Ok this place is awesome. A few blocks from downtown, a beer garden with a variety of great brews, surrounded by several food trucks with varying cuisine. If El Roy's parks here I highly recommend you eat there. The Block's Facebook page shows the different trucks that will come in on each day. Food - 2 options on Saturday night BBQ $13 for a few cuts of tri tip on slaw in a TINY appetizer bowl. GREEK $9 for the taste of raw onions on a chicken gyro. Lacked flavor. Needed hot sauce or slap of hummus. Save ur $ and go to El Roys taco truck beforehand or get takeout from a restaurant. It will be cheaper & tastier!! Limited parking and they will tow your car. More heat lamps would be good too. Overall, it's an industrial hangout spot w beer & some food. There's other beer gardens with better food. read more

Great place and great people! Trivia night on Thursdays is alot of fun! I can even bring my dog! Just stay away from "The fuel" food truck. Multiple times it's taken more than 40 minutes to get a grilled cheese or chicken sandwich. They don't applologize or even warn you that it might take a long time. 40 minutes for a grilled cheese? Really? On the other hand, the wing man's food truck is awesome! Great food, great service! Good peeps! Thank you wing man! You make my Thursdays so wonderful! Wish you were there every Thursday! Great concept- outdoor seating with fires and heat lamps. Unfortunately 2 out of 3 of our meals were very blah. The Greek truck was very disappointing- how do you mess up hummus? And crunchy anemic tomatoes and cold chicken kabob. The BBQ was also very lackluster. The pizza we had was decent and the cocktail was ok. I've never been to Petaluma and had no clue where to go. This cute little open air market had about 4 vendors and the most important thing is the drinks! My kids had firetrail pizza which was not for them because they are picky and expect pizza to be a certain way, but I thought it was tasty. My husband had a buffalo chicken sandwich from Jackie's Big Boy and enjoyed it. I ended up get a croquette slider, corn and chicken skewers at Yakai Japanese catering. My kids liked the skewers and the ahi croquette sliders were good. The means authentic Japanese bar food, Izakaya, and goes well with drinks. I had a Paloma which was just the right amount of strong after being in a car and setting up camp with kids. As far as pandemic response- there are a lot of tables. They aren't 6 feet away, but they did place a "cleaned" block on each table. There was sanitizer near the bar and there were signs to wear a mask when not eating. We would've hung out longer but it was getting a little crowded. It would be a fun place to hang on a summer night pre-pandemic when you don't worry about people next to you. I personally love when industrial spots get redeveloped into a place making destination. read more

It's a great place if you want to bring your pup or children and very enjoyable atmosphere with their fire pits and fire towers to help you keep warm in the evening. Bingo!! We attended Bingo night and hadn't been in awhile. I forgot how much fun it is!! The caller is such a pro and made the event 100% more fun because he's so awesome. It's very family friendly which great too. Also a nice way to enjoy the block while avoiding the weekend crowds. We will keep coming back to Bingo night just because of the caller. This is my first visit and it did not disappoint! 20+ Taps, food tents and trucks, open garden area, randomly situated in the industrial area of Petaluma. A great set up for great fun. Very kid friendly and open seating picnic tables. Today I had Pulp Fission from 3 Disciples in Sebastopol and a Fugli IPA from Oskar Blues.--Very delicious and complimentary to the brisket plate I had for lunch! We came up from Concord. The Block is GREAT! It's the perfect place to meet up with friends and grab some food/beer. I've been a few times and I love that the food is always different but you can always count good Pizza if the food trucks aren't to your liking that day. The beer selection is top notch featuring local norcal pale ales- my fav. I always make a point to ask for a recommendation and I'm always happy with the result- great job bartenders! It's a good safe-space for kids to play while the parents relax. Tip: If the coffee bar is there- get one of their specialty espresso shots- they're a bit pricy but worth it. read more

Every town in America should have a Block. I love the vibe of this place. Super easy. Great wood fired pizza. A place where the kids can get their ya-yas out. Picnic style tables with heating lamps and umbrellas on the outdoor patio and long beer garden style tables under the awning (ready for all weather!). This place has it all! My only criticism is there aren't more regularly scheduled food trucks (and I wish they were open for lunch). I'm grateful there is at least delicious pizza you can count on, but ... need more trucks! read more

Petaluma is a sleepy little town where nothing is happening, where there is absolutely no reason for anyone to come here and check out the downtown area. Or so we would have you believe, mwahahaha. We now sport two - count 'em TWO - dedicated beer gardens in Ptown, and the new rival to Brewsters is handling it's beez. A really off the wall beer selection, and bonus points for a rotating cast of food trucks to come in and fill yer belly with goodness. (They do bake their own pizzas, which I have yet to try.) Unfortunately, the food trucks can create a bit of a scene when the place is busy, so be prepared to have to lurk around them for a while waiting for your order to come out - rough deal when you'd rather be sitting with folks enjoying your tasty beer. And beer is where you'll want to focus - these guys don't have a full liquor license (as of now, anyways) so the cocktails are more like fauxtails. Bonus point for having a kid's play area. Bonus point removed for said play area being basically a square of dirt with a bunch of old cut up 2x4s. I know that back in my day, kids went outside and made do with what they had, but they need to up their game here to rival Brewsters. Foibles aside, The Block is a groovy place that's well worth a visit. If you're doing it with kids, probably still better to hit Brewsters, but if it's adults only and you're on the hunt for legit ale and a ton of different food options, then the Block fits the bill. read more

