I live by one moral in life, never eat at a restaurant with the e missing. We should have stuck with our gut when we saw three stars. The food was subpar to inedible. The prime rib was ok. When the waitress says the only fresh vegetables are in the coleslaw you know it's sure to be good. The wait staff though was nothing but awesome, we just wished the food was better. Cool bar & great live performance from locals. But the bartender AL was so rude & passive aggressive especially to people who aren't locals he smiles in your face but judges you for being out of town. We stopped by the Blu Pig after visiting Arches. I chose it because they had fried catfish on the menu (I'm from the south and miss catfish)! The menu had a wide array of options, including lots of non-BBQ dishes. The foot-long mozzarella sticks were okay, 3/5. The catfish was very good, as was the fried okra (!!!) and sweet potato I got on the side. My party got brisket and pulled pork and also enjoyed their meals. Decided to stop by before heading back to California. The food was good. I wouldn't say there was anything special about it. I'd say it was the typical BBQ place. My husband got the 3 choice BBQ combo, and I got the wings. Wings needed a bit more buffalo sauce, which seemed a little dry, but still, the sauce still had good flavor, and the wings were cooked just right. My husband's Margarita was good, and I had the strawberry lemon. I do love the fact that they do allow dogs out in the patio. It's sometimes hard to find a place to eat with your dog. Also, I did notice that in front of this place, on the street there was a big rig parked, so if any truck drivers are looking for a good place to eat that isn't a subway or a Wendy's, I highly recommend stopping by. read more

Friend of mine suggested the wings here; and, yes they were spot-on! Buttery style sauce that was very tasty and the heat was subtle. Service was good too (until the relief bartender came to work and did nothing but complain; customers don't want to hear about your gripes - star deducted for that reason). This is a solid spot to eat when in Moab!! Great pulled pork, giant list of beers to choose from, awesome sides (we had Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries - highly recommend) and pretty tasty smoked chicken wings - we had the garlic buffalo and Cajun sauces. They were out of pig wings when we arrived which was a bummer because I'm sure they're just as awesome as the rest of the items on the menu. We sat in the bar area, appropriately spaced apart from others. Everything right away was clean, smelled clean, servers are wearing masks and gloves, and they are 100% following the new COVID regulations. We were told they have been open since May 1st so they are ready to go and want to serve you the best they can. The staff was so friendly and happy to be back at work. We loved our waiter and he had the best recommendations. A little off the main strip but a big patio and large indoor seating area with cold beer, good BBQ, and lively atmosphere. After touring the Arches NP, we went to Moab for dinner. My wife ordered a half rack of ribs and I had the Cajun catfish dinner. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone style with a light sweet glaze, but there was no rub, heat, and was unseasoned with salt. Very bland! My catfish was perfectly fried with a lightly coated corn meal batter, but once again, there was no Cajun spice or seasoning in the coating. In summary, good quality ingredients with nicely sized portions, but food was unseasoned and way overpriced! I'm used to paying about $22 for a half rack BBQ rib dinner - this was $37! read more

My party came in late on a Saturday night and the food can be summarized as bland, flavorless, unseasoned, etc. So let me start off by saying the staff were kind and our waitress was attentive and super accommodating. We sat outside because we had our dog with us and she bought out a bowl of water for him! But going back to the food...*sigh*. I ordered the fried catfish with a side of french fries and their version of cheesy mashed potatoes for roughly $30. Was NOT worth it. The catfish can be described as just that, fried fish. I didn't even get halfway through the potatoes because it had so much sour cream in it. The rest of the table ordered a brisket sandwich with various sides and the meat was blaaaand. I ordered brisket at the Blu Pig on my visit to Moab today. First thing I noticed when I got my plate was that the brisket resembled a few long slices of pot roast. No smoke ring. Fatty. I asked for lean brisket. I got what looked like pot roast. It was inedible--and I do like pot roast. No smoke taste, bland, mouth feel was just ew, and just not at all what I expected from a BBQ joint. Super disappointed as this was our first meal for lunch on our arrival into town today. We went here during a stay in Moab in hope for some BBQ food. In general the food was not bad but not great either. Mostly lukewarm and I would bet money on the baked beans being Bushes's grillin' beans from the supermarket. What was pretty bad was the how expensive this place is. October 2023 marks our third visit to the Blu Pig. Our first was way back in 2011 when we had two fussy little boys with us. Back then the food, the staff, and the prices were a highlight of our trip. In 2023 we came back to find the service friendly, but the prices and food quality nothing to write home about. I know meat prices are insane right now, but the prices for entrees are what we pay for good Lockhart, TX BBQ. The food we were served was decidedly not worth the price. Maybe we're just BBQ snobs, but the burnt ends were rock hard, the brisket just "OK", and the cornbread was dreadful. We did like the hush puppies, though. We will not go back. read more

