No complaints but not wowed. BBQ is good. Higher priced than I thought food and draft beer should be priced here.

No No. No! Do not go here. Do not be tempted to stop at what is one of the first brightly lit, seemingly local, places as you come into Moab proper. To be fair I am not sure why my expectations were so high. I, for some reason, get excited at the potential of having legit BBQ in the Rocky Moutnain States (pssst.... it doesn't exist). Instead we got a couple of extremely overpriced plates ($15-20/ plate) of nothing special paired with some awesome $7.50 bottled beers - again this could have been us being dumb seeing as how Moab is essentially Touristville. In a relatively empty restaurant we were seated all the way in the back in a little corner two top where the surrounding walls looked like they had been cobbled together by a team of apprentice kindergarten construction workers. Of the three signature BBQ sauces there was not one that wasn't way too sweet and the hottest one wasn't spicy hot in the least. Our server/ the service was passable. If anything I just felt bad for the guy who basically had to talk up the BBQ as if it was real BBQ. Next time we're through Moab I will drive past the Blue Pig, shake my fist in disgust, and remember the time I was tricked into stopping there. Darn you, Blue Pig! read more

Nice place for some good bbq. Our server was very friendly. They have a wide variety of beer and even have suggestions of dinner pairings. The ribs were falling off the bone and the sauces they had were delicious. We ordered fries, cheesy potatoes, hush puppies and mashed potatoes for sides- all were delicious. If you are in the area and in the mood for bbq I would recommend this place. read more

Wow. We have come through Moab every year and were really pleased to see this restaurant come to town. As a southerner o was worried that the bbq would be inauthentic. It was fabulous and the service was superb. Melena was charming and fast and gave us good advice on menu choices. No need to deal with so so food and snarly service at Pasta Jays or other Moab standards. Blue Pig is the real deal. And after living in Texas and Oklahoma for twenty years, I disagree w/Mackenzie that it's not "real BBQ." Utah folks CAN make good BBQ and they do at the Blue Pig. We'll be back. read more

Gruel. We ordered pulled pork, and two sides. The beans and rice had no rice. The corn muffins were a pile of crumbled bits before we took a bite. The server with his groovy hair and smile was fine, but this place has no sensibility about how to serve plates that look appetizing, let alone pull off being delicious once you get past the placid plating. The pile of pulled meat was simply plopped on the ungarnished plate like a prison platter at the pen. Non-descript bottles of various sauce sat idle nearby, mocking us to try them all until we found one we liked-which we didn't. No help with a label or info from the server. For the prices they charge, you'd expect much more in terms of a dining experience. But, if you just busted out somewhere, or have a hog that needs slopping, feel free to pull your mule up and plop your cheeks down on a savory BBQ splattered stool and dig in. BYOB (bib) as the trough style ploop of poop they put in front of you might be best suited for one on all fours. read more

Best service I had during my stay in Moab.

Decent food, great service. This wasn't our first choice (we wanted to hit the Moab Brewery, but it was slammed at 4:45PM on a Monday) but it certainly worked as a back up. The pulled pork definitely didn't have very smoky / "bark" characteristics but it was very tender( we do a lot of pork shoulder at home on the smoker, so I feel like I have something to compare to!). Kids meals were a pretty good value (big portions). Not a bad spot to try if you're in the area! read more

Friendly staff and decent food. Great place to watch a football game. Happy that it was open during off season too since the Moab Brewery was closed. BBQ is tasty, the mac and cheese is yummy, but skip the beans and the potato salad. Love that they have multiple kinds of barbecue sauce at the table for you to try with your meats. Gotta have the pulled pork tho, it is the best of the meats we tried (ribs, brisket, pulled pork). If you have room for dessert, have the dutch apple pie a la mode. Very tasty! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Blu Pig, and the 10% off deal for La Quinta Inn customers was a plus! When one of us didn't care for the coleslaw and asked for a different side (fully anticipating on paying for it) our waitress brought out an alternate free of charge. She was really great! Saturday night dinner, drinks, and the Utes vs Buffs football game. Sat in the bar. Not too many interested in the game. It was a struggle to get the game on and when it was I think there was only one other couple watching. Had a three meat sampler; turkey, brisket, and pulled pork. The turkey was the best, smoky and juicy. Brisket was meaty, just the right amount of fat. Pulled pork was decent. Fries were soggy (ugh), coleslaw was tasty, and an extra side of gumbo was delicious. Service was ok, nothing special. Would I eat there again, not necessarily.... read more

A group of 18 of us were down in Moab over New Years celebrating my birthday. We had stopped at Blu Pig for our last evening in Moab and were treated horribly. The winter is a slower season in Moab and the restaurant was by no means crowded but as soon as our group walked in the staff became so flustered and hostile towards us. They were unable to find room for us in the main dining area so they asked if we all had our ID's so they could seat us in the bar. We said that we did so they began setting up the tables but then we realized we had someone under 21 (he was the cousin of a friend and no one knew he was only 20). When we told the hostess she went into the kitchen, which is around the corner within ears distance and began talking crap. We could hear the staff making extremely rude comments about us without even trying to be discrete. Right then we decided to leave. I am not going to give my business to a restaurant that can't accommodate a group of 18 people and allows their staff to act the way they did. We talked to the manager before we left and he was just as bad as the rest of the staff. Give your business to someone else in town. read more

Last year I would have given this place two stars, it was pretty awful. But I decided to give it another shot after a client recommended it, I was not disappointed this time. I got a half rack of dry ribs, which needed no sauce. Very flavorful and falling off the bone. I can eat a lot and I could only finish half of the half, you get a ton of meat. I was with a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed it very much. The service was decent, a little slow but not bad. I'll be back next year for sure! read more