The Block is a decent concept, but it could definitely use more vendors. You have your option of three foods trucks here - basic burger + fries joint, artisan pizzas, and wings. Under the canopy, you'll find their bar, which has a number of delicious taps, a few cocktails, and a small wine selection. Overall, you can bring your kids and have them shoot hoops while you have a couple of beers and watch sports under the canopy, but in terms of being the size of an Off the Grid or even SoMa Streat Eats, The Block is just adequate. There's also just the one bathroom, so you'll have to wait if it gets packed. read more

I'm sure our visit to The Block was a total anomaly. My husband and I stopped by on Labor Day with another couple, and we were the only people there. I'm told there is usually a large variety of food trucks to eat from, but there weren't any on the holiday. Thankfully, The Block has a brick pizza oven and made incredible pizzas! The four of us enjoyed our afternoon sipping our beers and sharing pizza. The outdoor seating was under a large covered patio. I think it would be an awesome place to have lunch when it's bustling with people and an array of food trucks, but we still had a great time! read more

This business has no legal parking for its patrons so beware if you park in the lot. There is no signage and security does not tell you you could get towed. I tried talking to the owner but he was extremely rude and actually hung up on me. He clearly does not care about costing his patrons money. I highly recommend not supporting his business. read more

I came here with a fairly large team from work for trivia, food, and drinks, and everyone had a blast! Julie is awesome - she helped me plan ahead so I could put all the drinks and food (from 3 different vendors) on one card, supplying us with wrist bands to make it really easy for everyone. She and the other staff were very accommodating and friendly, the cocktails and food were fantastic, and the person in charge of trivia did a great job. I wish I could give this place five stars. The food and atmosphere are amazing... however, be warned!! the dairy parking lot that everyone uses and is always full of cars tows. $400 waiting for a poke bowl that was supposed to be a 20 minute wait but was ONE HOUR. I went to leave and my car was gone. I wasn't the only confused patron. There were numerous families with kids trying to figure out where their vehicles went. They didn't even have the decency to have the band announce the parking lot was off limits and people were subject to be towed. When numerous families went to ask the block they had no remorse or care whatsoever. They were well aware that cars would be towed and people had no clue. I take fault in the fact that I should have read the teeny tiny sign that was posted about towing. But the block is well aware that this is a common occurrence and has no regard or empathy whatsoever for their customers wellbeing or livelihood. $400 for an hour wait for poke. As a single mom, that is not something that one can afford!! read more

There are so many things I can say that I love at The Block that it would take me all day to write this review! I started coming to The Block a couple months after they opened and have been a loyal customer ever since. We come almost weekly! We mainly stick to the outdoor seating but considering that winter will be coming soon (and possibly more rain) I am not sure what their plans are for the outdoor seating area. Their rotating drink menu is quite good. I am not a big beer drinker but they always carry at least one or two ciders on the menu so I am quite satisfied. My two go-to ciders are usually the Two-Towns Ginga Ninja and the ACE Space Blood Orange. I have yet to have a pizza that I do not like at Firetrail. My favorite is the Pesto and Goat Cheese pizza but enjoy many of the others as well. My favorite food trucks are Croques and Toques, The Bodega, and Which Cheese. I have plans to try El Roy's as well but since that truck is there every night I tend to go with the other trucks that I don't see as frequently. I have it on good authority though from friends and family that El Roy's is not only amazing for the food but also amazing for the amount of food for the cost. If you are in Petaluma and you want a good place to hang-out with friends/family and try some good food, you need to try The Block! If you are looking for more of a restaurant style place, this probably isn't the best place for you. read more

My husband, pup and I went here on a Saturday night and were very pleased with our visit. We had food from the grilled cheese truck and the sushi burrito truck. Grilled cheese was great, but the tomato soup tasted like it was from a can. Sushi burrito was ok, not as much fish as i would have liked and broke very easily so it was a little hard to eat. Started off the night with just wanting to go out for a change, get some tacos sit down and have a beer. Wanted to try something new and I was glad I stumbled across this spot. The only possible reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars was the selection of beer, which was mainly IPA. While I think that the selection will rotate seasonally please have a more diverse selection, even the red ale was almost a IPA, lol. The food was great and a surprising selection, it was a pretty cool idea especially with the pandemic going on. Even though the beer selection was slightly lacking, there cocktails were so delicious. I ordered a Old Fashioned, and they cared for so much attention to detail, even though it was being served out of a plastic cup. I swear I could of just sat there in front of a fire pit and drank those all night. I really wish I could leave a 4.5 star review. If anything you want a decent cocktail, and an interesting vibe come here. I also kinda liked the almost cafeteria outlook of this place. While this place was busy it was it was nice to sit down with people you don't know and start new conversations. Everyone was wearing masks, and minding there space, but I was still able to interact with new people. Have been here right when they opened during Butter and Egg days. Of course it was extremely crowded, and no parking available. Finally found a spot opposite to where the entrance was. We had the brick oven pizza, which was delicious. Never was able to get beer, since it was extremely crowded. We tried again on a Friday, a couple months later, to stop by, but never found a parking space in the small lot they have. Drove around twice, only to give up and go elsewhere. Hopefully the parking issue can be resolved, and we can try again. read more

It was ok. We went on a Sunday evening. The place is nice, I like the seating arrangement and overall vibe. The food choices were extremely limited. We had a choice of Mexican or pizza. My daughter wanted pizza, so I had to buy my 8 year old a $16 cheese pizza. I thought this was a family friendly venue, they should have some kid friendly choices on the menu. I probably won't go back until they have a more vendors with a better selection of food. Also, they should comsider having local artists playing music in the background.
