    Onion rings

I have really struggled with sharing this review given this business is locally owned and I want to support local as much as possible. We had a Friday lunch reservation for 2. I specifically noted we were excited to try crepes locally. Upon arrival we realized we were the only people there and it was very very quiet. The hostess stated before seating us that she was told to tell me they only have crepes on Tuesday. I was shocked thinking they could have explained that prior to arrival but it was OK and we sat. Another party entered and went to the back. The server didn't arrive for another 8 minutes. She said they only have 2 people staffed so she was sorry. I asked for recommendations for appetizers and we ordered calamari based on her recommendations. We also placed our meal order and she asked about anything else and we said no we're just on our lunch break. Calamari arrived pretty timely and was excellent. Great balance and flavor. My husband prefers less breading but I thought it was excellent and bountiful. Fast forward more than 10 minutes the server comes back and we are finished with calamari and she asked if we are ready for our entrees to get started. My husband wasn't pleased. He didn't consider this a 5 course meal situation nor was it portrayed in that manner and he wasn't amused. Almost 20 minutes later our entrees arrive. Onion rings were huge and a lovely golden brown. I asked for a sauce to dip them in. She said what do you want I ask what do you have? She offered ketchup, Dijon, and remoulade sauce. I asked for all three. She looked appalled. My husband asked for regular mustard for his fries and she turned her head and made a face and said through a chuckle we don't have regular mustard here. He didn't feel that extra judgemental tone was needed. When she brought out tiny tablespoon of each condiment for me she said he is being stingy because he doesn't believe you will eat all of these and in fact will give you 100 dollars if you do. I just said um ok thanks. My croque monsieur was unfortunately cold making the bechamel pasty instead of warm and comforting. I took a few bites and notices the bread was an excellent toast. Overall I think the it is difficult for me to really just the harmony of this classic due to temperature. My husband had a lamb burger with an overwhelming amount of goat cheese and a bit tougher than expected. Onion rings, Dijon and remoulade were all some of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately I don't see us returning.

Fabulous dinner. A friend came into town and we decided to try this place. Was not disappointed. Everything from the drinks to the main course was delicious. Attention to detail was not missed. Will be be back again!

I came here for lunch today. My friend and I had a really good lunch. We started with a charcuterie board, then she had the lobster bisque and I had the escargot. All were excellent. Sadly, this restaurant is closing on 8/2/2025. The service was on par.

Take care guys This is about health concerns

Its not about the food it's about the health Report really concern for the costumers

I don't get how someone could give this place a 1 star review. The service was amazing, the food was wonderful, and they made me a beef Wellington that wasn't on the menu that night cause I had always dreamed to have one! Thank you for a great night! Please support this local restaurant!

Amending my original review based on side conversation with the owner - she had some valid points. I found a few of the menu offerings and to be a little distracting from what I've experienced as a traditional 'French' restaurant/cafe either in the US or abroad. However, that is just my perception...if this restaurant is authentic to her region of France, so be it. We ordered a lot of food - mussels in white wine and so much cream that the broth was closer to a chowder than anything (does not come with bread...extra charge for that?!); goat cheese balls that tasted like exactly that - big balls of fried goat cheese with nothing to break up that flavor; beef tartare that wasn't bad...just under-seasoned; and a super-weird "mosaic leek" - soft leeks wrapped in nori like sushi and served in coffee broth. None of the apps were bad, but they weren't good either. The best were the mussels after we bought the bread to soak up the chowder broth. For entrees, my friends ordered a whole roasted seabass served with beet puree, an odd (kinda slimy) mushroom sauce, and a grilled trumpet mushroom; and the skirt steak served with chimichurri (classic French...). I got lamb chops served with mashed potatoes. Everything was really salty - the mashed potatoes seemed to be mixed with a jus of some sort that turned them into a salt bomb. Both the skirt steak and lamb were cooked to a nice temperature, but they were both grey on the outside...no sear at all. Like they had been steamed or sous vide instead. We had to ask the waiter to identify a few of the elements on each plate, and I suspect he was making up at least some of the answers (I know what smoked paprika tastes like, and the brown clumps of bitter powder on my plate were not it.) I didn't enjoy the meal. Restaurants get one shot to make a good impression and this one missed the mark for me. I will likely not be back.

I came here with my girlfriend and her family for her birthday. The restaurant itself was very nice and had a good atmosphere. The service however, was terrible. Over the two hours we hardly saw our waitress (maybe 4 times), Natalie, when she finally came to take our order she, unprompted, recommended against the fish, or at least with alterations as she made us well aware after the fact, which seemed odd. After it took a long time to get our food and when it arrived it was so salty to the point of being almost inedible. The appetizers were very good especially the escargot. When we finally were ready to leave, we asked for to-go boxes and our waitress, again unprompted, said, "she would box it but was too busy." After the experience my girlfriend was very disappointed and left a google review documenting our experience. An hour or so after leaving the review, the waitress found my girlfriend's mom (I can only assume after finding her name on the reservation) and chose to message her on Facebook. I've attached a picture of the message to this review. We found this completely over the line and creepy. After we messaged the owner about the situation, he sent this message in response. We are completely disgusted by our experience and hope we can prevent anyone else from having as terrible a time as we did.

