Super cute little cafe. We got there at about 1 PM on a Sunday, and it was crowded but there was one open table. There's plenty of parking. You seat yourself and then they come with menus and to take your order (you pay at the register when you're done). The folks working there are super nice. They have breakfast all day (!!!) and lunch. I had scrambled eggs, salmon patties, grits, and a biscuit for $11. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was yummy and I left very full! I was so excited salmon patties were an option because I don't eat sausage/bacon/etc. I also love how easy you can customize your breakfast plate. My gf got over easy eggs with corned beef hash, hash browns, and toast. She said the eggs were cooked perfectly and the toast was really good! Honestly love this place, even though they have dust older than me. A true meat and three with a menu board that changes daily, and yes, they consider macaroni and cheese to be vegetable. This is a hidden gem. Saw it for years but never went in and tried it. A co worker eats breakfast every weekend and said I would like it. So at lunch I went, they have a different meat as their daily special and you can get 2 or 3 sides and a choice of bread. The food is really good and seasoned well and not just warmed up right out of a can. Give it a try, what are you waiting on? Oh and the service is too notch. Breakfast was really good & came very quick via DoorDash. The portions for the price are perfect. Hubby and I ordered the pancakes (3) and bacon and French toast (3) and sausage. The pancakes are HUGE! More than enough to share or for leftovers. They were fluffy and buttery for the size. The French toast was really good. Not too eggy. First impressions of this place are not good. It's very dirty and needs maintenance on the outside and it just gets worse inside. The person I was with insisted on staying so we had lunch. I had a burger (3/10) and fries (3/10) and peach cobbler which was all crust but no peaches. The waitress explained that it was the last of what was in the pan. She took it off my bill. Service was very good and friendly. I won't return to this restaurant unless it's seriously cleaned up. Health department score is 83 out of 100. read more

I've driven past this place for years. Decided to have breakfast there with a friend. The staff was very nice but this place needs a deep cleaning. The blinds are filthy and the food is very average. I was hoping hole in the wall would present itself but it didn't. There are plenty of places locally owned that are much cleaner and way better food. It was a beautiful Monday afternoon and Carols Cafe were one of the few brunch places that serve breakfast all day and also has a lunch menu. I called ahead of time before arriving make sure that they were open since it was Memorial Day and they were! LOCATION: I pass by this small restaurant all the time when I'm on Barrett but never stopped by for some reason. It's located in a small plaza where Mike the Mechanic sign is that and it has its own building close to the front of the road. There are also plenty of parking spaces available. DECOR: A few booths and chairs with their menu written on a chalk board on the wall, it definitely gave off the homey and low-key-type-of-family-owned businesses. Although I appreciated their decor and ambiance, the place did come off as not being the cleanest and quite rundown. SERVICE: Although our waitress was quick in getting what we need and put in our orders. Our party of five waited over 45 minutes for our food. That's just ridiculous, especially when we're one of two parties that were there. Perhaps, they only have one cook, but I saw people coming in and getting their to-go orders before we did and they arrived much later than our party. I was definitely still a little bit bitter about that. FOOD: When we finally got our food, which was a chicken biscuit and a half skillet, for my boyfriend and I, the half skillet was da bomb, and I definitely recommend that. But, the chicken biscuit wasn't all that spectacular. We also ordered side orders of hashbrowns and biscuit and gravy and it was okay. While dining here, expect a lot of grease in your food because I left feeling super healthy...but I guess that's southern comfort food for you. Our bill came out to be around $15 bucks so it's not too bad. Overall, will I come here again? Probably not. The slow service was ridiculous and the place doesn't look the cleanest either. But, maybe it's just not for me. Nothing here tasted horrible, so give this place a shot for those who haven't come here yet. read more

For what it's worth, this place was a surprise. Located in a nondescript strip mall, it humbly has country written all over it. There is not anything lavish as far as the decor goes. It almost feels like going back in time, to my grandparents era. Fifties minimalist style but the seats were comfortable enough. I'm a fan of a good biscuit and this one was delicious and buttery. I had their hash brown skillet with scrambled eggs and it was delicious! A good portion size did not leave me hungry. The coffee was again surprising. Cafe's historically have terrible one-dimensional coffee but this was pleasant and robust. Please fill me another and another cup. But best of all was the price. Was totally worth the meal! This place has been here for years. Food, price and portion are great. I attended the elementary school off that intersection way back and had never tried it until now. There seems to be a good amount of regulars who come by on a schedule! I've even seen some pictures of customers who have now passed away on their walls/refrigerator. You know they've got good customer service after knowing that. It's crazy that my family had never tried this place. I've come here about 6 times now and have always ordered a skillet for breakfast. It's a true diner! In my opinion you do not go into an old local diner with high expectations. You go in and get cozy in a booth while the nice waitress takes care of you. This is a true local diner. So not being from south I can't give true rating on biscuit or grits to me they were mediocre. The omelette was good. It sounded like the eggs were straight out of shell as you can hear the cook in kitchen beating them. Some reviews said place seemed dirty. I wouldn't say that at all it is just older, there wasn't dirt or filth and maybe blinds were cleaned from previous reviewer. That almost got me not to go. A little hole in the wall family owned eatery that cooks all the comfort food you could imagine. Although the food was decent I could not over look how nasty the place was. Some dust may be a little ok for me but not when it's caked on. Then sitting on the table beside us was a basket of butter and jelly with dust,hair,and random things. Tbh I'm not sure if any high dusting or cleaning has gone on through the years. There was a fella that also came from the back with blue gloves on. I assumed he was a cook until he just started sitting down at the tables and standing at the front all while still having gloves on.
