This would be a perfect place for larger groups such as family get togethers, celebrations, while still seating couples and others. And the portions versus the price point seemed very reasonable to me. They boast a Southern Coastal Cuisine so I went with the Fried Flounder Sandwich dressed in southern slaw and a side of tartar sauce. Served on a Niedlov's (Bakery in Chattanooga) grilled artisan hoagie bun. It was delicious. Crunchy crust and a tender moist fillet on the inside. And that Creamy Dreamy slaw was amazing. Their Fried Chicken Tacos is a must try too. Three hot chicken tenders in four tortillas, topped with corn salsa, cojita cheese, and jalapeño lime ranch. It was an Oh My Gosh experience. They have a very nice outside covered patio that's pet friendly and it all sits on a very large parcel with nice greenery and impressive landscaping. Used to live in the area but haven't been to Acworth in probably 20 years. We were meeting 4 other couples and someone suggested 1885 Grill. It was a great choice. Grabbed a quick cocktail before our friends showed up. Good cocktails and service at the bar. Sometimes restaurants have an issue dealing with large groups. The waitress was fantastic and got us through the dinner without any issues and great service. They did put a 20% tip automatically on the bill but I have no issue with that. Came here for Christmas last minute and the wait time was about 45 minutes. The restaurant is big and cute, definitely a great place to bring a group. The food was really high quality and delicious. Our table ordered the hush puppies, Nashville hot chicken, egg rolls, and the house salad, and everything was made fresh. Truly I would give a 3.5. We were there for a work dinner so there were like 15 of us. Our table was ready on time and it was roomy. There were a bunch of apps ordered that weren't anything with a wow factor. There was this fried ball with goat cheese that was better than the others but it was a special and not a menu item. I had the shrimp and creamy grits. I thought serving in a shallow flat plate was weird. I was scraping around to get a good spoonful. Also the tails were left on which would be fine except they were completely IN the grits. I was having to pick them out. We ordered a sampling of the desserts and the pecan bread pudding was delicious! The great company offset the service. A large group of us made reservations for this past Saturday evening. Our table was ready as we walked in. We all ordered different meals. I had ribeye that was cooked as I asked at medium rare. My husband and a few others had trout and there were several other different dishes. Not one complaint. The service was excellent. Food was awful. My wife had shrimp and grits with mushrooms, and it was swimming in lemon juice. I had fried flounder that was so heavily breaded that I couldn't taste the fish. At least they messed up the bill so that the manager had to get it straightened out. They need to at least hire someone that can cook. read more

This is my second time visiting since this location is so far. But again it was a great experience. This time the restaurant was packed. Seeing the size of this restaurant a 30 minute wait is shocking. I chose to sit at the bar and service ran smoothly without the staff seeming overwhelmed. I tried the butternut squash pasta and the Cajun rainbow trout with collards and baked sweet potato. The pasta and greens with jalapeño cornbread were the stars of the show. Our meal with a sweet tea came to around $52 with taxes. I'll definitely be back again. Next time I'll order something smaller and try dessert. read more

Began eating here monthly in Summer 2025 and plan on continuing for the foreseeable future. WOW is the food incredible. Mixed drinks are done rather well and regularly feature new, creative offerings. I've never seen anything but the best customer service. Food presentation is always top-notch with decent-sized portions. Sit indoors or on the wrap-around patio area. Bring your kids, they have cornhole (and probably other games). I've been craving to try this restaurant for awhile and man they did not let me down! I could eat here a couple times a week with there very diverse and full front to back menu options. Upon entering the restaurant i noticed it was very open and i could smell the food from the door. Now i did get to try a variety of food options and out of 6 or 7 items only one was my least favorite but my friend thoroughly enjoyed. We tried the scallops (absolutely my fav) ribs that fall of the bone crab cakes that were well seasoned empanadas (not my fav) the costal salad with the old bay ranch OMG super yummy and the shrimp etoufee that was surprisingly delicious!!! Any waitress walking the floor is accessible even if not serving your table, actually various waitresses stopped by to ask if we needed another drink, etc. This alone it gives them a 5 star. Food is good but a bit pricey on some dishes. We sat by the bar and ambience was great. Have eaten at this establishment at least 5 times and all have been very good to exceptional with respect to food quality, prep, and flavor. Favorites were the Osso Buco (dinner special), fried flounder dinner, salmon, and chicken & waffles (brunch offering). My friend always orders (and loves) the Cajun chicken pasta. The green beans and garlic are spectacular. Cocktails are all delicious. Corn bread and biscuits are "okay". Food is escalated pub fare with some really nice specials. Service is friendly and efficient. Nice country atmosphere, albeit very noisy when the restaurant is full. Outside area available for dining, and a great place to your doggie (on a leash). Stopped in 1885 for a late lunch and drinks. Since it was in between lunch and dinner, it wasn't crowded at all. At first I ordered a sangria, but wasn't too happy with it, and got a Paloma instead, which was very good! We ordered the fried flounder, which came with hush puppies and coleslaw. Our waitress made a mistake with our order, so we had to wait for that to be rectified. When the food did arrive, the batter was pretty thick on the fish, but still pretty decent. The hush puppies on the other hand, were fried a little too long and were on the crunchy side. We also got the pecan bread pudding for dessert, which did not disappoint. I decided to give them another chance, and went back the next day with another friend to order something non-fried. I got the snapper picatta with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. I'm so glad I went back, because that was fantastic. That was my first time having grilled snapper, and it was perfect, and so were the mashed potatoes and grilled veggies! We also got a side of mac and cheese, but it was a little too creamy for me. 1885 has a very casual environment and is family friendly. She was very nice and got to our orders quickly. Food was ok. I ordered the bourbon glazed salmon and it came out very undercooked. No problems.. we got it fixed. My sides were the creamed corn and Brussels sprouts. Which were ok. I think the Brussels sprouts were too drenched in the sauce they use. And the creamed corn was just ok. It was very watered down. I'm used it having a thick consistency. Dessert was amazing though. The pecan pie bread pudding was my favorite! It is packed with nuts. So just FYI. The birthday cake was pretty good. I found a dish I love to sample no matter where I'm visiting. I ordered the Mushroom & Grits with blackened shrimp and both types of grits. The mushrooms had a lemony taste to them (I'm asking myself now if they were fresh or not), dish was watery, and the Adluh grit cake didn't have a taste to it at all. I may have found a new favorite restaurant for dates and special events. Kaylee provided outstanding, friendly service. We had the Teriyaki Salmon, Meatloaf, and Seafood Risotto. All were excellent. My favorites of the meal were the hushpuppies with honey butter (yum!), teriyaki salmon (a beautiful and fresh pink filet), finished by a serving of some of the best bread pudding anywhere!
