welcomed us. What a completely refreshing and genuine display of hospitality we received! We only stayed for our one cocktail because we had reservations but I left with a smile on my face. Blue Door gets two thumbs up in my book for inventive cocktails, a sleek atmosphere and genuine Texas hospitality. read more

As someone who grew up in Midland (1988-2006), I was greatly surprised to hear that a cocktail bar opened not only in town, but within walking distance of my parents' house (not that anyone in Midland ever walks anywhere). I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I went to the Blue Door, but after visiting the bar several times over the past couple of holiday seasons, I've been impressed with my experiences there. The Blue door is clearly trying to cultivate an atmosphere that is relatively upscale while still being relaxed and warm. As some critical reviews pointed out, they don't serve shots at all. While this may be a little harsh, it makes sense to me. There are nice bars that serve shots without the place degenerating into a Senor Frogs, but in Midland, I wouldn't chance it. The cocktails at The Blue Door are quite good, albeit overpriced (I live in the Bay Area in California and you can get an old fashioned of commensurate quality here for a lower price). I do appreciate how they make their own bitters though. The beer situation is kind of unusual. While they offer an extensive selection of craft beers in bottles or cans, they do not have any beers on tap. I wonder what the reason for this is. Also, $7 for beer in a can is crazy. Again, I say this as someone who currently lives in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. I do not recall seeing any wine listed on the menu, nor do I remember seeing anyone drinking wine, so I can't really say anything about that. It was interesting to see the variety of people at the bar. In most cities that I've lived in, there are generally separate bars for college students, young professionals, and middle aged adults, so I liked how The Blue Door has all groups of people hanging out together. Lastly, the service that I've had at The Blue Door has been really good every time I've been there. Overall, this is a fun bar and my go-to hangout spot for when I visit Midland. read more

Hands down, this is the classiest place to go grab a drink in Midland. The craft beer selection is pretty solid, but what you really want to go for are the cocktails. Their bartenders are very knowledgeable of their liquor. It's a bit of a price hike from most places around, but you're paying for the ambience and quality of the beverages. Your crowd will be on the pretentious side, but you don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to. Just take your group of friends and have a good time. read more

I really love the ambiance and their bottled beer selection is pretty good. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the employees seem to be very knowledgable about their products. A knowledgable staff is always great when you are looking to try some new beers. The wine list is a bit small, but it is organized well and my fiancee thoroughly enjoys the Malbec they offer. We haven't tried any of their mixed drinks, so I can't comment on those, but over all this is a nice and relatively quiet bar to relax and have a few drinks. read more

New to town, The Blue Door is the real deal. I have also been to the other craft cocktail lounge in Midland/Odessa and they are so high on themselves the place is oxygen deprived, the staff hallucinates that being a snotty hipster bartender stills works on adults in Texas or nearly anywhere for that matter. The Blue Door is up scale but unpretentiousness it is a credit to craft bars. The staff is top notch and pleasant. The beer selection is awesome and covers breweries from coast to coast. The Cocktails are honest and creative. I'm beyond happy that I found The Blue Door upon moving here, made the transition much nicer. read more
