    Chicken Kabob
    LaDreena W.

The food is great! I came with a friend and we both commented on the freshness of the ingredients and the depth in flavor! A couple of things that drove off one star: first, my friend asked for lemon to accompany her water and the server said "we don't have lemons". We were both confused, as surely this is a standard cooking ingredient. Sure enough, lemons came out with both of our entrees. It's dark in there, lol! We couldn't tell if they were still working out wall paint colors or just going for a sexy vibe, but it was a bit jarring upon entry.

My experience here was amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect walking in, but it was worth the gamble. The waitress was so sweet and attentive. I was the only one in the place, so I sat alone in the dining room. The menu has a good variety of options. I chose to get a chicken kabob along side the rosemary chicken platter. I wanted to sample a couple of things. They were both delightful. I'm not a humus person and that came with my rosemary chicken. To me the highlight was the rice. It was excellent. The chicken was moist and tender. Thumbs up! The restaurant was clean and modern. They played music. To me it was a little loud, but that's probably because I was there alone. I'd imagine with the tables full of people it would drown out the sound. One of my pet peeves is ordering food and then they give you a crappy knife that can't cut it. They give you one of the best knives I've ever used in a restaurant. And it was beautifully designed. Wonderful experience and looking to go back again.

My daughter and her family wanted to take me to this place for my birthday. We were greeted with, we don't have a kids menu and we have a dress code . The place was empty. We were shocked as they are located at the end of a strip mall. We decided to go to our known favorite across the street, Los Magueys and enjoyed it very much.

Much like the way it is in Scotland, where countryside is filled with incredible dining experiences, Auld Alliance presents a meal to remember in a traditionally elegant atmosphere. With Scottish motifs throughout, the menu is heavily oriented towards game like quail and boar, along with venison and aged steak. The team, like the bartender Carrie, are simply amazing and attentive. It's a level of professionalism and attention to detail that would have been impossible to imagine just a few years ago outside the bigger cities of the state. The quail is phenomenal, delicate and flavorful. The hand cut fries here are maybe the best out there. Sides like rumbledthumps are a must. Filet mignon is spectacular. Some of the prices are a bit excessive speaking relatively to other statehouses in the state, but the quality is there. Thus, Auld Alliance is a spot that's worth a detour and a must if in the area.

We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, but were told our table was already ready, so we were seated. (The restaurant tables are very close together, so be aware that if anyone in your party is wheelchair bound, it may be difficult for them to maneuver around.) The restaurant is kept very warm inside, and I'm usually someone who feels cold easily, but even I was rather hot. A woman brought water glasses and a water carafe to our table and said, "If you want something besides water, just let me know," and then walked off. So, in my mind, that woman was a food assistant or a food runner. Turned out, she was our waitress! She later stopped by, didn't introduce herself and didn't ask if we'd ever been there before, but did ask if we wanted an appetizer. We ordered Potato Pancakes. She also asked if we wanted bread service, so we said yes. We did notice from other conversations at the very close tables near ours, that many of the customers are regulars and have their favorite waitstaff. The manager had stopped by a table to regrettably inform a couple that their favorite waiter was out for 2 weeks. So, that did give us hope that if they have regulars, it must be good. The Potato Pancakes were delicious! (I didn't even stop to snap a picture because we were very hungry!) My husband ordered the "Bier" + Cheese Burger ($16.95), and I ordered the Pork Shank "Schwweinehaxe" ($34). The waitress said she had to check the availability of the Pork Shank, so I told her that if it wasn't available, to put in Chicken Wienerschnitzel. Then she didn't come back to let us know what the kitchen said. My husband flagged her down to find out if the pork shank was available, and she said she'd forgotten to come back, but that it was. He also told her that it was my birthday, so she brought out a cute birthday tea light for the table. The food was absolutely delicious, and for the price point, you can easily see why people are regulars there! The pork shank was enormous! (We ate off of it 2 more times after we took it home. The restaurant gave us extra gravy at no charge, too.) The rosemary mashed potatoes were very good! The presentation was lovely! My husband really enjoyed his burger. Then for dessert, our waitress brought out a slice of tiramisu with a wedge of chocolate cake over it, berries, whipped cream, and a little birthday candle in it. Turned out really wonderful! Will definitely go back to this unique spot!

The menu has lots of different German specialties. We shared the pretzel as a starter and it was very delicious, especially with the beer cheese. As a main, we shared the Bavarian feast, which was more than enough food for two people - I would say it can feed three no problem. I really liked the pork chop, bratwursts, and red cabbage. I also got a side of spatzle because I really enjoy it and it did not disappoint. To end the evening, we got the bananas foster, which came with a table side show to make the dish right in front of you. It was a very nice finish to an incredible meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nicer dinner and to try German cuisine, which is not very common in the Atlanta area.

I'm going to be real: The French onion soup was better than the one I had in Paris. It's cheesier and the broth was creamier and thicker. The wife doesn't love onions and I'm not a French Onion soup guy, but we couldn't stop eating this. The only thing I missed from Paris was the crunchy baguette. The coq au vin was excellent. The wife expected dry chicken breast with a tart wine sauce. The chicken fell off the bone and the mushrooms soaked up the delectable sauce. I had the steak and fries because I got the dinner special on the side of the menu. The steak was cooked a little less than my usual medium rare but that's ok. The butter sauce I got with it was good but not mind blowing. I wanted to immediately pass out after eating because the food is heavy. Service was great and noise levels were a little on the loud side. This fancy but not too fancy. Parking is $2 with valet - tip. Maybe just me though: I hate valet parking. Would I come here again? It's a good spot for date night, or a special occasion, or just when you want a properly- and artfully-prepared crepe and coffee. They still do offer galette and crepe menu items. This new location also features bar service, and their menu has a short list of specialty cocktails and TGG versions of standard mixes. Amuse Bouche: a fresh watermelon gazpacho (served in a shooter) with a tiny crispy wafer topped with Gruyère and apple preserve. Wild! I ordered the Boeuf Bourguignon. One of our party ordered the Sea Bass and another went light and ordered a selection of appetizers. They reported excellent preparation and flavors. Mine was extremely well prepared, rich and full flavored. The dishes were presented like works of art. It was the luck of the day that beams of setting sunlight shone through the curtains and illuminated our meals just as they were placed on the table. The spiraled lemon on the crab cake caught sun like a stained glass window. The beef arrangement on my side looked like a tiny forest, with tender boulders of mushrooms and meat, fallen trees of carrots, a little shrub of Swiss chard, and a sapling sprig of fresh rosemary. But for real - artistic musings aside, this was some damn good food. I thoroughly enjoyed the main course, and of course, I had to get a crepe for dessert. Tout de Chocolat was such a perfect finish, with freshly toasted almonds and warm buttery caramel to offset wave after wave of chocolate flavors. I always love the atmosphere they create. The owner was in the house and she is always such a delight to encounter. The Galloping Galette should be on your short list for great restaurant experiences in Gwinnett County.
