The service was horrible! We sat at our table and felt ignored for quite awhile before we were acknowledged, almost walked out. During dinner, they didn't bring me the cornbread which always goes with bbq. The food, I got the brisket and rib combo and both meats were dry. The onion rings were ok, but the best thing I had was the side of white cheddar Mac and cheese. I wish I could have just had a bowl of that instead. Our waiter never came by and asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks either. I'm not going to ask for a refill when it's good customer service to do your job correctly if they're working for tips. Then we had to ask a table busser where we pay? Ordered a Martini and this is what I received. I don't know if the bartender was in a rush or just didn't like me for some reason but never in my life have I received a martini like this. Walked out - horrible and $$$$$$$ Used to go here whenever I visited Moab. Tried it again. Took a LOT of work to even get seated, considering I was alone, there were LOTS of open tables, but the hostess had to go through all sorts of unnecessary actions to even decide where to seat me. Food was awful. Brisket was very fatty with absolutely no flavor. I don't know how meat can be smoked for 12 hours and not have any smokiness to it. Decent Burger. Went into the joint specifically for Ribs. The board at front was not updated to indicate they were out of ribs for the day. Placed order then waitress came back and shared they were out. Felt a bit shady. Paid at the table with a mobile card reader from the waitress. She picked 20% gratuity for me as she knew I was disappointed and didn't want to get a lower tip then stared at me to see if I would change it to something lower. I didn't. Just be careful. Where to start? The food was ok at best, honestly fast food style bbq. It's way overpriced but for the area, it's about what you'd expect. The service was subpar. Our waiter was slow and at times disorganized. Gumbo came out half way through the meal. The hostess was a grump and should not be at the front of the restaurant. I didn't have any trouble but I heard the way she spoke to others and about people, goodness. Now here comes the real problem. We got the bill and our waiter asked if we wanted to pay by card or cash. I paid by cash and gave him a 100. He returned with the correct change, we left a $12 tip (which was 20%) and walked out. The next day I got a call from the owner claiming I only left $13 and I needed to come in and pay the rest of the bill. I'm still trying to figure out how he got my number. I ignored the call, and I won't be back for damm sure. Get a receipt if you eat here, which I wouldn't recommend eating here. There are cameras all over the place so it should be easy to see me paying the 100 bucks and getting the change. The food is horrid. My wife and I went in and ordered the baby back ribs. They were so tough that it cut and tasted like an old smoked horse. Since we were staying in a hotel the next door we decided to go back the next night and just get a burger and the pulled pork sandwitch. The burger was nuked and the pulled pork sandwitch has slabs in it. I had to get a steak knife to slice through the chunks. AND the flavor was bad. The Jack and Coke was good though. I do hate giving bad reviews but I will if I feel it's necessary. The food was fine, nothing special but I've had worse. The service was as bad as I have experienced in a long time. Granted we had six adults and three children but that should warrant the same if not better service. It took an hour to get drinks. We got our appetizers with dinner which was another 30 minutes after drinks. I asked for a second beer when my first one was half empty because I thought it might take a while. I had to ask a second time because it never came. Too bad it didn't need to happen like this. BTW the server blamed it on everything but herself. We enjoyed our meal at Blu Pig so much we went back the next day! My kid had the pork tacos and ate every bite. I ordered a bunch of side items as a sampler and it was all so good! My husband had burnt ends and wants to drive back 5 hours to get them again (not happening). Visiting from Chicago and was recommended this spot by locals. I ordered the half slab of ribs that rung me up over $34. My sides and the ribs came slightly cold. My 2 friends ordered the bbq platter, we were later informed they ran out of brisket in which they ordered... they added a different meat in replacement of the brisket which they failed to bring out correct and brought different meats on my friends plates. We didn't want to complain further and we made the best of our cold meals once we got our utensils and "corrected" dishes that were still cold. We're never the type to complain but we didn't even receive an apology nor did our bill reflect their mistakes tonight. This is one of the best BBQ places I've ever eaten at. Historically, every BBQ place I've ever eaten at has been disappointing but The Blu Pig is AMAZING! Everything you would want in BBQ, huge portions, awesome sides, and friendly service. Live music every night, although we weren't here for that. Out of our 5 night stay in Moab we went here twice and are trying to figure out if we can order on the way out of town to have another awesome meal on the road. Highly recommend!! I received a recommendation for the Blu Pig from a fellow hiker at Arches National Park. It was a great way to conclude my day trip to Arches from Grand Junction, CO. The BBQ stood up to my taste test but I think nothing can beat good Carolina BBQ. Their pulled pork was not dry and their tri-tip was done well. The bar area was self-seating when I came in. My server was Liza. Although the time between server check-ins was longer than I'd like, the food and drink was worth it. I chose their Dark Lager for my beer. It drinks like a Guinness in my opinion. The musician playing the night I went set up as I was wrapping up. I'm not the biggest fan of blues but it was a great way to end my trip. The catfish was quite good, and they served a generous portion of it! Next I ordered the BBQ combo platter with brisket, burnt ends and pulled pork. The brisket had a nice fatty cap, the burnt ends were tasty, but nothing was special about the pulled pork. The platter came with two sides, so I chose a double serving of gumbo, which was good, no complaints. The food was good, but a bit pricey. read more

Food: interesting finding gumbo in Utah, but it has a flair! I am part cajun, and can say it is an interesting version. B+ for execution and effort. Brisket (sandwich) is tender and subtly smoked. Solid B. Burnt ends (sandwich again) is a no. Too squishy- but it is more tender to eat theirs as a sandwich. C+ Sweet Potato fries are mediocre.