After being turned away by fancier fare in town (they seemed insulted that we even suggested we could walk in and eat without a reservation) found the Blu at the end of the strip. Looked like a contrived/urban BBQ restaurant but they take their food seriously; great quality along with laid back fun atmosphere. Side dishes are not overlooked and done well. Though wife did not like her meal my tri tips were perfect. When server saw wife not eating too much, proactively offered something else or full refund. Additionally he was attentive and gracious start to finish for our meal. Extensive food and drink menu. They have a dining bar great if you dine alone. Baseball caps and casual is dress code though dressed up would not be out of place. read more

Maybe we were here on a bad night. I don't know how a restaurant and "blues" club could provide such a horrendous experience without trying hard to be this awful. Let's start with the food. The highlight of the meal was the delicious corn muffins with cinnamon butter. From that point it was straight downhill. Wife and I tried the baby back ribs, dry rubbed instead of floating in bbq sauce. Problem was, the meat was so over cooked that all flavor was gone and it turned into a dry paste in your mouth that was very harddresse to swallow. The three sauces at the table didn't seem to help. Creating a sauce with this little taste and spice must have taken a lot of effort. Okay, the meal was horrendous, but, as serious blues fans, we were really looking forward to the "Live Music Tonight " as the sign out front proclaims. Only one musician, but, that's okay, a solid blues man can be truly wonderful. Not this guy. Wearing the same clothes I'm sure he wore to his day job at the pig farm, this man literally and figuratively stunk. We forced ourselves to stay for 30 minutes. It was difficult, but we were trying to be nice. I've spent a lifetime seeking out blues music all over the world. I could not recognize ANY songs or lyrics, any vague rhythms, any familiar guitar licks. He is the worst musician I have ever heard. I don't know if I will ever get his performance out of my head. If you look at my other reviews, you will see that I rarely give negative reviews. I derive no pleasure in trashing anyone. But this place is so terrible I see this as a public service. One other thing. We sat next to a couple sucking each other's tongues out of their mouths, not at closing time, but 6:30 pm. No one said a word to them. It was disgusting enough, but then they disappeared into the ladies room, and proceeded to have wild loud sex while everyone in the place heard it all. The staff is wonderful! We've always had good service when we stop by. Food is okay. It's hit or miss. After being locals, and visiting a half dozen times, we can say the food is good--sometimes. We've never had amazing BBQ. It's been okay, but nothing over the top. Sometimes the meat has been tough and burnt, and the seasoning is just blah. I'm not sure if the kitchen staff has high turn over, or what. The Blu Pig has soooo much potential to be an amazing restaurant. I hope they figure out how to fix the inconsistencies and become the amazing BBQ restaurant that would fit right into Moab's dining experience. read more

Ate here two nights in a row and had a delicious meal and great service from Melena. Hubby had smoked prime rib both nights, I had brisket first night and smoked prime rib second night. Both were lightly smokey and delicious especially with the home made peppercorn sauce. Grandson had the "Big and nasty" on the first night which sounded better than it tasted. Second night had large portion of the brisket which he said was best he ever tasted and he's been to Texas for BBQ many times. Sides-coleslaw definitely tastes homemade, gumbo rich and meaty, sweet potato fries delicate and sweet, onion rings too much breading. Desserts great. Had both cobblers and smoked pecan pie. Pie had lots of nuts and not a lot of that gooey custard filling. Smoky flavor very subtle. Yum! Also dog friendly on the patio which is outfitted with water sprayers and fans. Melena made sure our two dogs each had their own water bowl. Missed the music which must be in the bar. Great dinner after strenuous hot day at Arches and Canyonlands. read more

I cannot even begging to explain how delicious and wonderful this restaurant was! We sat on the bar side and Jarrod was our waiter. He was spot on checking in when needed but wasn't over-bearing. We had pulled pork (sandwich and non), tri-tip and brisket with sides of coleslaw, gumbo and hush puppies. Everything was seasoned and sauced wonderfully and cooked perfectly! We finished all of our food and were greatly satisfied. The music and ambiance of the restaurant/bar were perfect and went with the food well. We are just in Moab for a night but have already decided when we come back, we will be going here! Thanks for such a great dinner! read more

This place is decent although personally I've had better food at Friday's. What makes this place appealing is the atmosphere and proximity to the La Quinta Moab . They share a parking lot. The staff was wonderful and they had a small band playing which offered nice atmosphere. read more

After a day in Arches Park this is a must do refilling station! We had the gumbo which was perfectly seasoned and hearty. The pulled pork burger is double decadence with pork on top of 1/2 lb burger. It was cooked perfectly topped with some great slaw. Only issue was my bottom bun drowning in delicious sauce (a great problem lol!). The red bean and rice were the perfect carb load after a day of hiking as well. Season our server was great! And it is one of the few places to have a 3.2 draft w/o ordering food.. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Service and prices are bad almost everywhere in Moab (yeah, servers are just horrible everywhere there... no smiles, no sense of "hustle", etc). This place had big portions so the price premium is easier to swallow. Tri tip and pulled pork was definitely 4 out of 5 stars. My wife doesnt care for BBQ but liked her pork sandwich (good bun too). Love the free filler cornbread. Sweet potato fries and regular fried are just "ehh". So try a different side. I'm from Alabama so you can trust my review on BBQ. read more

It's a pretty average Wednesday night in Moab- not a ton going on. Their patio is empty. But apparently I can't sit there with my rambunctious 2.5 year old unless if I have a dog with me? Weird. This is my second visit here. Last one was 2 yrs ago. They likely have the best KC style bbq ribs outside of KC. Loved both the Texas style sauce and the KC sauce. Great vibe and decor inside. Good beer to go with the food. Tiffani, our server was right to point out we have enough on order since the portions are big and the food satisfying.