No one in town charges more for a beer than this place. For example, I enjoy local IPAs and Creature Comforts (Athens) is everywhere. I can go to several other stops in town and pay less for a 16 oz can or pour of this beer. Compared to another decent stop down the street, three roses is almost 30% more. My wife says one of the wines she likes is a little less than other stops, so that's good. But other drink prices tend to be on the high side as well, but most in town have higher liquor prices. That adds up if you like to frequent a place. Hence, we stopped frequenting. Overall, I like the decor and as noted, the food is decent. The upstairs is better than the downstairs but I'm glad they have the downstairs for some occasion when they could get busy. As for the Tavern / entertainment element, I've never seen any live music but they have several TVs. Not sure this would be my top choice to watch a game but it would work in a pinch if the other places were too busy or noisy.

I visited on a Thursday just before PM in mid-January and received a warm and friendly welcome. At this early our there were a few patrons about so there was no trouble getting a table. The darts, bowling, and arcade looked enticing but I was on a timeline and couldn't partake. They have a mix of 80's and later music that was very enjoyable and at just the right volume. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. But unlike the typical serving of a flat piece of chicken these were two chicken breasts on top of chunky mashed potatoes made with peel on, and topped with a jalapeno bacon gravy. The textures and flavors were perfect and despite the visibility of jalapenos in the gravy, the heat was barely detectable. The side of green beans had a wonderful garlic seasoning and were perfectly cooked and had that nice crunch still in them. Multiple staff came by to chat and ensure everything was perfect and ensure my drink was always refilled, and even management came by to check my table. Their friendliness was warm and genuine and I was very impressed. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes.

The space, the concept, the vibe all work. The bartender was excellent. Very professional, very kind, and clearly doing everything he could to hold the night together. I honestly felt bad for him. He was busting his ass nonstop and never seemed to catch a break. Unfortunately, the kitchen was an absolute disaster. From the start, four or five items on the menu were immediately unavailable. As the night went on, more and more dishes were 86'd. The message coming out of the kitchen was that they simply did not have the ingredients to cook what was on the menu, which is a pretty alarming thing to hear as a guest. Things got even stranger when we learned there was no chef in the kitchen. Instead, the general manager was back there trying to cook. It very clearly was not working. We ordered appetizers and waited about 45 minutes for what I believe was a seafood dip. When it finally arrived, it came out as a thin, runny soup. Not a dip. A soup. On top of that, it was so aggressively spicy it was nearly inedible. It honestly felt like no one back there had ever made the dish before. The food, flat out, gets a zero from me. If I could give it a negative score, I would. That said, the front-of-house staff deserves credit. They were polite, professional, and clearly trying to manage an impossible situation created by the kitchen. I felt for them, because they were the ones having to face guests while everything behind the scenes was falling apart. Again, this is based on a single experience, and I truly hope it was an off night that's been corrected. If not, I don't see how a place like this could survive. The concept is good, the people up front were good, but the kitchen that night was a complete failure. The entire 2 hour + experience was comp'd.

With a heavy mound of onions and mushrooms on top, the grits ended up feeling dry and pulled all the moisture out of the bite. The flavor itself was fine, just lacking moisture and balance. We also ordered the scallops and risotto. The risotto was the standout. Bright, fresh finish, great texture, and not overpowering. The scallops, unfortunately, were the opposite. They had a noticeably strong smell right away, which usually means they're not as fresh as they should be, especially at a $40 price point. We took them home, but every time we opened the fridge the smell hit us, so they ultimately went in the trash. Despite this particular experience, we've always enjoyed this place. Service is consistently great, drinks are solid, and we usually leave happy. Hoping this was just an off evening, because we genuinely like coming here. Adding an additional * for the great service and because we haven't had a bad experience otherwise.

Those patties are nearly the size of hamburger patties and are house made with plenty of flavor and a hint of heat. The steak was served with sausage gravy that had a strong twang (not the sourness of vinegar, but possibly buttermilk?). The flavor was interesting at first, but by the end of the meal that sour note became unpleasant. The biscuits were of excellent quality and I stole some of my wife's strawberry compote to finish them off. The generous egg serving was cooked over-medium which was perfect for my tastes. The breakfast potatoes weren't crisp and large chunks of potato and green peppers. I ate a few, but they were a bit stodgy for my liking and I didn't finish them.