I've driven past this place many times but finally had time today to stop and try it. The ribs were ok, a little dry for me, but good flavor. Mac wasn't too great. Beans and muffin were good. My server seemed annoyed at having me interrupt his late afternoon. But overall it was a good place. Ambiance was a bit more on the bar side. Second stop on our great southwest adventure is Moab, UT. The Blue Pig is next to our hotel so we gave it a try. I usually get brisket at a new BBQ joint because it is technically the most difficult but the reviews suggested the ribs were good so I got them. I cook ribs often when I cater Veterans events so I am pretty picky. I got the 1/2 rack for $23.95 with onion rings and side salad. The ribs were quite good, one of the best I have ever eaten. Moist with mild smoke and bark. The 3 sauces were good too. I deducted a star for the pricey drinks and slightly pricey entrees. After reading some of the bad reviews I was not looking forward to our family dinner being here AT ALL. The two burgers I did try were actually delicious and if you like red meat I would recommend the burnt end burger over the tri tip one. (Unfortunately I only have a picture of the tri tip) Service is short but friendly enough. The inside looks atrocious though, the blue lighting just makes it too dim as they try to play off the name but sitting outside makes it more bearable. So disappointing. For one thing, the customer service was really poor. I had a to go order, arrived to the restaurant actually 10 minutes after the designated pickup time. No one in the front area. Waited about 5 minutes for a host to arrive who said they would check on my order for me. Waited another ten minutes sitting in the lobby, host didn't come back. Kept sitting and finally a different server asked if he could help me and then went to go check behind a different counter where he found my food sitting. It was cold by the time I got it. Turkey had good flavor but was dry. Pork was dry and had absolutely no flavor at all. Mac and cheese was fine- seemed like it was out of the box. I wouldn't even call the food average. Our first day in Moab after hiking all day and we were hungryyyyy!  Yelp brought us here but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing.  We ordered take out and it was ready in 10-15 minutes.  We got the large tri tip combo and a large brisket combo.  Our hotel was only a few minutes away and we couldn't wait to gorge into our dinner.  We were pretty bummed all the meat was dry and chewy. For spending close to $60 after tax and tips we definitely expected more.  The only life saver somewhat were the sides that came with the combos. We got the onion rings, sweet potato, mac & cheese and potato salad.  I'm not sure if it's just not as good as take-out, but we definitely had better BBQs. read more

We went to this restaurant the last time we were in Moab and it was absolutely delicious. This visit not so much! It was crowded so we had a wait. When we were seated our server Dylan came over to take our drink orders. He returned to take our dinner order and we never saw him again! When the food was brought he never explained the different Bbq sauces, another server did. He never asked if dinner was good, if we wanted another drink, if we wanted dessert. He was actually one of the worst servers I think we've ever had! As far as the food goes. I ordered a combination platter. It had pulled pork and brisket. It was a tiny serving of pork which was ok and the brisket was very dry. They served a corn muffin but I took one bite because it was extremely dry and my terrible server Dylan didn't bring any butter which may have helped! So I am staying the La Quinta in Moab, UT and the Blu Pig BBQ restaurant is just a stroll across the parking lot. Went there for lunch and dinner over 2 days and it's pretty good. Had a really nice BBQ sandwich for lunch and had delicious burnt tips with fried okra and potato salad for dinner. Really good. On our last night in Moab, my friend and I decided to grab dinner with some live music at the Blu Pig. Surprisingly, the place was really busy for a weeknight; and we discovered there was a 20-minute wait to be seated. (Pro tip: No kids? Head to the bar in back; there's table service, less folks during the dinner hour...and that's where the music is). Bottom line: we enjoyed our time here, discovering yet another place we should have visited earlier in our trip. Good food (I had an excellent catfish po-boy), decent vibe (if a bit crowded); And a great beer list. My only complaint was the service, which was a bit spotty, partly because one of the bartenders was new. We also enjoyed good music. Though the Blu Pig typically features blues, our night's entertainment was man & woman duo covering roots rock and folk songs. Not my core music genre, but they were really good, so we lingered a little after finishing our dinner. If we didn't have an early drive the next morning, we would have stayed longer. I loved the mustard bbq sauce and my husband was a fan of the classic. Potato salad was like I make which made me really happy since I'm a bit picky about potato salad. I've never liked hushpuppies but these were pretty darned good. I happened to eat half of our order which probably didn't make my husband too happy - he thought they were all his. Also ordered the So Co Peach Cobbler for my birthday dessert with a scoop of huckleberry ice cream.....yeah, we didn't love the cobbler. Sorry to say. Ordered a shot of something from their special drink menu...Rumchata...cinnamon whiskey (not Fireball). I'm a big fan of cinnamon toast crunch shots but this tasted different. My wife and I had a long day visiting Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We pulled up to The Blu Pig restaurant dusty, tired, and hungry. They found us a table and jotted down our order within five minutes. After looking over the menu, I had to order the fried catfish po'boy sandwich with thick onion rings. The catfish fillets were thick and paired perfectly with the ancho-chile mayo and pickle, onion tomato, and lettuce. I loved the crispy golden coating on the extra thick onion rings. This was only $15.95! I paired this with a local beer called Squatters Hazy IPA at 5%. They went together wonderfully and we ended up buying a six pack of that beer at the local gas station. Even though this restaurant looks a bit touristy on the outside, it has authentically good food inside. read more

The visit didn't start off well. We were seated and forgotten for about 15 minutes while we watched 3 other tables be seated and drink orders taken and filled. Next we had to ask for silverware and one of the sides was forgotten. Food: pulled pork was okay but not great and Cajun sausage was plain sausage with a spicy sauce. We waited to be seated, then waited 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and get WATER. And it was not that busy. My jalapeño margarita was gross. It was as if they put a few pickled jalapeños from a jar in and poured the juice in as well. That said, my pulled pork sandwich was delicious, as were the onion rings.
